Chapter 2

Autor: Soda
"Carmine…it's all my fault…"

Clutching my bloody palm, I sobbed hysterically: "The platform collapsed too fast! I held onto his vest and pulled with everything I had. My hands are torn to shreds…but the buckle snapped! Dominic…he held Vanessa so tight, and they went right over the edge…"

The harsh voice on the other end went dead quiet.

Through the static of the wind-blown radios, only Carmine's heavy, agonizing gasp remained.

"Bitch…just you wait!"

CLICK. She slammed the phone down.

Forty minutes later, two black mob helicopters roared over the rocky beach at the bottom of the cliff.

When the paramedics rushed out with stretchers, the mobsters behind them all gasped in shock.

Vanessa's luck was sickeningly good. Dense tree branches halfway down caught her, leaving her with only light scratches and a broken left wrist. She lay on her stretcher, trembling in fear.

Dominic, who acted as her human shield, was a bloody pulp.

Branches tore his skin open everywhere. Thick blood covered his face. His legs twisted in horrifying, ninety-degree angles.

Even in a deep coma, his lips twitched, weak murmurs rasped out of his mouth:

"Save…save Vanessa first.leave me…"

The mobsters carrying the stretcher exchanged weird looks.

"Boss Dominic is half dead, and he's still crying out for Vanessa."

"Our lady shredded her own hand trying to pull him up, but Boss Dominic didn't care about her at all…"

The harsh whispers reached Vanessa's ears. Her face drained of all color. She sobbed, trying to defend herself to the men:

"It's not what you think. Dominic and I are just childhood friends—he's just used to protecting me!"

Nobody bought her weak excuse. The men looked at her with pure disgust, seeing her as a homewrecking curse.

When I stepped into the medical helicopter, I even pulled off my jacket and gently draped it over Vanessa's shivering shoulders.

"Don't listen to them, Vanessa. I'm just glad you're safe." My eyes held fake tears, my voice soft and flawless.

Vanessa went stiff. She stared at my bloody, torn palms, her throat caught, unable to utter a single word.

The helicopter sped off, landing on the helipad of the Rossi family's private hospital.

Black-suited guards completely sealed off the top floor of the ER building.

The stretcher wheeled fast toward the OR doors. Vanessa limped behind, gritting her teeth, trying to force her way inside:

"Let me in! I need to stay with Dominic!"

I stepped forward, blocking her path. I gently caught her hurt wrist, my voice calm, yet loud enough to echo down the hall:

"Vanessa, your left wrist is broken. You need to go to orthopedics right now.Besides, Dominic is fighting for his life. You are not his legal wife. You'll only get in the doctors' way."

The dozens of family lieutenants standing in the hallway went completely cold.

"A childhood friend with a broken wrist trying to push into Boss Dominic's surgery room?"

"She really doesn't know her place. Who does she think she is, the lady of the Rossi family?"

The harsh whispers hit Vanessa like sharp slaps. Her face flushed red, then turned pale. She stood frozen in place, unable to step forward or back, tears welled up in her eyes.

Right then, fast, heavy heels clicked down the far end of the hallway.

Carmine rushed over, surrounded by cold-faced bodyguards.

She wore an expensive black mink coat. Her well-kept, cruel face burned with wild rage.

"Sienna! You damned jinx!"

The second Carmine reached us, she didn't even glance at Vanessa. She raised her hand and swung it hard at my face!

"If my son dies in there, I will take your worthless life!"

In my past life, I would have dropped to my knees, crying and begging for mercy.

This time, I didn't even blink. I watched her hand swing at me with cold eyes.

BANG!

The emergency room doors burst open.

The lead surgeon ran out covered in blood, cutting her slap off short:

"Who is the family?! The patient lost too much blood! Multiple internal tears, crushed legs, and his heart rate is dropping fast! Sign the critical condition notice now!"

A blood-red paper went straight into Carmine's hands.

The rage on Carmine's face vanished, replaced by sheer panic and pale terror.

"Critical…how is he critical?!" Her knees went weak, and she almost collapsed.

I gave the bodyguards a look, watching cold-eyed as they held up the shaking woman.

The hallway lights shone cold and harsh. The red emergency light flashed silently above our heads.

I leaned back against the hard wall, running my thumb over the dried blood on my palm. I watched Carmine drown in fear, and Vanessa stand there utterly hopeless.

In my last life, you locked me in that freezer and watched me die. Now, it's your turn to choke on that terror, piece by piece.

Just then, the red ER light snapped off. The surgeon walked out with a heavy face.

