The luxury sedan finally came to a stop at the lobby entrance of one of the most elite private hospitals in the capital. The glass-dominated façade reflected the silhouettes of Kael and Hellena as they stepped out almost simultaneously.

"Get out," Kael said shortly, without a trace of emotion.

Hellena nodded obediently. Her fingers tightened around the strap of her work bag as she tried to suppress the pounding of her heart. From the whirlwind of Herry's betrayal and the rushed civil marriage earlier that day, she now had to step onto a new stage of deception: becoming a loving wife in front of the CEO's mother.

They walked into the main lobby. The strong scent of antiseptic immediately assaulted her senses. Kael strode forward with long, decisive steps, while Hellena lagged slightly behind, trying to conceal the pain in her ankle that had been sprained the night before.

"Can you walk?" Kael asked flatly without bothering to look back.

"Yes, Sir."

"Good. Don't look nervous or limp in front of my mother," Kael said coldly.

Hellena held her breath for a moment, pushing aside her physical discomfort.

"I understand."

The private VIP elevator carried them smoothly to the top floor. As soon as the elevator doors opened with a soft chime, the head nurse immediately greeted them with a respectful bow.

"Mr. Kael, Madam Hansel has been waiting for you inside."

Kael merely gave a faint nod in response. However, just before they crossed the threshold of the hospital room, an unfamiliar warmth suddenly wrapped around Hellena's fingers. Kael took her hand, intertwining their fingers tightly.

Hellena flinched in surprise, but she restrained herself from pulling away. Kael's hand felt warm and firm.

"Use your best skills," Kael whispered in a very low voice near her ear. "Play your role perfectly."

The teakwood door swung open.

Inside the spacious, quiet VIP ward equipped with every modern facility, a middle-aged woman with a pale face lay weakly on the bed. Hearing the door open, she slowly turned her head.

"Kael..."

Her voice sounded hoarse and weak, yet the remnants of her authority as the matriarch of the family were still evident.

Kael stepped toward the bedside, bringing Hellena with him. For the first time in five years of working for him, Hellena saw the hardness in the CEO's face soften slightly.

"Mother," Kael greeted gently.

Madam Hansel's weary eyes slowly shifted, settling completely on Hellena, who stood upright beside her son. Her brows furrowed, suspicion clearly visible in her gaze.

"Who is this woman, Kael?"

Hellena swallowed hard.

Her plus-size figure beneath her formal attire suddenly made her feel awkward under the older woman's scrutinizing stare.

Kael gently pulled Hellena a little closer, narrowing the distance between them as though shielding her.

"Mother, let me introduce you. This is Hellena."

Madam Hansel narrowed her eyes, studying Hellena's face, which seemed vaguely familiar.

"Your personal secretary? The one you often talk about?"

"Not just my secretary, Mother," Kael interrupted calmly and convincingly. "She is my wife."

Silence instantly swept through the room.

Madam Hansel stared at him in shock, her chest rising and falling rapidly.

"What did you say? Your wife?"

"We officially registered our marriage this morning," Kael continued without the slightest hesitation in his eyes.

"That's impossible!" Madam Hansel slowly shook her head, unable to believe what she was hearing. "Kael, never use something as sacred as this to comfort your sick mother."

Kael let out a faint sigh. He raised their still-intertwined hands and showed them to his mother.

"We've been in a relationship for the past year, Mother. We had to keep it hidden from the public because of Hellena's position as my secretary. I didn't want malicious rumors to affect her performance at work."

Hellena was momentarily stunned by how smoothly Kael delivered the lie.

However, her professionalism as a senior secretary immediately took over. She put on her best smile and nodded gently, making her expression as soft as possible.

"That's true, Mother," Hellena said softly but firmly. "Please forgive us for only telling you now. We were simply waiting for the right moment."

Madam Hansel stared directly into Kael's eyes, searching for any trace of deception.

"So you've truly been together for a year?"

"Yes, Mother."

"And you let your own mother beg for a daughter-in-law every day without telling her anything?"

Her voice trembled between disbelief and emotion.

A faint smile appeared on Kael's lips—a smile that looked completely genuine in his mother's eyes.

"I'm sorry, Mother."

"Where's the proof? I won't believe it without official documents," she demanded, still holding onto a hint of skepticism.

Without a word, Kael set down his briefcase, took out the black folder they had brought from the civil registry office, and placed it on his mother's lap.

With trembling fingers weakened by illness, Madam Hansel opened the folder. Her eyes widened completely as she read the names printed inside, along with the fresh official government seal.

"You... you really are married..."

Kael nodded quietly.

Madam Hansel closed her eyes tightly. A single tear slipped from the corner of her wrinkled eye.

"I thought... I thought you would never open your heart to another woman again, Kael."

Kael chose to remain silent, his expression once again unreadable.

Slowly, Madam Hansel opened her eyes and extended the hand connected to an IV line toward Hellena.

"Come here, child. Come closer to Mother."

Hellena stepped forward carefully. The older woman's thin hand, cool yet gentle, immediately clasped hers firmly.

