登入KAIDA REED POV
I slowly let go of the wheels, the sound of my pounding heart drowning out that of the rain.
Then I blinked, my eyes moving in the direction of the car I’d almost hit. I couldn’t see much of anything, but I could tell they were reversing.
My heart skipped a beat.
Were they coming to check on me...or for something else?
The car slowed, then stopped a few feet from me.
I sucked in a sharp breath and held it as I heard them open the door.
Was I in danger? This road was eerily empty and I was all alone. I also didn’t know where the hell I was.
A figure stepped out of the car.
I noticed his height first, then his build—it was the kind of build that belonged to someone who could crush you without effort—but it wasn’t that that froze me in place.
It was the way he moved, measured and hungry, like a hunter savoring the moment before the kill.
It wasn't very comforting.
I clutched at my seatbelt, my mouth drying as I waited.
He stopped in front of my car and even though there was a barrier between us, I could feel the power rolling off him in waves.
I couldn’t tell what he was thinking as he stared at me—or through me. It made my pulse stutter, even as my instinct screamed 'danger.'
He tilted his head slightly, as if weighing me, then without a word, he raised his hand and tapped the hood of my car once, his knuckles rapping against the metal like a warning.
My mind screamed at me to get my phone and call the cops, but my body refused to move.
This place was deserted. If I did anything stupid, no one would find my body for days.
He waited a beat then bent down, low enough to peer through my windshield, his eyes digging into mine.
Then he smiled. It wasn’t kind, but it wasn’t cruel either.
It was almost as if he was impressed.
But all too soon, the smile was gone, and then he mouthed the words, "Get out."
It was an order.
I hesitated. He could be a serial killer for all I knew.
He watched me for a few seconds, then deliberately let his gaze flick to my car’s handle before moving back to me. It was a silent warning. As if he were saying, 'Get out, or I'll get you out.'
Taking a deep breath, I grabbed my phone with a trembling hand, unlocked my seatbelt, and pushed the door open.
The cold rain soaked me instantly, my dress clinging to my body, sharp and humiliating as I stepped out of the car.
He was standing close—so close that I could smell the faint, clean scent of smoke and rain on him.
I slowly raised my chin, forcing myself to meet his haunting gaze.
He was even more overwhelming up close.
He stood just short of touching me, but his presence pressed in all the same and it made me nervous.
He didn't speak. Just watched. And I got the distinct, dangerous feeling that if I ran, he would let me—just so he could follow.
"I'm sorry," I stuttered out. "I was driving without paying attention and almost—"
"Are you hurt?" he asked, cutting me off.
I blinked, the sound of his voice messing with my mind for a second. It was low. Rough. Dangerous.
"I'm fine," I answered carefully.
He smirked. "No. You're not." his face dropped between us. "See, you're clenching your phone so tightly while your other hand is trembling." Then he looked up, his eyes locking onto mine. "Do you think I am going to hurt you, Kaida?"
My pulse jumped. How the hell did he know my name?
I opened my mouth, the question of who he was on the tip of my tongue, but he cut me off by stepping too close all of a sudden.
I took a sharp step back and gasped, my eyes widening in alarm as my back pressed against the car door.
"What do you think you're doing!" I gasped, then flinched as he slammed his hand beside me, his towering frame blocking out my view as he leaned in.
"You drove into my alley, right into my territory, and almost crashed your car into mine... You were driving," he murmured, his voice a dark caress, "like you were running from something." The rain beat harder against us, thunder rumbling overhead. "Or toward it." He cocked a brow. "Were you, by chance, looking for me?"
I blinked, shivering. Could he hear just how loud my heart was beating?
"No." I wet my lips, heat coiling low as his eyes followed the movement. "I don't even know who you are."
He smirked. "You don't? Hmm," he tilted his head. "I find that hard to believe, Kaida. Everyone knows this alley belongs to me. They also know to stay away if they want to keep breathing."
