Diamond’s POV

I froze for a while as I watched him watch me take in the information before I scoffed. “What do you mean? You take me for a fool now?” I asked. My chest was already beginning to tighten from anger and sadness.

He was about to speak, but I beat him to it. “See... I know that you said you don't like me, and this was all pretence and all, but then, having sex with a man.” I paused and shook my head. “I can't bear this. It would have been better to lose you to a woman.” I said.

I still can't imagine losing him to a male. No matter how I thought of it, it didn't make sense. “I think you didn't quite hear what I said,” he said. He sat, pulling the sheet on himself.

I didn't think that was the case. I heard him deny me a while ago. But I decided to allow him to speak, my heart beating in trepidation. “You are just going to lie again.”

“For fucks sake, listen to me, woman,” he said, his voice a bit over the top. He clenched his teeth and tried to breathe. “I'm Neymar. Nicholas' identical twin brother. “ He emphasised each word. I raised a brow. I wasn't aware Nicholas had a twin.

Well, I didn't know him like that, so I couldn't quite conclude at this time. “And you are intruding in my space.” He said. The man close to him clinged onto him, and I felt something distasteful settle on my tongue. I apologised and stepped out of the room.

My mind was filled with various thoughts. These are things Debra should know. Well, I could simply hide under the guise of having lost my memory, but how long can I do that for? I headed straight back into my room. I sat on the bed.

Memories of how Nicholas had treated me last night rushed back into my mind, and I felt my heart squeeze. I had slept alone on my wedding night, and I suddenly felt like a fool for imagining how passionate the night would be when he didn't even want to be in the same space as me.

Without much thought, I went to sleep. The next time I woke up, it was to the sound of a knock. I rubbed my sleepy eyes and said, “Come in.” I said this to the person at the door. A woman in her late forties stepped into the room. Her hair was tied in a bum, and an apron was tied around her waist.

“Good afternoon, madam,” she said. She didn’t look like the other maids I had seen gossiping about me; I knew I had respect oozing out of her. “Lunch is ready. Would you like to eat here or in the dining room?” She asked.

I bit my lower lips, contemplating where to eat. It definitely wouldn't be at the dining room; I'd rather eat here than go eat where I am being watched and judged. And I didn't want to run into Neymar.

Sunrays streamed into the room from the window. “I'll have my food here,” I said. She was about to step out when she stopped and turned. Her hands were neatly tucked into the pocket in the front of her apron.

“I am head maid, Lucia; sorry for the late introduction.” She said her head was slightly bowed in respect. “I am the one in charge of managing the entire affair; if there's anything you want, I'm just a call away.” She said.

I nodded in acknowledgment and watched her walk out of the room. She came back with two other maids who held trays of food. They placed it on the top of the mahogany table in the room. It was more than I expected. I felt my eyes water as I watched the maid place them gently on the table.

My mind reverted to the past. I had never eaten so much at a time. I fed from hand to mouth, and now here I am. “Is everything okay? Do you not like the food?” Lucia, the head maid, asks in a calm and soothing voice. “Something flew into my eyes.” I lied and dabbed the corner of my eyes.

She apologised, though she wasn't at fault. After lunch, I was torn between what to do and what not to do. Before Lucia had left, I had asked her when Nicholas would be back. He may treat me badly, but I still want him. I wanted to be in his presence.

I stood in front of the mirror. My hair was a mess from the nap I had taken earlier. I sat and brushed my hair with my fingers. I hoped the day would go by quickly. I was already getting tired and bored. Nicholas would be back by 7 p.m. I hoped we could have dinner together.

I stood and walked to the window. I bite on my nails. I liked Nicholas. I know I shouldn't, as technically he isn't my husband or isn't supposed to be my husband, but I can't help it. I want him to want me. “I should make him fall for me.”

I walk back to the mirror, staring at my reflection. I comment, “I am not bad at looks.” Debra was a beautiful girl. The blonde hair and green eyes. The chiselled cheekbone and her perfect chin.

