B I A N C A

I didn't remember Damian leading me back to the living room. I was livid. My body was shaking with anger. My perfect morning had just been shattered by a woman from my husband's past and I wanted to rip her hair out of her head.

"Bianca, look at me," Damian said in an urgent voice. He was kneeling in front of me, his hands on my arms, forcing me to meet his gaze.

"How?" I finally managed to whisper, the word scraping my throat. "Damian, how is this possible?"

"I don't know," he said.

  • Once A Doormat, Now A Famous Billionaire Heiress   Chapter 118

B I A N C ADamian had been discharged a week earlier. As a patient, he had been getting treatment at his best pace possible. Every day a physical therapist would come to the house and make sure the wound wasn't infected and working on building the strength he had lost during the long coma.He slept almost throughout the whole day, allowing his body to rest. I would make him a cup of warm milk every morning and he would chug it up.Since he would not have eaten anything the previous night, I would try to make him a solid healthy breakfast that would stimulate his digestive system to keep going.By noon, the nurse would arrive to administer his medication and would give his wound a checkup. It was healing very quickly now and he was supposed to be getting even more of physical activity everyday to boost his recovery rate.Everyday he would exercise the muscles of his arms and chest, ensuring that he was getting back his full body capacity again. Finally, the wound was fully healed and

B I A N C AMy legs shook as I approached the bed. The world had narrowed to this single room, to the man lying in it whose eyes were now finally open. I reached for his hand, my own trembling so violently I could barely grasp his. His skin was still cool, but it wasn't as cold as before. There was life there. "Damian," I whispered, my throat tight with unshed tears. His gaze found mine, still hazy and clouded with a confusion I couldn't begin to fathom. "Bianca," he rasped. He tried to squeeze my hand, but the effort was too much. "I'm here," I said, my thumb stroking the back of his knuckles. "I'm right here.""Don't cry," he said, a faint smile touching his lips. "You'll get all puffy."A laugh sob escaped me. "You idiot," I managed, wiping furiously at my face with my free hand. "You scared the hell out of me. I almost thought you were going to leave me."He blinked slowly, as if processing my words. "Leave you?" he repeated. "Never. You'restuck with me forever."I wanted to te

B I A N C AIt’s been three days since they found the button and the blood sample. Three long agonizing days of waiting. Every time my phone rang, my heart would leap into my throat, hoping it was the call with the results.I had barely left Damian's side, sleeping in a chair by his bed, surviving on stale coffee and whatever food Chloe or Marco could bring me. The hospital had become my whole world as long as my world was in it. I was dozing in the chair when I felt a gentle shake on my shoulder. I opened my eyes to see Marco standing over me, a grim look on his face.My heart sank. "You have the results?"He nodded. "I do. Let's take a walk."I stood up, my legs stiff from sitting for so long. We walked out of the room and into the quiet hallway."The blood didn’t match anyone in the system," Marco said, getting straight to the point. "No criminal record.""So it's a dead end?" I asked, my voice deflated."Not exactly," he said. "The suit the button came from is very expensive. Cus

B I A N C AJulian’s car pulled to a stop in the hospital's designated parking lot, the engine purring softly before he silenced it. He turned to me, a look of genuine concern in his eyes. "Are you sure you want to go back in tonight? You look exhausted, B. Maybe you should let Marco take you home. Somewhere safe.""No," I said, my voice firm despite the tremor in my hands. "I need to be here with him. I can't leave him alone.""Okay," he said, not pushing further. "But I'm walking you to the entrance. And I'm not leaving until I know you're with Marco."I nodded, a wave of gratitude washing over me. I was so used to being strong, to handling everything on my own. It was strange to let someone in, to let them take care of me, even for a little while. We walked towards the hospital entrance. The automatic doors slid open and the familiar smell of antiseptic. I saw Marco standing by the entrance, his arms crossed over his chest as he looked at Julian."Who is he?" Marco asked as we ap

B I A N C AI was invited to the station to have a interrogation with Lucas and the detectives. At first, I was hesitant, but Marco insisted."It'll be good for you," he said, his voice gentle. "To face him. To see for yourself if he truly is the monster we think he is."Now, I was sitting in a small windowless room, my hands clasped in my lap. The door opened, and Lucas was led in, his hands still cuffed. He looked terrible. His hair was a mess, his clothes were wrinkled and he had a five o'clock shadow. His eyes met mine, and for a second, I saw a flicker of something. Surprise? I couldn't tell.He sat down across from me, a detective standing on either side of him."Bianca," he said, his voice rough. "I didn't do this."I didn't say anything. I just stared at him, my expression unreadable. I wanted to believe him, a part of me did. But I couldn't. Not yet."You have to believe me," he said, his voice pleading. "I know I wasn't a good boyfriend. I know I hurt you. But I wouldn't do

B I A N C A"Do you really think he might have a hand in this?" Chloe asked after I told her my suspicion about Lucas. She was also putting two and two together."I don't know," I said, my hands trembling as I closed the journal. "But it makes a sick kind of sense. He was always so possessive. He couldn't stand the thought of me being with someone else, especially someone as good as Damian. He saw Damian as a threat."I tried to brush the thought away, telling myself I was being paranoid. But the thought just kept coming back, nagging at me.I paced the room. "He knew Damian was my husband. He knew what Damian meant to me. What if he couldn't stand to see me happy with someone else? What if he wanted to punish me for leaving him?""But he's not a killer, B," Chloe said, trying to be the voice of reason. "He's arrogant and a jerk, but he's not a killer. Is he?"I didn't answer. I didn't know the answer to that. The Lucas I knew was many things, but I never thought he was capable of some

B I A N C AThe car ride home was silent. Damian drove with his white knuckled grip on the steering wheel. He was staring straight ahead, the muscle in his jaw ticking. I wanted to say something, to break the suffocating silence, but I couldn't find the words. I was still angry, and I knew that any

B I A N C AThe next morning, I woke up in Damian's arms. The morning sun was filtering through the curtains and I snuggled closer to him, enjoying the feeling of his body against mine."Morning," he murmured, his eyes still closed."Morning," I said, kissing his chest. We lay in silence for a while

B I A N C A"Natalia is back. And I’m making her my wife."My spoon froze halfway between the bowl and my mouth. I stared at Lucas, the seriousness in his eyes as he spoke those words like it was the simplest thing in the world. Realization suddenly hit me like a bucket of ice water, I had made a g
