Ruthless.

That was what they called him in the ring. A demon through and through. Issac Knight was a notorious man in the underworld fighting ring for his barbaric cruelty and relentless attitude. His vicious smirk and those unique, deadly eyes had his opponents shivering in fear.

He fights in the ring to win, and he always does. Due to his link with the mafia, everyone was scared of him. A university student involved with the mafia was a hot topic for all the students, but he couldn't care less. He thrived in the fear he had unintentionally instilled in everyone. He was a dark, evil entity for them, and he boasts about it.

Issac was to take his father's empire once he completed his education. He was preparing to take over one day, so he was pursuing a business degree. His father wasn't aware of his involvement with the mafia, but his cousin-brothers did.

On the other hand, he also resembled a Greek God for his exquisite features. When not knocking out his opponents, he was always busy stealing the breath of women without even having to lift a finger. Owning a height of 6'2 and built like a brick wall of solid muscles with broad shoulders. Issac was a sight to behold. Apart from his godly features and looks, he had a dark aura around him. Intimidating and mysterious. This often comes in his favor because most women wouldn't bother him and admire him dreamily from afar, and well, for the dudes, they didn't want to mess with him because in the ring, they could come out alive, but out of the fighting ring, it was probably impossible. So, the best solution was to never mess with him in the first place. Wise were those who stayed miles away from him.

Once someone talked badly about Maddox, his cousin-brother, and tried to put him in trouble by sneaking drugs in his bag, Issac beat that guy to the brink of death as he begged for mercy and committed his crime. Issac was kept in jail that night, but he couldn't care less. He was out on bail within a few hours thanks to his mafia friend, but the pictures and videos of that incident spread in the university like wildfire, and he was called the deadly fighter.

Like any other night, he was heading to the parking lot when someone bumped into him. He heard a light groan and the thump of falling. He turned to find a girl on the floor with her books and bag scattered around her. His brows wrinkled in annoyance. Was she blind enough not to see him?

He was about to say something mean to her when he paused. His eyes darted to the three dudes dressed in hoodies and masks halting before him. Isaac's eyes narrowed when he recognized Henry. Issac stiffened when the girl jumped to her feet and grabbed his hand against his f*cking will. If that wasn't it, she hugged his arm to her chest, which was aggravating. He was about to push her when he noticed that Henry and his minions scrambled off.

He glanced down at the girl, only to pause for a second when their eyes met. For a couple of seconds, he was sucked into those icy blue eyes. They resembled the glaciers of icy oceans. So crystal clear and bright. He had never seen such magnificent eyes. He scrutinized her features; she had an innocent look to her. He met her eyes again and tugged at his hand.

Her eyes widened, and she abruptly let him go. He concluded that she wasn't aware of what she just did, so he quietly left from there, making sure Henry left, and he didn't give her a piece of his mind. He forgot why he was mad in the first place after seeing her eyes.

The next time he saw that same girl when he was in the parking lot, minding his business, he felt a gaze drilling holes in him. He glanced up and frowned when his eyes met those familiar icy eyes.

The girl was standing in the pathway and simply gawking at him pretty openly, which never happened before. People lower their gaze around him and look at her, staring at him so boldly.

What exactly did she want from him? She didn't seem interested in him. Or perhaps she was thankful that his presence saved her that night from Henry. Issac was aware that Henry bullied juniors of his department and always got away with it. The girl then abruptly looked away and trotted off.

What a weird girl...

His phone went off as he answered the call. It was about his next fight in the fighting ring next month.

Issac was accustomed to getting looks and people turning their heads in his direction. Plenty of women wanted to be with him, but he didn't want to date. It was such a hassle. He wasn't a gentleman, not by a far call. In simple words, he lacked what a girl wants in a relationship. Simple as that, and the dude was pretty comfortable with it and didn't want to change.

Imagine his surprise when Maddox came barging into his room inquiring about his girlfriend, as the news was making rounds in the university.

At first, he stared at him, dumbfounded. "What?"

