I don't even know his name, and I don't care.

His mouth crashes into mine with a hunger that matches the fire burning through my veins. The kiss is not gentle. It is desperate, like he has been waiting for this as long as I have been falling apart. His lips are firm and hot against mine. I grab onto his shoulders, feeling the massive muscle there, and pull him closer. For the first time tonight, I feel alive. Not broken. Not humiliated. Wanted.

His big hands slide down my sides. The heat inside me spikes higher with every touch. My body presses against him without thinking. He is so much bigger than me. Powerful. Dangerous. But right now he feels safe. Like the only thing that can fill the empty hole Derek left behind.

He breaks the kiss just enough to breathe against my neck. "Beautiful," he growls, voice low and rough. The word sends a shiver through me. "So perfect." No one has ever said those things to me like this. Not with this much need. His red-gold eyes catch the moonlight through the shadows, watching me like I am something precious. Something he cannot look away from.

I should be scared. A stranger in the Wildlands. Half-shifted. Massive. But the heat has taken over. My hands explore his chest, feeling the hard lines of muscle, the scars under my fingers. He sucks in a sharp breath when I touch him. His control is slipping. I can feel it in the way his grip tightens on my hips, then loosens again, like he is trying not to hurt me.

He lays me down on the soft forest floor. His body covers mine, shielding me from the cold night. Every kiss, every touch makes the ache worse and better at the same time. I arch into him, whimpering when his mouth finds the sensitive spot on my throat. He is rough in places, like he cannot hold back completely, but then he slows down. His fingers trace my skin so gently it makes my eyes sting with tears. For years I felt invisible with Derek. Tonight this stranger makes me feel seen. Chosen. Even if it is only for these moments.

The heat builds and builds until I feel like I might shatter. My wolf pushes forward, urging me closer. I wrap my legs around him. His breathing grows ragged. "Mine," he mutters against my skin, almost too quiet to hear. That word should scare me. Instead it makes the fire inside flare hotter.

We move together in the darkness. I cannot see his full face, only shadows and those glowing eyes. But I feel everything. The way his muscles tense under my hands. The way he holds back even as his body demands more. The connection between us feels electric, like our wolves are reaching for each other. For the first time in hours, the pain from Derek fades. There is only this. Only him.

The pleasure climbs higher. My fingers dig into his back. His deep voice keeps whispering praises between kisses. "Perfect... so good..." I have never felt anything like this. The heat crests, crashing over me in waves that leave me trembling. He follows right after, his body shuddering against mine. We cling to each other like the world might end if we let go.

Then something shifts. His mouth moves to the spot where my neck meets my shoulder. His teeth graze the skin there. My wolf surges forward so strong it takes my breath away. Yes. Claim us. Make us yours. I tilt my head without thinking, offering my neck to him. Even through the heat, some part of me knows what this means. I want it.

He hesitates for half a second. Then his teeth sink in. Sharp pain flashes first, making me cry out. But the pain explodes into pleasure so intense my vision blurs. The mark burns deep into my skin. Something snaps into place between us. Suddenly I feel him. Not just his body. His emotions flood through the new bond. Desperate possessiveness. Fierce protection. And something like awe that makes my chest tighten.

We both cry out together. The completion hits us at the same time as the claiming. Perfect unity. For one moment, nothing else exists. No Derek. No pack. No humiliation. Just us.

My wolf does not stop there. I lean up and bite his shoulder hard. Females rarely mark males, but it feels right. He groans deep in his chest, the sound wrecked, like I have destroyed him in the best way. His arms wrap around me tighter.

We stay locked together as the waves slowly fade. His body shields mine completely from the cold ground. My heat finally settles. The desperate need quiets. Exhaustion crashes over me like a heavy blanket. My limbs feel heavy. My mind starts to clear just a little.

What did I just do?

I try to see his face better in the darkness, but he keeps to the shadows. His features stay hidden. Half-shifted still. "Who are you?" I whisper, voice hoarse.

He stays quiet for a long moment. His hand strokes my hair, surprisingly gentle. "Someone who doesn't deserve you."

