The library was almost silent, the few remaining students were huddled at the far end of the floor, their backs turned. They were completely hidden in their shadow-drenched corner.

Jonathan turned his gaze back to Lucy. His hand was still resting on her arm, his thumb tracing small circles against her skin. He didn't just lean in. He stopped, his face inches from hers, his eyes searching hers with a raw, quiet sincerity.

"Can I kiss you?" he asked. His voice was so low.

Lucy didn't reply with

The limousine drove quietly into the driveway just as the evening sun set. Soft garden lights lined the path to the front door, casting a warm glow over the house. Jonathan stepped out first and walked around to Lucy's side before the driver could even reach the door. He opened it with a smile and held out his hand. Lucy placed her hand in his and stepped out carefully, gathering the skirt of her wedding dress with her other hand. Her veil rested over one arm, and the diamond on her finger caught the light every time she moved. She looked up at the house and smiled. "We're home." Jonathan smiled back. "We are." Before she could take another step, he bent down without warning and slipped one arm beneath her knees while the other wrapped around her back. Lucy let out a surprised laugh as he lifted her effortlessly into his arms. "Jonathan!" She instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck. "What are you doing?" "I'm carrying my wife over the threshold." Lucy laughed

  • Rejected by One, Wanted by Another    Dream Wedding

The morning sun poured through the open windows of the bridal suite, carrying the soft scent of lavender and jasmine into the room. Everything felt peaceful. Birds sang somewhere outside, and a gentle breeze stirred the white curtains.Lucy stood before the full-length mirror, smoothing the front of her wedding dress with slightly trembling hands. It was simple but beautiful. The soft ivory lace hugged her waist before flowing into a light A-line skirt that brushed the floor. There were no heavy jewels or dramatic details. It was elegant, comfortable, and exactly the kind of dress she had dreamed of wearing. For a long moment, she simply looked at her reflection. There were no shadows beneath her eyes, no forced smile, no fear hidden behind expensive makeup.Just peace.Margaret stood behind her with a gentle smile, carefully placing the delicate veil over her dark hair. She adjusted it one last time before resting both hands on her daughter's shoulders."There," she said softly. "Per

"Yes," Lucy whispered, her voice trembling with emotion. "Yes, Jonathan... a million times yes."For a second, Jonathan simply stared at her, as if he needed to hear the words again to believe they were real. Then he let out a breath he seemed to have been holding for eternity.A slow smile spread across his face."You have no idea how long I've wanted to hear you say that."He carefully took the ring from the velvet box. His fingers were steady now as he slipped it onto her left hand. The diamond caught the moonlight, scattering tiny flashes of light across the deck.It fit perfectly.Lucy looked down at it before lifting her eyes back to him. The tears she had been holding back finally escaped.Jonathan gently brushed one away with his thumb."Don't cry," he whispered with a smile."I can't help it."Before he could say another word, she wrapped both arms around his neck. Jonathan caught her instantly, pulling her against him. She buried her face in his shoulder, laughing through ha

  • Rejected by One, Wanted by Another    The Big Question

The black SUV came to a smooth stop at the entrance of a quiet private marina, far away from the noise of the city. Jonathan stepped out first before walking around to Lucy's side. He opened the door and held out his hand with a gentle smile."Ready?" he asked.Lucy smiled as she placed her hand in his. "Yes sir."Hand in hand, they walked down the long wooden pier.Elegant yachts were docked on either side, each one more impressive than the last. Lucy had always known Jonathan was wealthy. After all, he owned one of the biggest companies in the country. But as they continued walking, she realized she hadn't even begun to imagine the kind of life he lived. At the very end of the pier rested a stunning white yacht unlike anything she had ever seen… polished wooden decks, wide glass windows, and soft lights already glowing along the railings. A small crew waited quietly beside the boarding bridge. The captain greeted Jonathan with a respectful nod. "Good evening, Mr. Blake."Jonathan re

Two weeks later, the Quinn house felt brighter than it had in years. The windows of Lucy's bedroom were open, letting in the warm summer breeze. Sunlight spilled across the wooden floor as she stood in front of the full-length mirror, smoothing the soft fabric of the sapphire-blue dress that hung gracefully around her.Earlier that morning, a courier had arrived carrying a black garment bag with her name neatly written on the tag.She hadn't needed to guess who had sent it.Jonathan.The dress had come with a small cream-colored envelope tucked carefully inside. She picked it up from her vanity again, even though she had already read it at least ten times.A smile found its way onto her face as she unfolded the card.'Hi, my muse,Wear this tonight.I'll come and pick you up at five.I've been looking forward to spending this evening with you.'—Jonathan.She folded the note carefully and placed it back inside the envelope. She turned back to the mirror and smiled at her reflection.

  • Rejected by One, Wanted by Another    One Month Later

A month had passed since the trial. The Quinn house felt different now.The windows were open, letting in the warm afternoon breeze. Sunlight streamed through the living room and spilled into the dining area, making the small house feel brighter than it had in years. The smell of roasted chicken, fresh bread, and herbs drifted from the kitchen, mixing with the sound of laughter that had slowly become common again.Margaret moved around the dining room, placing bowls of vegetables and mashed potatoes on the wooden table. She paused often to straighten a plate or smooth the tablecloth, smiling to herself as she worked. It had been a long time since she had cooked for her whole family.Thomas sat at the head of the table, looking healthier every day. The pale, exhausted man who had spent months lying motionless in a hospital bed was gone. His face had regained its color, and although he was still rebuilding his strength, he no longer looked like someone fighting to survive. His doctor h
