“Just tell me what to do to change your mind. I’ll do anything to make it right. Please… don’t leave me. Don’t break us apart.” “Would you stop interrupting me when I speak?” Kayden growled. Aria flinched at the harshness in his voice, a tone she had never heard from her husband before. It cut deep, but she refused to back down. This was Jayden—her Jayden. Whatever storm had overtaken him, she would weather it. She had to. Driven by pure desperation and love, she tightened her arms around him, pressing her body flush against his. She stared up at him with wide, shimmering eyes, then slowly, sensually licked her lips the way she had once read about in those late-night articles meant to “rekindle the spark". Kayden’s breath hitched. Her soft curves moulded against his chest, and her scent—sweet lavender warmed by sunlit skin—wrapped around him like a drug. Kayden felt her soft moulds pressed against him, and an intoxicating sweetness of her feminine scent filled his nostrils and enveloped him, igniting memories that sent his heart racing and his throat feeling dry, causing all the blood in his veins to rush in a certain direction. He could feel that part of his body come alive. He thought he hated her; he thought he didn't even want to breathe in the same air as her after what she did to him years ago… destroying the future he had foolishly imagined when she chose his twin. But why was he responding to her touches and obvious provocation? Blood rushed hot through his veins, his body betraying him even as hatred burned in his chest. Why her? Why now? “Get out,” he snarled, the words laced with finality. “Please don’t reject me,” Aria whispered, her voice cracking as fresh tears welled up. “I can’t take it, hubby. Make love to me as you used to… or any way you want. I’m yours. Just don’t kick me out of this room.” Something inside Kayden shifted. A chilling aura radiated from him. His gaze turned predatory, dark and dangerous, like a panther stalking wounded prey. Jealousy and possessiveness roared through him. ‘She was supposed to be mine. Mine alone. Not Jayden’s. Not anyone’s,’ he inwardly roared the words to himself. And yet here she was, offering herself so shamelessly to him—thinking he was his brother. The more Kayden's mind drifted to the past, the more anger he felt; in the next second, something snapped within him. He began to crave something he thought he had long forgotten. He began to crave all those things he had once yearned for but had decided to lock away in that deep, dark part of his heart. He was tired of being the cursed one, the one who was left behind, the substitute…the replacement. He wanted to be the main character now; he didn't want to keep living in the shadows any longer. But most importantly, he wanted her; he wanted her to beg and scream as she writhed under him. He wanted it all. “Fine,” he said, the single word cold as steel. Relief washed over Aria’s face like a drowning woman breaking the surface. “Thank you, babe,” she breathed. She rose on her tiptoes to kiss him, but the deathly glare he gave her stopped her cold. Heart pounding, she redirected at the last second, pressing a weak, trembling kiss to his chin instead. “You will obey me,” Kayden commanded, his voice low and authoritative. “You do nothing without my permission. Understand?” Aria nodded quickly, swallowing hard. “I understand.” She told herself this was just Jayden in pain—maybe stressed, maybe manipulated by his family. One night of passion and he would come back to her. He always did. “Don’t you dare regret this later,” Kayden warned, his expression emotionless. Then, without warmth, he issued the order: "Strip". The word hit Aria like thunder. She stiffened, a flicker of unease twisting in her stomach. His voice sounded… different. Colder. But she pushed the doubt away. ‘Something is wrong with him tonight. Just please him. Tomorrow, when he’s calm, you can talk about the papers.’ “Yes,” she whispered to herself. “Just surrender tonight.” When she moved too slowly, Kayden sneered. “Don’t you understand simple English? Get out if you don’t want to. Don’t waste my time.” “No—wait… I want to,” she said hurriedly. Her fingers fumbled behind her back, finding the zipper. The sound of it descending echoed loudly in the silent suite. She pushed the white dress off her shoulders, letting it pool at her feet. Black lace underwear remained. With shaky hands, she reached back again, unclasped her bra, and let it fall. Her full, perky breasts spilt free, pink nipples tightening in the cool air. Heat flooded her cheeks. She had never felt this exposed with him before. Usually, it was under soft sheets, lights dimmed, his gentle encouragement guiding her. Tonight felt raw. Dangerous. Still, she hooked her thumbs into her panties and slid them down her legs, stepping out until she stood completely bare before him. Her hands fluttered uselessly at her sides. She shifted her weight, toes curling against the carpet, posture slightly slanted in instinctive shyness. Kayden drank in the sight—her narrow waist, wide hips, smooth skin, and the gentle curve of her breasts. She was breathtaking. He forced his expression to remain cold, swallowing the unwanted surge of desire. ‘She’s pretending. All of this is for Jayden.’ He stepped closer. “Kneel.” Aria lowered herself to her knees without protest, heart racing. His polished shoes and tailored pants filled her vision. “Unbuckle my belt,” he ordered, voice rough. “And show me how good that mouth is.”The bright lights of the agency’s main boardroom felt blinding.Cara sat at the head of the polished mahogany table, staring at the glossy mood boards for the new high-end fashion line.Beside her, Natalie, the agency's top model, was animatedly discussing the vision for the upcoming campaign.“I think the theme of ‘Pure Elegance’ really resonates,” Natalie said, flashing a flawless smile. “It’s all about looking perfect on the outside, no matter the chaos behind the scenes. What we wear usually speaks volumes…”Natalie kept talking, but Cara wasn't paying attention anymore. Her mind kept repeating Natalie's earlier words, “Perfect on the outside.”It described her current situation exactly.Cara’s hand drifted instinctively toward her abdomen. A stay-at-home nurse was currently unpacking her bags at the Davis mansion. Her mother-in-law was counting down the hours of her ovulation window. And Lucas was out there, proudly telling the world a lie that would destroy them all if it came t
