LOGINThane’s POV
Gas station near the border with Poland
A car finally stopped and gave me a ride to the nearest gas station. I took the phone from the clerk and made the call. “Get your ass here and pick me up. Now.”
As I waited for them to show up, I kept thinking about Victoria. I shouldn’t have left her. Her scent continued to linger on me. I wanted her. I’d fallen for her, but I couldn’t say it out loud. Her lips, her caress, what was wrong with me?
I didn’t care. I’d never met anyone like her. She was pure fire, but she couldn’t let go of the past. An SUV pulled up in front of me.
“Alpha Thane, we’ve been searching everywhere for you.”
“Oh, really?” I said, climbing in. “Cadmus, my brother, I was being hunted by a pack of killers. Where the hell were you looking?”
“Thane, I thought you were hurt,” Cadmus said.
“I was. Nearly died. But my angel saved me,” I replied.
“An angel? Okay…”
“You got a change of clothes for me?” I asked.
“Yeah. Called the doc?”
“Already did,” he said as we pulled up to the five-star hotel.
Cadmus kept staring at me in the elevator.
“What?” I snapped.
“You look… different. What happened with this angel of yours?”
“I fell in love with her,” I admitted, finally saying it out loud.
He gave a shaky laugh. “Playboy Alpha Thane? Fell for a girl?”
“Yeah, I did. What can I say?”
“Because she saved you?” Cadmus asked.
“Funny, she asked the same thing. No, brother, I fell for her because she’s different from anyone I’ve ever met. Anyone.”
“This is insane. Never thought I’d see the day…”
I dropped my clothes on the way to the bathroom. Under the hot shower, I couldn’t stop thinking about her. I ran my finger over the stitches she’d made, then hit the tile wall with my fist. Damn it. I needed her, her scent, her feel.
When I walked back into the living area dressed, the doctor was already talking with Cadmus.
"Allow me to examine you, Alpha Thane," the doctor said. I dropped the pants without hesitation, smiling to myself as I remembered how Victoria had asked the same thing each time she changed my bandages.
The doctor nodded affirmatively. "Excellent work. The scar will be minimal. Who treated you?"
"My angel," I said. "She saved my life."
"This was a serious wound. You must have lost a lot of blood."
"I did. As I said, she's an angel." I turned to Cadmus. "I gave her your number. Check your messages and then get a new phone."
Two photos appeared when I opened the messages. The first showed Victoria by a fence, confronted by a man. The caption read: "She got busted saving your ass."
In the second, Victoria gazed at someone, unaware she was being photographed. I outlined her face on the screen.
Cadmus peered over my shoulder and whistled. "She's fire, brother."
"All done," the doctor announced. "Keep the area clean. Did you take antibiotics?"
"Yeah, she kept me full of them," I laughed. "Thanks, Doc."
Back in the bedroom, I called a number. After several rings, she answered.
"Kara, what punishment did Victoria get?"
"Confinement for a day and kitchen duty," she spoke quietly.
"Take care of her," I ordered. "And don't touch her again, Kara. She's mine."
I hung up and saw that room service had arrived. My stomach growled. After days of eating only protein bars and the bread Victoria found for me, real food looked like heaven.
Cadmus watched me devour my meal with an odd expression.
"What?" I snapped between bites. "Instead of staring, tell me why our plan went to hell, and I ended up being hunted by psychopaths."
"We have a mole," Cadmus said quietly.
"No shit. Find them now. I nearly died out there." I banged my fork down. "Attempted murder of an Alpha? Where are the stolen goods?"
"We're tracking them as we speak."
"Good." I rolled my shoulders. "I could use some adrenaline rush after all this. But first, I need sleep. Wake me tomorrow unless it's life or death." I snatched my phone from his hands. "This stays with me. Get yourself a new one, seriously, what were you thinking?"
"Whatever you say, brother," he mumbled.
I stripped down to my boxers and collapsed onto the bed. As consciousness slipped away, one face filled my mind: Victoria.
My phone rang relentlessly, yanking me out of sleep. I groped for it, my voice laden with exhaustion. " What?"
