Chapter 4

Autor: Soda
"Take your damn wine and get the hell out!"

The glass bottle shattered at the hospital room door, expensive red wine splashing all over Vanessa's legs.

On the tenth day of his hospital stay, Vanessa took advantage of a guard shift change to sneak in. Banned by Carmine from visiting, she brought a bottle of top-tier wine from her family's vineyard, trying to spark their romance again.

Too bad she picked the absolute worst time.

On the bed, the once arrogant second-in-command of the Rossi family was emitting a foul smell of human waste.

Because his lower body lost all feeling, Dominic had lost control of his bowels.

Before the nurses could change the sheets, Vanessa pushed the door open.

Even though she tried her best to hide it, the twitch of her eyebrow at the sour smell and the tiny half-step she took backward were caught by Dominic instantly.

At first, Dominic's face held a touch of warmth. But that half-step crushed the very last bit of his dignity as a mafia boss.

"Dominic,I just wanted to see you!" Vanessa paled, clutching her dress, trembling before the shattered glass.

"Are you deaf?! GET OUT!" Dominic's eyes turned blood-red. Like a toothless beast going mad, he grabbed everything on the nightstand and threw it at the door.

Standing in the hallway shadows, I watched Vanessa run away in disgrace, a cold smile curling on my lips.

From that day on, Dominic threw himself into self-torturing rehab.

Every day, painful roars and the loud crashing of equipment echoed from the rehab room.

He couldn't accept becoming a cripple. He couldn't stand the pity or coldness in people's eyes. His temper grew wilder and darker. He even held a gun to a nurse's head just to keep everyone away.

A month later, in the rehab room.

"I don't need help! Back off!" Dominic shoved two trembling nurses away. Veins popped on his forehead as he gripped the bars of the standing frame.

He tried to stand up on his own strength.

One second. Two seconds.

He shook violently, his face turning from red to pale. His paralyzed lower legs hung like boiled noodles, utterly unable to hold his broad frame.

A heavy crash shook the room.

Dominic slammed onto the cold floor, collapsed in a ridiculous, ugly pile.

"Dominic!"

A gasp came from the doorway.

Vanessa had snuck back again. She stood at the door, her mouth wide open, her eyes filled with shock and cruel pity.

That look stung worse than a gun pressed to his head.

Dead silence filled the room.

Dominic lay flat on the floor. He lifted his head in shame, meeting Vanessa's eyes—eyes full of fear and disgust.

The man she once idolized as a savior was now a helpless cripple who couldn't even crawl.

That contrast crushed Dominic's soul into dust.

"Had enough of a show?!" Dominic snapped completely, grabbing a piece of rehab equipment and throwing it hard at her feet.

Plastic and metal buckled with a sharp noise as it hit the floor.

Vanessa shrieked in terror, backing up three steps. She didn't even have the courage to reach out and help him up.

"Didn't you say you'd stay with me no matter what happened to me?!"

Dominic lay on the floor, propping his upper body with his hands. His eyes burned with thick toxicity, his teeth grinding together:

"Since you're so madly in love, then marry me!"

The words echoed wildly through the empty rehab room.

Every nurse, bodyguard, and bystander in the room stopped breathing.

Thick awkwardness and suffocating pressure covered the entire room.

Vanessa froze on the spot, her fake mask shattering to pieces. Only sheer terror and disgust remained on her face.

Being the fiancee of the mafia's second-in-command was one thing. Being a caretaker to a permanently paralyzed, incontinent cripple was a completely different story.

"I…" Vanessa's lips trembled violently, unable to get a full sentence out.

Watching this circus, pure delight filled my heart.

Watching them turn on each other was pure ecstasy. The circus was officially underway.

Six in the morning, down in the club's underground wine cellar. The air smelled only of bitter oak barrels and biting, freezing cold. The heavy door of the walk-in freezer was half open, puffing out thick white mist.Dominic sat in his wheelchair, glaring darkly down the hallway.Seeing me walk up alone, the murderous look in his eyes finally snapped. His voice was raw. "Sienna, you must be thrilled, right?"I stopped, looking down at him from above. "Dominic, you put the noose around your own neck."He stared hard at me, suddenly pulling a twisted, ugly grin. He forced a sick, fake sweetness into his voice. "Sienna… I was wrong before. We were husband and wife. Do you really have to push me this far? Just put in a good word for me. Once I bounce back, I swear I'll give you everything…"Fake peace. He thought his face and a few fake, soft words could make me soft-hearted just like before.I watched the venom flash in his eyes and let out a cold laugh instead of moving. "Dominic, cut th

