LOGINBella’s POV
I walked into the ballroom and immediately sensed something was wrong.
Granduncle was pacing back and forth like a caged beast. My parents, my brother, Scarlett’s parents, her brother and sister-in-law—everyone stood stiffly in place, their faces pale and tense.
“What’s going on?” I asked calmly.
Granduncle stopped and glared at me as if I were the cause of his fury.
“It’s Scarlett,” my brother answered before he could explode. “We can’t find her.”
I widened my eyes, feigning shock.
“What do you mean you can’t find her?”
“What he means,” Granduncle roared, “is that she ran away! Today is the day we were supposed to hand her over to Grant Romano. We already informed his family we would give our final answer today—that’s the only reason he hasn’t moved against us yet!”
His voice echoed violently across the ballroom.
I lowered my gaze slightly, masking my thoughts.
“Did you search her room properly?” I asked carefully. “Scarlett doesn’t seem like someone who would run away without a reason.”
That only deepened the confusion in the room.
At that moment, two guards rushed in. One of them held a small glass bottle.
“Boss,” the guard said, kneeling. “We searched everywhere but couldn’t find her. However… we found this in her room.”
Granduncle looked at it with irritation.
“What am I supposed to do with a bottle?” he snapped.
Scarlett’s mother suddenly stepped forward and snatched it from the guard’s hand. The moment she read the label, her face drained of color.
She screamed.
Everyone stiffened.
Her daughter-in-law hurried to her side and took the bottle to examine it.
“This can’t be…” she whispered, horrified. “Scarlett can’t be pregnant!”
“Pregnant?!” Granduncle bellowed.
“What?!” I gasped, placing a hand over my mouth in perfect performance.
“So she ran away because she’s pregnant?” he thundered. “How dare she! Pregnant without a contract? Without my approval? Who was she seeing? Who dares touch a daughter of this family without my permission?!”
The veins in his neck bulged with rage.
My father stepped forward cautiously. “Uncle… this is disastrous. If we don’t deliver tonight, we may not last until morning.”
Scarlett’s father—Granduncle’s own son—also stepped forward, his voice shaking.
“Father… perhaps we should choose another arrangement since Scarlett cannot be found—”
The slap came so fast it cracked through the air.
Scarlett’s father stumbled back, clutching his cheek.
“Shut up!” Granduncle roared. “There is nothing you have ever done right! Your son got a woman pregnant, and I had to force a marriage to bury the scandal. Now your daughter gets pregnant and runs away!”
He pointed across the room angrily.
“Look at your cousin’s family. They obey. They follow orders. That is how power is maintained!”
Scarlett’s mother trembled as he turned on her next.
“This is what happens when you fail to control your own household!”
Silence fell—heavy and suffocating.
I stepped forward slowly.
“Granduncle,” I said gently, making my voice sound reasonable. “Since Scarlett cannot be found… perhaps we should consider another form of settlement. As her father suggested.”
All eyes turned to me.
“We could offer assets—money, properties, control over certain routes, strategic partnerships. Surely Grant Romano values power and influence more than forcing a woman who clearly doesn’t want to be there.”
I made sure my tone sounded respectful.
Measured.
Thoughtful.
Innocent.
But beneath the calm exterior, my mind was calculating.
Let him panic.
Let him feel cornered.
The more desperate he became, the easier it would be to move the pieces exactly where I wanted them.
Granduncle stared at me for a long moment. I saw uncertainty flicker in his eyes.
“I believe I have another option,” Granduncle finally said.
For a split second, I allowed myself to breathe.
The room fell silent.
“Everyone in this house will ensure that news of Scarlett’s escape—and her pregnancy—never leaves these walls,” he declared coldly. “The arrangement still stands.”
A ripple of tension spread across the room.
“It’s good you considered another option, Granduncle,” I said carefully, keeping my expression composed.
He looked at me with something that almost resembled pity.
“Bella… I’m sorry. This is business. You wouldn’t fully understand.”
I lowered my gaze, hiding the irony.
“We need someone close to him,” he continued. “If we place one of our own by his side, Grant Romano will hesitate before making a move against us. That is why I chose a bride as leverage.”
