LOGINMy mum didn't say a word, crying her eyes out, but Xena stepped forward. “Killed? I wouldn't do that to my sister, and neither would my mum do that to her. If we killed her, would she have even left two houses in our names? We would have gotten nothing!” she screamed back, and the crowd stopped. She glared at them and continued, “I just lost my sister, how dare you do this to the deceased's family? If it was you, how would you feel?” she barked, bursting into hot tears. Hearing her say those words made my heart ache.
I always fought with Xena because she never liked Christian. She would always tell me how he gave off a weird kind of aura, how he irritated her, and how he was too close with his ex. Even when she provided photos, I never believed her...I should have cut everything off then. I should have ended it all. Instead, the one dead was me, and I left them grieving.
“The someone you all should suspect is Christian. He got everything. Isn't that suspicious?” she yelled, and Christian, at a corner, eyes widened in shock and confusion. Clearly, he was faking it. I scoffed as he walked closer.
“I earned that fair and square because she trusted me!” he said, making sure he dragged out “trusted.” He wanted the crowd to tag it as her trying to push the blame to him to avoid suspicion.
“See, she's trying to push it onto him. You killed your sister. The police should arrest you first!” the same girl from earlier yelled and raised her hand to toss another egg, but one look from Xena and she dared not.
“Mum, let's go,” Xena said, holding my trembling mum as they walked out.
They must be devastated, I thought and wiped the tears that had escaped my eyes. I will make sure to reveal everything to the media, the paparazzi, who Christian really was! Hmm, he did say he also scammed other women. So right now? How many women like me actually fell victim? That aside for now, I stared back at the folder. At the last page there was a contract. Vincent had signed already, only mine was needed.
“Hereby Party A and Party B agree to sign a contractual agreement....” I read through the first paragraph.
“Rule one: Never disclose who you really are to neither family nor friends.”
“Rule 2: You are not allowed to become close friends with Mia's associates. They know how she behaved, her preferences, even small traces will end everything.”
“Rule 3: Protect Mia's fortune.”
“Rule 4: Never fall in love during these terms.”
Seeing the last rule, I sneered. After everything that happened to me? I had decided not to fall for any man, just focus on myself and my family. I read through every detail again. I didn't want to get ripped off like how Christian took my inheritance. I never gave them to him. He used love and other strategies to make me put everything in his name, especially after causing a rift between my family and me. After signing, I laid on the bed and closed my eyes, breathing calmly.
The door pushed open, and my eyes snapped open. A nurse walked in. “Good afternoon, Miss Mia,” she said softly, and I sat upright.
“Mr. Noir hopes you get changed instantly,” she said and set aside a clean outfit. Staring at it, they were extravagant and clearly Mia's style.
I nodded simply but paused as it dawned on me. As soon as she was about to leave, my lips parted. “What about the bandages?”
I waited roughly twenty minutes, and the doctor from earlier walked in, just as broad as Vincent was, but with a calmer face.
“Sister-in-law,” he said, and I raised a brow...what the f*ck did he mean? Or perhaps he was pretending because the nurses were around. After all, no one was to be trusted. Anyone could snitch if they heard him call me a different name.
I tried to flash a warm smile, but the bandages stopped me, and I didn't stress it. I sat down and gently moved closer as he began to unwrap the bandages. Vincent walked in later, his hands inside his pockets and his cold eyes glued to me. I didn't shiver because I was a queen at giving the same aura...
By the time the bandage finally fell off, I just stood there, glancing between the two men and the maids.
“What is happening?” I thought and reached out my hands, gesturing for a mirror. A nurse rushed to me, and I gazed down at it, staring as my eyes widened in shock, but I immediately replaced it with a smile...I looked exactly like Mia. Wasn't my face completely destroyed? How was the plastic surgeon able to achieve this?
“Welcome back, Mia,” Vincent said, and I snapped out of my fascination.
“It's been so long,” I replied. “You grew...in a different way,” I said, and I swore a satisfied smirk lay on his lips for a split second, but then he dismissed it.
“Leave,” he said. I felt my body tremble at his words, even the nurses' eyes flew wide in horror, and they rushed out...
Once they were gone, I dropped the act and rushed to the large mirror by the corner of the room. I placed my hands on my face, gently running them through the smooth surface. I smiled, and it looked so natural, no sight of plastic surgery...the surgeon did well, I thought and turned to him.
“You were actually convincing,” the doctor said and stretched out his hands for a shake. “I'm Liam,” he said. I stared at it for a while and gently shook it. He smiled and looked over his shoulder, winking at Vincent, but Vincent's eyes grew darker.
“Wink at me again and those eyeballs of yours will be gone.”
Liam paused and looked away, but on landing his gaze on me, he smiled.
“Spa treatment?” he asked, and I raised a brow in confusion till my gaze landed on my hand.
“Oh, spa,” I said, and he smiled, his lips parting, but Vincent cut in.
“Get the bandages off your body and get changed.” He looked at his watch and turned back to me. “We leave in 45 minutes,” he said, and I nodded.
I took the clothes off the table and rushed into the bathroom. I even turned on the shower, letting the water cool my burning skin...I closed my eyes, feeling the melting sensation and shivered. Thankfully, the water was chilled and cold, so I felt no pain. I breathed softly and gently walked out, got dressed in the black bodycon, added a tank top on, and paired it with high heels...
