LOGINKehlani
It's been two weeks since that bastard left me. Yet, my heart still aches like it was just yesterday. I cried all through fourteen days. Beyond bruised and almost depressed. Now t
As I trudged down the school's hallway like a depressed capybara, flashback triggers. My jaw fell, seeing Elliot kissing Maddie openly. I swallowed bitterly and I felt completely angry. It was as though a sword pierced through my flesh, digging into my bones.
“Hey, Kehlani.”
I blinked and Olive jogged towards me, slanting her arms over my shoulders. “What's up?”
I didn't say anything. Her eyes read the direction of mine and when she observed it, she hissed.
“Oh, no. Girl.” She pushed me so we walked further. “Avert your eyes. Don't look at him. He's a loser and he lost a beautiful girl like you.”
I chuckled nervously. “I know.” A soft sigh escaped my lips.
“So, how are you?”
I forced a smile. “Totally fine. Absolutely fine. I was ditched in front of everyone and secondly, I still haven't submitted my application for the scholarship program.”
“Oh, tell me you're being sarcastic.” She rolled her eyes. “Hold on, hope you know the deadline for that is today.”
She pointed to the notice board and I gasped, clutching my chest. “Oh gracious god! When?”
“I thought you said–”
“Fuck.” I cursed and opened my locker to get my document. “I need to rush to the boardroom immediately.” I panicked and my heart raced as I breathed rapidly. How could I forget about this? “See you later, olive.”
“Okay!” She yelled back.
Two weeks ago, I'd already written and set the application documents for the 4th LensArt photography scholarship program. It was a full ride scholarship to a top art program, cash and gift prize and a feature in a prominent art magazine sponsored by the casper family for students of Samara Hills High. I promised myself I'd try to win this year but since the humiliation. I lost myself and forgot about it. Even when the document had been in my school locker. Photography is my passion that's why I was in the school's shutter club. Plus, I got the chance to stay on the rink to snap Elliot adding up to the school's magazine.
“Oh my…” I breathe in capital letters as I ascend the stairs of the admin building. Passed the rows of faculty offices, walked to the boardroom and knocked. Yup, the assigned place to submit it.
“Come in.”
I heard a faint voice and I pushed the door open, catching my breath. At the extreme end of the board table, sat a guy there. No staff.
I squinted my eyes till I realized it was Trevor Casper.
“How may I help you?” He raised a brow, taking his headphones off.
“Uhh…” I walked closer. Why's he even here? Oh I forgot. Trevor is the school's god of hockey….or should I say Elliot's number one competitor, rival team too. His bloody rich parents are the sponsors behind the scholarship that's why he was almost untouchable.
“Speak up?” He tilted his head, waiting for my response.
“Of course.” My hands are clammy and I'm nervous now. I tripped when I met his eyes again.
“Sorry.” I don't know why I'm apologizing. The document falls from my shaky hands. Get your shit together Kehlani. I scolded myself.
“Actually, I'm here to submit my application form for the LensArt pro–”
“Closed.”
He shuts me off, gripping a cigarette between his fingers and puffs.
“What?” I froze.
Smoke curls from his lips and I'm forced to feel annoyed. He smirks. “You're late, Kehlani.”
He knows my name? Of course. He's literally your classmate.
“What do you mean?” My heart cuts for a second and I'm blinking in disbelief, hysterically.
His sleepy eyes casted a spell for me to drown in them. I don't know why, but Trevor was effortlessly charming. The gum he chewed slowly accentuated his sharp jawline.
“What I'm saying is, I can't take that because the deadline was this morning.”
My lips trembled. “That's not a problem. The deadline's today which means I still have a chance to give you.”
“I'm sorry sweetheart. The deadline was an hour ago.”
I scoffed. “I'm not your sweetheart.”
“Okay, Bitter heart.” He shrugged, acting so non chalant. How dare he?
“Well, aren't there any teachers I can lay this complaint to?” I crossed my arm, tapping my foot.
He laughed. “I'm in charge here. Rules are rules. Teachers ain't got nothing on me.”
Tears had gathered around my eyes. “But this isn't fair. Why can't you just take this. After all, you're a student like me. Can't you be considerate?” I pleaded. Is it natural for hockey players to always be harsh?
The proud asshole wasn't even listening. He sprawled his hands over the chairs, watching me like I entertained him.
“Sorry.” He says flatly.
