Mag-log inNilah's Pov
“You are the only living heir to the Serene Moon Pack, Miss Nilah and we have been looking for you for a very long time." The words hit me like a physical blow. I froze, the lab phone nearly slipping from my numb fingers. "The Serene Moon Pack? Did you just say..." I trailed off, my mind racing through every legend I’d ever heard. The Serene MoonPack was like the king of the northern territories, a mystical sanctuary people had spent decades trying to find. They were rumored to be blessed by the Moon Goddess herself, possessing healing abilities so potent they could purge silver from the blood with a mere touch. "That’s impossible," I stammered, a hysterical laugh bubbling in my chest. "The Serene Moon Pack is a myth. And even if it weren't... I’m an Omega, Asher. I have no power. My wolf is too weak to even shift." "You are an Omega because your wolf was suppressed for so many years," Asher countered, his voice dropping into a protective growl. "Your nature has been muffled by the people you've been surrounded by. For years, they made you work under them, with only scraps of love that they showed to you, you gave them your heart." Asher said, self loathing in his voice."This is our fault. If we had found you faster, then none of this would have happened. You would never have led this life. Miss, you don't know just what the council of that pack you are staying in has been planning for you all the years. If you knew..." Asher trailed off, not wanting to say any other thing about the council. "Our Alpha, your father, is dying. The pack is vulnerable. We need you to come home, Nilah, or the Serene Moon Pack will truly become a ghost story."
The Council had plans for me? What sort of plans? From the tone of his voice, it's surely not a good one. But I couldn't believe him, at least not immediately. "You've got the wrong person," I whispered, though my heart was beginning to hammer against my ribs. "The Alpha told me my parents were rogues who died in a skirmish. He wouldn't lie to me about that..." But as the words left my lips, I realized how hollow they sounded. If Kendric could poison me under everyone's nose for my research, who is to say that there aren't others involved in this? "I am sending you a file," Asher said, breaking me out of my thoughts. "It was taken before the night you were kidnapped during the Great Raid. Nilah, your existence is like a holy grail. Anyone who has you, has the world." My phone chimed. With shaking fingers, I opened the image. It was a photograph. A man with eyes exactly like mine, amber-flecked and piercing, was holding a dark-haired toddler. Around the child's neck was a silver locket. I gasped, my hand flying to my chest. I didn't have the locket anymore; Kendrick had 'lost' it years ago, calling it rogue junk. But I remembered the cold weight of it. I looked closer at the child’s wrist in the photo, a tiny crescent moon birthmark. It matched the one I had hidden under bracelets my entire life. "It's... it's really me," I whispered. The world tilted on its axis. "Nilah?" Asher’s voice brought me back. "We have a transport waiting two miles outside your pack borders. Your father wants to look at you one last time before he passes. The pack needs you. I know you don't possibly trust me now but it won't do you any harm to make sure of it. If you don't like it, then you can leave. But don't be quick to refuse.” I looked at my hands, vibrant, healthy, and untainted by the poison that had claimed my first life. This wasn't just a second chance to survive; it was a chance to be who I was born to be. “If you're telling the truth, I'll come,” I answered, my voice turning to flint. “But I need three days to tie up my loose ends. Just three days.” “I will be there in three days, Young Miss,” Asher replied, his tone shifting to one of deep reverence. Then, he paused. “One more question. Do you have a mate?” I touched the fake, inked mark on my neck, feeling a wave of revulsion. “No,” I said firmly. “I don't have a mate.” “Understood, Young Miss. I'll come to pick you up in three days.”Nilah's Pov I pursed my lips. What the hell do they want me for this time? Well, the ceremony was in less than 24 hours so it probably has to do with it. “Alright then.” I murmured, “Let's go.” Mira and I walked out of my room, shutting the door behind us. As we walked towards the council house, I could feel stares. It came from behind, sideways, everywhere. I frowned. What's happening now? “Nilah, you're here.” Sera called out. We hadn't even gotten near the council house but there were a lot of people gathered outside, and by people I mean council members included. “Yeah. What's happening?” I asked Sera who smiled and shook her head. “It's nothing much. Since tomorrow is the ceremony, we've decided to announce your identity to everyone here and now. The other children of the late Alpha are here as well. Since you came here, you've not crossed paths with them due to their schedule. But they'll be here for your ceremony.” Sera explained. “My siblings?” I raised an ey
Nilah's Pov *What the hell is going on?!* I screamed internally, my hands clutching the silver strands so tightly my knuckles turned white. “What did you do to me?” "Calm yourself, Nilah. You are simply awakening.” “Awakening? What the hell are you talking about?” My heart hammered against my ribs. I stumbled backward, my hands flying up to my collarbone as a sudden, sharp tug flared in the center of my chest. I looked down to see the stone had changed its position on my chest. Previously, it sat high enough against my sternum that I could run my fingernails along all its edges and corners. It was a foreign object stuck into me. But now? It had sunk deeper. Flesh and new skin had aggressively grown over the margins, sealing the stone into my body as if my own anatomy was claiming it. Worse, spiderwebs of glowing silver streaks were pulsing outward from the stone, veins of foreign energy anchoring themselves beneath my skin. It looked like a living parasite settling into its