"Don't act coy. You're dating a golden scholarship girl from the psychology department! You didn't bother to let us know! We are finding this news from someone else!" Maddox exaggerated, glaring at him.

Theodore stood in the doorframe, casually staring at him.

Theodore and Maddox were his cousin brothers. They both were twins, while Theodore was a few minutes older than Maddox, and the three of them lived together in the mansion near the university.

"It's pretty tough to score a golden scholarship in our academy," Theodore said, setting his spectacles on the bridge of his nose.

"What the f*ck are you both spouting?" He grumbled. Issac was taking a sweet nap before Maddox barged in like a thunderstorm and disturbed his peace.

"So, this is how it is," Maddox narrowed his eyes suspiciously, scanning Issac's room for anything feminine. But he didn't recall him bringing girls into the mansion ever.

"I thought you didn't like dating," Theodore said.

"Look, who's talking? Who probably never even got his first kiss," Issac tossed a pillow at Theodore, who caught it with ease.

"Then explain yourself. How come you're dating?" Maddox asked.

"I'm not dating! What the f*ck are you on about?"

"Very well, keep pretending. I'll confront you with evidence next time," Maddox said, charging out of the room. Theodore threw the pillow back at him and left while he screamed at them to close the f*cking door.

In the next week, he was annoyed by all the gossiping around him. He wasn't deaf. He could hear them whispering that he was dating.

He was sure he'd end up bruising the person who spread these fake rumors.

They were invited to a party at the club, and he wasn't interested even a little bit, but Maddox dragged him along with Thoe. Everyone was dancing, and it was too noisy in there, so he stepped out for a smoke.

He barely smoked half of his cigarette while staring at the blue inky sky glimmering with stars when the back door to the far end opened, and a girl met his eyes before she took off in his direction.

She stumbled, and his arms moved on their own as he grabbed her. She was small.

He was too stunned to speak. It was the same weird girl with pretty eyes. All it took was a couple of seconds for him to put two and two together at her request to pretend to be his boyfriend. She might've noticed that Henry was scared of him at their first encounter, and she must've used it to her advantage to escape Henry's bullying, which was an excellent tactic.

They locked their eyes. Her eyes had this rare enigma of pulling him into a trance that he had to force his eyes from her and glance at Henry and his minions.

This f*cker again... It seemed like Henry didn't believe her. So, Issac played along with her. He won't deny it, but it was exciting when she shivered in his arms, thinking he was about to kiss her. He let his hand move up her nape to her scalp, feeling her silky locks, as he yanked her head back. A sweet gasp escaped her plump, parted lips.

She was so docile and scared as her eyes broadened. He was supposed to stop inches away from her; he felt a light push in his chest, but that didn't stop him. He was in a daze, for a fleeting second, he clamped his eyes on her lips, only to find them trembling.

Issac paused when their lips grazed. A sense of ecstasy spread through his veins, which was astounding because he had never felt like this before. He pulled back quickly, letting go of her.

He scared off Henry and his goons and watched the flustered girl in a nervous wreck in front of him. She was fidgeting with her fingers and shifting her weight from one foot to another while avoiding his eyes.

He confronted her about the rumors, and she was a mumbling mess. In their first two encounters, she'd look him dead in the eyes, which gave him enough time to memorize the depths of her eyes, but he didn't like her avoiding his gaze.

She explained everything, and it was exactly what he predicted it to be. The girl was innocent and pretty. Henry was being a d*ck to her, and she now thinks of Issac as her savior.

He asked if she knew him, and she did know his name, and that was all about it. The girl knew nothing else about Issac. This explains why she wasn't running for the hills after meeting him. So, he let her think of him whatever she wanted.

A gentleman. Which he wasn't. Not at all. A knight in shining armor? He was more like a grim reaper.

He was planning to walk away from there, but the little encounter was fun. Her expressions were entertaining. So, it was a decision made in a flick of a second. He decided to be her fake boyfriend. The naive girl even gave him her number. Too easy. Naive. Beautiful.

He escorted her back to the club and left her with her friends.

