LOGINARIA POV
"Ding!" The doorbell rang For a moment, I didn’t move–didn’t blink. Quinn, on the other hand, was already on his feet. "I'll get it," he said quickly, a childish eagerness creeping into his voice. I wasn't ready to witness another dramatic reunion but I guess I had to anyways. "Of course." I answered. Two days. That’s how short it had taken for this moment to arrive. Two days since Quinn had informed me—rather casually—that Zachary and Athena would be visiting. Two days of restless sleep and pretending that my heart didn’t clench every time I remembered him I stood still, forcing myself to appear composed. The door swung open. "Quinn!" Athena’s voice rang out. She pulled him into a tight embrace, her hands clutching his shoulders like she hadn't seen him since forever. "My boy," she murmured. "You've lost weight." Quinn chuckled. "Mum, I just saw you two months ago." "And that means I can't worry?" she snapped, pulling back to scan him from head to toe. “Are you eating properly?” "She hasn't changed a bit." I thought. Heavy makeup, always on heals and false nails. Trying to go back to the youthful days she can never be opportuned to go back to. I swallowed. Zachary stood just behind her, hands in his pockets, posture relaxed. When his eyes lifted and met mine, time seemed to freeze. He smiled. Not a polite smile. Not a casual one. A flirty smile—the same one that had made me an expectant mother. I looked away immediately, my jaw tightening. "Don’t." "Don't look at him, don't react." I warned myself. I hadn’t realized how much I had missed his presence until it stood right in front of me, breathing the same air. "Get a grip, Aria." I told myself. The man I had chosen over my husband. I stole another glance before I could stop myself. He looked… simple. No effort. No pretense. Just Zachary. And somehow, that made him more dangerous. More captivating. "Great genes," I thought bitterly. "My child would definitely inherit his face." Just not his beastly character. "Mum," Quinn said warmly. It's so nice to have you here." Athena smiled wider at that, clearly pleased. That was my cue to greet. I stepped forward. "Hi, Mum—" She cut me off instantly. "I'm not your mum,"Athena said sharply, her smile vanishing. it's just Athena. Get that straight." She brushed past me like I wasn’t even there, heels clicking against floor as she entered the house. I stood frozen, humiliation washed me. Quinn didn’t say a word. Not a single one. I clenched my fists. Three years. Three years of marriage, and I had grown accustomed to this treatment. Athena never liked me, never hid it either. And Quinn—sweet, loyal Quinn—never once defended me. A typical mum’s boy. "Bring her bags in,"I said to Ian, our chief driver, breaking the silence. "Yes, ma'am," he replied, quickly moving to comply. "Take them upstairs." Quinn added. We all gathered around the dining table soon after. The maids served the food. Chateau Athena looked around, unimpressed. "A lot has changed about this house." "This house,"she began, clicking her tongue, "lacks vibes, Quinn." Quinn frowned slightly. "What about it?" "The paintings?" he continued,. "Aria worked hard on the color combination." His eyes didn't move towards me just for once. Athena waved her hand dismissively. "That's not what I meant." "Then what did you mean?" Quinn asked. "The house isn’t lively,"she replied , scanning the room as if searching for faults. "It feels… empty." I resisted the urge to laugh. "Funny," I thought. "Because that’s exactly how this marriage feels." A marriage where the mother decides what goes on in her son's life. Zachary cleared his throat, breaking the silence. "I think the house is lovely," he said calmly. "No flaws. Minimal maids. Clean. Peaceful." Quinn shot him a warning glare. One thing about Zachary that amazes me, is the way he uses one word to describe things when with other people, but funny how he could be a chatterbox when I was around. "No one asked for your opinion," Quinn snapped. "This is a family discussion, and you're not included. Eat in peace." Zachary leaned back slightly, unfazed, though I noticed the tightening of his jaw yet composed. Athena smirked. "And the kids?"she continued speaking with disdain. "No one to say, 'Granny, we missed you.'" She turned sharply toward Quinn. "It's high time you divorced and took another wife instead of staying with this barren woman." The words didn't hit deep, it would have, if she came weeks ago but not any longer, I wasn't who she mirrored me, I was more, an expectant mother and because of people like her I was willing to keep the baby and disappoint her. "There we go again,"I muttered under my breath. Athena scoffed. "You sure have got some guts to talk back at me." "Mum," Quinn said firmly but there was warmth in it not meant to correct or reprimand his mother. "A new wife won’t change anything." Athena shrugged. "It's the truth. If no one else will tell you, then I will." "That's enough, Athena," Zachary suddenly said, banging his fist on the table. "Silence isn't weakness. It's withdrawal from acting foolish." Zachary added. I saw Athena's face change, she tightened the grip on her cutlery. Fury was the word for it. That simple action, I felt overwhelmed with love, tears clouded my eyes, happy that someone I love was defending me. "Break it...looks like you learnt carpentry." I murmured under my breath, Zachary chuckled. "In whose house, huh?" Quinn stood abruptly, his eyes blazed with anger as he stared at Zachary. "Sit dow, Quinn." I urged trying to ease the tension. "As who exactly?" he continued harshly. "My best friend who fucked my mother behind my back, or my new stepfather?" The room became silent that even slow breathes could be heard No one spoke. Not Athena. Not Zachary. Not even the maids dared to utter a word.Aria."Zachary. Go home." I urged. I did not want him to