LOGINLiam's POV
“That we live under the same roof.” “Why?” She asked. “Because students in this school thrive on gossip and my privacy is important.” "Is that why I should keep it a secret?" She tilted her head, a smile pulling at her mouth. "I thought you liked attention.” My eyes stayed on her chest momentarily as her crossed hands lifted her boobs before I quickly snapped my eyes back to her face in an unnoticeable way. “Do you want to be the most talked about for the whole term?” I asked with a raised brow. “I don't mind.” She said with a shrug of her shoulders before she continued. “I will keep this secret on one condition.” “Which is?” She walked slowly till the space between the two of us was so small that I could smell her sweet smelling perfume. “You will show me your favorite section in the library.” “Just that?” She raised her index finger wagging it and said slowly with a wide smile on her way. “And we will make out there.” A low groan left my throat. “No way.” “Then…” she looked around with a thoughtful expression. “I guess there is no secret to keep.” She immediately turned her back pretending to walk away. I quickly held her hand, preventing her from walking away. I closed my eyes in defeat. “You win but it will be the last time.” “I doubt it will be the last time.” She said with a wide smile as if she just won a jackpot. Ding!! “That's the bell. You haven't even shown me enough places.I didn't get to see the cafeteria.” She complained. “Go back to your class.” “I will after you tell me when we will get our deal done.” “You decide.” “Tomorrow.” She said as she dipped her hand into my blazer pocket and took the chocolate bar that was in it which a little part of the wrapper was visible. She tore the wrapper then bit down slowly, chewed, then licked her finger clean. I shouldn't have found that as hot as I did. "See you after school." She turned and walked off. The way her hips moved, deliberate and unhurried, told me she knew exactly what she was doing. Her skirt clung to her like it was her second skin. Every step gave her ass a small shake I couldn't look away from. A bulge pressed against my trousers. I was getting hard for my own stepsister. I always have to remind myself that she isn't just the irresistible girl I met at the party but my stepsister, to stop myself from claiming her but she is so relentless in me breaking all boundaries. As I reached the stairs, she turned around and gave me a wink before she walked down the stairs. A faint smile plastered on my face. I watched her till she disappeared down the stairs, then I started walking away from the front of the library. I had just gotten down the stairs and was heading for my classroom when I crossed paths with Sarah. The one person I don't feel like talking to now. “Babe, I have been looking for you. Why didn't you come to the cafeteria for lunch?” She said in the same way that she always did that made me cave in. “We are over right, so don't call me babe anymore and you don't have to care.” I said as I moved to walk but she blocked my path. “I really didn't mean it. I have apologized.” “I don't want to have this conversation anymore.” I warned as I looked at her with a serious look. “No.” She said in denial. “We always break up and get back together. This time can't be different.” I moved away so that she wouldn't succeed in blocking my path again and walked away. “Who is the girl you brought to school today? Is it because of her?” She asked in an annoyed tone. I stopped in a track and turned sharply, this time my face hardened. “You should have thought about it before you cheated on me with that nerd. You think I don't see the way he looks at you?” “I was drunk and stupid and I caught you with someone at the party too, don't you think we are even.” She moved her hand to touch me but I held her wrist to stop her before she could. “I was with someone else after we broke up.” I closed my eyes and opened again with a crease on my forehead and said in a harsh tone. “Just stop Sarah. We are over.” Her eyes hardened, she removed her hand from my hold and gave me the look I am so used to seeing when she doesn't get what she wants. “I will give you space for now because we know you are talking bullshit. And I am watching that girl.” She ended her sentence with a scowl and walked away. I almost rolled my eyes as I turned to walk to my class. *** Vera's POV Maths class was so boring. I don't like chemistry but I am really bad at solving maths. The mathematics teacher had barely made it out of the classroom before the final bell rang. Students immediately started gathering their things. I did the same quickly. The last thing I needed was another round of questions or another pair of girls blocking my path. I shoved my books into my bag and walked out before anyone could stop me. The hallway was packed and loud. Voices bounced off the walls. Lockers banged shut one after the other. Shoes tapped and squeaked against the floor. Even with all that noise around me, I could still feel eyes following me. The stares had not stopped once the entire day. I finally made it outside and walked toward the spot where Liam had parked that morning. The afternoon breeze brushed softly across my face. It felt good after being inside all day. I waited for about three minutes. Then I saw him. He was walking out of the school building, moving through the crowd without rushing. He moved with ease as he didn't mind the eyes paying attention to him, so ironic for someone who says privacy is important. My eyes moved over him without my permission. He looked annoyingly good. The way he walked. The relaxed set of his shoulders. The way his hands stayed loose at his sides. My gaze dropped briefly to his waist as he moved. Stop it, Vera. He reached the car and opened the driver's door without looking up. I quickly rounded to the other side and climbed into the passenger seat. The engine started. A few moments later, we were pulling out of the school gates. Silence filled the car. My mind drifted back over the day. The whispers. The questions. The staring. The two girls at the classroom door. I glanced at Liam. His eyes were on the road. His jaw was relaxed and calm. "Spill it.” I heard him sayVera's POV"That his dad owns the school?" I asked, looking at her curiously. She smacked her forehead. "Of course not, silly," she laughed, shaking her head. "Liam is on the school's football team and, he is the captain."I gave her an unimpressed look. She narrowed her eyes at me. "Don't look at me like that.""I'm just listening," I said."You don't understand." She folded her arms and leaned closer to me. "He's amazing on the field. When he plays, it feels like the whole game belongs to him. Once Liam steps onto the pitch, everyone already believes we're going to win.""Oh?" I said, raising a brow."I'm serious," she went on, her eyes lighting up. "There was one game against another school where he got hurt halfway through. The coach told him to sit out and rest, but he walked right back onto the field to play."Then she paused, like she wanted me to feel the moment too. "And guess what happened?"I tilted my head, waiting."We won," she said proudly."Oh..." I murmured."And he's
