LOGINChapter 3: Encounter With The Wolf King.
Infinity Pack The night was based on tremendous wind, which blew on the roof of the castle. It was no doubt that it was about to rain, but the goddess of rain might have been holding the impending rain for a reason. But for what reason? Arden thought, as he stood at his window, looking up at the sky, that the darkness was a strange feeling that settled on his mind, something he could not grasp. It felt as if something would happen in a few hours from now. His gut instinct was never wrong, he knew that painfully well. Just then the door opened revealing Caden, Caden strode towards the Alpha king tapping him out of his thoughts. He bowed his head slightly before making his report. “Alpha, a girl was found at the border of our kingdom.” Arden smirked, Whose plan was this to use a girl as a spy. He thought to himself. “Where is she now?” He asked. “She is in one of our visiting rooms, the guards said she fainted.” Caden responded. “I will be there in a few minutes.” Arden said dismissing Caden. Rogues. He thought smirking, and walked out curious to see whom they used this time. Just as he got to the door something hit him. It was the smell of vanilla and fresh flowers, his wolf pounced in his mind restless repeating the word “mate” continuously, his wolf threatened to take over and look for his mate since Arden stood there like a log of wood. Arden looked around searching for the person with that sweet smell but found no one outside just then his gaze hit the door and on getting in he was shocked. The stranger who had entered his pack uninvited is his long awaited mate, is the moon goddess joking? He walked more inside the room and was surprised to see a beautiful lean figure sleeping soundly on the bed, her body showed that she had been abused. It was obvious she wasn't a rogue but a helpless girl running for dear life. He had the urge to touch her so badly but refrained from doing so. Caden, his close friend and beta walked in on him. He made a sign to stop him from talking and together they walked out not to wake the sleeping figure. “Arden what is going on? you don't look okay.” Caden asked, staring at the Alpha king. “Caden, she's my mate.” the Alpha said tensed, never had he been this confused. Caden had this smile on his face that made him shake his head in regret telling him it was a bad fate at this point “The moon goddess has done you well finally our Alpha has his mate, what are we waiting for? Aren’t we supposed to be planning your mating ceremony?” Caden said, smiling sheepishly. Arden wasn’t amused, not even in the slightest bit, on the contrary, he looked worried. This sapped the enthusiasm out of Caden too. “Is there something you are worried about?” Caden questioned suspiciously. Arden didn’t hesitate, it was never in his nature to hold back his thoughts. “What if she turned out to be a spy?” Caden froze, Not because he didn’t understand the Alpha but because he knew the consequence of it, If the girl was a spy, they had no choice but to kill her. *** Hazel woke up to find herself in a strange room, sprawled across a king-sized bed that felt like a cloud. The walls were a crisp white, Plush carpets muffled her footsteps as she padded across the floor, taking in the luxurious decor. Panic set in, Where was she? How did she get here? Just then, a sassy voice chimed in her mind, “Girl, relax. This is a very good place to be in. I love it here sooo classy ." Hazel raised an eyebrow. Was she going crazy? "Who are you? Where are you?" She asked aloud. The voice chuckled. “Hey, I'm Akira, your wolf. Mhm, and you're in the Alpha's den... kinda.” Hazel's eyes widened. "Akira? You're... my wolf? And you can talk to me and hear me speak ?" Akira snorted. “Of course babe. Get used to it.” “And you said something about Alpha, which Alpha?” Hazel questioned suspiciously hoping she hadn’t returned back to her pack where she escaped from. “Our mate dumbie, he came in last night. He's sooo strong and good-looking and has the best smell on earth but you were too tired to wake up.” She said disappointed. “You must be joking, our mate rejected us last night, ohhh you weren't even there.” Hazel said tsking. “And now we have another one Hazel, the moon goddess has blessed us.” “You know what, enough of your ranting let me think.” she said playfully, deep down she was happy that at least she finally had her wolf. Hazel just kept staring at the room with so much awe, the room was as big as the grand hall at her former pack, The door opened revealing a maid who interrupted Hazel's thoughts. “Good morning Luna.” She said bowing politely. “Luna? Me? This must definitely be a prank.” “I'm here to help you with your bath and also I got clothes for you later I'll bring you your breakfast.” The maid said still bowing. “Please what is your name and how did I get here?” Hazel questioned the girl as her wolf had suddenly gone quiet. “Ohhh my name is Piper and I think the Alpha brought you here himself.” The maid replied. She is still in shock so Akira hadn't lied to her. “Ofcourse, I told you now to snap