LOGINCassius pov
Still in my night buttonless robe, the men carried out the bitches I had fun with last night,Kendal walked into my bedroom about to display her usual madness.
“Cassius,how could you?”
“How could you kill them with your uncontrollable rut?” I stared at her fascinated.
As I thought, when did she start caring about that?
“You couldn't even get your manhood to behave”
“Day in, day out, when you're not in battle you tend to make sleeping around your best hobby huh?” her eyes red showing pure jealousy.
Kendal and I go way back since we were kids as our parents rule the clan with wisdom and we were betrothed.
She's always so clingy and immature.
I've lost interest in marriage but I have to marry her to keep the throne.
“I never said anything when you were doing yours, and you said you couldn't handle my sexual desire” I countered.
“Well at least I did it in secret you moron”
“You fuck them and kill them right here in the palace”
“And you call yourself the Alpha”
“Worst part is that your father, the only one who could control you is dead”
“Don't you dare mention my father”
Those were slaves bought as a result of the wars between the pack and those evil clans. She may sound considerate but I know how happy she is that they died. She knows we can't really be together that's why she has sworn and gone extra miles that no one would have me.
“Enough Kendal get the fuck outta here” I said pissed off.
“Oh no please” She faked a cry.
“What are you going to do huh”
“Send me to the dungeon, beat me to death or send me to rot on the battlefield like the way you to the others, huh?”
“Funny enough, you can't do that to your fiancee” she cackled.
“Guards,take her away”
“Never let her in here”
“If this repeats itself, y'all will meet your doom” I growled angrily.
“Don't you lay those filthy hands on me,you incompetent fools”
“I was about to leave anyway,” she said, dusting off the imaginary speckles before leaving.
Finally, I can have solace in my sleep.
“Alpha, the Beta wants to see you”
Just then,my attendance walked to announce his arrival.
“Let him in”
He is my confidant and the only person I trust.
“Tell me something that can take my mind off the crap that Kendal just displayed”I said, undressing to take my bath.
“As we celebrate the victories you've won,I brought you a gift”
“This one looks ravaging, my Lord”
“And you'll be so surprised by her identity” I turned to look at him with a sharp gaze.
“Who's she?”
“She's the heiress of the Black Moon werewolves former alpha, your greatest rival”
“How come Massimus? How is it possible” I paused, perplexed.
“How did my enemy's daughter fall so easily to my hands”,I was shocked as I knew the odds surrounding it.
“Well she was sold by the current Alpha, she just got married to him.One funny twist was that her father chose him to take over the pack”
“Hmm Kent let his guard down one sec and this happened, this is so satisfying” I chuckled.
“Bring-” I said as my middle man started getting ready for action.
“You gotta hold yourself, unless this stupid habit of yours will be your doom soon” My Dragon cut me short.
Yes, my Dragon spirit hovers around me.
It is more like the little conscience left in me.
“Why do you always have to ruin the fun?” I said painstakingly.
“A large sheet load awaits you out there, attend to them and then fuck her later” I growled.
“Sir,what should I do?” He called my attention standing there confused.
“Read my schedule”
“Okay sir”
The maidens normally take my bath but I stopped them since they started to irritate me.
“ Meeting with the war council first thing, inspection of the armoury…..
And a meeting with the elders” He finished reading from the tab.
“Sir what about the-”
“Later, Massimus. Go,get me all the files related to the first meeting from my study and place them, you know where they need to be. Now leave”
“Okay boss”I said, going to the bathroom.
As the water hit me, I felt a cool sensation. I wonder how she looks.
“She'll look just like the others” My annoyingly said.
I got out of the shower, dressed up and brushed my blonde hair and stepped out.
The meeting with the war cabinet wasn't what I expected. Those in attendance were supposed to be familiar with the way we run things.
The war between the Dragons and werewolves is drawing near.
They just rattled on the armoury aspects, what about the formation on the battlefield. I know they are not soldiers but they should know better.
I called my counsellor, whispered a few things to him to which he nodded.
I left with Massimus. I got a shit load of things to do.
‘like fucking the heiress’ my wolf annoyingly shipped in.
I sighed helplessly.
I've been thinking about this girl that I've never even met. This is so absurd.
Who does she think she is? What is she doing to me? If she was part of the pack, I would tap into the link to hear her voice but she isn't.
“Sir we're here” I looked out to see we've arrived at the Records department.
Ever since my father died I’m the only one I've got. That's why I'm known as the most ruthless Alpha.I and my father were really close;I made sure I learnt everything I could from him.
When he died, it took a part of me. Till now no one knows how he died. It's been five years.
