Chapter 2

Penulis: Serein M
The tension in the room vanished.

Nobody cared about my bleeding hands. They completely shut me out of their happy little bubble.

"Caleb," Freya leaned into his arms, happily stroking the silk dress. "When the festival is over and we go to the island, can I wear this on the beach for pictures?"

Diana immediately smiled warmly. "Of course, baby. The sun there will be great for your heart."

Caleb even reached out, gently tucking a loose hair behind Freya's ear.

"I'll have the private jet ready tomorrow." His voice was deep and doting. "Whatever you want, it's yours."

My breath hitched.

The private island. It was the Silvermane pack's most beautiful territory.

Four years ago, the night we confirmed our bond, Caleb kissed my forehead and promised it would be our honeymoon spot.

Four years later, he handed my dream over to another woman.

"Sienna," Freya suddenly turned, looking at me with big, innocent eyes. "We're going to the island for vacation. Are you coming?"

I saw the tiny, hidden smirk on her lips. My stomach churned.

I didn't want to ruin the mood. But watching their happy little family of three, I just felt it was ridiculous.

"I..." I took a deep breath, deciding to tell the truth. "In a few days, I'm going to the Guild—"

"Enough!"

Marcus barked, cutting me off impatiently. He frowned at me like I was a stranger causing trouble.

"Your business is none of ours! Sienna, I'm warning you, don't ruin Freya's mood!"

My throat burned.

The words—I'm leaving for fifteen years and never coming back—were swallowed down. Along with the last bit of love I had for this family. It died right there in that cold room.

I was so naive. They didn't care where I went. They didn't care if I lived or died.

"Freya is going home tomorrow." Marcus gave me a cold look. "Since you caused this, you deal with it. I'll tell the pack staff to prep the best guest suite on the first floor for Freya."

"Don't bother with the guest suite."

My voice was calm. So calm it surprised me.

The room went dead silent. Three pairs of eyes stared at me.

I met Marcus's gaze and said slowly, "Let Freya have the Luna suite."

Marcus froze. Caleb's hand, which was touching Freya's hair, stopped.

He turned around, his brows pulled tight, his eyes full of pain and annoyance.

"Sienna, what game are you playing now?" Caleb stood up. His huge frame was intimidating, his voice full of hopeless disappointment. "Giving up the Luna suite? You think playing games with our mate bond is funny? I just want Freya to recover in peace. Why can't you be understanding? When did you get so petty?"

"I'm not playing games." I looked at the Alpha I had loved for years. "I'm not staying at the main house anyway. The Luna suite suits her better."

Smash!

Marcus furiously grabbed a glass from the table and slammed it into the floor. Glass flew everywhere. A piece sliced into my calf.

"Get out!" Marcus pointed at the door, veins popping on his forehead. He shoved me toward the hallway, his rough grip tearing at my shoulder. "Get out! I'm sick of your disgusting guilt trips! If you want to put on a show, do it outside!"

I looked down at the blood trickling down my leg. Then I bent down and picked up my cheap canvas bag.

"Goodbye."

I whispered the words through an aching throat.

Nobody answered. Caleb was already sitting back down next to Freya, comforting her because the broken glass "scared" her.

I walked out and shut the door tight.

Cold wind blew through the hospital hallway.

I remembered years ago, when the pack was attacked and almost wiped out. Caleb was covered in blood, his eyes red. He held me tight in the middle of the warzone.

"Sienna, as long as I breathe, you are my only mate. My future Luna. I swear."

Liars. All of them.

I tipped my head back, forcing the tears away.

No time to cry. I rushed out of the hospital and spent the whole night at the academy lab. Before I left for good, I had to wipe five years of research data clean.

I stayed up all night.

By the time I dragged my exhausted body back to the main house, the sun was up. Less than six days until lockdown.

I walked straight into the Luna suite, pulled out a suitcase, and started tossing in some clothes like a robot.

"Miss Sienna, what are you doing?"

The Omega maid's eyes went wide. She rushed over to help me pack. Watching me empty my life out of the room, her eyes turned red. She grumbled angrily.

"How could they? The future Luna, moving out? Giving the Luna suite to an outsider! You can't just give up!"

I looked at her righteous anger and smiled. I had no anger left. No feeling wronged. Just dead, cold clarity.

"It's fine," I zipped the bag. "I won't be here much longer anyway."

But behind me, a cold Alpha voice broke the silence.

"Where exactly do you think you're going?"
