LOGINAdriana’s POV
As we walked up the spiral staircase, the girls started whispering. I was expecting Draven to get pissed and snap at us, but instead, he kept walking us through the hallways that seemed to stretch forever. "He is so handsome. Guess they weren't bragging about his looks," Ferra whispered. The other girls agreed as I kept silent. From the corner of my eye, I caught the girls scowling and scoffing at my silence, but I didn't bother to explain myself. I was well aware that vampires were able to hear very clearly and from a fair distance, which meant that Draven could be eavesdropping on our conversation at any time. His footsteps suddenly came to a stop, and we all halted in our positions before he turned around to face us. "What's the real reason why you all attended this ceremony?" he asked. We all exchanged glances before growing silent for a few seconds. "Because I intend to be your keeper," Ferra spoke up. I noticed that she was probably the most confident one out of the five of us. Good for her. The remaining three girls agreed as well, but I remained silent. I looked up to face Draven, who was now glaring at me, and that's when I realized that I was supposed to come up with a response as well. "I intend to be your keeper," I stated quickly, with no emotion in my voice. He didn't seem to buy my lie anymore. Instead, he took a step forward, and I cowered in fear as he straightened his posture in front of me. "You're quite the liar now, aren't you?" he asked, slipping his hands inside his pockets. I opened my mouth to say something but then decided to keep it shut. Nothing good seemed to come out of my mouth tonight, so I might as well keep it closed. "Look at me when I'm talking to you!" he snapped. I gasped when he grabbed my already sore cheeks, lifting them up to meet his gaze. His eyes were now fixated on mine and, for some reason, I wasn't able to break eye contact, no matter how badly I wanted to. It felt like I had a compulsion to keep looking him in the eyes, getting more and more drawn inside them as he studied my orbs, searching for the truth. "I want to know the real reason why you're here," he said softly. Before I could even realize what was happening, my lips started to move on their own. "I was forced to attend the ceremony." My eyes widened at my own words. It shocked me that I wasn't able to control them. That wasn't the response I wanted to give. "It's nice to tell the truth for once, hunh?" he asked softly, his eyes growing a shade darker as he released me from his grip. "No way... he compelled her?" I heard the girls whisper. That's when I realized what he had just done. Vampires are famous for their power of compulsion, one of the many powers they possessed. It was then that it hit me: at the very least, I wouldn't even be able to get away with a simple lie. "She's not sincere with her feelings like we are," I heard Ferra hiss. I bit my bottom lip at her obvious statement. "Perhaps you're all getting the wrong idea here," Draven started in a cold voice, slipping his hands inside his pockets before frowning down at all of us. "None of you are fit to be my keeper and will never meet my expectations. The only reason why I went along with this ceremony is to please my brothers. Your job is to entertain them, not me. I have no interest in pathetic and weak humans like yourselves, unless..." He trailed away, lingering his eyes on me before a sadistic smirk appeared on his face, causing me to flinch. "You're willing to fulfill my hunger." "Your room," Draven confirmed, opening a door to reveal a spacious and luxurious room with vintage yet contemporary furniture. The first thing that I noticed about my new bedroom was the large window, which seemed like the perfect way out for me to escape this godforsaken mansion. Everything was in black, including the painted walls and the luxurious chandelier that hung over my king-sized bed. The bed, however, was neatly wrapped up with a warm, peach-colored blanket with at least five pillows surrounding the headboard. As I stood gawking at my new room, I heard Draven grunt before giving me a slight push inside, sending me stumbling forward. I swiftly turned around and stood up straight before regaining my posture, realizing that I was still in a mansion full of bloodthirsty vampires. There was no time to admire or gloat over my new bedroom. "Your luggage only has the basic necessities; the clothes are provided by us, which are inside that wardrobe," he said, pointing his finger to a huge wardrobe that stood in the corner of the room, next to a door which I assumed was the bathroom. "Dinner will be ready soon. Eat if you want and..." "No, thank you. I'm not hungry," I cut him off, earning a glare from him. I quickly hung my head. "Scratch that; you don't have a choice," he corrected, his tone remaining