I felt a lump in my throat. It burned but I swallowed and rubbed my hands. Trevor is so full of himself, the way he talks, the smoke he revealed says it all. No wonder his reputation in school is negative despite his parents' relationship with the school. He's the goalie with a criminal record. Everyone knows. I slumped my shoulders in resignation and walked away. This time, tears had blurred my vision and I almost fell, cascading the stairs. I ran to the restroom in the class building and screamed.
“I hate this stupid world!” My fingers dug into the scalp of my hair and I sobbed.
I'm always unlucky. Now my chance of getting those special benefits and spotlight is gone again. The bathroom door swung open and I wiped my tears immediately, preparing to leave but my stomach clenched when Maddie strolled in. Her make-up was intact plus she was clutching a hockey stick and pad.
“If it isn't the…disgraced photographer.” She smiles sweetly but I didn't let her words get to me.
“What do you want?”
“Why? Is it bad to talk to you?” She covers her mouth, suppressing a laugh and then begins to wash her hands.
“You know what, Kehlani?” She turned off the faucet. “I deserve Elliot big time.” Her hands are swinging in an attempt to dry her wet hands but purposely rain water on my face..
“Oops. Sorry.” She smirked, thrusting her chest. “You should have seen Elliot on Ice today. “ She holds the stick like she wants to strike. “He was amazing. Totally crushing it.”
“Enough Maddie.” My teeth grit as I stare at her in sheer irritability. “You're just Elliot's leech.”
“Oh, shut up. At least I'm not crying and depressed over a guy.
I sighed and walked away immediately, but she trailed behind me. I walked fast. She increased her pace.
“What is it you want from me?” I stopped abruptly and she did.
“Talented fool.” She whispers and I feel a surge of anger run through my veins.. I gripped her neck tight and slammed her into the locker.
“Hey!”
I turned to see Elliot, scurrying with rage.
“What the fuck?!” His eyes were full of rage and his veins popped out. Wow, he must really care for his new girlfriend.
“Oww.” Maddie's fake wails burst through the hallway and suddenly, Elliot pushed me violently to the floor, I stood up and he raised his hand to ... .hit me?
But his hands got caught in the air.
“Don't–you–dare–hit–her.”
I shuddered while I realized who saved me. Trevor. He's standing face to face with Elliot, gripping his hands with pressure, jaws clenched and brows furrowed.
“Stay out of this, Trevor.” He warned.
Trevor's eyes didn't leave Elliot.
“Back….off…”
Trevor the criminal outlaw goalie and Elliot, Ace player.
Two rivals locked horns.
Kehlani The hallway had been silent only seconds ago. Now, I'm seeing strangers in my apartment. I was so scared, an uneasy feeling settled over my skin, crawling down my spine. Then two figures stepped out from the emergency stairwell. Black hoodies, masks and gloves. My blood turned cold. One of them glanced toward the elevators before fixing his eyes on us."There they are."Before my brain could even process what was happening, the second man strode toward us."Phones," he barked. "Wallets. Watches. Everything."My fingers loosened around my bag and fell onto the polished floor. Trevor instinctively stepped in front of me."Easy," he said, his voice calm. "Nobody needs to get hurt."The taller robber laughed. "You her boyfriend?"Trevor didn't answer. The robber yelled. "I asked you a question!”"I am."The robber smirked. "Thought so."He looked Trevor up and down before nudging his partner. "He'll have money."My heart hammered violently. This wasn't real. This couldn't be real
Kehlani “Are you…are you serious right now?” Jade was completely stunned. “I don't understand.”“Come on. Don't you remember what we talked about?” Trevor raised his brow. “When you said I could get someone to keep me company just for a while.”She scoffed. “Well, I wasn't serious about it. You didn't even tell me last session. I thought I could help you. I'm your therapist. Whatever you're saying, I'm here for you.” Her voice was laden with care as she placed a hand on his shoulder. “Um, I'm just going to go back in.” I said and left for the kitchen immediately. I don't think I should interfere. I stayed in the kitchen all through till I was done preparing the chicken broth. While it was ready, I served it in a bowl with a spoon and walked back to the dining room, carefully placing the bowl on the table. The steam curled in the air. “Thank you.” Trevor smiled warmly into my eyes. “You're welcome.” I returned the smile. Jade looked down on the bowl as if she was inspecting it. “
