Chapter 2: First Hours Under Aero

Elara took a deep breath as she pushed open the glass doors to the thirty-second floor of Aero Industries. The scent of polished wood and fine leather greeted her like an invisible signal: everything here was different.

Every step echoed against the gleaming marble floor, and the perfect lines of the office seemed almost suffocating in their precision. She tightened her grip on the folder in her hands, as if reminding herself why she was here in the first place.

“Ms. Voss?”

The voice was calm. Clear. Controlled.

Aero stood inside his office, dressed in a flawless dark suit, his broad shoulders straight and imposing. His presence alone seemed powerful enough to make the room feel smaller the moment he entered it.

Elara froze for half a second.

You can do this. You’re here to work, not stand there like an idiot.

“Good morning, Mr. Aero,” she said, trying to sound calmer than she felt.

Her voice came out lighter than expected.

He gave a short nod. “Sit down. I’d like to go over today’s priorities.”

Elara sat carefully, her knees pressed together, the folder resting on her lap. A faint tremor ran through her, but she forced herself to sit straight, shoulders back, eyes focused on him.

Even within those first few seconds, she noticed something about Aero: every movement was deliberate. No wasted words. No meaningless gestures. Everything about him carried weight.

“Today you’ll learn the basics of my schedule, the most important contacts, and some of the responsibilities you’ll be handling,” he began, his tone even but commanding. “I expect precision, Ms. Voss. No excuses.”

Elara nodded immediately.

Of course. No mistakes.

One step at a time.

She opened her folder, ready to write down everything, memorize everything.

The first hours passed in a focused blur of tasks, office tours, and brief introductions.

Elara was shown through the different departments: accounting, marketing, design, legal. Every employee carried themselves with a confidence that both impressed and intimidated her.

Every now and then, Aero glanced at her.

Not staring.

Assessing.

As if he registered every movement she made, every tiny reaction.

A strange tension tightened in her stomach — part nervousness, part respect, and something else she couldn’t explain.

With every task she completed, she paid obsessive attention to detail. The smallest mistake on a document or screen could determine whether she kept this job or lost it.

Aero rarely spoke, but when he did, his words carried a sharp clarity that left no room for argument.

You can do this. Focus on the work.

At noon, Aero led her to the company cafeteria.

The room was bright, lined with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city below. Sunlight reflected across the water of the fountain outside, while the sounds of traffic seemed distant from up here.

Elara sat across from him, her folder still beside her, ready to take notes if necessary.

“Ms. Voss,” Aero began while taking a sip of coffee, “I don’t expect you to simply complete tasks. I expect you to think ahead.”

Elara nodded eagerly. “Yes, Mr. Aero. I understand.”

“Good.”

He leaned back slightly, his hands resting on the table. His gaze drifted briefly through the cafeteria before settling on her again.

“Every movement matters here. Every decision. Every action.”

She swallowed hard.

What she felt around him was more than ordinary respect. It was a confusing mix of nervousness and a strange pull she didn’t understand.

She had the unsettling feeling that she couldn’t escape him.

And perhaps…

Part of her didn’t want to.

That afternoon, Elara received her first independent assignment: preparing an urgent report for a meeting Aero would lead in less than an hour.

She sat at her desk, opened the files, and immediately got to work.

Focus.

Precision.

Every detail mattered.

As she typed, she noticed Aero occasionally watching her from the corner of his eye.

No comments. No interruptions.

Just presence.

And somehow, that was worse.

She could feel him noticing everything — every movement, every glance, every hesitation.

How can someone radiate so much power just by existing? she wondered silently.

She forced herself to push the thought aside.

Every minute counted.

Every mistake mattered.

As the afternoon continued, Elara learned to organize documents faster, prepare notes more efficiently, and identify the company’s most important contacts almost instinctively.

To her surprise, she realized she was adapting quickly.

She was focused.

Organized.

Almost confident.

Even if inside, she still felt nervous every second.

Occasionally, Aero would step beside her desk and review her work.

Sometimes he gave short remarks.

“Efficient. Good.”

Or:

“That could have been faster.”

Never too much. Never too little.

Every word, every gesture seemed designed to test her, shape her, push her without ever directly saying so.

And between the endless tasks, she kept feeling that subtle pull in her chest — a tension she couldn’t explain.

It wasn’t fear.

Not exactly.

It was something else entirely.

A strange mixture of fascination, respect, and an attraction she couldn’t quite grasp.

By the end of the day, Elara sat exhausted at her desk.

The report was finished. The emails sorted. Everything checked twice.

She leaned back for a moment and took a slow breath as she looked around the office.

The windows.

The quiet hum of computers.

The distant sounds of the city below.

Already, it felt like this place was becoming part of her life.

Aero watched her one final time before leaving the office.

No smile.

Just a small nod.

But somehow, that nod alone was enough to make her heart beat faster.

She knew this was only the beginning.

The man standing before her was not simply her boss.

He was someone whose influence she would feel constantly — someone whose power both intimidated and fascinated her in equal measure.

Elara leaned back slowly, thoughts swirling, heart pounding.

She had survived her first day.

And she was ready to face whatever came next.

Because one thing was already painfully clear:

This office, this job… and this man were going to change her life forever.

And she would never again be the same woman she had been yesterday.