I stared at him, my eyes widening as I realized who he was.
There was only one man in the city who had an alleyway to himself. Zavian Nolven. The man who ruled with unrivaled authority over most of the corporations in the city. He was a billionaire, but what he was most known for was his ruthlessness. There were even rumours that he was part of the Mafia.
I suddenly remembered rumors about people going missing after using his alleyway.
Could those rumors be true? Was that what was going to happen to me?
He let the silence stretch until it tangled around me like a noose, every second making it harder for me to breathe.
Then just like he'd invaded my space, he stepped back as if granting me a mercy I hadn't earned.
"I'll let you go tonight Kaida. But if we meet like this again, I won't be so forgiving," he said, his gaze moving deliberately past my face and down my body.
Then, without another word, he turned, entered his car, and vanished into the alley's darkness.
I watched him go, warmth flooding my skin from his proximity.
Then I remembered something, my heart suddenly kicking up hard.
Zavian Nolven was Lucien's ultimate rival.
But in three years, with Lucien taking over my family's company and merging it with his, he will finally be able to beat Zavian and become the owner of the biggest corporation.
I could also remember that after Lucien became the biggest corporation, Zavian got into a horrible accident that left him in a coma.
So, that was Zavian Nolven.
The pounding in my chest got louder as I stared at the road that I knew led to his mansion.
"Should I just go to him right now?" My hands curled into fists, nails pressing into my palm. It would be dangerous, but I already died once. I shouldn't be scared to use someone like him to my advantage.
"Yes, Kaida, you have to be as ruthless as they were to get what you want, and if using Zavian is the only way, then that's what I am going to do."
ZAVIAN NOLVEN POV We all sat in silence, the tension in the air so thick I could cut through it with a knife if I had one.Mother sat rigidly beside Father, her sharp eyes fixed on me with that familiar mix of disdain and rage I'd come to expect ever since the night I reported Father to the authorities.I knew she hated my guts. Knew that she'd rather be anywhere but here. But she came anyway, and judging by what I knew about their dynamics, she was only here as backup in case Father failed. They were really the perfect match, weren't they?Father cleared his throat, the sound rough and deliberate as his sharp eyes finally dragged away from Kaida where they'd been glued since the moment he and his people had forced their way into my space. "We saw the news about your marriage," he said, his voice carrying that calculated calm he always wore like a second skin. "I must say, it came as quite a shock.""Did it?" I asked, leaning forward slowly, my elbows bracing against the heavy oak d
KAIDA REED POV The sun's rays streaking through the window made me wince. I turned onto my side, a sigh escaping my lips as I burrowed deeper into the cool sheets. "So good," I murmured into the pillow, my hand squeezing the thick fabric before going in search of Zavian. The feel of the cold sheet underneath my fingertip made my eyes snap open and when I saw that he wasn't in the room, I sat up so fast my head spun with it."Ugh, that hurts," I groaned, pressing a finger to the side of my head as my gaze darted around the room. Where was he, and why did everything look so clean?I expected to see a bit of a mess from how rough we were last night—wait, did Zavian clean everything up while I was passed out? Or did he have someone else do it? I doubted it was the latter, because he'd also cleaned me up too.My eyes moved to the space beside me again, a strange sensation burning in my chest as I stared at the empty cold space.Just how long has he been gone? And why didn't he wake me?