harsh and rude. I slowly nodded, praying he would leave already so that I could at least take a shower and strip off this gown. "By midnight, you're going downstairs where my brothers will be waiting for you all," he instructed, causing a shiver to run down my spine. What was that supposed to mean? "You're going to..." "What's that supposed to mean?" I cut him off again. This time, he took a step forward, clearly irritated by the fact that I was interrupting him. I bit my bottom lip to shut myself up. "Last chance, doll-face. Don't interrupt when I'm talking," he warned. I nodded obediently, not even the least bit bothered by the new pet name I had just received. "You're going to please them until I return," he finished his sentence. My jaw dropped open at his words. "You..you mean..." "Yes, let them feed on you," he cut me off with no emotion in his voice, his face remaining unfazed by his own words. How could he be so disgusting and cruel? Forced to be his keeper was one thing, but in the meantime, I have to please his sick brothers as well? "Okay," I lied, turning away. I heard the door close shut before he disappeared. High speed: another power that the vampires possessed. As soon as he left, I walked over to the wardrobe before opening it and staring in awe. Clothes filled the entire closet and, on the bottom of the wardrobe, were a line of shoes and slippers. I opened two drawers and blushed furiously upon seeing the undergarments. They sure had everything planned and ready within a few hours. Were they planning to win us over with clothes and food? I rummaged through the clothes for at least fifteen minutes before a frustrated sigh escaped my lips. Although they were the trending fashion style, almost all these clothes were too revealing or short. Not that I mind short clothes or anything, but when you're living in a household full of bloodthirsty, most likely horny vampires, then yes yes I do mind. With a soft grumble, I grabbed a pair of white, ripped, high-waisted shorts with a light pink tank top and a white cardigan, finally giving in. I decided that the knit cardigan was just to conceal my bare arms. As soon as I was done, I rushed to the bathroom to take a shower. I was relieved to finally be able to get out of the tight and sweaty gown I was still wearing. I hated wearing this. As soon as I poured the water into the bathtub and stepped in, my body melted into the water. I closed my eyes and took a few deep breaths before biting the inside of my cheeks to force myself from breaking down again. It's been such a lonely night, so why can't it end already?Adriana's POV “How far are we going?” I asked softly, staring at the black jeep as everyone started getting inside. “As far away from here as possible, darling.” Francis looked at me as he buttoned up his shirt and I looked at Dexter, who was about to get in the jeep as well. “Dexter, please.” I suddenly felt desperate and found myself grabbing his upper arm. He stopped to look down at me and I clutched harder as he raised a brow at me. “Please what?” he asked impatiently and I bit my bottom lip, trying to find the right choice of words to say. “Let’s stay here? I’ll be good, I promise. I’ll help around at the mansion, I’ll even cook and clean. I won’t even try to run away so please,” I paused when he let out a sigh in annoyance. “Please don’t take my away.” I barely said out loud and stiffened when a hand caressed my cheeks. “Sweetheart, I wish you’d beg like that when you’re sleeping with me.” With a glare, I roughly brushed away his hand and watched him chuckle as
Adriana's POV I peeled my eyes open to stare up at a ceiling, my vision becoming more blurry as I squinted my eyes, trying to adjust to the new lights. What happened? With a painful groan, I sat up, ready to get up from wherever I was but froze when I noticed Dexter staring right at me, causing me to gasp before I crawled back on the bed. Wait, bed?! “What-” my breath hitched as I stared at the unfamiliar sheets on my legs before I darted my eyes around the familiar room. No, no, it can’t be. “How…” at this point, I could barely say anything and Dexter just sat still on the chair, right in front of the bed I was sitting on, his elbows firmly resting on his lap as he cocked an eyebrow at me. “It was about time you returned back to me, don’t you think?” his cocky attitude somehow pricked my nerves and I sent him a deadly glare, trying to remember what happened. All I remember is him backing me into a corner and then what happened? Did he drug me? Compelled me? When did I black ou
