**Elara's POV*

We moved at dawn, cutting through the thickest parts of the neutral woods where few wolves dared travel. Kael kept me close, one arm banded around my waist as we ran. His body heat bled into mine, constant and distracting. Every few miles he'd pull me behind a cluster of trees, press me against rough bark, and devour my mouth like a starving man.

"Need another taste," he growled during one stop, dropping to his knees right there in the dirt. He shoved my torn dress up and buried his face between my thighs without warning. His tongue was relentless, lapping at my slick folds, sucking hard on my clit until my legs shook and I came with a muffled scream against my own arm.

He rose, lips shiny with my arousal, and kissed me deeply so I could taste myself on him. "Good girl," he praised, voice rough. "When we reach safety, I'm knotting this pretty pussy for hours."

The bond between us thrummed stronger with every touch. I was starting to crave the darkness in him.

By late afternoon, we finally reached the rendezvous point, a wide clearing marked by tall black banners bearing the Eclipse Dominion's sigil. Twenty elite warriors in dark armor waited, led by Commander Thorne, one of my father's most trusted men. Their eyes widened when they saw me.

"Princess Elara," Thorne said, bowing deeply. "The High Alpha has been waiting for your return."

Relief crashed through me. For the first time in years, I felt the weight of protection at my back.

Kael released me slowly, but his hand lingered on my hip. "She's safe with you now."

Thorne nodded respectfully. "We'll escort her the rest of the way. You have our thanks, Alpha Draven."

I turned to Kael, chest tight. "You're not coming with us?"

He gave me that feral smile and brushed a thumb across my swollen bottom lip. "I need to make sure no one's following too closely. I'll catch up before nightfall." His eyes darkened. "Don't let anyone else touch you, little queen. You're still mine to ruin."

He kissed me hard, possessive, right in front of the entire escort. Then he shifted into his massive silver-black wolf and disappeared back into the trees.

I watched him go with a strange ache in my chest before mounting the horse Thorne offered me. The journey to the Dominion border passed in tense silence, the warriors scanning every shadow. No sign of Darius. Maybe the river and our pace had finally thrown him off.

We crossed into Eclipse territory just as the sun began to set. Golden banners welcomed us. I was home.

But something felt wrong.

Hours later, as we approached the outer fortress, I couldn't shake the unease. Kael should have caught up by now.

"Commander," I said, voice sharp. "Send scouts back. Kael should've returned already."

Thorne hesitated but nodded. Two wolves peeled off and vanished into the woods.

Night had fully fallen when the first howl of pain echoed from the direction we'd come.

My blood turned to ice.

I slid off the horse and ran toward the treeline despite Thorne's shouted warnings. The escort formed up around me, weapons drawn.

Then I smelled it. Blood. Kael's blood.

A battered silver-black wolf burst from the trees, limping badly. Deep gashes bled across his flank and shoulder. One ear was torn. He shifted mid-stride, collapsing to one knee just inside the clearing. Naked, covered in sweat and blood, he looked up at me with blazing eyes.

"Elara, run inside," he rasped.

Behind him, a massive black wolf exploded into the clearing. Darius. He shifted instantly, golden eyes locked on me with terrifying obsession. Fresh blood, Kael's, stained his mouth and chest.

"You really thought you could run from me?" Darius snarled, voice dripping venom. His gaze raked over me hungrily. "I told you, Elara. You belong to me."

Kael forced himself up, swaying, but still positioning himself between us. "She rejected you, Kane. Get the fuck out of Eclipse lands."

Darius laughed, low and unhinged. "You look half-dead already, rogue. I'll finish what I started and take my Luna back. Then I'll make her watch while I gut you slowly."

More of Darius's elite wolves appeared at the edge of the trees, snarling.

Thorne shouted orders. Eclipse warriors shifted and charged to meet them.

Kael lunged at Darius despite his wounds, but his movements were slower. Darius dodged and slashed vicious claws across Kael's chest, reopening older scars and creating new ones. Kael roared in pain but kept fighting, buying time.

"Get her inside the fortress!" Thorne yelled at me.

Strong hands grabbed my arms. I fought them, eyes locked on Kael as Darius landed another brutal blow that sent him crashing into a tree.

"Kael!" I screamed.

His ice-blue eyes met mine across the chaos, filled with feral determination even as blood poured from his wounds.

"Go," he mouthed.

Darius turned toward me, ignoring the battle raging around him, pure murderous possession on his face.