I shook my head and straightened my clothes with my hands; this wasn't Debra anymore. This was Diamond, and from what I remember, Debra wasn't in love with Nicholas; that's what she told me, and Nicholas wasn't in love with Debra, so I can make him fall for me. Diamond.

“But how?” I closed my eyes and opened them, then inhaled sharply. An idea suddenly hit me. I picked up my phone from the bed, opened Safari, and typed as quickly as I could, “How to get a man to fall in love with you, the real you.”

I breathed down and tapped on search. I tapped on the first article that popped up. I scrolled down, my brows furrowed, as I tried to take note of every suggestion that was made. I quickly made a list of things.

Dress attractively, cook for him, don't be rude, connect with him intellectually, work on eye contact, show off your talent, make lingering touches, and be pleasant and smile often.

I scribbled all this on a small sheet of paper and smiled. The article promised that there would be results from the first two weeks. I bit the cap of the pen as I stared at the list I had made. I would follow them one after the other.

First, dress nicely. Wear very attractive clothes, which would subtly provoke him. I would do just that. The wardrobe was already filled with different clothes. I just had to change into something really quick.

I first went into the bathroom to take a quick shower. Your smell is also important. I applied very light but noticeable makeup and styled my hair beautifully. I stepped out of my room to carry out the second function on the list. “I want to cook for my husband,” I said when I got to the kitchen.

The kitchen maids all raised their brows. Staring made me feel like I had gone mad. I walked past them and asked, "What's on the menu for dinner?” I asked. “Ma, you don't have to. We'll take care of this.” I squared my shoulders to look more bold. I am not used to being called ma or madam.

“I insist,” I said. They had no choice but to allow me to do what I wanted to do. I allowed them to assist me, but I remained the head. When everything was almost ready, I left them.

I thought the third tip was as good as done, as I have never been rude to him, and then the fourth seemed to scare me. From the look of things, Nicholas would be intelligent, and it's something I didn't think I could connect with.

I had to learn something about him. I thought of asking the maids, but it didn't make any sense to me. I'll find out about him myself. I decided to walk to his room. I asked a maid to point it out to me. I would be quick. Since he would return by seven p.m., I had an hour to search his room.

The door was locked when I arrived there. There should be a spare key, “Lucia. Get me the key to this room.” I said this when she came to stand close to me. She handed me the spare and left. I opened the room and stepped into it. It was bigger than I imagined it to be.

All exterior colours were white. It was cosy and clean. I walked to the bed and sat on it, creating a big crease on it. Then I laid on it and inhaled sharply, wanting to fill myself with his scent.

When I was satisfied, I walked to a table where a stack of files was. I brush through them; there must be something somewhere. I was so busy trying to find out something about him that I didn't notice someone entering the room.

“What are you doing here?” A familiar voice spoke, and my heart stopped beating.

Neymar's POV"Excuse me, what?" I looked at Debra, dumbfounded by her statement; surely I didn't hear her properly. "What do you mean, you got me a new heart? I don't understand," I asked her.She smiled at me knowingly, then pointed at the file I held in my hand. I got a bit hesitant, but I slowly read the contents of the file. With every line I read, my knees got weaker and my grip loosened on the paper.I finally sat down, still looking at the ink-stained piece of paper. I couldn't believe it; it shouldn't be possible. I looked up at her with a confused expression. "How?" I croaked, my voice weak from the shock. She casually walked in like she expected my reaction and took a seat beside me, to my back. Lucia seemed completely oblivious and confused about what was happening. And I couldn't really blame her, especially if someone comes to my room in the morning casually saying, "Hey, I have a new heart for you." I looked at Debra again with a baffled expression, not sure of what to d

