I was laughing as my friends sang at the top of their lungs. We were all excited, dazed by the alcohol and not caring that we were breaking the law.

“Let’s see how fast this bus can go!” Matheson yelled and I pressed my foot down on the gas.

We were speeding down the road, all of us shouting fearlessly as I rounded the corner too fast. I felt the side of the bus lift up as I hit the curb and we started rolling. The screech of metal was horrific and I was thrown backwards into a seat and then against a window and the roof. I heard screams of pain and I smelled blood as the bus skidded to a stop against the perimeter wall of the school.

My eyes closed involuntarily as I wondered if everybody was okay. I felt someone touch me and I heard faint voices as I tried to open my eyes but the flashing lights hurt them and the voices became clearer as I groaned and tried to turn on my side.

“Get a stretcher in here!” I heard a voice call.

“We’ve got you,” another voice said as a man lifted me and put a neck brace around my neck.

I was taken out of the bus and loaded into an ambulance but I felt groggy and everything hurt. My head was throbbing and my muscles screamed in agony. Why wasn’t I healing?

‘I can’t heal you, human,’ Blaise said in my head. My eyes closed again as the bright lights of the hospital forced my eyes shut.

My injuries weren’t as extensive and I was left with a dislocated shoulder, a sprained wrist and a multitude of cuts and bruises from the broken windows. I was stitched up, my shoulder popped back in and my wrist bandaged as I saw the police officers outside in the hallway.

“What’s your name, son?” One officer asked me as we sat down at a table. They had taken me to the hospital cafeteria since it was the quietest place at that time of the morning and I felt alone and afraid.

“Jericho St. Claire,” I said to him as he took out a pocketbook and made notes.

“How old are you?”

“Seventeen,” I said.

“Can you give this other officer your parents' details so we can phone them?” He asked me.

I wrote down our address and Kai’s telephone number for the officer. He stood up and left the cafeteria presumably to contact Kai and inform him what happened. The other officer was quiet until his partner came back and joined us.

“Can you tell us what happened?” The officer asked me.

“I don’t remember,” I said because I knew that lying was my only option here.

“Who was driving the bus?” He asked me.

“I don’t remember, we were drinking a lot,” I said.

“Where did you get the liquor from?” He asked me.

“Everything feels very vague, like my mind’s fogged up,” I said to him.

“Your records show that you bumped your head pretty hard and you have a few cuts on it as well but you need to know that it’s important for you to try and remember what happened,” he said to me.

“I’m sorry, but I don’t remember the accident at all. I remember we were drinking and then I woke up in the hospital,” I said to him.

“Were you all friends? Whose idea was it to steal the bus?” He asked me.

“Yeah, we’re all friends and I guess we all decided to do it,” I said honestly.

“We’ll be in contact with you again as we investigate this further since you’re the only survivor of the crash,” the man said to me and I looked up at him. His eyes weren’t unkind.

“What?” I asked him in disbelief. It couldn’t be true.

“I’m sorry, son, all your friends died in that crash,” he said and placed a hand on my shoulder as tears made their escape and ran down my face.

“No, it can’t be true,” I said and my shoulders sagged at the realization that I had just killed sixteen people.

“You’re very lucky to be alive,” he said and stood up.

“Jericho!” I heard my father’s voice and looked up as he walked towards me with Falcon right beside him.

“Dad,” I said as he grabbed me into a hug and I couldn’t contain all the emotions anymore as I held onto him and just cried.

Falcon had followed the police officers towards the exit and exchanged information with them. They talked for a while and he walked back towards us as the police officers left. The look on his face spoke volumes and I could see that he wasn’t pleased.

“Are you okay?” Kai asked me once he finally let go of me.

“I’m okay,” I said as he looked me over.

“The police officer said that they stole the school bus and went on a joyride, drinking and crashed the bus into the school wall. From the turn off, the bus rolled about five times before stopping,” Falcon said to Kai.

“What happened?” Kai turned to me as I looked down.

“Officer McMurphy said they would probably rule it as an accident because they can’t determine who the driver was, they’re not getting any usable prints from the steering wheel. Kai…Jericho’s the only survivor, sixteen boys are dead,” Falcon added, not looking at me.

“The truth, Jericho,” Kai said, using his Alpha voice on me and I saw his eyes flicker as they started to change color.

“We stole the bus and went drinking,” I said in a low voice.

“Who was driving the bus?” He asked me.

“I was,” I said and looked down again as his hands left my shoulders.

“I can’t even look at you now,” Kai said to me angrily and disappeared as he ported, leaving me alone with Falcon in the cafeteria.

“Come on, I’ll take you home,” Falcon said but even his eyes told me what he was thinking. I was a murderer.