"Drystan is here," Kara's urgent whisper came through. I bolted upright, suddenly wide awake.
"Where's Victoria?" I demanded.
"Standing there watching him. He's selecting rogues for his bedroom."
"That motherfucker," I growled. "Kara, don't you dare hang up…"
"He didn't even glance at her," Kara continued. "Choose one of her rivals and three others. Victoria's face is stone, but this will destroy her. I can barely watch."
I hit my fist into the mattress. Why would Drystan do this? Then it hit me: he was protecting her the only way he knew how, by pushing her away. Making sure she wouldn't return to the pack was a tactical move in his ongoing war.
"I have to go," Kara hissed. "She's heading my way, and Thane? She's furious. Beyond furious."
After she hung up, I exhaled slowly. What a mess. What would I have done in Drystan's position? Sacrifice our connection to keep her safe? Never. I'd rather keep her beside me, protected, always.
I couldn't stop looking at her picture, tracing my finger across her face on the screen like some lovesick teenager. The sharp knock at the door broke my trance.
Cadmus stood there with a wolfish grin. "We found the goods, brother. Time to have some fun."
"Now we're talking," I said, adrenaline already running through me. "My bike ready?"
He threw me the helmet. "Waiting downstairs."
I glanced down at my boxers and laughed. "Might need to put some clothes on first."
As I got dressed, I thought about the score, merchandise worth millions, all owned by the man who tried to have me killed. Taking it would hit him where it hurt. The idea of revenge felt good, but then Victoria’s face came to mind, and I had to stop and take a deep breath.
Kara followed her into the forest. When she left the cave, Kara went in. I convinced her to keep in touch with me in exchange for a place in the pack. I memorized her number, and she retained mine. Nothing will stop me. She’ll be in my arms again.
Makarius’s POVI stood there waiting for Hannah, but still thinking of Victoria, my first love. I had tried to make peace with myself for the years I roamed the lands, wounded by the mistakes I made. Victoria’s love still burned inside of me, an ache I kept buried as a secret treasure, even as I stepped into a new life with Hannah, my fated mate. Every step I take with Hannah now is shadowed by memories of Victoria. Guilt claws at me for holding onto the past when Hannah deserves all of me; I know she senses it sometimes, the pause in my eyes when Victoria is near. Still, I am torn. My loyalty is owed to Hannah, who loves me deeply, but my heart cannot fully let go of the woman who first claimed it.I watched Cadmus and how he looks at Victoria, like the world revolves around her. The only thing that puts me at ease is seeing that she is happy at last. If anyone deserves happiness, it is Victoria.Hannah started to walk towards me, and my heart skipped a beat. The bonding ceremony was
Thalia’s POVMakarius is my biological father, but for most of my life, he wasn't there for me. I grew up with Cadmus, my mother's mate, who raised me as his own and was always by my side. Makarius is working hard to get to know me better, but I still feel anger about being discarded. Makarius even blamed me for what happened to her, but it wasn't truly my fault, and he was under the influence of my grandmother's spells. Part of me wants to let him in and be the father he is supposed to be. Still, Cadmus will always be my first father, the one who held me, comforted me, and protected me. I will never love Makarius the same way I love Cadmus.Thalia, Lucien brought me back from my thoughts. Are you ready to talk to me?Yeah, let’s walk. What do you want to know?Everything, how you contain your gift… I don’t know yet how to do this. My gift lets me slip between worlds, like a door opened inside my mind, but I haven’t learned how to control where or when it happens. Sometimes I find mys
Cadmus’s POVShe teased me for a while, leaving me wanting more, then another girl came in. Her hands were touching my chest, and the masked woman was still licking my cock, and I was so fucking turned on. I wanted Victoria. The woman left her sheer top and her lace panties on; she teased the top of my cock over her panties.Oh hell, I’m going to go insane. Why am I so attracted to her? I grabbed her and pulled her on top of me.With my hands on her ass, I slid in and stopped. This feels familiar. I lifted her shirt and licked her nipple as the other girl was licking the other. I growled. What the fuck was in that drink? Her hips moved slowly, she took my hand and put it on the other girl's breast. Too big; I didn’t like it. My cock was about to explode, but she was enjoying it, and then she said my name more like whispered.Am I imagining Victoria? My guilt is playing tricks. My strokes were deep as I grabbed her hips possesively. Her body arched, and I bit gently on her nipple, my b