leave, but I had to say it."Anywhere you're is home." He responded. His eyes locked on mine. He stood there by my bed.I let out a slow breath. Quinn had left earlier. He said he had urgent business to attend to. He could not stay with me for the night. Part of me felt relieved. Now it was just Zachary and me.I knew I had to persuade Zachary to leave too. His absence would be noticed if he stayed too long. People would talk. Earlier, when I fell, he carried me in his arms. Quinn saw it. That already looked odd. If they found out Zachary spent the night here, it would look even stranger. I could not risk that. Not now.But my body did not listen to my words. My fingers grabbed the hem of his outfit tightly. I held on without thinking.I did not want to let go. I wished he could stay right here, close to me, all night."Your actions says otherwise." He said as he looked down at my hand.I realized what I was doing. "Sorry." I l
Author POVQuinn entered his car and also followed behind Zachary's car. Zachary's vehicle pulled out ahead, moving fast through the streets. Quinn stayed right behind, matching every turn without a gap.Zachary lost his composure, the woman he loves was in danger, he forgot she didn't want to be seen in public places with him, she didn't want the attention and most importantly she didn't want Quinn to have a reason to become suspicious, but his actions could arouse suspicion. They reached the hospital entrance. Zachary slammed his door and moved quick to the passenger side. He helped Aria out, his arm around her waist. Quinn parked nearby and stepped out, his shoes hitting the ground hard. He walked up without a word, eyes locked on them."Emergency. Now." Zachary ordered, his voice loud almost like yelling. The nurses looked up fast. They dragged a stretcher fast while another quickly called the attention of the Doctors. Zachary's face was fierce, hard to resist, the hospital knew
Author's POV "I was just kidding." Quinn said and burst out laughing, but to Aria it didn't seem like that, it felt real, his facial expression changed, he gripped her neck tight and almost suffocated her. It wasn't a joke...it felt real, it seemed real. "Loosen up, it's really nothing deep." He rubbed his palm on her cheek. To Aria, there was withdrawal despite Quinn's words. He had declared, "I was just kidding," before suddenly bursting out laughing. Yet it didn't register as humor for her; instead, it felt entirely real. His facial expression had shifted noticeably as he gripped her neck tight, nearly suffocating her in the process. The incident wasn't a joke in her perception. It felt real, and it seemed real. ★★★ Aria's body relaxed as Zachary's hands gripped her waist, pulling her closer against him. His lips brushed her ear teasingly. He chuckled softly, "You're pregnant you shouldn't do this, you know that?" he whispered, his fingers tracing her skin. He kissed her neck
Aria"For the umpteenth time, that's enough Quinn." I yelled at him, he froze for a whileHe stood there by the door, arms loaded with shiny bags from those fancy stores, my stores actually, the kind with gold lettering that screamed money. Another day, another pile of gifts. Designer baby clothes, soft blankets and those ridiculous oversized teddy bears. I wanted to shove it all back at him.Every single day it was the same. New gifts, designer items, sometimes flowers that wilthered on the nightstand before I could even tend to it . And the crazy thing? He never listened. Not once.He acted like the perfect husband in moments—smiling that practiced smile, eyes soft as if he could rewrite our story. But we both knew the real him. The one who slipped out at odd hours, the one whose phone buzzed with messages he deleted too quickly. Multiple girlfriends. Lies stacked on lies. The only reason this marriage still existed was that damn prenup. One solid proof of cheating, and the claus
ZacharyEver since Quinn came back, with all the chaos of the pregnancy and everything that followed, Aria had never once ignored me when I felt the need to have her by my side. She always made sure I didn't feel neglected, not even for once. But this day was different. She didn't respond to my message. She read the message and then few minutes later, I watched her grab her coat and head out the door . I stood there in that corner watching her leave. Not anger. Curiosity ignited in me. I messaged, because I was going to give her the property documents to the stores, when I told her at first, she didn't believe me but she didn't say much, she felt I was just teasing but I meant every statement I uttered so far as it wa directed towards her. What could make her be in that much of a hurry?Something was off. I grabbed my keys without thinking twice.I saw fear across her face when she glanced back once, her eyes darting like she was scared of being followed. I saw nervousness in the way
Aria30 minutes... 30 whole minutes. That was how long I sat there, my fingers tapping the table every and any time.I kept glancing at the door, then at my phone. At some point, I pushed my chair back a little, ready to stand up and leave it all behind. I started to question myself, real questions. Why am I even here? But just as I started to rise up, the door swung open.Mikasa walked in gracefully, her steps loud that eyes turned to her as she made her way in. She scanned the room once, and when her eyes landed on me, a sly smile curved her lips. "You're that eager to hear what I have to say?" she asked, dragging a chair out, she sat into, crossing her legs.I leaned back, crossing my arms. The orange juice in front of me suddenly tasted sour in my mouth, "Get to it," I said, my voice flat. I wasn't in the mood for games or small talk. Not today. "Calm down," she replied, reaching across without asking. She took a slow sip from my orange juice, her eyes never leaving mine. The ca