Vera's POVI looked up and knew her right away. It was the girl from the other day. Queen.A smile tugged at the corner of my lips. "Hi.""You're going to the cafeteria, right?""Yes."Before I could say anything else, she slipped her arm through mine and locked our hands together. "Let's go together."A small laugh escaped me. "Okay."She grinned and practically pulled me toward the door. We walked out of the classroom together and joined the crowd of students moving through the hallway. The corridor buzzed with noise. Students talked loudly, some stood in little groups by the lockers while others hurried past with food already on their minds.I quietly followed Queen's lead. I hadn't been to the cafeteria since I started school. As we walked, I noticed students glancing at me. Some whispered, ohers just stared. I ignored them as I was already used to it.We were almost at the big doors at the end of the hallway when Queen suddenly pointed at a group of girls pretending not to look
Vera's POVThey walked into the building holding hands.Sarah was looking all happy. Her fingers were locked with Liam's, and for a second, I couldn't look away. Then they stopped walking.A male student came up to Liam and pulled him into a conversation. Sarah stood beside him, smiling and adding small comments here and there.Until her eyes found mine.A slow smile spread across her face. The kind of smile that made my stomach twist. She let her gaze slide over me, then lifted her hand and touched Liam's jaw, slow and easy, like she had every right to.My blood ran cold. I didn't feel angry or betrayed instead I felt unsure.Liam ended things between us. Then he went straight back to Sarah? He prefers going back to his failed relationship than giving us a try?The thought sat heavy in my chest as I stayed rooted on the spot where I stood.Around me, students were already talking."They are really back together. They can't resist each other.”“Team they separated forever are going to
Vera's POVI could feel the hair on my back rise. I turned back to look at him."Forgot what?"Without thinking, I stepped closer. The space between us was gone and our bodies were almost touching. And my stupid heart was beating so loud, I could hear it.For a second, neither of us moved. Then Liam lifted his hand between us, putting some distance back. "Your book."I blinked, my eyes moved to his raised hand.He had my book in his hand.I quickly grabbed it, but before I could say a word, someone knocked on the door.I quickly snatched the book from Liam's hand and stepped back from him fast.Liam didn't even flinch. He simply walked to the door and opened it.A smile appeared on his face right away."Good morning, Alyssa.""Good morning, Liam."My mum's cheerful voice floated into the room. "Is Vera in there with you?"My eyes went wide.Without wasting a second, I squeezed through the small gap between Liam and the door. The space was so tight I almost tripped. As I pushed past hi
Vera's POVToday is Friday, the last day I have to go to school this week. After the day at the library, Liam has been avoiding holding conversation. All we do is go to school and come back. Nothing more.I wouldn't lie, it was getting to me.I walked out of my room with a book in my hand and stood in front of Liam's bedroom door. I made sure I woke up earlier than usual, because I now know he leaves his room early to get a drink from the kitchen.I stood there for a moment, took a breath, then opened three buttons of my shirt, enough to show skin. I pushed the door open and walked in.He sat behind his desk, writing something with concentration and frustration written on his face. His head snapped toward the door the moment it opened.I shut the door behind me."What are you doing in my room?" he asked, his pen still in his hand."I need your help.” I said as I walked closer to where he sat and I couldn't help but stare at his shirtless upper body. He wore just loose shorts, my eyes
Vera's POVI looked at him, confused. "Stop what?""Whatever this is between us.""Why should we, all of a sudden?""We almost got caught. And we're step siblings.""But we didn't get caught, and I already agreed to keep us being step siblings a secret." I raised my hand to touch his chest, but he stepped backward, putting space between us."I'm serious. You should head back to class."He turned his back and started to leave, his shoulders stiff…. but I couldn't help but ask, then he stopped mid-step."What were you and Sarah talking about this morning? Is that why you suddenly want this to stop?"His hands curled into fists at his sides and he said in a controlled voice like he was holding something heavy behind his teeth."We had a deal. Make sure you keep to your end of it."I watched him walk away until he disappeared around the corner."Damn it." I dragged a hand down my face.Liam was such a dickhead, even though I liked him. One minute we were tangled up in each other, breathle
Vera's POV I stood still, the glass of water frozen in my hand. What the heck? "I should be the one asking you that." He said with his eyes carrying suspicion. My eyes went wide as I stared at him across the kitchen counter. The same guy from last night. The same guy whose lips had pressed aga
Vera's POVLiam stopped moving right away. His face showed clear surprise. His hand pulled away from my waist so fast, like my skin had burned him."What are you doing here, Sarah? We broke up, remember?"His voice sounded more shocked than guilty. My chest was still moving up and down fast from ev
Vera's POV"Yes, I am."I replied before I even thought about the words I said."Welcome." She said, still with that warm smile on her face. She stepped aside to give me enough space to enter.I walked into the office."Off you go to class, Liam." I heard her say the words behind me.I didn't look
Vera's POV "I saw him with a new girl, Anita." My eyes would not leave Andrea across the crowded party hall. A blonde girl was sitting on his lap while he whispered something into her ear that made her laugh very loudly. My chest hurt badly. After I lost my dad in a fire accident when I was fourte
