LOGINMaria’s POV.
The Mercedes Benz AMG glided to a stop before me as I stood at the airport entrance, my dark sunshades managed to conceal my features but not my red succulent lips and my high fashion sense. I got the stares a lot, which I was already used to; I stood tall and magnificent as the driver rounded the corner and got the door open for me. "Mommy!" Timmy, the third of the triplets, shrieked tugging at me with my designer bag. "What is it, darling?" I asked, smiling down at him. "Are we going home?" Ted, the first of the triplets, asked me, holding onto his kite. He had asked the question which his brother had wanted to ask. But before I could answer his question, Theo, ever inquisitive with his sharp eyes, looked up at me. He was the smartest of the triplets and was ready to ask questions until he had answers. "When are we going back to Massachusetts? How long are we staying in Louisiana? Do you think we will ever make new friends, Mommy?" All the questions he threw at me and I felt so weak with his questions. The driver had arrived with a nanny whom I had employed. She came down too, and helped my boys into the car. I wanted to tell little Theo that we would never go back to Massachusetts, that we were back here for good, and that Louisiana was our home and had been our hike before everything went south. As the car zoomed off, he kept staring at me; I pulled off my shades, ruffled his hair, and said to him. "I don't think we will ever go back to Massachusetts, Theo", I said in a small voice drowning those memories that were threatening to spring forth, those ugly memories. "Why?" Ted and Timmy whined. "Louisiana is beautiful, you will have fun, the weather is great, the sun is bright —" But they didn't let me finish when they cut me off. "We don't want the sun." They whined again. "Yes, I know. You will also make new friends in your new school”. I said in a very patient voice. "I don't want the sun," Ted said. "I want new friends," Theo said smiling. "I want some ice cream," Timmy said, and I rolled my eyes mechanically, and they laughed when I did. "Do it again, mommy." They pleaded. " No, I can't”. I said, smiling mischievously. "Pretty please”. Theo said. "Can you teach us?" Timmy said. "No”. I won't and rolled my eyes one more time and they shrieked in excitement, clapping their hands. The car soon stopped at a big, magnificent gate which opened automatically and the car drove in. The maids immediately filed out to meet us, bowing in greeting to me, taking the luggage, and helping the triplets into the grand living room. "Sasha," I called the middle-aged woman I had employed for the triplets nanny. "Yes, Madam." She answered. "Where is the second lady that would assist you in taking care of my kids?" "I'm so sorry I didn't let you know of the situation at hand," she said in a small voice that was barely above a whisper. I raised my brows. "What situation?" I asked in a bossy tone. "She said she won't be able to make it—" I cut her off with a wave of my hands, brushing her words off as if she were a fly. "Call the agency and tell them to send someone else," I instructed her to leave. " Or if you can't do it, I will do it myself, I want another nanny as soon as possible." I turned away and walked up to my room. I heard heels clicking behind me and I glanced over my shoulders to see Patty, my PA. "I thought you had planned on losing your job," I said with an air of nonchalance. She half ran trying to keep up with my pace. "Not really, ma'am; I had to go in the second car; I was waving frantically for you to see me at the airport." "Whatever," I said cutting her off. "I need to go to the beach, call the company tell the board of directors that the meeting has been rescheduled —" She cut me off immediately, her voice breaking into my thoughts as the butler wheeled in the food trolley. "Madam Maria, we can't possibly do that." I stretched my hand to take the wine flute and took a sip half turning to her. "And why is that if I may ask?" "It's because — we can't leave the meeting — the shareholders have something very important to discuss with you ." I faced her, staring at her in the eye; she couldn't meet my gaze and stared down at her feet. "Are you deaf?" I asked slowly as the butler left. " Who gives the orders here, you or me?" "I'm sorry ma'am, I will never —" I was quite pissed that I didn't let her finish. "Whatever." I waved my hands." I need to go to the beach, to relieve the stress." "You mentioned that you will visit your fashion house today". She said in a thin voice. I slapped my temple softly. There were so many things that I had forgotten; they had slipped my mind, and I was also quite tired. There was a reason why I was back here. Not because of any business or attending any kind of meeting. It was because of him. "Have you called Mr. Anderson?" "Yes, I did ." "Good." I said and took a sip from the wine flute ." What about the business gala tomorrow?" "I wanted to let you know.” "Perfect," I said. "I think it's time to see him after four years."Nicole's POV “Turn on the damn speaker,” I snarled at Clara as the call went through. “I want to be part of the conversation,” “End the call,” I changed my mind. “Don't make me repeat myself. Just do it!” At first, she hesitated. “You practically asked me to initiate the call. Why the sudden change of decision? Why are you always this confused?” “You dare not ask me silly questions. Just obey the damn instructions. I am not in the mood to answer any of your silly questions,” I made it clear to her. It was important for me to maintain my dominance over Clara. She is slowly disrespecting me. She needs to understand that there can only be one boss here, and that's me. “Good!” I applauded her. “You made the right decision. “You were so lucky that no one answered the phone. I had already planned your slow and painful death,” I folded my punch so she could see its size. “Now listen to me,” I pulled her ears as though she were my daughter. “I love it when people pay attentio
