Chapter 4

Aвтор: Nameless
Linda had always believed that I was the one shamelessly freeloading off Jason’s luxury car every day, while secretly trying to seduce her boyfriend.

How ridiculous.

As she spoke, Linda turned around and loudly announced to her friends, “Do you know how shameless this woman is?

“She clings to my boyfriend’s car every single day. We couldn’t get rid of her no matter what we did!

“I even put up a note telling her not to ride in my boyfriend’s car anymore, but she got furious and called the police, accusing my boyfriend of mistreating an employee.

“He had no choice but to protect the company’s reputation, so every day, he takes me to work first, then drives back to pick her up.

“I’ve never encountered such a shameless b*tch before!”

My eyes widened instantly.

No wonder Jason had been late every day recently.

He had secretly been picking up Linda first, then coming back for me.

What a joke.

‘Jason, you really did take me for a fool. Since you chose to play me, don’t blame me for what happens next!’

Right there, I pulled out my phone and called the company’s legal department.

“Get a team here immediately. Come to my Peach Blossom Villa—”

Before I could finish, Linda suddenly snatched my phone and smashed it onto the ground.

“You shameless woman! Why are you pretending to be so important?

“Your villa? Bullsh*t! This is my boyfriend’s place!”

Linda’s friends immediately joined in, looking at me with disgust.

“See? She’s exactly the kind of shameless woman we thought she was. She hasn’t even managed to marry into wealth, yet she’s already treating someone else’s villa like her own?”

“Some people are just that pathetic. The moment they see a rich man, they can’t wait to throw themselves at him. Disgusting!”

“Linda, you’re way too kind. If I were dealing with someone like her, I would’ve torn her mouth apart already!”

Linda became even more confident after she listened to them. She grabbed my collar and pulled me closer.

“Did you hear that? Everyone thinks you’re shameless.”

Then, her eyes suddenly fell on the jade pendant necklace around my neck. Her expression brightened.

“That necklace looks expensive. Did you get it by selling yourself to some rich guy?”

The moment she finished speaking, she yanked hard and ripped the necklace off my neck.

Linda was too fast and too forceful. Before I could react, the necklace was already in her hand.

My expression changed instantly. “Give it back!”

Linda sneered when she noticed how anxious I was. “You’re that desperate for it? Looks like this necklace is worth quite a lot.”

I panicked and quickly replied, “It’s not valuable, but it means a lot to me. Please, just give it back.”

I reached out to take it from her.

That jade pendant necklace was the protective charm my mother had obtained for me at the cost of her own life.

I had been weak and sickly since childhood. When I was four years old, I became critically ill and was hospitalized. I was unconscious for days.

The doctors told my parents to prepare for the worst.

My mother could not accept losing me, so she went to a temple to pray for my recovery.

To show her sincerity, she climbed the mountain in the scorching hundred-degree summer heat, kneeling and praying with every step from the foot of the mountain all the way to the top.

She continued until her knees were torn and bleeding, until the bones beneath her skin were almost visible, until her knuckles were covered in blood, and until she could barely stay conscious. Only then did she receive this jade pendant necklace.

Perhaps even Heaven was moved by my mother’s devotion.

The child who had been unconscious for so long miraculously woke up.

However, my mother became seriously ill because of it.

Before she passed away, she placed the necklace in my hands and told me to treasure it forever.

I treasured this necklace more than anything and had carried it with me everywhere since I was a child.

It was something my mother had traded her life for. It was what I cared most about in the world.

I would never allow anyone to lay a finger on it!

“The more you want it, the more I want to destroy it.”

After hesitating for a moment, Jason looked at me and pleaded, “Miss Silva, do we really have to take things this far?“Please! For my father’s sake, and for all the years he spent driving for you, can you let this go?”I looked at Jason coldly.“Why would I do you that favor? Jason, do you have any idea what you’re asking? Do you honestly think I still have any respect left for you?“I’m firing you today.“Instead of wasting your energy begging for someone else, you should think about how you’re going to save yourself.”Then, I turned around and walked away without looking back.In the end, Linda and those who could not afford the compensation were sued and sent to prison.Jason was convicted of fraud, malicious property damage, and unlawful entry. Due to the multiple charges against him, he received a combined sentence of five years in prison.Linda was sentenced to three years for assault and intentional property damage. Those of her friends who failed to pay their share o