Adriana's POV “A joke? A joke that kept me up all night.” He hissed, his tall figure hovering over my body as I landed my gaze back on the ground. I glanced up a bit and went silent, the guilt finally kicking in when I noticed his exhausted form. Nevertheless, he still looked so perfect and hot, it was crazy how someone could be such a...hot mess. “I’m sorry?” It came out as a question and I could hear Draven hiss in annoyance. “You really-” he stopped, suddenly letting out a sigh before taking a step back, a hand making its way through his hair. “Never mind, don’t do something like that again.” He dropped down on the bed, another sigh escaping his lips. “I didn’t do it on purpose. I thought you’d come back in the room after a while and-” “Why would I? I thought you ran away, or worse, got kidnapped by-” he stopped and we both went silent for a few minutes before Draven slumped an arm over his forehead, closing his eyes. I noticed that he was still wearing his joggers from
Adriana's POV “Why are you still awake?” Draven’s sleepy voice almost made me gasp but I pressed my lips together into a thin line, my back still facing him as I remained silent. How the hell does he know?! Forget it, just pretend that you’re sleeping and- “You heartbeat is getting faster.” He mumbled and I cursed a million times in my head before continuing to ignore him. “Really, Adriana?” he sighs, slightly holding my shoulders and I gasped before sitting up straight, brushing away a few strands of hair away from my face in frustration. “I’m just not sleepy.” I lied and I watched him extend his arms to reach for the pillow, flexing his muscles in the process. “Right, try to sleep.” He muttered, shoving a pillow on his face and I turned my face away from him. Everything Lianna said, I should consider it. No matter how bitchy she can be sometimes, her words were true. “I’ll go grab a glass of water and come back.” I looked at Draven and I watched the pillow shake from side to si
Adriana's POV “I know, Adriana. I know Draven from the back of my hand and trust me when I tell you, he is breaking apart because of you,” she stopped when I shot her a deadly glare. “Of us. Maybe it’s hard for you to understand his feelings but it isn’t for me. How can you not see it?” “See what?!” I huffed angrily, folding my hands across my chest. “See that he’s hurting because of you. Can you not see that you are holding him back? Whenever he tries to settle his feelings with me, you get in the picture and confuse him. He’s going crazy because of you and yet you can’t even see it, can you? But you claim to be in love with him.” “I never said-” “You don’t have to say it, alright? Everyone in this goddamn mansion sees it other than Draven.” She raised her voice, her eyes flaring in anger as she spoke and I went silent at her words. “Are you done?” “No, are you? If so, then let him go already. You have done enough already, Adriana. I’ve seen him wide awake almost every
Adriana's POV Is this a dream or is Draven Cruz really kissing me right now? I started to squirm and was attempting to pull away but Draven held a firm grip on my neck, his lips pressed firmly on mine. I gripped his shirt and finally pulled away, trying to make a run for it but Draven easily caught my wrist, yanking me towards him before wrapping an arm around my waist securely. “Draven?!” “Yes?” Draven turned to look at Lianna and I could hear her scoff in disbelief before she glared at me, her mouth opening and shutting right up every few seconds. I’m guessing she’s having trouble speaking right now. “Di-did you just-ki-” Lianna stopped, her eyes slightly glistening in tears and I noticed Draven’s grip loosen from my waist as he took a step forward, a hint of guilt suddenly flickering in his eyes as Lianna disappeared from our sight. “Wh-why did you do that?” I asked but Draven was now staring off into space, an unreadable expression growing on his face before he turned
Adriana's Pov “Get off me!” I snapped with the last ounce of courage I had, pushing Draven off my body. He stood up, his face unfazed by everything that had just happened. I wiped away my tears before glaring at him with pure hatred.“Do you feel better?” he interrupted with a mumble. I stopped
Adriana's Pov “Y-yes.” I slightly stammered. I heard Vincent clear his throat before Edward started questioning my behavior.“What did she do now?” Edward asked. I watched Draven smirk at the question before shifting his gaze back to me.“What didn’t she do?” he corrected. I blushed slightly be
Adriana's Pov That night, Draven and I never spoke a word to one another, which relieved me immensely. I’m glad that he didn’t bring up the incident which happened this morning. That would be too awkward.“So Adriana, are you getting used to living together with us?” I heard Kevin’s voice and I
Adriana's Pov I stood next to him, struggling to even my heartbeats, and Vincent cleared his throat as we reached downstairs.“It’s so dark in here,” I stated, looking around the dark surroundings and sighed in relief when I noticed the dim light above us.“Why aren’t you asleep?” Vincent quest