HELENA REED POV "You."I scoffed, rolling my eyes heavenward. What the hell was I even expecting from a fucking man? Now I was starting to wish that I had listened to Yilena and just gone home that night. I shouldn't have slept with him no matter how much I wanted to get back at Lucien and I definitely shouldn't have let him threaten me into doing it again.Fuck my life. And fuck my fucking lust."I know what's going through your head but if you'll just listen—""Do I really have to listen to you. You just said what you wanted. You want to fuck me. What more is there to say? You want to discuss the terms and conditions.""No, I want to help you get your revenge."I blinked, my heart squeezing to a stop for a second. "What?""You lost the land your company is standing on didn't you? You're also owing the bank a lot of money and it's a matter of time before they come to take everything from you."I stared at him, a hot sensation starting in the pits of my stomach."How do you—" I start
HELENA REED POVEverything was fucked up. My life. our plans, and all the money we thought we would have once Kaida was out of the picture. It was too bad that instead of celebrating her death, it was Lucien fighting for his life in the hospital. And if it was anything from my last chat with the doctor—the cops had barely allowed it—even if he survived, he wasn't going to be like he was before. And no one gave a fuck about us. The scandal already painted us as the villain, and with Lucien kidnapping my dad and then proceeding to try and rape Kaida in the conference room before he was shot by security—that was the story going around—there was really no coming back for us.I let out a heavy sigh, then let my head fall against the sofa, my eyes slipping closed. At least this way, I could escape reality for a few seconds.I couldn't.My company was gone, and soon the bank was going to come for me, like blood-hungry hounds, to take over everything. And it all circled back to one person.Ka
KAIDA REED POV I shattered with a scream, my orgasm ripping through me like lightning. My walls pulsed around him, milking his thick length as waves after waves of pleasure crashed over me. Tears pricked at the corner of my eyes, my nails breaking skin as he thrust through my climax until I was a trembling, oversensitive mess underneath him.Only then did he chase his own release. With a guttural groan, he slammed deep one final time, spilling hot and thick inside me. The feel of him pulsing, claiming me so completely, triggered an aftershock that almost had me seeing black for a second. It was so intense, I thought I would die.We stayed locked together for long moments, his weight pressing me into the bed, his cock still buried deep as he softened. Then his hand loosened on my throat, his fingers sliding up to cup my cheek instead as his eyes held mine. The tenderness in his eyes, his touch...after all that roughness had my lungs closing up with overwhelming emotions. And those e
KAIDA REED POV I gasped as Zavian's fingers tightened on my jaw, a treacherous heat blooming low in my belly at how rough he was being with me. God, why did this scare me and turn me on at the same time?"Do you understand. Nod if you do," he murmured, his voice a velvet rasp against my ear, "give me a little nod and I might just have a little bit of mercy on you," he said while actively holding me down and making sure I couldn't move even a muscle."You won't nod, right? Does that mean you want to be punished instead?" He asked, his hand sliding from my hip to the curve of my ass and squeezing hard enough that I knew his fingerprints would linger. Then, without warning, his palm cracked down in a sharp smack that echoed in the silent room."Ah!" I cried out, my body jerking in shock, but I didn't get to break his hold or even move an inch and that made me panic a little. "Zavian—""Count them," he ordered, his tone dark with promise. Another smack landed on the same spot, harder thi
ZAVIAN NOLVEN POV I watched her, a slow, deliberate smile tugging at my lips as she weighed her options."Let's talk," she said finally, then slowly pulled her chin free from my grip. Her eyes darted to the shadows along the wall, searching for something… anything, to distract herself from me.I
KAIDA REED POV "You’re here." Helena stepped out to meet me, her smile blindingly white. "You look exhausted. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you this tired before."I forced my lips to curve. "Yeah... Things were a bit hectic today." "Well, I’m glad you came." She clasped her hands in front of her,
HELENA REED POV"What the hell happened to her? You were supposed to be watching her!" Lucien yelled, his hand pressing into Yilena’s shoulders as he shook her."I was watching her!" she pushed him off, her chest heaving as she glared at him. "But I have a life too. You don’t expect me to be by her
KAIDA REED POV PRESS CONFERENCE I smiled, shaking hands with the reporter. "Thank you for today, Miss Kaida. The interview went really well. I hope you’ll be giving us more chances to speak with you in the future."I nodded. "I hope so too. I really enjoyed my time on the show."She smiled. "Goo