out of your thoughts and don't make a fool out of yourself in front of a maid.” Akira said, finally breaking the silence in her mind. “I was once a maid too” Hazel said aloud. “Sorry, what ma?” Piper said. “No no not you she replied embarrassed, she hadn't realized she said that out.” “Can I meet the Alpha?” Hazel asked. “He is probably busy now but I'll make sure to send your message across Luna.” Piper said politely. “That will do, thank you.” She said, smiling at the polite maid. The maid smiled back and left. A few minutes later she returned with an exquisitely served breakfast of sandwich bread and other side dishes. "The Alpha King wants you to eat well and rest. He said he will come see you after you rest ." Hazel's heart skipped. “Alpha King? She is still worried about this, if the Alpha’s son of her lowly pack could reject her the Alpha king will definitely kill her for being unfortunate enough for the moon goddess to match her with him.” Even if it was going to be her last breakfast alive, Hazel was ready to risk that, the food’s aroma was mouthwatering. She sat, and the first bite of eggs was like a symphony in her mouth.” The maid slipped out quietly. Hazel barely noticed, too busy savoring the royal treatment. Maybe she could get a little of this before she is kicked out, or worse killed, she thought, as she munched on like a hungry wolf. Back at her old pack, Lucas paced outside the pack house, his worry for Hazel gnawing at him like a hungry beast . She'd run away after that bastard Ethan rejected her . Lucas had seen the pain in her eyes, the crushing weight of shame and humiliation. He'd wanted to rip Ethan's throat out for hurting her. As he paced, he sent a silent prayer to the moon goddess: Please, protect her. Keep her safe. Get her far away from this toxic pack and into a place where she'll be loved and cherished . Just then, the three guards who'd chased Hazel returned . They approached Lucas and together they returned to the Alpha’s study. As they entered, Alpha Ryder was lounging on the Alpha’s chair looking bored while his son Ethan sat on the green sofa by the entrance looking smug . "Report," Alpha Ryder barked. "Sir, we chased her, but... we met four other wolves. They were... powerful. We had to retreat." One of the guards stammered. Ethan's eyes narrowed and he interrupted rudely. "You mean you couldn't catch her? Or kill her?" The guards exchanged nervous glances. "They... they would've thought she was a rogue, sir. We didn't want to risk it." Ethan's face twisted in a cruel smile. “Good. Let her be someone else's problem. She's probably dead by now." Ethan said excitedly. His father didn’t appear convinced, “Lucas.” “Yes, Alpha.” Lucas responded politely. “You found the girl twenty years ago and brought her into this pack, now I order you to find her dead body and return it to the pack.” Lucas’s eyes widened, shock registered in his countenance but he managed to hide his disappointment. He clenched his fist behind his back and managed to pull the words out of his mouth against his will. “Yes my Alpha.”Chapter 50: KADE'S CHOPPED FINGERSThe great hall had never felt so small.Arden walked through the massive doors, and the temperature in the room dropped like someone had thrown them into a winter night. His white hair hung loose, damp with sweat and still caked faintly at the temples with Hazel's blood. He didn't wipe it off. He let his mates blood stick to him.His silver eyes moved across the elders one by one. Men who'd taught him how to lead, to bleed for his pack, who'd filled in his father's place and called themselves his uncles. One by one, they all looked away.He didn't speak. He walked past the long marble table, past the polished wood and silver inlays that meant nothing now, and sat down on the throne. It was high, a perfect golden throne that glittered, anybody given a chance to sit there wouldn't even blink before accepting the offer. But they wouldn't dare. No one could speak to him without craning their neck. Today it felt like a guillotine. The silence was worse th
Chapter 49: SOMETHING FAR MORE DANGEROUS Lyra had been busy.Busy spreading rumour around the pack saying the king had taken the prisoner out of the palace, he let her escape, he's blinded by love. The streets of his pack now filled with rumours about him.By the time Arden's car pulled through the palace gates, she had already spread the news through every corner of the kingdom. The king had sneaked the traitor out. The king was trying to hide her. The king was protecting a woman who had sold their secrets and weaknesses to the rogues. The elders were already gathered in the great hall, their voices raised in outrage. They were furious as they debated the matter on ground."This is unacceptable!" Helena shouted, slamming her fist against the table. " He cannot simply_""He can, so he did." Kade Interrupted coldly. " He's the king. He can do whatever he wants. The question is whether we let him, we have to stand our ground as the elders. We can't allow this."Bronze sat in the corner
