Talia's POV

I did not miss how unimpressed he was by my concession.

Somehow, to me, it was the clearest sign that he was not involved with the people who wanted Aurelia dead—namely, Headmistress Selene and whoever else. I imagined that he would have been happy to see me give up and reconsider after manipulating me into doing what he wanted.