Kehlani “What would you like to eat?” I asked him, tapping my fingers on the table. He shrugged lazily. “I don't know.”I thought for a while. “Well, would you like chicken noodle soup?”He scrunched his face and shrugged.“Vegetable soup?”The same expression. I rested my hands on my hips and stared up the ceiling. “Okay. I could make rice porridge.” I laughed. His gaze lingered on me through half lidded eyes and hummed. “Well, maybe. I don't know.” He replied, unsure. I sighed. “You seem to be a patient that would stress alot.”“Don't blame me. Blame it on my taste bud.” he swallowed and his face scrunched up, the sore throat would have been so painful. Oh, damn. I feel so sorry for him. I was about to say something before his therapist, jade interrupted me. “I wouldn't make rice porridge if I were you.” We both turned. She was coming downstairs and now she was in a pair of leggings and an oversized sweater. So, that was what she wore when she came in. She stopped by the table
KehlaniShe clutched her chest. “Oh my gosh.”I swallowed and held the medicine bag tight so it wouldn't let go of it. I don't understand what's going on and why there's a woman in here. Why is she halfnaked? Who's she? My fingers tingled and my brain is still trying to process what I'm seeing. “Who are you?!” We both blurted together, then the hallway fell silent. She's a blonde lady. I looked at her face, then her pointed nose and down to her body. Skin like milk. So, Trevor has a nice taste for ladies? And he lied to me he's not seeing anyone. By the way, did he do this on purpose? He knew I was coming and now I'm meeting a lady in a bra and panties. What the hell is going on?I cleared my throat. “Um, hi. I'm just here to see Trevor.”She dropped her hands from her chest revealing her full breasts. “So, who are you?”“I'm his….” I paused. Should I say fake girlfriend or just girlfriend? “I'm a friend.”She flipped her hair. “Well, Trevor isn't himself right now. He doesn't need
Kehlani I stepped into campus when the afternoon was bright and windy. Something caught my attention from the massive digital screen that showcased him. I blinked just to ensure I wasn't seeing things and it was true. Trevor was on the screen. So, he's gotten this popular? How come I've never heard about him? The words flashed across the screen : Manhattan blizzards best player. A small crowd had gathered beneath it, watching. Some girls were talking about how handsome he was. I smiled while watching before walking away. Adjusted my hand bag and found my way to the Art Section. Later, I found myself in the usual lecture hall. The room buzzed and I'm surprised to see Andy in school. He came. He sat beside me and I smiled. “Hey, Kehlani. How are you?” He took the seat next to me. “Hi, Andy. I'm cool. What's up? You came to school today.” I tugged my hair behind my ear. “Yeah. Just decided not to skip today.”“Mhm. Wonderful.” I nodded. “Hope everything is going well for you? And
Kehlani A grin plastered on his lips. “Hey.” He said to me, “Hi.” It quickly came out of my mouth. “Hey, Casper.” The guys walked towards Trevor and they shook hands. I saw his name on the back of the shirt. Brooks, 8. He must be the Noah Trevor talked about. They both said something before he trailed off. Trevor then stared at me, keenly. “What?” I smiled. Suddenly, the quiet locker room began filling with voices and laughter. Bags but the floor and guys cheered. Someone shouted. “Yo, Casper!”Another player looked at me. “Oh, who do we have here?”It came to my senses that I was the only woman in their midst while some guys started to pull their hoodies, and another reached for his jersey. Heat rushed through my cheeks and I stared at Trevor shyly. “Uhh, I think I should go.” “Yeah.” He gently reached for my hands. “Come on.”I looked down at our joined hands for a second before following him. His teammates watched us leave and one yelled. “So, that's your girlfriend.”“Mind
Kehlani “Oh my gosh, Kehlani.” Olive pursed her lips to stop herself from laughing. “What the hell was going on? What happened?”I stopped laughing, holding my stomach and then removed the phone from my body, out of my clothes. “Olive. You wouldn't believe it.”“Believe what? Why were those dumb g
Kehlani “You seem to be very stubborn. Don't you?” He looked between the road and me. “I'm just gonna act like you aren't here.”“Blah blah blah.” I teased, folded my arms and stared at the sky from the window.“You think it's funny? I'm not supposed to be late for school and here I am now, becaus
Kehlani “Get off of me. You punk!” I screamed, trying to break free but his body pressed down on mine was heavy, he started nuzzling me but I shut my eyes in sorrow, feeling his lips on my neck made me mad. I kicked him with my knees on his belly but nothing worked. “Help!” He-”He covered my mou
Kehlani “Okay.” The woman said and she left. Brent smiled at me, placing both hands on the table. “Hey.”I suddenly don't feel like eating anymore. “What are you doing here? I thought you left. I thought we left each other.” I feel the little happiness I had washed down. I really don't want him