The clinking of crystal glasses and the lively strains of the symphony gradually faded as the main lights of the grand ballroom flickered several times. The host stepped onto the magnificent stage, urging all the invited guests to direct their full attention to the highlight of the evening's celebration. From behind the crimson velvet curtain at the side of the stage, Kael William Smith finally appeared. He looked exceptionally dashing in a custom-made black Italian tuxedo that perfectly accentuated his well-built frame. Beside him, Mrs. Hansel walked gracefully in an emerald-green evening gown, smiling warmly as she greeted rows of business associates and members of the media whose camera flashes never stopped sparkling.Thunderous applause echoed throughout every corner of the ballroom.Standing motionless in the aisle below the stage, Hellena fixed her bright, round eyes entirely on the man she loved so deeply. A sincere and gentle smile adorned her plum-colored lips. An overwhelmi

The long-awaited night had finally arrived. The grand ballroom of the five-star hotel in the heart of the city had been transformed into a breathtaking celebration venue, adorned with thousands of crystal chandeliers and the dazzling melodies of classical music. The 30th anniversary celebration of Smith Group was attended not only by elite business figures and high-ranking officials but also by dozens of renowned media reporters who were already standing by with their cameras along the red carpet.Meanwhile, in the master bedroom of the Smith family's mansion, Hellena stood before a full-length mirror, her breathing calm and steady. She examined her appearance from head to toe. Earlier that morning, Kael had reminded her to get ready early because he had to arrive at the venue ahead of time to oversee the technical preparations with the board of directors. However, even as the clock struck seven in the evening—the time Kael had promised to send a driver to pick her up—he still had not

The cool air from the air conditioner slowly filled the silence of the master bedroom. Kael gazed at Hellena’s curvaceous back as she lay facing away from him beneath the thick blanket. Hearing the steady rhythm of his wife’s breathing, Kael curved his lips into a faint smile. He knew all too well how exhausting the day had been for the woman he loved dearly. Kael did not want to impose on her when Hellena was in such a foul mood.“Go to sleep, darling,” Kael whispered very softly near Hellena’s ear. The man pressed a warm kiss to the crown of her head before finally moving away from the bed.Kael walked slowly toward the bathroom to clean himself up. The cold shower water cascaded over his broad, well-built body, washing away the remnants of exhaustion after a day spent dealing with office matters and tension at home.A few minutes later, Kael emerged from the bathroom wearing casual trousers, with a small towel draped around his neck. His black hair was still wet and slightly dishev

Hellena threw her curvy body onto the bed with a soft, ragged breath. The burning sensation in her chest had yet to subside. Every moment of having to face Mrs. Hansel and Vivian downstairs kept replaying over and over in her mind.Hellena let out an irritated huff, clutching the corner of her pillow tightly. "That scheming woman..." she muttered through gritted teeth. She knew very well that her mother-in-law's sudden coldness and suspicion were nothing more than the result of the poisonous lies Vivian had been feeding her. Her kind and caring mother-in-law had undoubtedly been completely deceived by that blonde woman's performance.Click.The bedroom door slowly opened.Kael's steady footsteps echoed as he entered the room. He draped his expensive suit jacket over the chair near the door, and his gaze immediately landed on his wife, who was pouting on the bed.Seeing Hellena's puffed-up cheeks and stubborn frown, Kael curved his lips into a faint smile. Hellena’s footsteps felt slightly heavy as she entered the courtyard of the Smith family mansion. Kael’s car was nowhere to be seen in the main garage, indicating that her husband might still be held up by work or an unexpected meeting. Hellena let out a long sigh, intending to head straight to the bedroom upstairs to freshen up and rest. However, the moment she stepped through the front door, the atmosphere in the living room felt extremely strange. The air inside was so cold and stiff that it seemed to drain away the warmth that usually welcomed her home. On the luxurious sofa facing the entrance, Mommy Hansel sat with her body upright and rigid. Beside her, Vivian Wheeler sat with her arms crossed, wearing a faint smile filled with triumph and mockery. “Hellena,” Mommy Hansel called. Her voice was no longer as warm as it usually was. Her tone sounded very flat, formal, and distant. “Sit down. There’s something important the three of us need to discuss.” Hellena narrowed her

Hellena walked out of the CEO's office with her chin held higher than before. The warmth in her chest still lingered intensely after watching the pages of their contract agreement be torn apart in Kael's hands. The doubt and fear that had weighed heavily on her since morning seemed to have vanished, replaced by a courage she had never felt before. As she walked along the main corridor on the third floor, where the Finance and Public Relations Departments were located, Hellena suddenly slowed her steps. In the middle of the bustling cubicle area, Vivian Wheeler's crisp voice rang out clearly through the air."Yes, of course. Mr. Smith is a very private person when it comes to his personal life," Vivian said with a graceful yet forced smile, brushing the shoulder of her expensive dress as she stood before a group of female employees. "That's why we decided not to make it public until the official event. But believe me, our families have already agreed on everything. We're just waiting f