“And now that she’s gone?” I asked quietly. “What happens?”
He scoffed, as though the answer had always been obvious.
“You will take her place, Bella.”
Gasps erupted across the room.
My mother staggered backward. Scarlett’s mother covered her mouth. My brother shouted in disbelief.
And I—
I joined them.
“What?!” I exclaimed, widening my eyes as if the idea had never crossed my mind.
But inside, my thoughts were steady.
This was exactly how it would unfold.
I had told Scarlett and her lover this would happen. After exhausting every option, after calculating every outcome, Granduncle would choose the most valuable daughter left.
Me.
I had always known I would be his last move.
And I had already decided I would accept.
“Why are you all shouting?” Granduncle snapped. “Is there another unmarried daughter in this family I am unaware of?”
No one answered.
The silence was thick with dread.
My father stepped forward hesitantly. “Uncle… Bella is—”
“She is the highest-ranking unmarried daughter we have left,” Granduncle cut in sharply. “Her position alone secures our advantage.”
His gaze settled on me.
“You should be proud. You are saving this family.”
Saving.
What a twisted word.
I slowly lifted my head and met his eyes.
And for the first time, I didn’t look like a sheltered daughter of this house.
I looked calm.
Resolved.
“If this is what it takes to protect the family,” I said evenly, “then I will go.”
My mother cried out my name.
But beneath the sorrowful mask I wore, my resolve only deepened.
If this is the only way to fight for the daughters who will be born after me…
Then I will go to any length.
"No Granduncle, my daughter can't go. This is my second daughter you're sending out, please don't do this toe me. If Grant Romano find out about the switch, she might kill my daughter" My mother cried.
I took a deep breath and walked up to her.."Mum, you know your daughter. Nothing can happen to me. And this is the best decision. I think Grant Romano would be more mad if we had force cousin who was carrying another man's child" I let out, trying to persuade her, but I don't think she's really to give in.
"Please don't do this, you can still reject it, it's not too late" She pleaded..
"Mum, it's my wish and I don't regret I wanted to do this. You can't stop me" I said it clearly because my mind was already made up and no one can stop me.
Bella’s POVAs I walked into my room, I closed the door behind me and leaned against it for a moment. My heart was still uneasy, but maybe Alessandro was right. Maybe I really did need to clear my head.I changed into a simple cream-colored dress and brushed my hair until it fell softly over my shoulders. I didn’t bother with much makeup, just enough to make me look less tired. When I came back downstairs, Alessandro was waiting for me by the door. His eyes moved over me, and he smiled.“You look beautiful.”I lowered my gaze. “Thank you.”He opened the door for me like a gentleman, and I stepped outside with him. The fresh air touched my skin, and I breathed in slowly. It felt good to leave the house.Alessandro drove us out of the city to a quiet place by the lake. It was peaceful there, with trees swaying in the wind and the sun reflecting on the water like tiny diamonds. When he parked the car, I looked around in surprise.“This place is beautiful,” I said.“I know,” he replied. “
Bella’s POVMy wedding was only two days away, but instead of feeling happy, I felt heavy inside.I had tried many times to understand why I felt that way, but I still had no answer. Every girl was supposed to be excited before her wedding day. They were supposed to smile, dream about their dress, and imagine how beautiful everything would be. But that wasn’t how I felt.I was scared. Not the kind of fear that came from cold weather or a bad dream. This fear sat deep inside my chest and refused to leave. It followed me everywhere. It stayed with me when I woke up, when I ate, when I sat alone in my room, and even when I tried to sleep.Something about the wedding felt wrong. It felt like I didn’t want it to happen.I stood in front of the mirror in my room, staring at my reflection. My face looked pale, and my eyes had lost their usual shine. I touched my cheek softly and let out a slow breath.“Bella, what is wrong with you?” I whispered to myself. But even I didn’t know the answer.