Neymar's POVMy eyes shot open in shock, and I immediately stood up from my bed, clutching my chest as tightly as possible. "Shit, it happened again." Lately, I have been having difficulty breathing, but it got worse when it happened while I slept. My heart had grown weaker over the months, so breathing had become a chore for me. Sitting up in bed drenched in sweat and dread, I was scared—scared beyond reason. If anything, I didn't think dying slowly would be so painful. And what bothered me the most was that I couldn't control it. It had gotten better after I stopped drinking alcohol, but it came in random successions and blinding pain, and the scariest part was that I could be in my sleep while having a heart attack, alone. The idea of dying without anyone being there or watching me is probably what scares me the most. I stood up from the bed with visible discomfort. I steadied myself and walked to the bathroom.I washed my face and patted it dry, then I drank a glass of water from

Diamond's POVI lay calmly in bed, unwilling to wake up and unwilling to accept the reality of my circumstances. I thought I could fix everything. I thought I could save him.How sorely mistaken I was. Remembering the doctor's words, a shiver ran down my spine, making me cold with sweat and anxiety. "Are you feeling better now?" A voice reached out to me, soothing and calm yet sure and steady."We've talked about this. You can't keep blaming yourself for doing something good against the situation itself. It was bound to happen," the voice said to me, refusing to look up and unwilling to turn around. I shook my head in retaliation."Babe, listen to me. Sit up now." He sat beside the bed close to where I lay, placing his hand on my shoulder. He turned me around, although I resisted a bit, but it was futile. He carried me from the bed to his lap."Why are you blaming yourself so much? It's not like you did anything wrong to begin with." He caressed my face, and I finally decided to loo

Ivan’s POVWe went back quite a bit, and he was close friends with Carl, which made relating with him easier because the more money you gave them, the better they treated you.Normally I would have involved the police in this and tagged this as a kidnapping and just given them the information I had and sat back while they did all the work, but I couldn't get myself involved with the police for any reason whatsoever.I got to the place and decided to lay low and wait for either of them to show up. I sat in my car waiting at Harold Street, beside a coffee shop. The time was some minutes after nine, and some shops were just opening, like the coffee shop. I ordered a latte while waiting for them and sat in my car waiting. After about ten minutes, a blue van showed up from behind me just across the street, beside the coffee shop. He slowed down and parked just opposite me, then honked to get my attention. I looked at the driver's seat and saw Carl driving. Mike poked his head out to wav

Adlyne’s POVI was left alone, sitting in a dark, empty room with just two chairs and a table, shivering at the future repercussions of what I had let us get ourselves into. What did the officer mean by what he said?I couldn't bring my head around it, well, not like I could anyway. My head was in shambles and my thoughts were in disarray.A little while later, a stout-looking man came inside and brought some food for me to munch on, which I accepted gratefully. While I ate, I could more or less guess what would happen to us. I wasn't aware of the situation or how exactly Crystal was caught with drugs, but it suddenly made sense why she had been avoiding me of late and behaving weird. She was selling drugs but didn't want me to know. I felt a little disappointed that she knew everything about me and what I did, but she still kept things from me, especially if the thing she kept got the both of us caught. But there was no use thinking about the situation. I was pretty sure that Emil

Crystal’s POV"Alright then, that'll be all for now. I'm really grateful for your cooperation. I'll be sure to make sure your sentence is greatly reduced. The information you've given us would be very important."As he said those words, he stood up with a book filled with scribbles he had written down during the course of our investigation. "Eeerrr, sure, but when can I get out of these cuffs? I'm not going to run away, and my hands hurt."I looked at him pleadingly. He watched for a bit. "Sure, whatever," he said, taking out a key from his pocket and uncuffing me. "Don't do anything I wouldn't do, Crystal."I nodded at him, rubbing my wrists together. "Sure thing," I smiled. Finally, I could move my hands around. Then he left the room, leaving me alone all over again with no one to talk to.I suddenly had thoughts on if the things I had told them would be of any help in finding Emily and the rest, because I really didn't want to take the fall for them, not one bit. My thoughts drif

Diamond's POVI read the text message again, wondering how exactly he found out about it. Could he have been stalking me? Diamond's POVI was left confused. I just woke up standing from the bed to see Nicholas with a cup of wine in hand staring into space. Diamond's POV“Nicholas don’t stop!” I pleaded, my entire body shuddered; it was a feeling I had never felt before.
