Zephyron.

I looked at the teddy bear for the first time since she gave it to me.

For the first time, I wondered why I had thought of it as cheap and had been so embarrassed by it that I simply stowed it away. It was covered in red cotton fluffs that were warm to the touch, and the glossy eyes stared back at me in an expression of a permanent smile that felt so genuine.

Strangely, I smiled back and traced the threaded lips with my finger.

"Are you the reason why the Goddess is punishing me?" I a

  • REJECTED AND REBORN; THE HOCKEY ALPHA'S REGRET    ON THE EDGE

TaliaI had every reason to be worried.I paced about and bit down on my nails and even outright screamed at some point to the point of having my lungs burst, but all my antics were lost amongst the crowd of students that were flocking about the edge of the Water of Fears and asking all the questions to be asked. The resulting uproar was thunderous and deafening, and I was lost in the midst of it all while being unable to even do a thing."You can't go in after him," Coach Vance was saying to some of the security who were offering to go in after Kai and get him out, his loud voice somehow booming over all the noise despite the bandage on his head after Kai had butted him with his head. "That is a Water of Fears and anyone who goes into it will first experience an intimate confrontation with the worst of their fears before anything else. The students were speaking, too. Many of them heard him bicker with the coach over Aurelia being in some kind of distress, and they had heard the coac

Kai. Once again, Aurelia's scream echoed inside my head. It made me fall backwards and then jump back up quickly, my chest tightening as I managed to get a hold on myself once again. As soon as I got my head back in one place, though, I knew that it was not her corpse that had screamed, not this here body that lay cold and still. I somehow managed to go close to it so I could touch it again, but before I could, I heard the scream in my head again. It was Aurelia's voice. And it was still not from the dead body. I stood confused, and then whispered her name before something clicked in my head, a jolt of memory that changed everything as it was. I was in the Water of Fears. Obviously, I was going to encounter my biggest fear first, which as it turned out, was losing Aurelia. Somehow, I had managed to keep my sanity and not lose my mind to it, which meant that I had passed the test. As though it was an answer to my thoughts, too, the illusion of a dead Aurelia faded away into

Kai. Her long and drawn scream hit my ears like dynamite. I shook, now certain that something was going wrong inside the Water of Fears. Since she had gotten into it, I had expected that she would send me some sort of communication over our bond-any one at all. "There's something wrong in there, Talia," I said, even though I was somewhat uncertain. "What is that?" She asked. "Aurelia." "Why do you think so?" "I can feel it." She looked at me, her expression just as confused. "Of course she has to feel a little bit of something... negative... I mean... she's literally in the Water of Fears and experiencing whatever her worst fears are. Don't overthink it, Kai. She should be fine when it's all over." I tried to relax and pretend that it was sufficient when I heard her voice beg. "Please don't kill me. I am not an abomination." I was taken aback. There had to be no way Aurelia was afraid of something like being an abomination-that did not even make sense in the least. I had

Aurelia. "Help," I screamed, pulling against the bonds that held me. "No one is coming to save you," A voice answered, and it was the vaguest sound I had ever heard, because I could not tell who it belonged to, or if it even belonged to anything semi-human at all. "Who are you?" I asked, pleading. "You do not need to know who I am," the voice said, carrying about the darkness and echoing inside of it. "All that matters as it is, is that you get your just due, and go back to where you certainly belong." "And where do you think I belong?" "Among the dead." "I will not let myself be taken in by mere sounds meant to scare me," I cried out, dearly wanting to believe that this was only a part of the test. "I did not take the trouble to come down here just to scare you. I am here to put an end to you, and the abomination that you are. " "I am not an abomination. I am Aurelia Thorn." At first, there was no answer. Then the things curled about my hands, feet and neck began to pull

  • REJECTED AND REBORN; THE HOCKEY ALPHA'S REGRET    The Waters of Fears

Aurelia The next morning's test was one of the most stunning things I had seen, as the field, which we had all been training in, was now suddenly covered in a large expanse of water that made me step back in horror. The water was wide and the depths only faded into darkness for as far as I could see. The surface rippled with waves, and though it looked harmless, I could not imagine for the life of me how deep it was or for how far it extended, so my heart very rightfully thumped at the sight.Even Nyra pulled away from the edge of the water.Coach Vance had not appeared yet, and most of the students had gathered around the water. They were scooping it up with their hands and from the scraps of words that I could pick up from what they were saying, the water was an illusion. One of the best they had ever seen."You know how to swim, don't you?" Kai appeared suddenly at my shoulder. "I can tell that you are not particularly thrilled by this.""She never used to like swimming, as a mat

  • REJECTED AND REBORN; THE HOCKEY ALPHA'S REGRET    The Watcher in the Crowd

Zephyron I felt sweat cover every inch of my skin as I watched both of them.I sat still, too, while knowing that my current composure was nothing compared to the turmoil I felt inside of me. It made me shift from edge to edge of the chair in which I sat, and made it hard for me to swallow. Why, when Aurelia was there with Kai.I wanted to walk away and go elsewhere, but Coach Vance had spoken to me about being here for the students' morale. He told me that I was a shining example of what the students in the Wolf Competition would be aiming to be, and a source of motivation for them to see that it was achievable. That someone in their Academy had done it too.I had almost laughed at the idea.He knew, or at the very least, was supposed to know that I was no ordinary wolf. There were few that matched my power, and for many of these students dreaming of achieving something close to my feats, the dream would forever remain a dream. We both knew that.We both knew that I came from a long

Aurelia I shifted back to my human form and spat out a mouthful of loose dirt."You're kidding," I yelled, getting back to my feet."Does it sound funny?""You could have maybe mentioned that before you planted your giant paws on my ribs," I muttered, spitting some more after chewing sand.Kai mer

  • REJECTED AND REBORN; THE HOCKEY ALPHA'S REGRET    HEALING

Talia's POV The first sign that made me certain that Aurelia would live was her healing scar, and I broke down in tears and cried when I saw it happen. The Alpha had called me over to see it. The wound was closing slowly given our natural healing powers, but it was closing, with the pink flesh

Zephyron's POV I opened the door a little and found a familiar face waiting there.“Talia?" Her aura was impatient and felt corrosive, and my wolf sensed it. I almost immediately regretted opening the door because I could not believe that there was one more person waiting to eat me alive, bad as

I didn't look at the students who imm