Vanessa didn't just marry Julian, the rising star of the Sterling family. She also sent out high-profile wedding invitations across the entire city. This was no different than dragging Dominic's crippled pride through the dirt and crushing it into pieces."Bitch! You're all bitches!" Dominic completely lost his mind. He drank himself blind every night and stopped showing up to board meetings entirely.A month later, when he drunkenly stumbled into a regular meeting, he found out it was actually a property transfer. The family lawyer read Don's resolution right in front of me and Dominic:"Don Salvatore and the elders have voted unanimously: 15% of the core equity in the Rossi high-end club is officially transferred to Sienna."Sitting in his wheelchair, Dominic turned paper-white. He jerked his head up, his eyes blood red as he glared at the lawyer. "What did you say? Why the hell does she get 15%? I am the true heir of the Rossi family!""Sir, you can't even protect yourself right now

"Where did that five million from the accounts go?"Inside the club's VIP room, I slapped the financial report onto the table and stared coldly down at Dominic in his wheelchair."I'll use my own money however I want! It's none of your damn business," Dominic snapped, his brow furrowed, not even glancing at the papers. He still wore a sharp suit, desperately clinging to his fake pride.Only I knew the bottomless pit of the underground casinos was already draining him dry.To patch up the massive hole, he had sold off his private assets and even gone out of his mind, embezzling public funds from the family club. And I had already caught every single wire transfer, his deals with Jax, and his casino contracts through secret surveillance.Just as the words left his mouth, the butler rushed in, his face completely drained of color. "Second Young Master, out in the lobby… something's happened!"Under the grand crystal chandelier of the main hall, a man and a woman were snuggled up together,

"Get the hell out of here!"A few days later, another loud crash echoed through the master bedroom. An expensive porcelain vase shattered against the wall, sending pieces flying everywhere.Dominic had completely lost his aristocratic pretense. Like a madman, he waved his arms and screamed hysterically at the physical therapist."Sir, your therapy has to continue, or your muscles will completely atrophy…" The therapist turned pale, backing away trembling."Let them atrophy! None of your damn business!" Dominic's eyes were bloodshot. With a ferocious look, he grabbed a pillow and hurled it. "Even that bitch Vanessa dared to betray me. You losers just want to watch me fall, don't you? Get out! Get the hell out of the estate!"Ever since that charity gala, he had completely given up on himself.Rehab? Walking again? That was a total joke. His legs were dead weight, trapped in a permanent, heavy numbness. He locked himself in the dark room, living day and night on hard liquor and painkille

  • No More Saving You   Chapter 6

"Vanessa, you seriously aren't planning to spend your whole life with a paralyzed piece of trash, are you?"The carved wooden door of the VIP lounge stood half open, letting out a mocking, playful laugh. My hands froze on the wheelchair handles. I looked down at Dominic sitting in the shadow. His entire body went stiff. He locked his eyes on that gap.Another man's voice drifted out, laced with amusement, "Julian, come on, don't talk like that. He only ended up like this because of me" Vanessa's voice was soft, but it carried raw impatience. "I've already paid back what I owed him. There's no way I'm sacrificing my life and marriage for a cripple!"Boom.Dominic's mind went completely blank. A loud ringing filled his ears. The precious girl he had spoiled for years had finally ripped off her own mask.Bang! The door of the lounge swung violently open.Julian stood in the doorway, holding Vanessa's fur coat, looking down with total contempt and mockery. He glanced sidelong at Dominic in

[Sorry honey, can't make it to see you today either. Take care.]Dominic stared at the text on his phone. His whole body shook with rage."How much longer are you going to avoid me?"He hurled his encrypted phone against the wall. It smashed to pieces, scattering across the floor.Lately, Vanessa always had an excuse. One day she was busy prepping for a socialite event, the next she was flying to Paris for a private couture show. She had dodged him for days. The sweet girl who used to do everything he asked now treated him like poison. This cold shoulder and total betrayal cut right through his shattered pride. On the day he left the hospital and came back to the estate, he saw wheelchair ramps installed everywhere. Instead of feeling touched, he flew into a blind rage."Bang!"Sitting in his custom wheelchair, Dominic swept his arm across the table, knocking down a spread of expensive dinnerware. Fine bone china shattered everywhere. His eyes bloodshot, he screamed at the maids, "Get