Bella’s POVAs he reached the last step, his eyes moved from me to the woman sitting in the living room.I watched his expression carefully. At first, he looked surprised. Then his face changed into something calmer. Something familiar. He knew her.I stood up immediately.“Alessandro,” I called. “What is going on here?”He walked closer, his eyes still fixed on the woman. Then he looked at me.“Bella…”I pointed at the woman. “She says she is my mother.”There was a short silence.I looked between both of them. “Do you know this woman?”Alessandro exhaled softly and nodded.“Yes,” he said.My chest tightened.“So she’s telling the truth?”He glanced at the woman again before facing me fully.“I’m sorry, Bella,” he said gently. “She is your mother. Since you lost your memory, she has been around.”I stared at him in shock, my mouth parted, but no words came out, i turned slowly to look at the woman again. She was crying quietly now.My mother, the word still felt too strange in my hea
Bella’s POVI was sitting quietly in the living room that afternoon, trying to keep my mind calm. The house was peaceful, but my thoughts were not. Ever since everything changed in my life, peace had become something I could only pretend to have.I sat on the couch with a glass of juice in my hand, staring at the television without really watching it. My mind was somewhere else. It had been like that a lot lately. Sometimes I felt like my body was in one place while my mind was lost in another. The sound of footsteps made me look up.One of the maids walked into the living room. She stopped a few steps away from me and bowed her head respectfully.“Good day, madam,” she said softly.I nodded. “Good day.”But I could already tell from the look on her face that she hadn’t come just to greet me. She looked nervous, like she didn’t know how to say what she had come to say.I placed the glass on the table in front of me and gave her my full attention.“What is it?” I asked. She hesitated f
Grant's POVThe car stopped in front of the building. The driver parked in the parking area, and before the engine was completely off, I opened the door and stepped outside.I did not wait for anyone.I slammed the door shut and walked straight toward the entrance. The cold wind brushed against my face, but I barely felt it. My mind was too busy with anger.Usually, Sky would have followed me everywhere. He never liked leaving me alone when he knew I was upset. But this time, he was at home recovering.A bullet had entered his body during the attack a few days ago.The doctors said he would survive, but he needed rest. For once, I was glad he wasn't here, If Sky were with me, he would probably try to calm me down.Right now, I didn't want to be calm.I wanted answers.I pushed the door open and entered the building. The moment my grandfather saw me, a smile appeared on his face."Grant!" he said happily. His reaction irritated me immediately. He stood up from his chair and opened his
Author's POV“I have already done everything possible to make sure I get to the top. Don’t you all see that?” the masked man said. His voice echoed through the large hall, but nobody responded. The room was filled with powerful men and women. Their expensive clothes, calm expressions, and confident posture showed that they were people who controlled great wealth and influence. Yet none of them looked impressed by the masked man standing before them. Not a single person smiled, non single person showed sympathy. To them, he was becoming a burden. The masked man looked around the room desperately.“Trust me,” he continued, trying to control his emotions, “I really need that position. I have sacrificed too much to turn back now. Everything I have done was for this moment.”Still, nobody answered him.Instead, they slowly looked away as if he did not exist. The action hurt him more than any insult could. For years, he had worked for them. He had followed their orders without questioning t
Grant POVMy phone rang, and I grabbed it immediately. “Don, Bella has had an accident,” the voice said. My stomach dropped. The world around me seemed to tilt, and for a moment, I couldn’t breathe.“Where is she? What happened?” I asked, my voice shaking despite my effort to stay calm.“She’s been
Author POVThe hospital hallway was cold and quiet. The smell of medicine filled the air while nurses walked past with serious faces. Machines beeped softly from different rooms, making the place feel even heavier.Alessandro walked through the hallway slowly. His black shirt was wrinkled, and his
Author POVThe room was dark and quiet.Only a small light hung above the round table in the middle of the room. The weak light made the shadows around the walls look strange and dangerous. The air inside smelled of smoke and old wood. No one spoke. No one moved. At the far corner of the room stood
Grant POVI walked into my bedroom and closed the door behind me. The house was quiet, but my thoughts were not. For some reason, Bella's face kept appearing in my mind. I didn't understand why. When I agreed to marry her, it was never about love. She was useful to me, and that was enough. At least