"I'm coming for you, wife," he growled, taking a step forward. "And this time, I won't be gentle."

The Eclipse warriors formed a wall between us, but Darius's eyes never left mine. The bond I had shattered still whispered dark, toxic promises in the back of my mind.

Kael staggered to his feet one last time, charging Darius with a desperate roar.

Then everything went to hell as more Ironfang reinforcements poured from the shadows.

Elara adjusted the cushion behind her back in the council chamber, trying to find a comfortable position. The pup had dropped lower in the last few days, making every step heavier. Kael stayed close, ready to catch her if needed.“You should be resting,” he said for the third time that morning.“I rested yesterday,” Elara replied. “The warriors need to see me. They need to know their future queen isn’t hiding.”A group of young fighters spotted her and straightened. One, a bold female named Mira, stepped forward. “Luna, can you show us the shield technique again? Some of us are still struggling with the focus.”Elara smiled. “Of course. Gather around.”She demonstrated the golden shield, creating a small dome of light that shimmered in the air. “Feel the energy like a second skin. Don’t force it. Guide it. Breathe with it.”Mira tried. Her shield flickered but held. The others cheered.“You’re getting it,” Elara encouraged. “Keep practicing. When Tom comes, every shield matters.”Kael

Elara leaned back in the cushioned chair in their private sitting room, one hand on her belly as another strong kick made her pause. Kael knelt in front of her, his hands gently massaging her lower back.“Another restless one?” he asked softly.“She or he is training hard today,” Elara replied with a small smile. “Keeps reminding me what we’re fighting for.”Kael pressed a kiss to her belly. “Our fighter. Already like their mother.”She ran her fingers through his hair. “And their father. Strong. Protective. Stubborn.”He looked up, ice-blue eyes serious. “The scouts returned this morning. Tom’s forces hit another outpost. Smaller this time, but closer. He’s testing our response.”Elara’s hand tightened in his hair. “Casualties?”“Light,” Kael said. “But the message is clear. He’s trying to pull us thin. Force us to spread our warriors.”She nodded slowly. “Then we don’t. We reinforce the key points. Send healers and supplies to the affected villages. Show them we protect our own.”Ka

Elara sat on the edge of the bed, one hand on her belly as another strong kick made her wince. The pup had been especially active since dawn. Kael knelt in front of her, his large hands gently massaging her lower back.“Another bad night?” he asked softly.“Not bad,” she replied. “Just busy. This little one is training already.”Kael smiled, pressing a kiss to her belly. “He or she gets that from you. Always moving, always fighting.”She threaded her fingers through his hair. “And from you. Strong and protective.”He looked up, ice-blue eyes serious. “The scouts came back last night. Tom’s main camp is bigger than we thought. He’s got hybrids now. Turned wolves who are faster and stronger.”Elara’s hand tightened in his hair. “How many?”“Enough to make a real push,” Kael said. “Viktor wants to strike soon. Before they get any stronger.”She nodded slowly. “We can’t wait much longer. The eastern packs are holding, but fear is spreading. If we lose them now...”“We won’t,” Kael promise

Two packs have formally joined our alliance. The third is still hesitating.”Seraphina spoke up. “I spoke with their alpha yesterday. They’re afraid Tom will retaliate if they commit. They want more concrete guarantees.”Elara asked, “What kind of guarantees?”“Protection for their families if things go badly,” Seraphina replied. “And a voice in how the alliance is run after the war. They don’t want to trade one tyrant for another.”Kael’s fingers tensed slightly on Elara’s back. “We’re not tyrants. But we can’t give them full control either. That would weaken the entire structure.”Elara thought for a moment. “Offer them seats on the expanded council. Not full vot

Elara adjusted her position on the cushioned chair in the council chamber, one hand resting on her belly. The pup had been particularly active this morning, kicking hard enough to make concentration difficult. Kael sat beside her, his hand occasionally brushing hers under the table.Voss leaned forward. “The eastern packs sent word. Three of them are open to alliance, but they want guarantees. They remember what Darius did to those who opposed him.”“They should,” Elara said. “That’s why we’re different. We don’t rule through fear. We offer protection and choice.”Seraphina, seated farther down the table, nodded. “I can speak with their elders again. They trust me more than they trust outsiders right now.”Kael studied her. “You’ve been useful these past weeks. But if this is some game...”“It’s not a game,” Seraphina cut in, meeting his eyes steadily. “I lost everything because I believed Darius’s promises. I won’t make my child live with those mistakes.”Elara watched the exchange.