Six in the morning, down in the club's underground wine cellar. The air smelled only of bitter oak barrels and biting, freezing cold. The heavy door of the walk-in freezer was half open, puffing out thick white mist.Dominic sat in his wheelchair, glaring darkly down the hallway.Seeing me walk up alone, the murderous look in his eyes finally snapped. His voice was raw. "Sienna, you must be thrilled, right?"I stopped, looking down at him from above. "Dominic, you put the noose around your own neck."He stared hard at me, suddenly pulling a twisted, ugly grin. He forced a sick, fake sweetness into his voice. "Sienna… I was wrong before. We were husband and wife. Do you really have to push me this far? Just put in a good word for me. Once I bounce back, I swear I'll give you everything…"Fake peace. He thought his face and a few fake, soft words could make me soft-hearted just like before.I watched the venom flash in his eyes and let out a cold laugh instead of moving. "Dominic, cut th

Vanessa didn't just marry Julian, the rising star of the Sterling family. She also sent out high-profile wedding invitations across the entire city. This was no different than dragging Dominic's crippled pride through the dirt and crushing it into pieces."Bitch! You're all bitches!" Dominic completely lost his mind. He drank himself blind every night and stopped showing up to board meetings entirely.A month later, when he drunkenly stumbled into a regular meeting, he found out it was actually a property transfer. The family lawyer read Don's resolution right in front of me and Dominic:"Don Salvatore and the elders have voted unanimously: 15% of the core equity in the Rossi high-end club is officially transferred to Sienna."Sitting in his wheelchair, Dominic turned paper-white. He jerked his head up, his eyes blood red as he glared at the lawyer. "What did you say? Why the hell does she get 15%? I am the true heir of the Rossi family!""Sir, you can't even protect yourself right now

"Where did that five million from the accounts go?"Inside the club's VIP room, I slapped the financial report onto the table and stared coldly down at Dominic in his wheelchair."I'll use my own money however I want! It's none of your damn business," Dominic snapped, his brow furrowed, not even glancing at the papers. He still wore a sharp suit, desperately clinging to his fake pride.Only I knew the bottomless pit of the underground casinos was already draining him dry.To patch up the massive hole, he had sold off his private assets and even gone out of his mind, embezzling public funds from the family club. And I had already caught every single wire transfer, his deals with Jax, and his casino contracts through secret surveillance.Just as the words left his mouth, the butler rushed in, his face completely drained of color. "Second Young Master, out in the lobby… something's happened!"Under the grand crystal chandelier of the main hall, a man and a woman were snuggled up together,

"Get the hell out of here!"A few days later, another loud crash echoed through the master bedroom. An expensive porcelain vase shattered against the wall, sending pieces flying everywhere.Dominic had completely lost his aristocratic pretense. Like a madman, he waved his arms and screamed hysterically at the physical therapist."Sir, your therapy has to continue, or your muscles will completely atrophy…" The therapist turned pale, backing away trembling."Let them atrophy! None of your damn business!" Dominic's eyes were bloodshot. With a ferocious look, he grabbed a pillow and hurled it. "Even that bitch Vanessa dared to betray me. You losers just want to watch me fall, don't you? Get out! Get the hell out of the estate!"Ever since that charity gala, he had completely given up on himself.Rehab? Walking again? That was a total joke. His legs were dead weight, trapped in a permanent, heavy numbness. He locked himself in the dark room, living day and night on hard liquor and painkille

  • No More Saving You   Chapter 6

"Vanessa, you seriously aren't planning to spend your whole life with a paralyzed piece of trash, are you?"The carved wooden door of the VIP lounge stood half open, letting out a mocking, playful laugh. My hands froze on the wheelchair handles. I looked down at Dominic sitting in the shadow. His entire body went stiff. He locked his eyes on that gap.Another man's voice drifted out, laced with amusement, "Julian, come on, don't talk like that. He only ended up like this because of me" Vanessa's voice was soft, but it carried raw impatience. "I've already paid back what I owed him. There's no way I'm sacrificing my life and marriage for a cripple!"Boom.Dominic's mind went completely blank. A loud ringing filled his ears. The precious girl he had spoiled for years had finally ripped off her own mask.Bang! The door of the lounge swung violently open.Julian stood in the doorway, holding Vanessa's fur coat, looking down with total contempt and mockery. He glanced sidelong at Dominic in

[Sorry honey, can't make it to see you today either. Take care.]Dominic stared at the text on his phone. His whole body shook with rage."How much longer are you going to avoid me?"He hurled his encrypted phone against the wall. It smashed to pieces, scattering across the floor.Lately, Vanessa always had an excuse. One day she was busy prepping for a socialite event, the next she was flying to Paris for a private couture show. She had dodged him for days. The sweet girl who used to do everything he asked now treated him like poison. This cold shoulder and total betrayal cut right through his shattered pride. On the day he left the hospital and came back to the estate, he saw wheelchair ramps installed everywhere. Instead of feeling touched, he flew into a blind rage."Bang!"Sitting in his custom wheelchair, Dominic swept his arm across the table, knocking down a spread of expensive dinnerware. Fine bone china shattered everywhere. His eyes bloodshot, he screamed at the maids, "Get