Chapter 48: STAY WITH ME"Everything stops now."Darian's voice cut through the clearing like a sharp blade. He stepped into the opening, and Hazel's breath caught in her throat. She had heard stories about him, about the monster before her. The rogue who had killed Arden's family, though they didn't give her more details about what had happened, the monster who wore a man's face, the shadow that had been hunting them since before she even arrived at the palace. The stories didn't do him justice. He was tall, nearly as tall as Arden, with a face that might have been handsome if not for the cruelty lurking in his eyes. His hair was dark, streaked with gray, and a long scar ran from his temple to his jaw, pulling his mouth into a permanent sneer.Behind him, at least fifty rogues emerged from the trees, all of them smelled like bad news as they had an evil glint on their faces.Weapons glinted in the moonlight. Swords, axes, crossbows aimed directly at Hazel's heart."We only brought a
Chapter 47: LYRA FOUND OUT The palace felt awfully quiet. It was something out of the norms, and lyra had noticed.Lyra noticed it the moment she stepped through the main gates, the unnatural silence, the absence of servants scurrying through the corridors, the way the guards seemed to care less of their jobs as they did it in a lackadaisical manner.Something has happened. They couldn't be this free and less scared around the alpha. She kept her face neutral, her steps measured, as she made her way towards Arden's office. If she could just get him alone without those bad lucks who called themselves his beta and gamma, just a few minutes to whisper in his ear, to let her scent fill his lungs, to remind him that she was there, maybe she could convince him to speed up the execution. Maybe she could make him see the truth, make him see that Hazel was a liability to him, a total danger and a traitor who needed to be eliminated before she destroyed everything he had built, the peace, love
Chapter 46: A TRAPEthan's knees struck the earth with a force that cracked the frozen ground beneath him.He tried to move or stand but his body wouldn't bulge, he even found it hard to breathe, he felt surpressed by a force which was way more than gravity. His body was no longer his own. His wolf, the arrogant, brutal beast that had always answered his every command, was cowering in the back of his mind, whimpering like a puppy that had been kicked into the rain."What_" Ethan gasped, streaks of sweat pouring down his face. " What did you do to me? What have you done? How dare you?"Hazel looked down at him with utmost disgust in her eyes. For a moment, just a few minutes she felt a flicker of satisfaction. This was the man who rejected her in front of her entire pack, the man who called her a worthless and wolfless omega, who always seized all chances to call her useless. The man who had made her fell like less than nothing. And now he was kneeling at her feet, with a confused and
Chapter 45: A DIFFERENT PERSONHazel had never woken up faster. The moment her eyes opened, she was moving, throwing off the thick blanket off her body, ignoring the ache in her muscles, the heaviness in her bones. She jumped off the bed. Today was the day. Arden had promised they were going to rescue Piper. She was finally going to meet her best friend. She couldn't skip that chance, before something would happen or before Arden would change his mind.No more waiting. No more hiding. She threw open her closet, the small clothes the guards had left untorn, it no longer looked like the grand wardrobe of the Luna of such a great and big kingdom, one of the biggest among the four territories. She began tearing through it. She needed something tough. Something she could fight in.A pair of dark leather pants. A fitted tunic. A black canvas which fits perfectly. She dressed quickly, her fingers fumbling with the laces, her heart pounding so hard she could feel it in her throat which was al
Chapter 28: THE TRIP BACK. The next morning, they were all prepared to head back to the palace. Any minutes wasted was a time for Darian to execute his plan, so Arden had to go and watch over his people. Gaius brought out the bags they had brought to the temple, now arranging them in the car
Chapter 25: POSSESSED WOLVES They came out of the shadows like nightmares made in flesh.Four wolves, large and rampant. The fur was matted with dirt and something that looked like old dried blood. But it was the eyes that stopped Hazel's breath. Not the usual beautiful eyes of werewolves in packs
Chapter 23: THE TEMPLEThe temple at dawn was a place of impossible beauty.Stone pillars stood in a perfect circle, it was older than the infinity castle, older than the king's. Hazel stood at the edge of the pool. Bare feet on the dew kissed grass. Cold. The pool was in the center as if it refl
Chapter 21: THE TRAITOR'S CAMP The cave behind the waterfall was cold. Not a clean cold of winter. This was damp cold, the kind that smelled like rot and rust and things dead. Water hit the stones in a constant deafening roar, as the silence in the room grew louder.Darian sat at the edge of a