Issac got to bed as he opened his I*******m and searched Innessa Laskin in the search bar. He clicked on the seventh profile, and it was hers. She was in a blue shirt, her hair up in a ponytail, and she was beaming at the camera, her eyes bright like a star in her profile picture. To his dismay, her profile was private.

He dropped her a text to meet him in the parking lot tomorrow.

Resting his arm under his head, he stared at nothingness. His room was pitch dark. Issac couldn't sleep when there was even the slightest of light in the room.

He was just helping her out and was doing so because it seemed like fun. Especially her expressions. With those thoughts, he drifted off to darkness.

Issac was waiting for her in his car when he saw her approaching. She was wearing high-waist jeans with a white shirt. Her hair was up in a ponytail. She was heading to the parking lot when a guy blocked her way.

They talked. She smiled at him, and the dude even bowed to her. Isaac's eyes narrowed. The guy was smiling a lot; maybe he was bothering her. Issac walked over to them. He rested his arm on her shoulder and kissed her temple. He shouldn't have done that, but he did.

The guy got the cue that she was taken, but perhaps he wasn't bothering her to begin with. She introduced Archie to him, and Issac scrutinized him and said a few things until he walked off.

"Who is he?" Issac asked. He had no right to ask such a question, but he wanted to.

She dismissed him politely, and he let it go. He held her hand. It was so small and soft as he guided her to his car.

They talked.

More like he talked, and she listened like an innocent dove.

He explained his plan for their fake dating. She looked nervous when he mentioned other couple stuff. Her eyes were like a mirror to her soul, and surely Innessa wasn't thinking about anything pure by the rosy blush on her cheeks.

He couldn't hide his smirk anymore. He whispered something stupid, but luckily, she didn't hear it.

And if that wasn't enough, he murmured something blasphemous again, and she didn't hear that either. What a save!

She smelled so divine, like blooming gardenia flowers that he couldn't help but inhale her scent.

He wasn't intending to, but he ended up asking her out on a f*cking date. Though it was fake, he never went on a date, even if it was real.

It was all because she was so pretty and exuded such purity that the darkness in him wanted to f*cking corrupt her.

The reinforced doors of the armored limousine had barely clicked shut, sealing them away from the flashing lights and suffocating noise of the grand hall, before the air inside the cabin turned volatile.Victor couldn't take his eyes off her.Throughout the entire evening, as he stood at the apex of underworld power, his mind hadn't registered a single territory report or political alliance. His focus had been entirely reduced to the girl sitting beside him. He had watched the way the crystal chandeliers caught the deep midnight-blue of her dress, the way the brutal men of his syndicate bowed their heads to her, and most of all, the way the dark, violent marks of his possession stayed proudly on display against her pale throat. It had driven him sinisterly feral. The hunger clawing at his gut wasn't just desire anymore; it was a rabid, primal obsession that demanded total consumption. He wanted to devour her. He wanted to rip the silk from her body and remind her, over and over, exact

For the past two days, life felt so sweet and calming. She couldn't stop thinking about how nice Victor was with her sister and how much she enjoyed spending time with her. On her way back, she had thanked him, and he had passed her a small smile. It was a progress in whatever their relationship was.The heavy glass doors of the massive walk-in closet clicked open with a quiet, expensive sound. Serena stood in the center of the plush dressing room, her bare feet sinking into the thick white carpet. Her skin was still warm from a long, steaming shower, and the sweet fragrance of vanilla body lotion drifted through the air.On the velvet chaise lounge in the center of the room sat a massive, sleek garment bag. Beside it was a velvet box.She walked over to it, her heart thumping softly against her ribs. Serena unzipped the bag, and a soft gasp left her lips. Inside was a stunning, midnight-blue silk gown. It was a masterpiece of elite tailoring; the fabric felt like liquid ice under her