Cadmus’s POVGoing back to the Tatra pack, I felt at ease for the first time. The tension that always sat heavy on my shoulders loosened, as if the weight of past betrayals and endless caution had finally started to slip away. There was a strange warmth in my chest, a quiet certainty that we were all right, that we were safe together. Makarius, finding his mate finally, I got to trust him a little more. For so long, I'd watched him with suspicion, waiting for him to stumble or crumble, but now it was as if a small wall between us had quietly fallen. Thinking back on all this, it is amazing how far we have come. It took me so long to heal her wounds, her heart wounds. Seeing her beside me now, her hand holding mine tightly as she looked outside the window, made something unravel inside me—gratitude, relief, a sense of home I never thought I would feel again.Cadmus, she said, I feel old. I laugh at her sentence.Victoria, if you’re old, I’m ancient, and my love, we don’t age like the r
Cadmus’s POVVictoria’s bruises and cuts were healing perfectly fine. I watched her sleep peacefully, and I thought that I could not rest until that woman was dead. I had murderous thoughts, yeah, and would be the only punishment I could think of right now.I got up and went into the shower, my thoughts still scrambled. I need to figure out how to tell her I’m going hunting, can’t lie to her…the door opened, and Victoria stepped in.My love, I said, kissing her lips, trying to kill me, as my hands touched her beautiful body.Cadmus, I can hear you thinking, how about I take your mind off, she said, touching my already hard cock.I didn’t need to pursue more; my hands turned into an octopus on her, one between her legs, even though I smelled her arousal.Between the kisses, I asked her if she was sure; her arms were still healing. She only responded by touching me more, setting a fire inside of me. I lifted her as her legs wrapped around me and slammed into her hard. I missed her body
Cadmus’s POVVictoria was asleep on my shoulder as the driver was taking us back to the pack. Lucien, in the front seat, turned to me.Cadmus, let me know when you’re ready to hunt, and I will help you.Lucien, your mother wants to kill you. We need to keep you safe. Now, I’m curious about your abilities. Have you ever used it?I did not know I was capable of doing this. Maybe someone can help me.Thalia has similar abilities. Her guardian spirit, named Blue, appeared when she was little, but she still can’t control it. Guardian spirits are supernatural entities that connect with certain individuals, granting them unique powers and guidance, though learning to use these abilities takes time and practice.Maybe I should talk to her, Cadmus?Yes, I agree, maybe you have something in common. Victoria was making a groaning noise. My love, are you in pain? Of course, I knew she was. I pulled out a pill and placed it in her mouth, then gave her a bottle of water. I ran my hand over her face
His lips were touching mine. Hmmm, more, I said with my eyes closed.Makarius’s kisses grew deeper, hungry as his hands touching me—a great way to wake up. I wanted him so badly, like a need I never had before. Everything faded.Victoria, he whispered, “We need to take a shower and start the day.N
I jolted awake, crammed between Pirate and a stranger with muscles rippling under his torn shirt. My knees jammed against my chin, bones aching from hours in this position.Every time I drifted off, my head snapped forward and then crashed onto the stranger's shoulder. His warmth seeped through me.
"You did what?" Kara’s eyes locked onto me, wide with disbelief."Come on, Kara, you knew I would," I shot back. I held his penis in my hand.We both burst out laughing."Well, go on then, how does it feel?" she asked, grinning."Big. Like, how the hell is that supposed to fit in my…"Kara just sta
I jumped the fence just in time to brush my teeth and pull on the gray uniform. Life couldn’t get any more boring. Then the yells began. I grinned and gave Kara a quick wink.We got breakfast and took our usual seats. Sienna was there, scratching at her blisters until her skin looked raw.I dumped