Once I walked out, Vincent and Liam's gazes were fixed on me.
Liam smiled and said, “Welcome home, Mia!”
I stared as Mina's face twisted in disgust while she listened to the voice note."That bastard, you are doing this for love? You actually dare think that?" she cursed under her breath and gripped the phone so hard, laugh escaped from her lipShe dialed a number and said, "Christian is starting to go astray, should we teach him a lesson?" she asked, and my eyes shimmered."Good, everything is going as planned."I immediately switched off the laptop and took the document Vincent had given me earlier."What made you disappear?" I read the question."I didn't disappear, I was taken against my will."Reading through it, I hummed in understanding when suddenly a knock came from the door, and I groaned. The door pushed open before I could say a word, and Sasha walked in."Hi," she waved at me, and I raised a brow, clenching the document shut, her eyes followed it."It's been so long since we chit-chatted," she said, stepping closer when I never gave her permission. I bit my tongue, my gaze f
"That's good. You should fire her. People like your secretary ruin a lot of lives," I added."Either way, that aside, when should we probably meet up? I have some restaurants in min-"I cut the call before he could finish his words. Now I turned to my laptop, clicked on some keys, and a live video popped up that second.I had paid someone recently to put up cameras in Christian's home, claiming to be a house inspection agent few days ago... now I actually get to watch the fun.Christian stared at his phone and charged, didn't this bitch... "That bitch, she dares cut the call on me. Wait till I have everything you own, then I will give you a befitting death," he cursed instantly, and I rolled my eyes.Typical two-faced asshole, I thought, and then a knock came from the door."Miss," I heard the maid's voice and stood up that instant. She was holding a tray with popcorn in a bowl and a smoothie in a plastic cup. I took it and closed the door, rushing back to my seat. I hope I missed not
"Did I perhaps say anything wrong?" I asked, confused why she was laughing, but she held me by the side and walked off. Vincent followed right behind us."Did you change your perfume?" Sloane asked, and I nodded."It wasn't for me," I replied, and she gasped."I gave you those perfumes. How weren't they suiting you? You kept ranting about how they would smell heavenly on you, so I figured... I can't believe you stopped using them," she said, and I laughed."I didn't throw them out, I just stopped using them," I defended myself, and she scoffed."They are the same thing, bitch," she said, and we both burst into maniacal laughter.Sloane got into her own car and I got in with Vincent. We all pulled away from the alley.*******I ran straight out of the car as we arrived home. Today had just been too much. I needed my beauty sleep, but then I stopped in my tracks as I heard Vincent call my name.He placed the document from earlier into my hands. "Make sure you go through it in detail."I
"Hmm, what's that smirk for?"************HOSPITAL "They left?" I asked, and the nurse nodded."They said if you come, I should give this to you." She took out a small yellow rectangular paper. I took it and stared at it."Going home, Mum. Also, Sloane's ex tracked her here."Reading the message, my eyes couldn't help but darken, I dialed Cassidy's number."Hello?" Cassidy's voice came through the line."So, is Sloane there?" I asked worriedly."She kept Austin, but left. She said she was going home, but I doubt it actually. She must have gone to confront that bast**d.""Language Cassidy ""Okay mum, bye" the call ended."Her ex visited the hospital and made a scene, so Sloane had to leave, but she kept Austin at home," I said to Vincent. His eyes still remained cold and he reached out for his phone, calling someone."Location," I heard him say. He hummed, placed his phone into his pocket."Let's go. I know where she is," he said, and I immediately followed him out. The driver this t
She stared straight into my eyes. I felt like she could see through my walls and my lies. I looked away and burst into laughter."What do you mean? I just changed. Besides, people change. After all, it's the only thing constant in life," I added, but she didn't seem convinced at all."Your voice seems to have changed too," she hinted, and my words died in my throat. I just ran my hands through my hair and laughed."Now you're saying things," I mumbled. Perhaps was she the one who sent the text? But Celeste was anything but evil."Either way, I don't care who you are, or who you aren't," she paused and sighed."The first day I saw you, I thought you would pick on me and humiliate me as always. Worse, I knew Cassian wouldn't stand up for me, that's why I followed you to the bathroom. I'm sorry for that. I invaded your personal space," she said and bowed down softly. I rolled my eyes and held her head."I don't need you bowing down, Celeste," I said, and she lifted her gaze, staring at m
Vincent! What the hell was he doing here? Wasn't he in the hospital? Did he track me with the ring?I immediately rolled the window down, and Vincent's cold eyes just gazed at me."What's wrong?" I asked. He reached for his phone and pointed the message straight at me. "Why didn't you tell me? That you were being threatened?" he asked in a dark tone, and I swallowed hard."I didn't think it was necessary. I thought it was just some silly prank to make me say something wrong," I replied, and Vincent scoffed lowly."Mia," he called, straight and cold.My lips parted to explain further, but he didn't let me."Tell me everything. Your life could be in danger," he replied, and I nodded. He got into the back seat and closed his eyes, but my gaze landed on his wound that had split open again."Really? Stop roaming around injured, would you?" I said and reached to unbutton his shirt, but he wouldn't let me. His cold eyes brushed over me and I stopped in my tracks."I just wanted to change the

"Did I say something wrong?" I asked and he shook his head, but he suddenly stopped the car.I lost control and my head landed straight on the car bonnet.