The ghouls were everywhere. They attacked with precision, in formation, but it didn’t feel right. Someone was controlling them and whoever that was, seemed to have an endless supply of the things.Five of them surrounded me and jumped on me at the same time. They started biting my exposed skin. I felt the poison as their teeth sunk into me but the poison evaporated quickly and I closed my eyes as the flames pulled back into me.Their bites burned and it felt like a hundred needles penetrating my skin at the same time. Their skin was cold to the touch and their strength wasn’t something I had expected. Each one of them had the physical strength of an Alpha wolf.“Brenna!” I said forcefully as the flames erupted out of me and blasted the five ghouls away. They didn’t even scream as they burned. We were all engaged in fighting and I could only hope that everyone was holding their own.‘Their bites are poisonous,’ I told everyone in their heads. The battle lasted for more than three hours

A group of Zetas approached us and bowed their heads. They parted and Edmund smiled as he walked right up to me. “Your Majesty, welcome to Scotland.”“Morning, Edmund,” I said with a smile.“Your father is awaiting your arrival in the banquet hall,” he said as footmen stepped forward and took our luggage inside.I led the pack to the banqueting hall and Storm looked around as Edmund walked next to me. Falcon met us at the door and we hugged as he looked at the pack and then he noticed Storm and I could see in his eyes that he realized she was human and he glanced down at our hands. He didn’t say anything though and neither did I. I didn’t have to explain myself to anyone, Kai included. The look in my eyes told him not to say a word about Storm. Blaise had already told me that he wouldn’t stand for anyone saying anything bad about her.“His Royal Majesty, the Alpha King, Jericho Kiran St. Claire and the Royal Pack of Cloverdale,” Edmund announced as we stepped into the room and I heard

I led Storm to my bedroom later that night because I needed to be alone with her. I already knew how I felt and it only intensified once I accepted that bond and stopped fighting the imprinting. She gave me a look as I closed the door behind her.“Just because you’re the Alpha and I left the restaurant with you doesn’t mean I’m going to jump into bed with you,” she said to me.“You don’t have to jump, you can just get into bed normally,” I said. She chuckled and crossed her arms over her chest. “Does that line get you sex every time?”“I’m not expecting that. I just want to talk,” I said to her and sat down on the bed.“Talk about what?” she asked me.“Everything, I guess,” I said and leaned back against the headboard. She sat down in front of me and crossed her legs.“So tell me what’s going on. Why did you come to the restaurant tonight?” she asked me.“What do you feel when we’re alone like this? What did you feel when I touched your hand, when I kissed you earlier?” I asked her. S

“Can I talk to you guys?” I asked as Kiara and Leon started to get up from their seats.“What’s up?” Rafael asked as we settled in the living room.“Are you all insane?” I asked them. I was really considering it because they treated Storm like she was above them.“Why?” Slade asked me.“She’s human and you guys are acting like she’s this gift from the gods,” I said.“Okay, so we all talked and voted and we like her and we don’t care that she’s human,” Tiffany said.“Voted on what? There is no vote,” I said.“We can see you like her and she likes you,” Rafael said.“She’s human and I’m not going through this again. I don’t care how much I like her,” I said.“So you do like her!” Kiara piped in.“That’s not the point. After Anna…” I began to say.“She won’t be human for long,” Rafael said.“What are you talking about?” I asked him, more confused than ever now.“You can turn her,” he said to me.“You can’t turn humans,” I said, frowning.“We can’t, but you can,” Rafael said.‘It’s true,’

I sat on my bed with my mouth open and I blinked a few times. Blaise was laughing at me in my head. Nobody had ever spoken to me like that before and I couldn't believe that Slade had called her of all people. What intrigued me more was that she had come, she’d told me straight out that I was a selfish bastard and I huffed out a laugh.“What the fuck,” I said looking at the door.‘She’s right, human, it’s time to let go. Let’s keep her, she’s got spunk,’ Blaise said in my head.‘She’s human,’ I said to him.‘So?’ he muttered.‘I’m not going down that road again. Anna died, Shawna died,’ I said to him.‘Shawna didn’t die because of you and Anna was never supposed to be with you,’ Blaise said.‘It’s hard, okay,’ I said to him.‘Go shower, human, even I can smell you,’ Blaise said and made a gagging noise.I got up and walked to the bathroom and turned the shower on. I looked at myself in the mirror and I hardly recognized the person staring back at me. I had lost weight and I did look l

I ran through the woods to the other side of Kai’s territory and through the realms back to Cloverdale. I shifted to my human form in the woods and pulled a pair of shorts on. I couldn’t talk to Kai right now. I felt betrayed by him and Adelie. I walked into the house and grabbed my phone from the coffee table and ignored everyone in the living room. I switched my phone off as I headed up the stairs. Once I reached my bedroom, I slammed the door shut. The tears flowed freely as Kiah’s scent hit me. I hadn’t even had time to say goodbye to her or to pack her favorite toys and the little knitted blanket she couldn’t sleep without. The pain was so intense that Blaise retreated to the back of my mind as I screamed.I pulled a T-shirt over my head and took a deep breath. I walked back downstairs to my office and got the bottle of Scotch from my desk drawer. I opened it and drank straight from the bottle. I wanted to sob out my pain and rip my heart from my chest. My office door opened and

Everybody in the clearing had witnessed my Alpha mark forming on my back. The silence was almost deafening. The mark meant something, like the gods were sending me a message. “Fara útar um vægher kastali,” I whispered as the flames enveloped us and we appeared in the clearing behind the castle where a few weeks ago I was branded and banished.“Prince Jericho,” I was greeted as the majority of the Zetas turned from their position to where we appeared.I was taken aback b

The next four weeks passed swiftly and I kept making excuses to leave the house and spend time with Anna. At school she ignored me and we met up four times a week. I slowed down as we neared the turn off and I took the road that ran parallel to the river. I steered the bike off the road and headed towards the river. I parked the bike next to the grove of trees and Anna climbed off when I switched the bike off.I climbed off the bike and helped her with the he
