ELIAS’ POV

The morning air was filled with excitement as the entire school gathered on the field for the school opening contest, which I heard was the most anticipated event of Mortlach Academy.

It was a battle of strength, speed and dominance among the male students that decided who stood at the top in the leaderboard in the beginning of the session.

It was a chance for every pack heir to prove they were worthy of their titles. Topping the leader board in my first contest would at least make my father proud and my mom at ease that I was fitting in well.

As I tightened the laces of my boots, my wolf, Carlos, muttered in my head, ‘Try not to faint when they start releasing their Alphas's scents.’

“You're not helping,” I hissed under my breath

From the corner of my eyes, I saw Rowan standing a few feet away from me, stretching his arms, the muscles in his back flexing under his White and Silver Jersey, which was our team colour.

His strong scent of Cedarwood and stormy rain was heavy in the air, teasing my suppressed instincts. I forced myself to focus on tying my wrist guards.

The coordinator of the contest stepped up to the podium to explain the rules of the match. There were a total of eight teams with 15 members each. Four teams would go head to head in the first match and second match to obtain each other's flags. The one team that is able to eliminate all the members of all three teams and claim all the flags would advance to the finals.

The crowd, precisely the female students screamed around the field as the announcer called for the participants to take their positions.

Our team, Silver Hawks were going against Night Reavers who were putting on Dark violet and Gray which also happened to he Jace's team, Iron fang with Steel gray and black jersey and lastly Golden fangs with Gold black Jersey.

We took our positions on the field and all heads turned when she walked in. Selena Drake in Silver and white jersey. Her long hair tied in a ponytail and her lips curved into a smile knowing that she had half the crowd drooling.

A murmur broke out among the spectators.

“She's cheering for the Silver Hawks?”

“That's Elias Thorne’s team!”

“At least we now know who caught her attention.”

I could feel Adrian’s glare all the way from across the field, his jaw tightening as he watched Selena sit among our supporters.

She waved at me and I gave her a polite nod with a small smile but when she winked, the crowd erupted into teasing cheers. My face heated up with discomfort.

‘Play along,’ my wolf whispered. ‘We need her.’

So I did something stupid; I winked back.

All the girls screamed and Selena’s smirk deepened. I didn't bother looking at Adrian because I knew he was probably thinking of 1000 ways to murder me.

“Easy, lover boy,” Rowan muttered beside me, his lips curving in amusement.

“Shut up.”

All teams took their stance, protecting their flags as we sized each other up. The whistle blew and for a moment everywhere was silent.

Before I knew it, all three teams charged at us at the same time.

“What the fuck?” I muttered with wide eyes.

“It seems they are trying to eliminate you first,” Rowan said beside him. “Your reputation as the Perfect Alpha isn't doing us any good right now.”

I took a deep breath and glanced at Rowan who gave me a nod. At my lead, our teams collided with the other teams. Our wolves were growling to be released as the air was thick with power, dominance and adrenaline.

While the rest of our teams were protecting our flags, Rowan and I were charging forward to eliminate others and claim their flags.

Rowan and I had barely exchanged words since last night, but on the field, something clicked. Our movements synced like two gears in perfect motion

When I dodged left, he covered my right and when I was cornered, he was suddenly there, knocking someone down with a powerful tackle.

Every time our eyes met, something inside me sparked; dangerous, wild and confusing.

“Elias, watch your back,” Rowan barked.

I ducked just in time as another player lunged toward me. Rowan countered with a swift block and grinned down at me. “You're welcome, Perfect Alpha.”

I rolled my eyes, panting heavily. “Don't get too cocky.”

He chuckled. “I wouldn't dream of it.” He reached out his hand to me and I grabbed it to get back on my feet.

Together, we dominated the field with great teamwork and by the time we grabbed the last flag and made it back to our team domain, the final whistle blew.

The Silver Hawks had won the first round.

The crowd exploded in cheers. I could hear Selena’s voice screaming my name as she jumped and clapped.

All of a sudden the entire crowd was chanting my name and a wide smile appeared on my face and my heart raced at the attention.

Before I could process it, Rowan grabbed me and pulled me into a tight hug.

My entire body froze.

His warmth pressed against me as his scent enveloped and hit me like a drug. My Omega instinct, usually hidden by the suppressants, flared up violently. My pulse spiked and my skin began to heat up.

My heart thudded in my chest as my mind was clouded with thoughts that were anything but innocent.

No, not now. Definitely not him.

“Hey, you okay?” Rowan’s deep voice said in my ear, too close and too dangerous.

I quickly pulled away, forcing a laugh. “Yeah, I just need some air.”

Before he could respond, I turned on my heel and bolted toward the locker room.

The crowd cheers faded behind me as I stumbled into the empty restroom, gripping the edge of the sink until my knuckles turned white.

My reflection in the mirror was terrifying. My face was flushed, lips trembling and pupils dilated.

“What the hell is happening to me?” I whispered as my breath came out in short gasps.

‘He triggered your heat,’ Carlos growled, his voice thick with warning and desire.

