“Jesus!!! Watch where you’re going, your fucking psychos, are you blind?” I yelled at the bloody Black suv that just spilled muddy water on me. There were two of them and they both stopped immediately, making a reverse. I didn’t mind that, I just focused my attention on the mess, trying to wipe it off me. One man came down from the first car, threw me a harsh look as he skidded to the second and pulled the door open slowly. I scoffed. What? Then down came the most polished and certainly expensive shoes I’d ever seen step foot on the ground. I lifted my eyes, catching the man bow before whoever was about to step down. Odd. Then, the figure stepped out, his hands dipped in his pockets. As soon as I saw him, a brief sensation tingled in my chest. Regret or perhaps…fear? Or maybe it was the slight glow I caught in his eyes. Something unusual. Whatever it was made me rethink my earlier outbursts. Maybe I shouldn’t have said that. He looked…somewhat dangerous. He was donned in dark clothes that suited his silhouette to perfection. Certainly, his tailor had to have had his finger blessed by the gods themselves. His dress shirt was rolled up all the way to his elbows exposing a work of art tattoo you only saw on TV boys. My eyes continued, not stopping until it got to the top. Chest was as wide as a pallet and from the slightly exposed center side of it, I could already tell the tattoos on his arms were nothing compared to what was plastered on that wall he called a chest. His face, his hair… forget his tailor. The gods must have settled down to create him together. He was annoyingly…attractive. And I hated thinking about it. Perhaps, they just wanted to be amused by how many hearts he could break because without being told, I already knew that would be the order of his life. I closed my eyes, trying to get rid of the illicit thoughts and fears. After all, they were the ones that offended me. They should be scared, not me. He stood silently, gawking at me. I shifted slightly, not sure how to react to that vicious stare. “Repeat that!” He finally spat, voice calm but dark. I squinted my eyes. “What?” Silence. He took another step closer, I took one backwards. What the hell? “Repeat yourself,” he commanded again. What sort of commanding nature is this? How dare he talk to me like this? I eyed him up and down before throwing my hands on my waist. “I said, are you blind?” I repeated sarcastically. “You offend me and still have the audacity to look me down like that?” The men surrounding him looked mortified but I didn’t care. I would never let someone put fear in me. One of them lunged towards me but was quickly held back by his boss which came as a surprise to him. “Yeah go back, there’s nothing you can do to me. People are watching,” I said mockingly, earning a hard stare from all of them. “How many times have you gotten away with this behavior?” He asked like he was talking to a child. I widened my eyes at his sheer audacity. If it wasn’t because I had an important place to be I would have begun an insulting marathon at all of them. “You know what, I don’t have anything to tell you. Just stop employing fucking losers as drivers. You look rich so why don’t you go out and get someone who knows what they’re doing. Stop being cheap!” I paused. “Or are you just a gigolo?” “Are you craz—,” The other man, more like a minion, yelled but was quickly stopped again. I laughed hysterically, not even sure where my bravery was coming from. I knew these people had to be dangerous but as usual, I couldn’t help my temper. It was a heavenly gift. The supposed boss pulled my attention back to him again. “With this bravery of yours, you better have a strong support system to back you up.” I blinked, now a little genuinely scared. “What the hell does that mean?” His jaw tightened as he turned away. “Don’t you dare threaten me?” I wiggled my finger at him, pretending like his words meant nothing. By this point, he had already climbed back into his car and while I continued to yell, the car sped off but not without splashing mud all over me again. My rage grew and I quickly abandoned my fear fully, raining curses after him. “You freaking bastard, I’m gonna kill you. You hear me? I’ll kill you whenever I see you again.” About an hour later, I finally got to my destination. The one my father’s neighbor, Mara, told me about. And truly, the wall was magnificent. She did not lie about that. The gate was just as imposing. Tall, dark and heavy. You could tell that the metal was made of the strongest. I stood in front of it, searching for a way to get him while being plagued with lots of thoughts about the other things I was told. How true were they? And how dangerous were the truths? What could they possibly be hiding that would make them isolate themselves this much. They basically covered a lot of lands… in fact, it was like a city of its own within another city. However, no matter how scary the truth may seem, nothing was about to stop me from going in there. It was simple. I would just tell them I’m looking for a job. Surely, in a place as big as this, they must have some kind of vacancy. Suddenly the gate creaked and to my surprise, it began to open. I should be scared and maybe avoid it. However, with the case at hand, that wasn’t the time to get scared so I made my way in slowly and the moment the gate closed after me, that fear returned. At first, I saw no one around and wondered why a place like that would be so empty. But as I walked further in, I began to see a few people around and just like Mara had told me, they were really dressed in a surprising costume. Royal costume. I smirked, wondering if she had made a mistake with her analysis. The place seemed more like a huge movie set rather than a residential area. Finally, I got to an entrance and saw another person, a lady, dressed in one of those costumes. “Hello, how can I help you?” she asked gently. I smiled, handing