Mag-log inWILLOW
I grew up in an orphanage. Poor. Never having enough. Always depending on the goodwill of the state system. Because I believed I’d been dealt the short end of the stick, I made sure to do everything the state expected of me.
I poured all my energy into school. Got straight As. Scored a scholarship for college. My life seemed to be going exactly as I wanted it to go, unraveling on my own terms.
But then, everything changed when Cary Thompson showed up one day, DNA test in hand.

“Willow,” he kisses both my cheeks, eyes brightening as he takes in my cocktail dress. “You look lovely honey.”
“Thanks,” I mumble, allowing him to lead me into the hall.
“So, how was the hockey game?” He picks two champagne flutes off a valet’s tray and hands one over to me.
“It was fine. We won.” I take a huge sip. “Exactly how long do I have to be here for, dad?”
“Oh come on honey. You only just got here and now, you’re talking about leaving? Relax.” He chuckles. “Invites to events like this do not come easy. Besides, there are a few people I would like to introduce you to.”
“I see,” I mumble, sounding unenthused. If Cary notices, he doesn’t comment on it. He leads me forward, showing me off to the people he recognizes in the crowd. He makes a few introductions.
“Cary Thompson.” A middle aged man approaches us. He’s wearing a charcoal gray suit with a bow tie. He’s got jet black hair, that’s slightly beginning to gray.
This man, he’s handsome in a rugged kind of way. There’s also something oddly familiar about him.
“Spencer,” Cary shakes hands with him, grinning from ear to ear.
Spencer?
It suddenly clicks.
He’s Theo’s dad. My ex-boyfriend had shown me a family photo over six months ago, and he’s the one who had been in the photo.
I can’t believe he’s standing in front of me right now. How well does my dad know him?
“Willow… allow me to introduce you to a good friend of mine. Spence, this is my daughter, Willow Thompson.”
“Wow Cary. She’s gorgeous.” Spencer extends his hand for a handshake and it takes everything in me to keep my composure. “How are you Willow? I’ve heard quite a bit about you from your old man. It’s nice to finally meet you in person.”
I bet he won’t be saying that if he knew how I’d just gotten in between his sons, mere hours ago.
“Nice to meet you too.” I make myself smile.
“So, you attend California state? My sons go to school there too. Theo and Aiden. You must have heard of them. They play hockey.”
Kill me now. “Yeah. Um, I’ve heard of them. They are the reasons we won regionals today.”
Spencer’s beaming with pride. Cary mentions something about getting both families together for lunch, sometime in the near future.
I hope not.
I’m already counting the minutes until I have to leave.
It isn’t until Cary is pulled away to converse with a crowd of stuffy, middle aged folks, that I get a chance to make my escape.
“You’re leaving?” Terry escorts me out of the building, seeing me off to where my Uber is waiting for me.
“Yeah. Sorry. I have something important I have to take care of on campus.” A lie. But he doesn’t have to know that. “Tell my father I’ll link up with him for lunch later in the week.”
“Alright miss Thomson. Have a good night.” He opens the Uber door for me. He doesn’t leave until the car’s safely on the road.
On the ride back to campus, I call Violet.
“Hey. Sorry I had to leave in such a hurry. I had a family thing. I’m on my way back now. Any chance we can meet up at Starbucks?”
“Sorry. I can’t. I’m at Gary’s.” Gary is her boyfriend. A nerd from engineering. Definitely one of the cutest couples on campus. “So… what was up with that stunt you pulled on the ice rink today?”
I knew this was coming. I groan.
“Ugh! I was jealous, okay? I saw that dick head making out with slutty Tessa and all I could think of was a surefire way to hurt me.”
“Oh, he was hurt alright.” Violet chuckles. “It seemed like he was about to rip Aiden to shreds before Tessa showed up to drag him away.” She laughs harder. Her laugh’s infectious and she’s got me on it.
“Everything is such a fucking mess,” I say in between laughs.
“Yeah babe. Not to mention the fact that everyone is talking about it. I mean, everyone. They are calling you a heart breaker. Talking about how you’ve got both brothers wrapped around your fingers.”
“That’s not true.” I snort. “I was just lucky Aiden didn’t push me off him.”
“Yeah. About that… any idea why he let you kiss him so publicly?”
“None.” I inhale a deep breath and let it out slowly. “I have no idea what had been going through his head while it’d been happening. One thing I do know is that I owe him an apology.”
“You’re gonna apologize for kissing the school’s most notorious manwhore?” She scoffs lightly. “Oh please. I’m sure he was honored that you laid a free one on him.”
I’m already at campus. Making the short walk to my sorority house. Campus is abuzz tonight, with studies still up, celebrating the win at regionals. Fireworks light the sky. Campus security is lenient with drunk students.
“I’ll talk to you tomorrow Vi. Say hi to Gary for me.” I’m almost at the house.
“Bye bitch.” She makes kissy sounds before she hangs up. I’m all smiles as I cross the rose bush that separates the alpha phi house from the delta house.
I round the corner and a scream tears out of my lips, at the sight of Aiden Cross sitting on the porch steps.