The words confuse me, but I am too tired to push. My body has nothing left. He shifts slightly and pulls off his torn shirt, wrapping it around me. The fabric carries his scent. Pine and smoke. It comforts me more than it should. He holds me close, his big body curled protectively around mine. For the first time all night, I feel safe.

His fingers keep stroking my hair as my eyes drift shut. Sleep pulls me under fast.

When I wake up, grey pre-dawn light filters through the trees. Cold air hits my skin. I am alone.

I sit up quickly, clutching his shirt around me. My ruined dress lies nearby. The mark on my neck throbs with every heartbeat. It burns hot, sending little sparks through my body. I touch it carefully and gasp at the jolt of sensation.

"Hello?" I call out, voice weak. No answer. I look around desperately. No sign of him. Just massive wolf prints in the dirt and some partial boot prints leading away. Nothing else. The forest is silent and indifferent, like last night never happened.

He left me.

Fresh pain slices through my chest, layering right on top of yesterday's devastation. Another rejection. First Derek in front of the whole pack. Now this stranger who marked me and disappeared before morning. Tears burn my eyes. I pull his shirt tighter around me, breathing in his scent. Why would he do that? Why mark me if he was just going to leave?

But even through the hurt, a small part of me feels grateful. If he had not shown up, the heat might have killed me out here. Or worse. He saved me from that. Still, the confusion twists inside me. Why mark me at all? Why make me feel wanted and then vanish?

I force myself to stand. My body aches everywhere. Soreness between my legs. Scratches on my skin. Every step hurts as I wrap the torn dress around myself the best I can. I keep his shirt underneath. His scent is the only comfort I have right now.

I am lost in the Wildlands. Marked by some unknown wolf. The pack is probably searching for me by now. I have to go back. No choice. Using the faint light from the rising sun, I figure out which way is home. My feet move slowly at first. Every step sends pain through me, both physical and emotional.

The mark on my neck is impossible to hide. It sits there bold and obvious. In my traditional pack, this changes everything. A marked female who does not know her marker? Ruined. Unmarriageable. Shameful. They will call me names. Look at me with disgust. My father will be furious.

Derek's betrayal from yesterday already feels like it happened years ago. That pain has been joined by this new one. I walk through the trees, hugging myself, trying to hold it together. What have I done? The thought keeps repeating in my head. What have I done?

I'd been rejected by my boyfriend and abandoned by my mate in less than twelve hours. I wondered how much more my heart could break before there was nothing left.

  • THE RUTHLESS ALPHA'S MARKED BRIDE    Already Begun

Lyra's Pov‎‎Calla looks at my stomach before she looks at my face, and that is how I know whatever she saw is already true.‎‎Calla was pale and shaking from the strain of whatever vision had hit her. She sat up in the medical bed, breathing carefully, in through the nose, the way I had seen her breathe when she was managing something large passing through her gift rather than pain. She looked at my stomach first. Not my face, not Theron, not the doorway. My stomach. Then her eyes came up to meet mine, and whatever she found there seemed to confirm something she had already decided was true before we arrived. ‎‎"Sit down," she said. "Both of you."‎‎We sat. Theron pulled his chair close to mine without looking. ‎‎"I saw a child," she said. "Not far in the future. Not years from now. Conceived tonight, during the split itself, while the Convergence power was still actively moving between you." ‎‎Theron’s voice came out sharp. "That is not possible. We were not even—"‎‎Calla

  • THE RUTHLESS ALPHA'S MARKED BRIDE    What He Was Trying to Crush Down

‎‎Lyra's Pov ‎‎‎He thinks if he says nothing, I will not notice. He does not understand yet what nothing means to me now.‎‎I stood in the doorway, Theron across the room, both of us exhausted in a way that went all the way down to the bone, by something neither of us had words for yet. The air between us felt thick. I could feel it all through the new connection. The relief still raw from the ceremony ground, the want, the guilt he was trying to push down like it was something shameful.‎‎"You do not have to crush it down anymore," I said quietly. "I am not asking you to."‎‎Theron's jaw tight. "It is not appropriate. You almost died tonight. I almost lost you, and the first thing my body wants is—"‎‎He stopped himself there, the rest of the sentence dying somewhere in his throat. He did not need to finish it. I had already felt exactly what he had been about to say, sharp and immediate, layered with everything he had been holding back for weeks now. ‎‎"I felt it before you