Nicole's POV “You're declared wanted by the federation,” Clara finally ignited my burning rage. I thought it was a fluke until she said. “Are you that blind not to read the handwriting on the fucking wall?” “What did you just say?” I freaked out. The panic spread around my body like a waistline. How I didn't collapse to the news is more than just a miracle. “You are definitely lying, and I am not falling for that,” I doubted her. “You don't know what you're talking about. You've lost your mind. You just haven't found that one person to tell you,” I paced around the lodge as though I were searching for a lost item. Then I went back to her. “I need evidence. I don't believe the words you're saying. You can't start fabricating stories in the head that never happened,” “Did you just call me a liar?” She coughed while still struggling to hold her breath. Seeing how uncomfortable she was, it just dawned on me that I was this close to murdering an innocent lady out of rage. “Y
Nicole's POV This is precisely what I hoped and wished for. Finally, I got what I deserved. Slowly, I pulled out of the garage and stormed outside my car. I wasn't rushing to walk into the reception. Rather, I scanned the entire building, just to be sure no one was watching me from afar. “The coast is clear for me to act fast,” I said to myself before gesturing to the reception. Despite having my gun slotted in my pocket, I was still careful enough not to fall prey to Kane for the second time. “I need a room, please,” I spoke nicely to the receptionist. “How much does a room cost?” She paused to stare at me as though I reminded her of someone. She was motionless as though she had just been electrocuted. “Hey,” I snapped my fingers at the receptionist. “Why are you staring at me like that? Have we met before?” “Nope,” she refuted. “Of course, not. I don't think we've met before.” “Sorry, what did you say again?” She called my attention to my first question. “I
Nicole's POV How I managed to escape from Kane's web of massive destruction and endless suffering remains a mystery. I can't imagine what would have happened if he had caught me. Not even the universe would have done anything to stop Kane and Lady Dragon from strangling me to death with their bare hands for stabbing him in the back on what could have been the biggest drug heist of all time. For several weeks, I thought I had escaped from Kane when he didn't reach out. I could have sworn that he was ready to forfeit the money. Then, suddenly, he showed up out of the blue to revisit the past I had put behind me. It didn't occur to me that Kane would locate my hotel room. The last time I checked, I changed my mobile device to stop him from reaching out to me. Several years ago, before Angela got married to Tony Woods, we were both loyal servants to Kane. He used us to carry out some of his shady deals like drug peddling, theft and other notorious crimes. Not un
Angela's POV “Wait a minute. You stabbed him, an innocent man, just to prove what exactly? How could you even do such a thing? Why are you so cruel?” Nicole berated me after we arrived in our hotel room. Bloody ingrate! I never expected such an attitude from him. I deserve a big hug for my actions. I literally took a huge risk to save his life. I could have got myself arrested in the process, too. Is this the mother fucking thanks I get for spilling the so-called innocent blood just to rescue the one I love? I just risk my life for nothing. Now the cops will be after me. They'd do everything to ensure I am apprehended and thrown behind bars. I had the option of abandoning Nicole at the station and running away with Kelly. I had enough funds to relocate to any city of my choice without the fear of being traced by the FBI or New York police department. But no! What did I do? My love for Nicole dragged me back to come save him. That nasty decision I took has now come ba
Susan's POV “You stopped by at Paul's house?” I stuttered. Words failed me to express how I'm feeling right now. It's as though someone hurled the world on my fucking back. “Yes, I did,” Ethan affirmed. “Are you surprised? Is there something you want to say to me?” “Nah! I'm good,” I denied. As much as I want to admit it, I can't bring myself to tell Ethan what happened at Paul's house. He will never believe me. He'd have every reason to believe that I had sex with Paul. Regardless of how hard I want to explain myself to him, he will still see me as a pathetic liar. “So here's what I found out,” Ethan cleared his throat to speak. He was about to speak further when his phone rang. I felt a sensation of relief in my soul. The call was my saving grace. I needed a bit of distraction away from Ethan and I finally found one. I kept my focus on Ethan, hoping that he would answer the phone. None of that happened. Ethan was hell-bent on having this conversation with me. “Y
Susan's POV I haven't been able to step out of my car since I arrived home. The fear of Ethan is the beginning of wisdom! I am hoping he will be fast asleep already. This ain't the right time to have an altercation with him, especially after what I suffered at the hands of Paul. I haven't re
Susan's POV “You can't run, Susan. You're dead already. I'd derive pleasure in strangling you to death,” he threatened me and managed to stand up from the bed. Finally, the door opened in my favour after several failed attempts. On the verge of escaping, Paul pounced on me and pulled me back.
Susan's POV I'm waiting for Paul to apologize for attempting to force himself on me, and he hasn't said anything yet. It's my fault for expecting an apology from a man who has nothing to offer. I might as well wait for eternity for that to happen. I looked closely into his eyes and all I saw w
Tony Woods' POV It's been over ten minutes since I arrived at the interrogation room with Patrick and no one has uttered a word yet. I spent the last couple of minutes strolling around as though I were searching for a lost item. All eyes are on me to break the silence since the case is about m
