LOGINEmily was stunned for a while but she quickly recovered.
The man in front of him was also good-looking.
His eyes sparked along with his smile.
“Welcome, Emily.” He said in a very expressive voice.
This must be Warren Adam!
Emily smiled awkwardly but a part of her, she still felt something was inexplicably off in the atmosphere.
“Thank you,” She tried to be so kind to the people she had met in this house.
“This is my brother, Warren.” Charles interrupted as his hand tapped the other man’s shoulder. “He is your young master.” He ended with an unreadable smirk.
Unlike Warren, Charles had an unfathomable expression.
Warren’s smile was warm and his expression became full of life upon seeing Emily.
He was like that before the accident.
Charles noticed his brother’s expression and he felt satisfied.
Though he didn’t like the girl he chose, Charles just wanted Warren to be back to life.
He started to see it with Emily’s presence in the house.
He just hoped that he could tolerate this woman inside his mansion because toleration wasn’t in his dictionary except for his own brother.
She should behave!
“Nice to meet you, sir…boss… master…” Emily answered confused about what to call him.
She regretted this awkwardness made by herself but it was too late.
A cracking laugh suddenly echoed inside the room.
Warren laughed his heart out.
Still confused, she looked at Warren and then Charles.
She wanted him to help her but Charles just looked at her emptily.
“Warren…” After the laughing, Warren managed to calm himself. It was the best laugh he ever had after the accident!
“Please, just call me Warren.” He corrected her with gentleness in his tone while his eyes were misty due to excessive laughing earlier.
“But…” Emily was more confused.
She didn’t feel it was appropriate to call him by his name.
He was also a young master in the mansion.
He was Charles’s brother!
He was her boss and she was the servant.
It was so awkward for her to call him just Warren.
Emily looked at Charles.
Through her stare, she was sending a message asking for help but he just simply nodded.
“Well, War… Warren should be.” She forced a faint smile. “Please just call me, Emi…” She added in exchange.
Warren’s wheelchair suddenly made its way to her.
It stopped in front a half meter away.
Then Warren extended his hand to her. “Nice meeting you, Emi.”
Warren was overwhelmed to hear her nickname.
The girl he saw in the bar was Emily Greyson and her nickname was Emi.
What an angelic name!
Warren was so happy.
Emily looked at his hand.
She was full of hesitation but when her gaze swept Charles's frowning expression, she gave in.
She shook hands with Warren but the latter didn’t let her hand go easily.
“I believe you are the one who can cure me,” Warren spoke openly before he finally let go of her hand.
Emily’s heart skipped a beat.
After the simple greeting, Charles went out with Emily.
Outside, two maids were waiting silently head low.
Charles instructed them to bring Emily to her room then he walked away without looking back at Emily.
Like a giraffe, Emily’s neck and head followed Charles’s back.
She was just so curious…
Where is his room in this mansion?
What does it look like?
What does his bed look like?
What does he look like when sleeping in his bed?
“Ms. Emi, please follow us.” The maid’s voice snapped back her senses.
“Ah…” She muttered quite embarrassed.
Then she quickly ran forward to be with them.
The one was smiling and the other was some kind of annoyed at her.
Unbothered, Emily smiled at the maid who gave her a warm smile. “What’s your name?” She asked giving her a warm smile also.
“Ms. Emi, my name is Lizzy… Lizzy Miller but you can call me, Liz.” She answered with a very friendly tone. “These are sets of your uniforms and some clothes. Also, some basic necessities you may need.” She then gave Emily a huge white box.
“It was nice to meet you, Liz. Hope we can be friends.” Emily felt Liz was a good person, unlike the other one who had a poker face. She decided not to ask her.
“This is Rebecca… Rebecca Lewk.” Liz seemed to feel the tension between the two women so she voluntarily introduced the old maid to the new one.
Emily looked at Rebecca and smiled but Rebecca remained silent with her poker face.
“Let’s just finish this quick! One should know that it was too late for chit-chat. We still haven’t slept just to wait for another maid.” Rebecca then muttered mockingly opening the room to Emily’s room.
Emily clearly heard Rebecca.
At that moment, she knew that Rebecca was up to no good.
Before Emily got inside her room, she looked at Rebecca and said, “If you have a problem with that, then blame it on your young master, Charles. He brought me here this late.” Emily said in a firm tone. “Or I can tell him directly for you.” Emily’s tone was full of sarcasm.
Liz's mouth was ajar.
This woman is tough and cannot be easily bullied!
She thought.
“Who do you think you are?” Rebecca raised her voice and her eyebrow twitched upward. “You are just a maid just like us so don’t think you are special just because our young master brought you here.” Rebecca paused and released a grin of mockery. “You are just a pawn and I’ll bet you will not last 1 week just like the other servants of the young master Warren. So stop your daydreaming just what you did earlier.” Rebecca then laughed belittling Emily.