WillowIt’s been a full twenty hours and I haven’t heard from Aiden.I am trying so hard not to reach out, to respect his wish for space. The only thing that distracts me is the prospect of writing my final paper. Some departments have already rounded off activities for the semester. Campus is abuzz with excitement for the summer.Another thing that everyone seems to be excited about is the audio file. Since the night of the hockey after party, news spread to all corners of the school. Everyone is torn up about it. There are those who believe the file to have been doctored. And then, there’s the other half—those calling me a bitch, accusing me of hurting with not just one, but two brothers. But frankly, I don’t really care what a bunch of strangers have to say about me. All I care about is what Aiden thinks. But I won’t know unless he talks to me.More than once, I lose track of the exam booklets in front of me. It takes extra effort for me to finish the questions in record time.My f
Willow“Calm down. It’s all going to be fine.” Ginny rubs my arms but I don’t want to be consoled right now. “You didn’t see him.” I say in between my sobs. “It seemed like he was breaking up with me. He really thinks I said that shit behind his back. And now, it’s over between us.”“It’s not. Like you said, he wants space. A chance to clear his head. That’s different from a break up. Trust me.”“I should go back inside. I’ll try to talk to him again. Get him to see reason.”“No.” Ginny doesn’t let me cross the lawn. The music inside the frat house is louder now. Out here; surrounded by semi-darkness, it’s like a whole different world. “Trying to talk to him right now will only make it worse. Just try to give him some space. Trust that he loves you and will get over the way he’s feeling.”“And how long am I supposed to wait? I tried to ask him but he didn’t give me a straight answer.”The door bursts open and for a crazy second, I think it’s Aiden, returning to sweep me off my feet a
Willow“Aiden is stubborn. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg… Hockey? I don’t know why he doesn’t just quit and save the team the trouble. Everyone knows he’s causing more harm than good remaining on the team. It’s funny how I didn’t even know that he dealt with red devils. And don’t even get me started on how he constantly hides behind his step father’s wealth and influence. Which is funny because he’s always trying to act like he doesn’t do that, and I —”No.This is not me. I didn’t say any of this.“Aiden,” I hold my breath, feeling the walls close around me. Everyone is staring at us. I think I’m going to pass out. And of course, the audio is still playing. But I’m no longer listening to it. “I didn’t… that’s not me.”Aiden is turned away from me. He’s not listening to me. I look around the room. I spot Peterson and yell loud enough for him to hear me. Loud enough for everyone to here. “Who put that on?” “I don’t know,” he shrugs, raising his hands defensively. “I’m serious
Willow“Are you two still not talking?” Ginny wants to know. “Nope.” I mutter, forcing another gulp of whisky down my throat. “Come on Willow. You have to fix this. Our guys won tonight. You think the star of the game deserves the cold shoulder from his girlfriend?”She’s right. Our hockey team won tonight. With Aiden back on the team, the game really did hit differently. He was like a beast out there, dodging offensive attacks, sliding and passing the puck with ease. His movements were equal parts ferocious, equal parts graceful. It’s almost funny how I couldn’t bring my eyes to look away from him. I’m still mad at him but seeing him out on the ice had done something to me. As much as I hate to admit it, I want him. But I can’t have him. Not right now. Not until one of us caves. “This is ridiculous,” Ginny sighs. “Look, if you are not going to talk to him, how about I do that instead?”“You’ll do no such thing.”“So what then? I mean, look at him.” She turns to where Aiden is s
RowanI leaked the video. But no one knows that I’d been at the wrestling den. Even if they do, they would never dream of suspecting dear, old Rowan. The blame must have fallen to Theo. And now, the video has been taken down. I just hope it’s done the necessary damage. ***It must have because Aiden and Willow are not talking to each other. I’m in the hockey building. The game is about to start. I see how easy it would be for him to slide over to her, to kiss her. But he doesn’t. He’s got his back to her. And she’s fuming. Glaring daggers at the back of his head. This is even better than I expected.“Rowan!” Violet races up the bleachers, pigtails bouncing off her back in her haste to get to me. Ever since she got discharged from the hospital, she has practically been glued to my side. And honestly, I don’t seem to mind it much. I’ve been feeding off her. Not as much as before though. On top of that, I’ve been keeping an eye on her. Still need her to give Willow the neckla
AidenI can’t fucking sleep. All night, I stay awake, thinking about Willow. But I can’t bring myself to call her. I feel way too proud to be the one to break first. In my mind, she’s wrong for blowing this all out of proportion. All I did was fight. That’s something I’m good at. Plus, I made some good money while at it. Why is that so wrong? Why can’t she be happy for me?I mean, I get it. I didn’t tell her. Because I already knew that she would fight me for it. And then, there’s Theo. Every time I think of the little shit, I dream about ramming my fist into his cocky face. He must be pretty pleased with the outcome of his actions. Driving a wedge between me and my girlfriend so blatantly. I show up at the manor first thing in the morning. The sooner I can get over my meeting with my mother, the better. I finally caved and texted Willow on my way to the manor. She’s yet to reply. I know for a fact that she’s not asleep. She just posted on her story. A coffee selfie. Her pret
WillowIs Theo serious? He’s dating other people now? Does this mean he doesn’t know what what happened with Tessa recently?“Where are you going?” Aiden grabs my arm— an impulsive reaction to my sudden rise from the table. “I’ll be right back. I just want to have a quick word with your brother.”