her my résumé. “Hi, I heard I can get a job here.” She ran her eyes up and down on me, her smile suddenly disappearing before speaking. “I’m sorry, but we do not have any vacancies at this time.” “But I heard—.” “It doesn’t matter. Please, just leave.” But I couldn’t leave. If it was just the job that brought me there, maybe I would have. But it was more than that. My father’s life depended on my success in this very building. I had to get the job. “Is there any way you can help me?” “No—.” “I’ll help you,” a somewhat familiar voice cut in from nowhere. We both turned but to my horror, It was him. The man from earlier. The glowing eyes one. He smirked, stepping closer and holding my chin. “Oh, I’m going to employ you. That way I can teach you some manners that you refused to learn at home.” My heart sank.King Kerman’s POV I was in my office, still hung up on that name issue.Although I was ready to let it go. After all, Elle was right. It could actually only be a coincidence. However, the fact that it literally wouldn’t leave my mind was something I could not ignore.Mara… was the name of my father’s first wife. The woman who married before my mother. She died a couple of years ago during childbirth with what would have been my brother. I paused and let out a smirk, remembering my mother’s words from when I was a child. Whenever I tried to mourn my brother, she would stop me.“Son, you do not need to mourn him. Do you think you would have had a chance if he lived?”But then I just saw her as cruel. After all, he was already dead. What was so bad in mourning him? Whatever fears she had about me not getting it through was literally out of the way.But being older, it kind of made sense. What was the point of mourning a person that would have only been my enemy if he was alive. It se
Mother Luna’s POVThe chief Elder and I returned to the palace together, posing as the perfect duo we were always known to beHe still hadn’t been able to say anything. Not after the heavy secret I told him. If I was any ordinary person, I would have been scared of his reaction. But I was not an ordinary person to him. I was his partner in crime and although we each had our own private crimes like what he just heard, I was still certain he would never give me up. It was just like I told him. My survival meant his survival and my fall meant his fall. The carriage stopped and I had to tap him back to reality.“We are here. Should I order someone to take you back to your manor?”He looked at me, speechless.“Chief…Is everything all right?” I asked, still feigning ignorance. He finally opened his mouth and while staring at me, he said,“Get out.”I squinted, unsure if that was meant for me.Surely, he wouldn’t be mad enough to cross the line like that. “Do you not hear me?!”He yelled
Dreamir’s POV“So what? Are we just going to wait for the little princess to come back to her senses and come here on her own accord?”One of my brothers yelled. “I mean, what if she never does? She’s probably enchanted under their magic.”“So what do you suggest?” Another asked.“Well, we certainly can’t wait for that to happen. We have to go to war if necessary and get her back here. Her presence is very much needed here so this is not the time for the debate.”“War?” I finally spoke. He looked at me. “Yes, do you have a better idea?”I stared back and smirked. “You have a lot of mouth on you but do you really want to go to war with… that bastard…Kerman. Huh? He of all people.”He eyed me slowly before letting out a scoff.“Look, I get you’re scared, brother but not all of us are like that. If you cannot take the bastard on, why don’t you give me the mantle and let me do it. Besides, this is why I said I deserved the throne from the beginning. Not some whimsy prince who cannot even
Elle’s POVIn the last few days, I had done so many things I wasn’t proud of. From getting to my father’s house but not being able to go in to what I did to that girl which was the most horrific.I still couldn’t believe I even did something like that but that wasn’t even the worst part. It was the fact that it felt so normal. So right. So needed.Like if I didn’t do it, I would lose my own life. The raw instincts that pushed me to plunge my teeth into her neck was what scared me the most.“That woman, your father’s girlfriend…Mara right?”I squinted, a little surprised that he was mentioning her.“Is anything the matter?”He shook his head. “Not at all. But I do have a few questions about her.”Why would he have a few questions about my father’s girlfriend?Or was he trying to look out for me?Maybe.“Fine, anything.”He cleared his throat before starting.“I’m just a little curious… how long have they been together?”I shrugged. “Honestly, I have no idea. I don’t even know if they
Elle’s POVI was still looking at the letter in shock when a voice called out from inside the house. I rushed back in, hiding the letter in my pocket.“What is it?”“She’s awake. The woman is awake,” the attendant said. “The physician asked me to call for you.”My eyes widened. “Really? She’s awak
Elle’s POV“For— forgive me, your majesty,” Sir Caius apologized, turning to run out.He grounded against my lips, smacking a tightened fist onto the side of the bed.And me? I just laid there in shame and guilt.I couldn’t believe the minion saw that. But what was worse was that I couldn’t believe
Elle’s POV I threw myself on the bed, finally having the chance to find rest. My supposed roommate didn’t even bother to show any concern. What a heartless witch. She should pray I never get the chance to deal with her because she won’t like it. As for that night, the plan was to sleep like
Elle’s POV My back was killing me and the worst part was I didn’t even know when it would end. I scoffed, blowing away unnecessary air. How dare he make me kneel in front of his ridiculous chambers and write a silly letter of apology? I mean who does he even think he is? A real king?!!! Sure,