The heavy, armored SUV rolled smoothly through the private gates of the secluded estate, the tires crunching over the pristine gravel. Serena’s hands were tightly clenched in her lap, her knuckles turning white from sheer anticipation. Her heart was beating a frantic rhythm against her ribs. For months, she was away from her sister. They do get to call and talk, but that was it. She wanted to visit her sooner, but things happened. But today, the heavy fog of anxiety was finally lifting.Sitting right beside her in the dim, tinted cabin was Victor. His massive frame leaned back against the leather seat, his icy blue eyes fixed on the window, his expression a mask of cold, unreadable stone. He looked every bit the brutal Pakhan who ruled the city with an iron fist, yet he was the one who had made this moment possible. The SUV came to a halt in front of a sprawling, elegant mansion nestled deep within the highly secured Moretti territory. The doors clicked open, and the moment Serena ste

The golden morning sun cut sharply through the sheer perimeter of the balcony curtains, slicing across the dark expanses of Victor’s master suite. Serena opened her eyes slowly, her mind hazy, heavy, and completely disoriented. The first thing she felt was the smooth, cool slip of silk against her bare thighs, the oversized black button-down shirt that belonged to her husband. The second thing she felt was a crushing, unyielding weight anchored heavily across her waist.A massive, calloused hand was splayed flat over her stomach, trapping her securely against a wall of solid, radiating muscle. The immediate spike of panic hit her, a hard, instinctual jolt that made her breath catch in her throat. She was in his bed. She was trapped in the lion’s den, surrounded by the heavy masculine scent of sandalwood, leather, and winter rain. Her heart started to hammer against her ribs, but as she stared at his muscular arm wrapped around her, the panic morphed into something entirely different.

The silence inside the master suite of the Volkov estate was absolute, broken only by the rhythmic, delicate rise and fall of the breath against his chest. Outside, a heavy summer rain beat a steady, muted rhythm against the reinforced glass windows, blurring the lights of the sprawling estate into distant, watery smudges. But inside the dark bedroom, the world had shrunk down to the heavy mattress, the scent of expensive sandalwood mixed with sweet vanilla, and the fragile girl curled securely against his side.Victor lay wide awake, his icy blue eyes fixed on the shadowed ceiling plaster above. He didn't move. He barely even breathed, hyper-aware of the small, warm weight of Serena pressed flat against his rigid torso. They had spent an hour in a brutal, breathtaking collision. He had kissed her until her resistance broke, until her stubborn defenses crumbled into liquid heat, and her soft, full lips were completely swollen and flushed a deep, bruised crimson. By the time the storm

The weight of Victor’s words hung in the damp air of the master bedroom, heavy, absolute, and terrifyingly logical. Serena stayed frozen against the cold wall, her wrists still pinned high above her head by his single, massive hand. Her chest heaved against his, the soaking wet silk of her nightgown translucent and cold against her skin, yet she was burning from the inside out.The realization that Victor hadn’t ordered the attack didn’t break her heart over Roberto’s betrayal. It couldn't. Her father and his men had never been kind to her; they had always been cruel, treating her like an object rather than a daughter. Roberto lying to her wasn't a shocking tragedy; it was just typical Moretti behavior. It simply means her father didn't want her to be civil with Victor. He didn't want peace. He wanted total, destructive chaos, and he had happily weaponized her trauma just to twist her mind against the Russians. And she thought maybe... just maybe because she was their blood, they won'

The heat in the indoor pool room had reached a boiling point. The water around them felt warm, but the raw, unadulterated desire burning between their bodies was completely scorching. Serena couldn’t move. She couldn’t think. Her small hands were still locked tightly around Victor’s neck, her finge

Her brows furrowed, and she glitched for a second. "Excuse me?" She said curtly."Excused." He said calmly, quietly eating his steak as if nothing had happened. Her lips parted at his audacity, and she glared at him."You're good at what precisely? And what's the provoking part?" She asked, her eye

The silence that followed Serena’s "No" was not merely a lack of sound; it was a physical weight, a crushing atmosphere that seemed to suck the oxygen from the vast, industrial hall. It was the sound of an empire cracking, the sound of a death warrant being signed in the space of a single breath.T

The final forty-eight hours of Serena Moretti’s freedom were a feverish dream of desperate joy and suffocating sorrow.