My chest tightened. “No, that can't be possible. I took the suppressant this morning.”

‘Your body wants him more than the drug can control. The drug might not be able to help us anymore.’

No, I had to think of another way to keep my Omega instinct under control. My mom isn't here to help so I have to think of another way. I had gone too far and my mother has sacrificed a lot to keep this secret of mine for me to let everything get exposed because of Rowan Vale.

The sound of footsteps echoed outside the door followed by Rowan’s voice. “Elias? Are you in there?”

I froze, my heart hammering hard against my ribcage.

“Open up,” he said in a softer tone. “Are you okay?”

I saw the doorknob turned and everything froze.

if he stepped in now and got close enough to smell my arousal, everything would be over.

My secret will be exposed.

ELIAS'S POV Five Years LaterThe morning of the coronation dawned gray and cold, but I didn't feel the chill.I stood at the window of my childhood bedroom, no longer a child's room, but the quarters of the heir who was about to become Alpha. The Silverhaven mansion sprawled below me, servants rushing through the courtyards, guests arriving in sleek black cars. Banners bearing the Silverhaven wolf hung from every lamppost.Today, I would become the Alpha of Silverhaven Pack and the leader of the Big Six.My father had announced his retirement six months ago. The council had debated, the elders had deliberated, and the Moon Goddess had given her sign, a lunar eclipse that bathed the pack lands in silver light, lasting exactly as long as the ceremony would take. There was no question. It was time."Honey, it's time," Rowan said from the doorway.I turned. He leaned against the frame, arms crossed, a small smile playing on his lips. At thirty-nine, he was more handsome than ever, the sh

ELIAS'S POVTen years. That's how long it had been since we graduated from Mortlach Academy. Ten years of weddings and births and pack leadership and late-night group phone calls that always ended with "we need to do this more often."So when Selena suggested we build a vacation house, neutral territory, outside the Big Six packs, no politics allowed everyone said yes.The house was enormous. A sprawling mansion on the edge of a lake, surrounded by forests and mountains. There were enough bedrooms for all of us, plus a game room, a pool, and a backyard that seemed to go on forever.I stood on the porch, watching the chaos unfold.Rowan appeared beside me, slipping his hand into mine. "The kids have been here for twenty minutes, and they've already broken a lamp.""That's a new record.""Lily cried. Micah blamed the twins. The twins blamed each other." He leaned his head on my shoulder. "It's going to be a long week."I grinned. "I can't wait."The first night, we all gathered around t

KAEL'S POVGabriella had decided to stay in Silverhaven instead of returning to Nightbourne Pack after Elias and Rowan's wedding. She said it was because she wanted a break from pack politics. I suspected it was because she wanted to be during the school break.Either way, I wasn't complaining. It benefitted my plans because I had been thinking of how to ask her to stay in Silverhaven without being suspicious. We spent the first week doing nothing at my personal house, sleeping in, cooking together and taking walks in my new neighbourhood. She laughed more than I'd ever seen her laugh and seemed more relaxed, obviously to my plans."You're being weird," Gabriella said one evening, watching me pace the living room."I'm not being weird.""You've been checking your phone every five minutes. You asked me what my favorite flower is. You've been humming the same song all day." She narrowed her eyes. "What are you up to?"I stopped pacing and sighed. “Fine, you caught me. We are going somew

ELIAS'S POVIt took us six months to plan the entire wedding to our satisfaction.Every Alpha from every pack was invited. The guest list stretched across the entire werewolf community, and the ceremony had to be held in the Great Hall of Silverhaven, the only venue large enough to accommodate the hundreds of attendees.I stood in front of the mirror, adjusting my ceremonial robes. White and silver, the colors of Silverhaven Pack. A small wolf's head pin on my lapel, my father's, passed down through generations.Silverhaven has always stuck to their traditional ways of holding wedding ceremonies especially for their future leaders."You look nervous," Kael said from the doorway."I'm not nervous.""Your hands are shaking."I looked down. He was right.Kael walked over and straightened my collar. "He's waiting for you out there. He's been waiting for months, so have you." He met my eyes. "You've got this."I took a breath. "Thanks."He clapped my shoulder and left. The music began, sof

ONE YEAR AND FOUR MONTHS LATER ELIAS'S POV I stood in the graduation gown, the silver tassel brushing my cheek, and looked out at the sea of students and families filling the Mortlach Academy stadium. Beside me, Rowan shifted, his shoulder pressing against mine. He was nervous. I could feel it in the way he kept adjusting his collar, the way his foot tapped against the ground. "Relax, you're going to be fine," I whispered and he nodded before taking a deep breath. The academic awards were announced and I topped the class, no surprise there, given how many nights I'd spent studying instead of sleeping. Rowan had come second, which was nothing short of miraculous considering he'd had to relearn two years of material in less than one. Silva had taken third, and she'd grumbled about it for a full ten minutes before Selena reminded her that top three her final year was nothing to be ashamed of. We concluded the ceremony with all third year students receiving their graduation se
