Jessica POV We had been scrolling pictures for what felt like hours. None had jogged Julia’s memory. Josh had been with us at first, and then he went to be with Donna. Before Josh left, he commanded Julia that she could only tell the truth, if she found the picture. I could see the anger on her face, as he left, but had no sympathy for her. “You do not understand,” she commented, as she was forced to continue looking at pictures. “Then help us understand,” I suggested as she paused her search. “I have been brought up to understand my role,” she started. “My role was to be the catalyst in taking over the Wolf Council and as such, the Wolf Kingdom,” she stated. I looked at her, waiting. Nothing she had told me caused me to pause or feel sorry for her. “There was never any love. From a young age I was forced to train. I trained for hours daily; being developed into the weapon that would help take over,” she share
Jessica POV I could not believe I was expected to go on a run with Josh and Julia. I knew Cole was pissed off that I had agreed to do it. However, he also recognized I needed to know what was going on. What was Julia really hiding. Cole was not far and he had a couple warriors with him. He would not intrude; however, if I needed him, he would be there. Marly came to sit with Donna. We did not want her left alone at any point. Donna was tired and needed some rest, so it was good timing. Donna smiled as we walked away, content knowing her family was together. I only hoped that dream was not shattered by whatever Julia was hiding. We moved through the forest, walking further into the shadows. I loved the smell of the open territory. The forest brought a calming sense to me, and I took a quiet moment to absorb that sensation. Josh stopped in the middle of a clearing. “This looks like the per
Jessica POV I looked to Josh, shocked at his reaction. “We will find her,” I assured him. He looked at me with a glare, “I just found my daughters. I will not lose either of you,” he validated. I recognized his rage as fear; however, I had concerns of my own. Julia is so tentative and shy. Where would she have felt comfortable going, I wondered. She had only spent time here and at the pack house. We had never had time to show her around. This was a bit alarming, and I could suddenly feel the same worry rise in my own body. I looked to Cole, “We should go look for her,” I suggested. Cole looked at me, “If you want,” he replied moving towards the door. “We will bring her here when we find her,” I said to Josh and Donna. Josh nodded, “I should go with you,” he commented. “You stay with Donna. We do not need anyone else to go missing,” I stated. Josh nodded, as we left the room. We walked
Jessica POV I jumped up out of bed, looking at the time. “Cole! We slept in!” I squealed as Cole jumped up, startled from my scream. “Jessica … baby, I am sure we have not missed anything. The doctor said it would take hours for Donna to wake up,” Cole reminded me. “I know, but we should not have left Josh alone so long,” I mumbled as I scrambled to get dressed. Cole came to me and wrapped his arms around me, causing me to pause. “We will get ready, get something to eat and then go over. I will ask someone to take food over to Josh so he has been looked after,” Cole suggested. I sighed against his warm body. He was right. We needed a good meal, and then we could start the day ready and prepared. We went down to catch breakfast, where we met up with Carson, Marly and Everly. “How is this sweet girl doing today?” I asked, not realizing how much I had missed normalcy. “She is doing wonderful
Jessica POV I spent the next hour countering every effort Talia made in removing the spell. As she made headway, I stepped in to try and counter the pain Donna was experiencing. Donna had gone from screaming to whimpering from the pain. I could feel the concern coming from Josh for his mate. I had no idea why we were so connected, aside from us being royal and being family. I would have expected we would have had to have a more official connection. I knew Julia was present and could feel her emotions. I thought it was fascinating that all these years we did not know of one another and yet now that we did, I could feel her presence. Cole had kept me advised of what was happening with Donna. She continued to fight the men holding her down. Cole was growing increasingly concerned as the healing took longer than we had expected. It was taking longer than I had ever spent healing anyone else. I
Jessica POV I heard Donna gasp in pain, and I moved towards her. “She said she may not be able to not; not that she could not,” I reminded her. Tears were in her eyes, “How can I survive if I cannot remember anything beyond the pain?” Donna questioned. “Let’s cross that bridge when we come to it,” I murmured as I looked to Julia. “Stay with Donna,” I suggested, as Cole and I left the room. I walked into the hall to find Josh by himself. “Where did she go?” I asked. “She went to do some research, she promised to be back within the hour,” he shared. “That is no good. Donna is spiralling, believing she will never remember,” I shared. Josh looked conflicted. “There is nothing more that we can do but wait,” he advised. I looked at him, before looking to Cole. “Has your pack ever worked with witches?” I inquired. Cole looked at me sadly, “I am sorry baby but no we have not had a need to work with witches,” he admi
Cole POV It bothered me that Jessica thought she had to thank us for coming for her. It worried me that she did not understand how valuable she was too me. I realized I had my work cut out for me. Showing her how much she means to me, while also dealing with the seemingly en
Cole POV I heard Jessica scream, and I knew we were still too far away to stop whatever was happening. Gunner put on top speed, with Carson keeping pace. “Do not do anything crazy,” Carson cautioned. “The only thing I will be doing is saving my mate from whatever hell she i
Jessica POV I was going through the scan. Because of the nature of the bug inside of me, it was taking longer than I had expected. Cole was waiting for me right outside the door, never leaving my side. I felt warm inside. Not from the bug, but rather from the commitment we
Cole POV I looked to Jessica in awe, as she looked completely shaken up. Carson had already moved towards Marly and Everly, checking them both over. “The wolf never got near us,” Marly stated, smiling at Jessica. Jessica stood shaking in my arms. Likely adrenalin racing th
