LOGINAURIELLE
"Aurielle?" Came Victor's voice at my door five minutes later. I didn’t answer him. I could already hear the impatience in his voice. "Oh, come on, you’re being dramatic. So what if I called another woman's name? At least let me finish first!" "Are you kidding me right now?!" I roared at him. He didn’t even try to explain and pacify me. He just let out a low, annoyed exhale, and then his footsteps faded away. I really wasn't okay. I mean, outwardly, I looked fine, but I wasn't. I had packed a bag that same night and booked an Airbnb. What I needed instead was to feel something that wasn't humiliation, entirely on my own terms. I needed to be touched by someone who actually wanted to touch me, who would look at my face and see me and not some other woman he'd rather be with. Was it healthy? Probably not. Did I care? I ignored that question. Once I settled in the room I had booked, I swung my laptop open. The gigolo website I found was called something vulgar that I will not be repeating out loud. The profiles were surprisingly organized. I scrolled with a determined, slightly crazy energy, looking for the right man. I didn't bother to check their pictures, because I didn't want to be too choosy. I just needed a good fuck for the night. "Good." I murmured as I sent the request, paid the deposit, and then sat back and waited. And waited, and waited, and waited. I paced the small length of the room, and I checked my phone over and over again. I looked out the window, then I paced again. I had almost finished a whole bottle of wine out of nervousness. I was a grown woman who had built a company from nothing. Surely I could handle waiting for a knock on a door from a man who wanted to fuck me, right? I looked out the window again, and this time, I saw him. I could barely see from all the wine in my system but it didn't matter. The man was standing by a car parked just outside, leaning against it. From my window, I could see that he was tall, easily over six feet. He was also sporting a head of beautiful auburn curls, buzzed to a taper fade at the sides, a perfect addition to his handsome face. He was dressed simply in dark trousers and a white shirt with the sleeves rolled to his forearms, collar open at the throat. Perfect! Then he looked up, straight at my window. He was looking at me with open interest, and I found myself downstairs in literal seconds. I stepped out of the front door and he straightened up from the car, his eyes tracking me the whole way. There was a half smile on his face as though he found the whole thing privately amusing. "Hi," I chirped. "You're here." "Oh, am I?" He canted his head slightly to the left as he replied, and I felt a sudden wetness between my legs just listening to him speak, probably from the wine or from the fact I'd been touch deprived. "Yes." I cleared my throat. "You're late, by the way." Amusement moved across his face. He looked like he wanted to correct me about something. “Are you drunk?” He asked with a wide smile. "No, not at all.” I burped and he nodded, I took that as confirmation and kept going. “So, here is how this is going to work. I don't need anything complicated, I just need to feel good tonight. That's it, can you do that?" He looked at me for a long moment, still with that half smile on his face that was starting to annoy me. "Yeah," he replied. "I can do that." "Okay, great." I turned back toward the door, willing my heartbeat to behave. "Come in then." He followed me inside. The door had barely even closed behind him, when I turned around and he was standing so close to me. He was closer than I expected, looking down at me with a crazy amount of arousal in his eyes. “Uhm, s–so," I stuttered. He smiled at my effort. Then he reached up and slowly folded a strand of hair behind my ear, as if we had all the time in the world. "You said you wanted to feel something," he reminded me. "I did say that." "So stop talking." I opened my mouth to say what I have absolutely no idea about, but he kissed the words right out of my mouth.AURIELLE I showed the note to Dominic, after I already made up my mind. "What time do we leave?" Dominic asked. “I’m going alone,” I said firmly, standing in the living room with my arms crossed. “This is my fight too, Dominic. Victor wants to talk to me. If I take you with me, he will shut down and we will get nothing useful.” Dominic paced back and forth in front of me, his voice rising with every step. “Absolutely not. You are not meeting that man by yourself. He is dangerous, Aurielle. He already tried to break into the house once, he stole footages, what if he tries something worse this time?” I shook my head, refusing to back down. “I can handle Victor. I lived with him for four years. I know exactly how he thinks and how he operates. If you show up, he will use it as an excuse to play the victim and leak even more lies to the press. Let me do this my way.” He stopped pacing and faced me directly, his eyes intense. “Your way almost got you hit by my car that day, you kno
AURIELLE “Dominic,” I said, my voice quieter than I wanted, showing him the screen. “The leaked footage is everywhere. They twisted our conversations, It looks like we’re just actors reading lines for your inheritance.” "Damn it," He cursed under his breath, answering one of the calls with a clipped tone. “We will issue a statement soon.” He hung up and turned to me, his face tight. “My secretary just called." I rolled my eyes as I heard the person that was on the other end of the phone. "She said the board is in panic. They want us at an emergency press conference in two hours. We have no choice but to face this head on.” I nodded, even though my stomach twisted. The next two hours passed with rushed preparation. I changed into a simple but strong beige dress that made me feel armor-plated. Dominic stayed close, but the tension between us was heavy. AURIELLE Dominic caught her before her head hit the stone steps, sliding his arm under her shoulders and lowering her down. “Marcus!” His voice tore through the house. “Marcus, I need my keys now!” Marcus came running from the side hall, took one look at the woman in Dominic’s arms, and didn’t ask a single question. He just pulled his keys from his pocket and threw them across the foyer. “Aurielle, move,” Dominic said, already lifting her. I stepped back automatically, my mind still trying to catch up to what my eyes were seeing. “Dominic, who is…” “Please, not now.” He was out the door before I finished the sentence, the woman limp against his chest, her coat falling open to reveal how thin she was underneath it. I grabbed my own shoes from the hallway and ran after them anyway. Whatever was happening, I wasn’t being left behind in the house wondering. The car ride to the hospital felt like it stretched. Dominic sat in the back with her head in his lap, two fingers pressed aga
AURIELLE There was no news about my marriage with Dominic. I checked my phone three times before getting out of bed, half expecting him to still go along with it. Dominic found me in the kitchen an hour later, still in my robe, staring at the cup of coffee I hadn’t touched. “You didn’t sleep.” “I kept waiting for my phone to blow up, Victor said tomorrow morning. It’s tomorrow morning.” Dominic pulled out the chair across from me and sat down slowly. “Maybe he’s bluffing.” “Victor doesn’t bluff.” I wrapped both hands around the mug, needing something to hold onto. “If he hasn’t leaked it yet, it’s because he’s still deciding how to use it. That’s worse than him just doing it.” “What did he actually say to you yesterday? You never gave me the full conversation.” I’d been avoiding this. “He wants me to help him sabotage you. Feed him information. In exchange, he keeps quiet about the footage and whatever Tyler’s willing to say.” Dominic’s expression didn’t change, but his hand

AURIELLE Victor paced sheepishly at the mansion gates like a ghost from my worst nightmares, his corrupt lawyer beside him was holding a thick folder. Dominic’s hand stayed firm on my lower back as we approached, his body tense from protectiveness. What the hell are you doing here, Victor?” I dema

AURIELLE He stepped even closer, towering over me in the softly lit living room. The whiskey glass sat forgotten on the counter. I thought he was finally going to close the distance. My heart hammered wildly. I could smell his cologne, feel the heat rolling off his body. Every nerve in me screamed