Cara barely touched her supper. The memory of Martin’s thumb brushing her lip in the hotel lounge kept replaying in her mind, sending unwelcome heat through her body. Lucas hadn't returned from work, which she was grateful for. The thought of seeing him after she and Martin nearly kissed made a knot form in her stomach. “Why aren’t you eating?” Madam Davis asked from across the table, bringing Cara to the present. She noticed her father-in-law's gaze on her too. Cara let out a small cough. “Nothing, my appetite has been bad lately.” “If you're craving something else, you can tell the cook to prepare it for you; don't be so reserved,” her father-in-law said, making Cara give him an uncomfortable nod. She could hear the double meaning of the man's words. Since she was pregnant, she'd have cravings, and she had to alert the kitchen. “I'll do that when the need arises, Father," Cara said quietly. “You should; we're hoping for you to have a healthy baby.” Cara nearly choked on her
6Cara barely slept. The weight of Madam Davis’s words and Martin’s persistent texts coiled in her stomach like live wires. By morning, every movement felt heavy, as if the lie she was now forced to carry had physical mass. She was sipping coffee in the sunlit breakfast nook when Madam Davis swept in, dressed impeccably in a cream silk blouse. The older woman didn’t waste time on pleasantries. “Your ovulation window starts in two days,” she said without preamble, her voice low enough that only Cara would hear. “You don’t have the luxury of hesitation, Cara. I’ve arranged a discreet option if you need it. A clean, healthy man. No questions asked. You wouldn't need to do the physical act.” Cara’s grip tightened on her mug until her knuckles whitened. “I told you I’d handle it.” Madam Davis’s smile was thin and sharp. “Then handle it. Lucas is already telling people the good news. If this pregnancy doesn’t become real soon, the questions will start—” “What questions?” Lucas, who
5Cara waited until they were alone in the upstairs sitting room before she turned on her mother-in-law like a cornered animal.“What the hell was that?” she hissed, keeping her voice low so the maids wouldn’t hear. “Pregnant? Two weeks? Are you out of your mind?”Madam Davis didn’t flinch. She sat gracefully on the velvet sofa, crossing her legs as if they had simply been discussing the weather.“You should be thanking me,” the older woman said coolly. “That doctor’s report would have destroyed this family. Now we have a way out.”“A way out?” Cara laughed bitterly, tears of frustration burning her eyes. “You just told my husband I’m carrying his child when we both know that’s impossible right now! What happens when this lie blows up in our faces?”Madam Davis’s gaze sharpened. “It won’t blow up if you do what you’re told. You will make this pregnancy real, Cara. I can arrange a healthy man for you. Sleep with him tomorrow. Every night until it happens.”Cara stared at her in disbeli
Madam Davis stepped out of the car into the parking lot of First Class Hospital, her shoulders slumped and her face etched with defeat. The truth about her son's condition had grown heavier on her chest. Madam Davis had turned deathly pale. The doctor even recommended Intravaginal Insemination (IVI) using donor semen. He had given them an encouraging smile. “If your husband doesn't want to adopt, you can try that. In fact, your ovulation window begins in three days. I strongly advise you to take full advantage of it. Reduce stress as much as possible and—” Cara barely registered the rest of the advice. Her mind reeled. She was healthy. All the blame, the insults, the years of silent judgment… It had never been her fault. “Shouldn't we call Lucas and tell him the results?” Cara asked the older woman. Madam Davis glared at her.“We can tell Lucas later when he comes home. Do you think this is something that should be discussed over the phone? How insensitive.” Cara bit back a res
After the most awkward ride in Cara’s life, she and Madam Davis arrived at First Class Hospital's parking lot. She had just stepped out of the car and was waiting for the older woman to come down too when she froze at the mention of her name. Cara would recognise Martin’s voice anywhere, but for the love of God, why did she have to run into him here today of all days? Especially since she was in the company of her mother-in-law. She pretended not to hear him calling her name, but her hair stood on end as his approaching footsteps grew louder. “Cara—” Martin had barely gotten the word out when Madam Davis cut in sharply from the side. “Cara, who is this man?” Cara’s heart slammed against her ribs. Without missing a beat, she turned to Martin with a blank, polite expression. “I don’t know him.” The words hit Martin like a slap. His dark eyes widened in shock, his jaw tightening visibly. Before he could recover, Cara dropped the final blow. “I’m sorry, but have we met before?”

Kayden's secret organization base… Earlier that day around 7:00 am… “Let me out of here! I'm not your prisoner… I want to see Kayden! I'm going to tell Kayden how all of you treated me in his absence!” Samantha yelled hoarsely, clutching the iron bars tightly as her knuckles turned white and her w
Aria couldn't make out Kayden's words from behind the glass walls, but she could tell from his expression that whatever call he received didn't contain good news. She saw Kayden say some words before hanging up and approaching the door with a neutral look on his face. Kayden closed the glass d
“Now we just have a teeny tiny problem. How are we going to escape from Dad? Do you have any bright ideas?” Kayden asked, and Aria gave him a mischievous smile. “I thought you'd never ask. Just leave Dad to me; I'll be right back,” she said and turned her back to him. “Would you help me with my z