  • THE RUTHLESS ALPHA'S MARKED BRIDE    The First Thing I Feel

Lyra's Pov I open my eyes on the ceremony ground and the first thing I feel is not my own fear. It is his. The Blood Moon was already fading toward dawn, the red light bleeding back into ordinary gray. I was lying in the grass, the pack and our allies still gathered around the edges of the circle, nobody moving, nobody speaking. My own body felt intact when I checked it, no visible mark, no obvious change. But something in my chest sat wrong and crowded. Like there was more of me in there than there used to be. I reached for Theron without thinking about it, my hand finding his arm where he lay beside me. The second my fingers touched his skin, something flooded into me that was not mine. Not words. Not a vision. Just feeling, raw and completely unfiltered. Terror, sharp enough to make my breath catch. Relief so deep it nearly buckled something inside my chest. Love so overwhelming it sat closer to grief than anything I had a name for. I recoiled from the intensity, gasping,

  • THE RUTHLESS ALPHA'S MARKED BRIDE    The Blood Moon Eve

Lyra's PovThe night before the Blood Moon, and every thread of the last forty chapters pulls tight at once.We decided on Garrett before sunrise. No public exposure, no humiliation in front of the troops he had pledged to bring. Just Theron, meeting with him privately the moment he arrived, and me standing close enough that the bond carried everything back to me in real time.I watched through the connection more than I watched with my own eyes. Theron laid the evidence on the table between them and waited. Garrett looked at it for a long moment, and he did not deny a single word of it."They have my daughter," he said. His voice came out flat, stripped of everything that used to make him sound confident in a council chamber. "Have had her for six months."The room went very still."Every report I sent them was the price of keeping her alive," he said. "I included errors in every single one. Small enough that nobody would notice. Large enough to matter when it counted."Theron's voic

  • THE RUTHLESS ALPHA'S MARKED BRIDE    Ten Days

Lyra's Pov‎‎Ten days is not enough time. We use every hour of it anyway.‎‎I shared the vision with Theron immediately at dawn. He sat up fast, no grogginess, like some part of him had already been waiting for bad news. I watched his face change while I talked, the calm dropping away piece by piece until what was left was pure focus. ‎‎"They are not waiting for the Blood Moon," he said slowly . "They are moving before it. That means they do not want to interfere during the ceremony. They want to stop it from happening at all."‎‎"Three targets," I said. "Us. The ceremony location. Or the other bloodlines you and Calla have been trying to protect."‎‎"We cannot defend all three the same way." His jaw tightened. "We do not have the numbers for that, not in ten days." ‎‎By midmorning the war room was full again, maps spread everywhere. Theron made the calls fast, no hesitation once he decided‎‎"First priority is you and me," he said, looking around the table at the gathered Al

  • THE RUTHLESS ALPHA'S MARKED BRIDE    The Claiming

Lyra's Pov ‎Two weeks before the Blood Moon, Theron asked me something I was not prepared for.‎‎The morning after I made my private decision about the vision, I went to the garden before anyone else was up. The herb beds I planted when I first arrived as Luna, back when everything about this place still felt foreign and cold, were flourishing in a way that surprised me. I sat on the stone bench, running my fingers through the leaves, trying to calm the thoughts racing in my head. The vision of Theron standing alone in the ceremony circle kept replaying. I had not told him yet. I was still deciding if I should.‎‎Footsteps approached. Theron. He sat beside me without preamble, his shoulder brushing mine. For a moment we just sat in silence, the bond humming quietly between us.‎‎"I want to claim you properly," he said suddenly.‎‎I turned to look at him. "We are marked. We are bonded."‎‎"We are marked," he agreed. "We had a contract ceremony, signed under pressure, witnessed by