“Rebecca, enough.” Liz quickly stopped her but Emily raised her hand at Liz.
She had managed a lot of struggles in her life.
This rude maid is just nothing!
“Will see about that, Rebecca.” Emily calmly answered but her tone was full of sarcasm. “I will try my best to last more than a week so I’m not going to embarrass myself… And thanks for the warning but I prefer that you mind your own business next time. Goodnight!” Emily winked at Liz and closed her door without waiting for Rebecca to respond.
That night, Emily put the selfie picture of her and Charles as her phone wallpaper.
She felt delighted seeing it and she kissed the screen.
She kept on turning and jumping on her bed with the thoughts of her in Charles’s mansion.
She giggled and chuckled silently hugging her fluffy soft pillow.
For her, another chapter of her life was opened.
A wonderful chapter with her darling superstar!
The next morning was her first day of work but Emily was still caught in her dream.
“Oh, Charles, I love you so much!” Her smile was radiant showing a woman who is so in love.
“I love you more, Emily,” Charles replied lovingly.
They were holding each other hands walking, laughing, basking in the sun together until the sound of her alarm clock broke in.
She quickly jumped out of the bed.
She quickly showered and then went to the kitchen to get Warren’s breakfast from his dietitian.
Every morning, she didn’t need to cook.
The family dietitian and chef would prepare the family’s meals delicately.
The maid's kitchen was different from the main kitchen.
“Good morning, Emi!” Liz was the first to greet her with a smile.
“Good morning, Liz!” Emily added cheerfully.
Rebecca yawned like she reminded Emily that she didn’t get enough sleep because of her.
They were cleaning the entire mansion together with the other 4 maids in the distance.
Emily ignored Rebecca.
It’s a brand-new day.
Emily was excited for 2 things.
Firstly, her graduation was coming.
She could not wait to finish college, find a professional job, become a top-notch architect, and get a higher salary from her earned work. In that way, she could claim back her house even if her dad would put it to court, she could fight fairly.
She was not scared anymore!
Secondly, she was inside Charles’s mansion.
Until now, she felt everything was in her dream.
She was living with the superstar.
Who could anyone believe that?
Her fate kept on surprising her!
When she got out of her room, her eyes quickly wandered around hoping to see Charles first thing in the morning but he was to no avail. She was tickled with her thoughts seeing him still sleeping handsomely in his bed.
Walking in a hallway with a tray in her hands, she was giggling inside.
Still felt like the luckiest fan in the universe!
She wanted to take pictures of everything she saw in every corner of Charle’s mansion and that huge portrait of his family but she quickly got rid of it.
There was always a right time for that!
'Good morning, Mom!'
'Good morning, Dad!'
She hummed standing in front of Charles's parents in the huge portrait again.
Emily gave them the sweetest smile and then strode in the stair's direction.
But.... a gust of warm wind touched her face from the outside.
A huge beige curtain flew open a little and back.
She quickly put the tray in a foyer and sneaked out.
Indeed, a sliding glass door was left ajar.
The view outside is amazing!
There was a huge infinity pool and a garden surrounded by palm trees.
The different colors of flowers, the blue water, and the greeneries collided together giving a fresh natural atmosphere.
'Such a calm view!'
Emily breathed filling up her lungs with fresh air until her eyes landed on something…
It’s a man…
It’s Charles!
Emily immediately was taken aback.
She ran outside in a hurry screaming his name.
“Charles!”
“Charles! Are you okay?”
“Answer me!”
“Charles! You are making me nervous!”
“Please answer me!”
She panicked.
The man didn’t move a hair.
His body was floating face down and his arm stretched.
Did he drown?
Is he dead?
Emily quickly got rid of the thoughts and jumped into the water to save him.
She quickly touched his naked arm muscle without hesitation.
It is so hard!
Though it’s wet she felt electrocuted.
Her millions of hormones seemed to move crazily around her body giving her millions of tingling sensations.
“What are you doing?!” Charles in a rage voice snapped her out.
He splashed her with water and drew a distance from the person who just disturbed his water meditation.
This person who dared to touch him should be fired but then upon seeing it was the new girl, he could only control his annoyance.
“I’m… I’m sorry, Charles! I didn’t know you are…” Emily said with burning cheeks.
At that time, she knew she was doomed.
“Charles?!” He frowned eyes belittling her impatiently but then his eyes could not help but travel to her wet healthy breast.
Charles’s Adams apple suddenly moved.
