MasukLaura's POV."What do you think your babies will look like?" Jasper asked, making me giggle at his words. The cashier packed my stuff and we stepped out of the store."I honestly don't know. My babies might actually look like their father or me but regardless I still don't care about that.”"I hope the babies get your smile. Your smile should be one of the most beautiful smiles I have ever seen. I admire it so much.”"What if the baby gets Lucas's serious face? I mean my fiancée can be so serious at times.”"I guess I have no other option than to pray for the babies," he joked. I bursted out laughing so hard that people turned to look at us."You shouldn't say that. That man is my life, I don't joke with him.”"I'm only teasing you. I know how much he matters to you.”“It's okay Jasper. You don't have to apologize, I can sense the sarcasm already.”“Oh my Gosh, Laura. I am so sorry that I let you carry the shopping bag, please hand it over to me.” he said as he quickly grabbed the sho
Laura's POV.I was so bored, despite watching television and going through my phone. The boredom wouldn't reduce.Everything was so boring for me and it made every minute longer. I even went on to read a novel, but it wasn't helping matters. So I just lost hope and I dropped the novel on my thighs. The next idea was to pick up my phone again. Probably I would just watch some tik tok videos whilst waiting for Lucas, but the idea wasn't the right one.Immediately I held my phone in my hand. I threw it back on the couch, our new maid Lucas hired to take care of me peeped into the living room again.I was pregnant but everyone treated me as if I was sick, which I understood very well. I mean who wouldn't want healthy babies?"Are you talking to yourself again, ma'am?" she asked. I laughed at her."I think I'm losing my mind from being so bored." I replied."That is because Sir Lucas told you to rest?""I have been resting for a very long time.""You have only been walking from the bedroom
Lucas POV.I looked at Vanessa like I had never known her. She was my ex wife, she was Zara's biological mother.“Get out of my office right now. I don't want to see your disgusting face.” I said.“You can't just kick me out of your office. I mean it has been years and we are finally seeing ourselves, so try to be a little bit considerate. Don't let your anger overwhelm you.” she said and I chuckled at her words.“I shouldn't let my anger overwhelm me? You lied to me for years and you literally watched me raise a child believing she was biologically mine. I got to find out the truth that Zara isn't my biological daughter.”“At least you know the truth now. I even thought you would have known it sooner but whatever the case is, you got to know the truth.”“You are not even remorseful for what you have done? How evil and self-centered can you be as a woman?” I lashed out at her, as Zara appeared behind her, calling out to me."Dad?"My entire body stiffened when I landed my eyes on Zara
Lucas's POV.Since I arrived in my office. My mind has been on Laura but I just quickly had to come to the office to settle some jobs I hadn't done yet.I have been working so much and when I finally decided to rest. I realized that I had even done the jobs that were meant for yesterday. So it meant that there was no foul waiting for me and there were no emails that demanded my attention. Neither did I have any meetings or any contracts to sign on.I picked up the last document on my desk anyway. It was an old habit of mine to cross check everything I do. I scanned it one more time before dropping it into the other pile of files.I heard enough on my office door. Then I looked up as I granted permission to the person knocking on the door. “Come in.” I said as my new assistant pushed the door open with a tablet placed under his arm.Laura still wanted to work with me as my secretary. But I told her she should just rest until she has given birth and then she can join me in the office.
Laura's POV.“You were saying something sir, I didn't quite hear you” one of Lucas' men said as we were both seated in the parlour."I am saying that the next time she wants to leave this building, you call me first. You don't let her walk out alone. Do you understand? Also, thank you for looking into Jasper.”"Yes, sir," he answered."I don't want excuses.""There won't be any." he said before leaving and I turned to Lucas.“I didn't want to say this in front of your man. But I have to say it in front of you because I do not like the way you spoke to Jasper.” I said.“What the hell, Laura? Are you going to get angry at me because of another man that was with you and I did not like it.”“I am not a baby Lucas. Even if you're concerned about me you cannot just go around harassing anybody you see there. You spoke to him so rudely and thought he was trying to harm me when he was not even trying to do that. The only thing he was trying to do was keep me company.” “If you're going to stan
Lucas's POV.The moment I stepped into the cafe, my eyes searched for only one person. She was the only person I needed to see at that moment, I was so worried sick about her. When I couldn't find Laura at home, I panicked for so many reasons. She was pregnant but definitely more careless than when she wasn't pregnant. She thought that she could just do anything how she wanted. I spotted her near the bar, her one hand was placed on her stomach, the way it was placed, no one would even know she was pregnant except from someone who already knows. She had such a radiant beauty and glow. I knew it all came with her pregnancy but I was tempted to give her more babies after these babies.I kept on admiring her, up till the extent that I smiled. I was already getting weird stares from the few people in the cafe. They would think I was a creep who was staring at a woman from afar. But they wouldn't know I was admiring the woman in my life. Then all of a sudden, I noticed she wasn't alone.A
Lucas's POV.Weeks passed, but that night refused to loosen its grip on me. It refused to stay where it belonged. That night would always stay in the quiet moments that I had to myself. In the spaces between my meetings and in the way my body reacted before my mind could stop it. I had slept with
Laura's POV.I woke up suddenly, my body jerking like I had fallen from somewhere high. For a few seconds, I just laid there, staring at the ceiling. My heart raced for no clear reason, the room felt unfamiliar to me but not enough to scare me, yet my body felt wrong. It felt heavy and used. I felt
Laura's pov.The alcohol burned in my veins. It was louder than my thoughts. I knew this wasn't me. Not the sober me. Not the careful girl who over thought everything and apologized too much. But the alcohol didn't care about who I usually was. It peeled me open and let something reckless breathe.
Laura's POV.For a split second, after my palm connected with Chad's face. People stared at me in awe, like no one trusted what they had just seen. The old Laura would have apologized by now. She would have cried. She would have begged him to understand. She would have folded herself into something
