Bailey's POV

“Show it to me.”

Declan stopped pacing immediately, his mouth half open like he had been about to say something else just to keep the air moving, and Rider’s jaw tightened as he looked at me.

“No,” Rider said, controlled and careful, “you don’t need to see that.”

“I’m not asking,” I replied, my voice flat, steady in a way that surprised even me.

The room went quiet enough that I could hear my own breathing, slow and deliberate, and Rider watched my face for something, fear or panic

  • SOLD TO THE ALPHA KING   Chapter 71: Listen to Lia

Raven's POV“We should hear her out,” I said first, because nobody else was going to open their mouth in that moment and I could feel the weight of it sitting on all of us like nobody wanted to be the one to touch it.Rider looked at me like he already knew I was going to say something like that and he did not like it but also could not argue it yet, and Bailey was watching all of us with that steady face she gets when she is already thinking ten steps ahead even if nobody has told her the rules of the game properly.“She cited right of return,” Rider said, like he was reminding himself more than telling us, “old statutes still hold weight here and we do not have documented grounds to refuse her without opening ourselves up to challenge.”

  • SOLD TO THE ALPHA KING   Chapter 70: Lia is at the border

Rider's POV“She is at the healer’s wing,” I said, and even as the words left my mouth I realized I had not decided to speak them.Declan turned his head slightly. Raven did not move at all. Bailey was standing in front of me in the corridor, and all three of them were looking at me like I had just made a decision that would not be reversible.Bailey’s eyes stayed locked on mine.“How did you know to ask that,” she said.“I do not know,” I answered immediately, because that was the truth. “It came out before I could filter it.”I felt something in my chest tighten in a way that did not match any situation I had trained myself for. Not threat. Not strategy. Not negotiation. It was something without structure, and I did not like not having structure.Bailey did not speak for a moment after that. She just kept watching me, like she was deciding whether I deserved the answer she was about to give. Then she said, “Three.” I crossed the distance between us and pulled her into me before I f

  • SOLD TO THE ALPHA KING   Chapter 69: Pregnant??

Bailey's POV “You’re thinking too hard,” Declan said as we sat on the bench near the old well, his voice calm but different from his usual easy tone, as if he was choosing each word with care rather than letting them fall naturally.I did not answer immediately because for the first time I actually tried to think instead of reacting. The fatigue I had been dismissing finally started to arrange itself into something consistent when I looked at it properly. It had not started after the council session like I had told myself. It had started before that, small and gradual, easy to ignore because everything else had been louder. The shift in my body that I had blamed on the breaking of the old binding and the sudden absence of restriction also did not fully explain it. I had assumed my wolf becoming more active was responsible for the change in smell sensitivity and the constant awareness I could not turn off. I had built explanations that made sense in isolation, but none of them connect

  • SOLD TO THE ALPHA KING   Chapter 68: Bailey's decision

Declan's POV “She left before I could even finish my report,” I said as I watched the last of Hera’s escort disappear beyond the inner gate, the sound of the vehicle fading into the distance while the pack house settled back into its usual early morning rhythm.Hera’s departure came on the fourth day after the council session, timed with the kind of precision that suggested she had decided the exact moment she could leave without turning it into a political statement. Raven had already said his goodbye the night before in private, which meant whatever conversation they had needed did not require witnesses or commentary. Rider was buried in back-to-back meetings that had started before sunrise and showed no sign of ending anytime soon. Bailey had walked Hera to the gate at dawn without asking anyone for permission, and then she had returned inside without speaking to anyone and gone straight into the garden.I gave her twenty minutes alone before following.I found her sitting on the

  • SOLD TO THE ALPHA KING   Chapter 67: Finding information

Bailey's POV “I need access to the south corridor records,” I said as Leila entered my room with her usual quiet efficiency, already holding a small stack of updates she knew I would ask for before I asked. The pack’s reaction to the marking did not unfold in any controlled or centralized way. It spread through the territory in the same way all important pack information did, through conversation, observation, and repeated retelling until it stabilized into something close to consensus. Leila became my primary source of information by default rather than instruction, which suited both of us because she was precise, observant, and unafraid to admit when she did not know something.“The general staff are adjusting well,” she reported that morning as she placed the updates on my desk. “They are cautious but not resistant. Senior wolves are observing you more than interacting with you. There is a shift toward formal respect rather than uncertainty.”I listened while reviewing the earlier

  • SOLD TO THE ALPHA KING   Chapter 66: Don't let him ignore it

Raven's POV“You are still writing in that language,” I said as I stepped into the doorway of the east guest room, my voice steady even though I had already decided not to make this a confrontation.Callum did not look up right away. He continued writing at the small desk positioned near the window, the kind of placement that suggested whoever had assigned this room had not expected him to stay long enough to care about comfort. The exit paperwork was spread across the surface, half completed, and his pen moved with practiced familiarity over the old pack dialect that most wolves in this territory had stopped using years ago.I stayed where I was for a moment longer than necessary, not because I was uncertain about entering, but because I was observing him. I had not seen Callum in twelve years without the distance of a crisis, a battlefield, or a council directive shaping the context between us. Without that pressure, he looked different in a way I was not prepared for. Older, more c