Nilah's Pov The stone floor felt like blocks of ice beneath my palms, but the cold did absolutely nothing to soothe the burning pain tearing through my muscles. I tried to push myself up, planting my hands flat against the surface, but a sharp wave of pain rippled through my shoulders. It shot straight down my spine, into my ribs and then settled deep into my legs. This wasn’t a normal ache, it wasn’t the kind of soreness you got from a brutal training session or a bad fall either. It was the exact same pain I had just felt seconds ago. Every single part of my body groaned in protest as I tried to get up. For a terrifying second, I wondered if I was paralyzed, if whatever I had felt or seen in that vision, or dream had left me unable to move. But staying on the ground wasn't an option. I had to get up. I had to move, even if it killed me. Gritting my teeth until my jaw ached, I forced my weight onto my knees. The simple movement made my head spin, a wave of nausea washing over
Nilah's Pov “Ni…! Nil…! Nilah!” “Ah!” I gasped awake, my eyes snapping open. A sharp pain stung at my eyes and head, making me gasp once more. “Nilah, are you okay? You can stop if you want to. Let's not do this anymore, okay?” An unfamiliar voice rang in my ears, concerned and scared. But that wasn't any of my concern, scents I had never smelled before rushed into my nose. Flowers, herbs, people, everything mixed in at once, the smell was so clear that I almost stopped myself from breathing because it was too much. At one point, I couldn't differentiate it. My chest felt like it was trapped in a tight cage. "Nilah! Speak to me!" the voice called out again, but it sounded like it was underwater. The sound buzzed and echoed in my ears, making my head spin even faster. The entire place was moving even though I couldn't even see my surroundings at all. I tried to look around to see who was talking to me, but my vision was blurring at the edges. Black spots danced in front of m
Nilah's Pov My hand froze over the notepad. I had never made a connection between that hospital incident and my life now. I had been so overwhelmed with grief and pain back then that I didn't think much of the moment I woke up and gradually, I just forgot about it until now. But now, looking at the pattern on the paper, I couldn't help but try to make sense of it. From the very beginning, from the exact moment the Silver Moon Pack took me in as a child, they’ve been doing things to me. They’ve been trying to weaken my body, to isolate me, and eventually, to fake my death. But for what purpose? What did the Silver Moon Pack want with a girl like me who didn't even know about her true identity until months ago? A scary thought crept into my mind. Does anyone on that council know my true identity? But that didn't make sense either. Me being the one and only female Alpha of one of the most powerful, famous, and legendary clans in werewolf history would have brought them immense g
Nilah's Pov My breath was fast as I stared at the man in front of me. The music from the party was still playing in the background, but to me, the world had gone completely quiet. My head was spinning. A copy of me? Someone who shared my exact face was sitting in my old pack, about to stand next to Kendrick as he became Alpha? It didn't make any sense. Why would there be anyone who looks exactly like me?! It was even rare that twins looked exactly the same as each other, so how come?? It's impossible! “Who asked him to take this Lady Vivienne as his mate? Was he forced?!” I turned back to the man, my voice trembling slightly. I tried to keep my face calm, but my hands were shaking so much that I had to ball them into fists. The fact that this new woman apparently looked just like me made red signs hover in the air. A terrible, dark feeling was growing deep inside my gut. The man blinked at me, looking a bit startled by how intense I was being. He swallowed hard before answerin
Chapter 5 Nilah's Pov “Click.” I drawled slowly as I lowered my phone, the screen still glowing with the photo I’d just snapped of them entwined in the study. I stared at the image of Kendrick’s hands on Stephanie, the same hands that would eventually feed me poison, and a cold sneer curled my
Nilah's Pov The line went dead. I stared at the blank screen for a moment before I raised my head. To my shock, I was in front of my house. When did I even get here? I sighed and walked into the house and when I stepped through the front door, I nearly collided with Kendrick. He wasn't alone. Ste
Nilah's Pov A gasp tore out of my throat, sharp and jagged, like a blade. “Ah!” I bolted upright, my heart hammering a frantic rhythm against my ribs. “Hold on… My heart is beating?” The smell of antiseptic and blood was gone, replaced by the faint and comforting scent of my room and perfume.
Nilah's POV “Ack! Ack!” A cough hacked through my body, making me tremble from weakness. A tired breath escaped my lips as I looked around, feeling weaker than ever. The hospital room I was in smelled of antiseptic and the slow, creeping scent of my own body which was gradually decaying. For six