Six years ago, Emily had escaped the flames.Brian had been her lifeline. He contacted her before the wedding day, and together they plotted a plan. When the car exploded at the university, she used the secret passage in the old building, pulling herself away from the chaos. The remains left behind, the dismantled CCTV cameras, and the falsified investigation report… all orchestrated by Brian’s uncle, the head of the investigation department… were designed to convince the world she had died.Emily ran away with a shattered heart, but her spirit was hopeful. For the first time, she tasted freedom… the life she had always wanted, away from the Adams.Brian took over his father’s company abroad, starting from scratch. Emily stood beside him, helping him build it until they grew together into success. When the news reached them that Warren had lost his legs and was now totally paralyzed, Brian felt justice had been served. Warren had once burned their family’s house out of jealousy, forci
The next morning, the world was ablaze with headlines. Every major station, magazine, and online platform was filled with images of Charles…his anguished cries, his desperate fight at the burning wreckage. Search engines overflowed with clips of him kneeling, screaming Emily’s name. The superstar was trending everywhere, not for his fame or fortune, but for his heartbreak.Later that day, in a massive venue packed with reporters, anchors, and flashing cameras, Charles strode onto the stage. He wore a pristine white suit, his presence commanding, his face effortlessly handsome like a Greek god carved in marble. His walk was unhurried, his aura cool and controlled. The clicking of cameras filled the air as the crowd held its breath. He sat down, exhaling heavily, frustration etched across his features. His eyes were deep, shadowed from sleepless nights, filled with sorrow and determination. Slowly, he raised a photo. It was Emily.“I am looking for this woman,” his voice rang out, stead
Emily’s arms tightened around him, her body trembling. She didn’t look back. She couldn’t. Every step away from Charles felt like a knife cutting deeper into her chest, but she forced herself forward. This was her sacrifice. She didn’t turn around, didn’t glance back. Her eyes burned with tears she refused to let fall.Warren dragged Emily toward his car, his grip possessive, his madness unrelenting. “Come on, love. Our honeymoon starts now. Forget him. He’s nothing. You chose me, remember?” His voice was both triumphant and broken, as if he couldn’t believe his victory was real.Emily’s heart twisted as she glanced back at the church façade. Charles was still inside. Her lips trembled as she whispered so softly only she could hear, “Forgive me, Charles…”Warren’s car sped away into the day.Inside, the priest and his assistant rushed to help Charles stand. His body staggered under the weight of pain, but his eyes burned with fury. He pulled out his phone, his voice sharp and commandi
“I said skip to it, Father! Finish this ceremony right now!” Warren barked, his voice echoing through the church. He didn’t care what Emily said anymore. He didn’t want to waste time. For him, the only thing that mattered was marrying her today so Charles could never take her away. The priest’s hands trembled as he lifted the book. His voice shook. “Now I pronounce you husband and…”“Stop this nonsense wedding right now!”The doors burst open with a force like a storm. Everyone froze. Emily’s eyes widened as she turned toward the voice. Her heart leapt. It was Charles. She never thought he could find them so quickly. She had believed she would be trapped, forced into marriage with Warren. But Charles had come. He was alive, unbroken, defiant. He had escaped his grandfather’s men.“Charles!!!” Warren’s face twisted in shock. His words tumbled out in a rush. “How did you get here so fast? I changed the church! How, Charles, how? Why are you here? Can’t you just let the priest finish our
The gunshot echoed like thunder. For a moment, no one moved. The room froze in silence, every breath held. Nancy’s trembling hands lowered slightly, her eyes wide, her face pale. The gun slipped from her grip and clattered to the floor.Charles stood still, his forehead untouched, his chest rising and falling with steady breaths. Emily clung to him, her heart pounding so hard she thought it might burst. Then the chaos broke. The old man’s men rushed forward, seizing Nancy before she could reach for the weapon again. She screamed, her voice cracking between laughter and sobs. “No! Let me go! Charles, you’re mine! You’re mine!” Her words dissolved into madness as she struggled against their grip. The old man’s cane struck the floor, his voice sharp and commanding. “Enough! Take her away!” His men obeyed, dragging Nancy out as she kicked and screamed, her cries echoing down the hall until they faded.Emily’s knees weakened. Charles could have died. She looked at his back and silently tha
The old man’s men surged forward, their hands reaching to tear Emily away from Charles. But Charles held her tight, pulling her to the side, trying to shield her from their grasp.“Charles, let go of Emily! I don’t want you to get hurt!” Nancy cried out, her voice trembling with worry.“Emily, come back to me! Let go of Charles now!” Warren shouted, desperate to seize the chance he thought had opened for him.Emily’s chest tightened. She looked at Charles, overwhelmed by his determination to protect her. She didn’t know how to thank him, didn’t know how to express the flood of emotions inside her.“Emily, hold my hand tightly and let’s go!” Charles urged, snapping her back to her senses. He dragged her toward the other side of the room, but another group of men blocked their path. The old man had anticipated this. He was ready. The men closed in, their eyes fixed on Emily. Charles stepped forward, driving her behind him.“Emily… is this what you want?” The old man’s voice cut through