Once the damaged sofas and carpets were added in, the total came to $20 million.Everyone’s faces went pale the moment they heard the number.$20 million was an unimaginable amount of money to every person in the room. There was no way they could afford it. Unable to pay, they resorted to shameless excuses.“You’re already rich. Why are you making such a big deal over this little bit of money?”“Exactly. It was just a misunderstanding. Now that everything’s been cleared up, why do you have to ruin our lives over it?”“So what if we drank your wine collection and damaged your sofa and carpets? You’re the CEO of a huge company. Surely you aren’t petty enough to care about this?”“Yeah! Look at you. You’ll be fine. Your injuries aren’t even that serious, so why can’t you just let it go?"Each of them spoke as though $20 million dollars were nothing more than pocket change to me.Perhaps they believed that because I was wealthy and because they had not beaten me to death, I should

Jason looked up. A flicker of hope appeared in his eyes.“Miss Silva, does that mean you’re willing to forgive me?”I looked him in the eye and answered, one word at a time, “Forgive you? No.“I only told you to stand up.“As for how this ends, that’s for the police to decide.“From this moment on, I will never give you special treatment again just because of your father.”The last bit of color drained from Jason’s face.He collapsed onto the floor like a man whose soul had left his body.As Linda watched this unfold, she finally realized just how serious the situation was.She bit her lip, walked over to me, and asked in a trembling voice, “Um, Miss Silva, right?“This was all a misunderstanding.“I didn’t know the car and the villa belonged to you. I thought—”“What?”I looked at her. “You thought I was freeloading off someone else’s car, so that gave you the right to assault me? The right to destroy my belongings?“I’ve already called the police. They should be here an

“Jason, say that again.”At last, Jason lifted his head and looked at her earnestly.“Linda, I’m sorry. I never meant to lie to you.“I just liked you too much. I was afraid that if you found out I was only a driver, you’d look down on me.“So, I—”Smack!Linda slapped him across the face, cutting him off. The sharp sound echoed through the silent living room.Jason neither dodged nor defended himself. He simply stood there, looking at Linda with overwhelming guilt. She was furious. Her voice trembled.“So, you’ve been lying to me this whole time?“You told me you were the president of Evercrest Group.“You said you drove a Maybach, lived in a luxury villa, and were worth billions of dollars.“And now what? You’re just a driver?“A driver with absolutely nothing to your name?!”Jason lowered his head. His voice was barely above a whisper.“Linda, I’m sorry.”“You’re sorry?!”Linda screamed hysterically, “Do you know what I’ve been telling all my friends? I told them my

“Linda’s friends assaulted me.“And they destroyed the only keepsake my mother left me.“Jason, after everything that’s happened...“Why do you think I should help you?”Faced with my questions, Jason’s face turned as white as a sheet. His mouth hung open, and his entire body trembled.“Miss Silva, I-I can pay for it…”“Pay for it?”I laughed. “That jade pendant was a keepsake my mother left me. She gave her life to obtain it.“Tell me, how exactly are you planning to pay me back?”Jason was completely speechless. At that moment, Linda could no longer hold herself back.Clicking toward us in her high heels, she strode over, pulled Jason behind her, and stood protectively in front of him.“What are you two whispering about?”She turned to Jason, suspicion in her eyes.“Jason, is this b*tch trying to seduce you again?”Jason parted his lips as though to answer, but he swallowed the words instead.Linda immediately sensed something was wrong. Her brows knitted together.

“They even claimed your car belongs to that b*tch and that this villa belongs to her too!“Tell them they’re yours. Go on!”Jason did not move.“Jason?”Sensing that something was wrong, Linda tugged on his arm.“What’s wrong with you? Say something!”The next second, Jason slowly raised his head and looked at me.His eyes were filled with panic and desperation. He gently pulled his arm from Linda, walked over to me quickly, and, just like last time, lowered his voice so only I could hear.“Miss Silva, please, I need your help.”I leaned back in my chair and looked at him coldly. He continued pleading.“Just help me keep up the lie. Please pretend I’m the CEO and you’re my employee in front of Linda.“Just this once, please!“You know my dad’s health isn’t good. All he’s ever wanted is for me to find a girlfriend and settle down.“Linda is a good woman. She’s been good to me. I really want this relationship to work.“If she finds out I’m just a driver, she’ll definitely