They said he died of a heart attack when I got back from one of my assignments.
I was never there when he died but I get nightmares where he takes his last breath, those crystal eyes of his turns blood shot and stares back at me.
That's why I'm investigating secretly. I've crosschecked and tried but I keep on returning to the same end. It's like the master mind blocked every loophole.
I'm very sure that the perpetrators, which are more than one, were very close to my father.
When I get a hold of them, I'll make sure to scrape every part of their bodies to the last bone.
Wiping my body with the towel,I got out of the tub.
Wearing my night robe,I took a drink and settled down lifting the cigarette.
“Bring her in,” I said through the phone.
I sipped the drink trying to calm my nerves.
The moment she stepped into the room, my control snapped
There is something about her.
That keeps drawing me near her.
So Intoxicating.
This sounds strange, I've never felt this way around anyone before. Like the feeling that we are connected.
“What's your name?” I was more surprised than she was. At least even though she dies after this,I will remember her name.
“Emerald” Her voice is gentle but angelic.
“ I am the absolute authority in this pack.”
“You must submit to me unless the Punishments are swift and brutal.”
I said it to prove a point and let her know that I'm in charge.
She shivered violently beneath the thin fabric wrapped around her body, her frightened eyes refusing to meet mine.
She looked weak. Too weak.
Her cheeks were slightly hollow, and the bruises scattered across her pale skin made it obvious she had not been treated well before arriving here.
Yet despite her miserable appearance, there was still something strangely captivating about her.
Maybe it was the stubborn fire hidden beneath her fear… or the way her beauty remained impossible to ignore even in such a broken state.
Like something precious dragged through ruin but never completely destroyed.
It wasn’t her face. It wasn’t her voice.
But her scent.
Heat like wildfire on dry grass
It hit the back of my throat and dragged me under.
My wolf stirred, it became low and furious, clawing at my ribs.
Mine.
I must make her mine now.
“Strip now”She stared back at me in awe.
Her subtle umbrella lips.
It was perfectly endowed.
I told myself to step back.
To try and speak.
To remember for once why this whole thing was wrong.
Even though it's not my first time.
My body didn’t listen.
I slowly dragged her to the bed.
Before I knew it, my hands were on her arms, and I was breathing her in like I’d been starved for air. Her pulse jumped under my fingers. She smelled afraid. But I didn’t pull away.
“Don’t,” I heard myself say. It came out rough, broken.
“What are you doing to me,Emee?”
“Hmm” confused at my question.
But my mouth was already closer, chasing the spot on her neck where her scent was the strongest.
The world narrowed to her.
To the way her breath hitched when my forehead pressed against hers.
Everything else—my pride and ego, the war, the fact that I should hate her all melted away.
That she's only a mere slave bought by my men .
It all burned away.
As I wrapped my arms around her,she shuddered more and hiccuped.
Where are all this emotions coming from
When I'm done with her, she'll be breathless let alone recover as no one has ever made it alive.
I hugged her so tight like she was my life jacket.
I then proceeded to pound into her gently not to break her.
After that, there was only heat, and the sound of her name tearing out of my throat like a confession I couldn’t take back.
*Fades to black*
Somewhere in Grandville.
The room was silent except for the crackling sound of fire burning inside the massive stone fireplace.
Dark wooden walls surrounded the space, illuminated only by dim candlelight that cast long shadows across the floor. The entire place felt cold despite the warmth of the fire, carrying the suffocating tension of a predator’s den.
The woman trembled as she knelt before the man seated across from her.
He sat lazily on the black leather chair, one hand resting against his jaw while his dark eyes stared down at her without emotion.
Everything about him felt terrifying.
From the deep scar running across his neck to the dangerous calmness in his expression, he looked less like a man and more like something capable of destroying lives within seconds.
“Did you mix his tea well?”
“Yes I did,my Lord”the maid lowered her head immediately.
“With the right proportions I gave you?”
“Yes my Lord”
“At the supposed time?”
“Yes my Lord, I did everything you instructed me to do” She replied shakingly.
For a moment, silence filled the room again.
Then the man slowly smiled.
A cold smile that made the woman’s entire body shiver in fear.
“If I find out that all this time you never followed my commands,I will cease all the benefits you've been enjoying, make sure you watch your family die a gruesom
e death before killing you” He said mercilessly as he stood up to grab a knife.
“Please,my Lord, please” She pleaded for her dear life.
By the time I'm done with you, you'll never go against me” He then sliced her skin to serve as a mark for her to always remember.
Emerald POVThe servants' hall is crowded.I do not know why I came here. Rina told me to stay in my room. She told me it was not safe. But I am tired of hiding. So I walk down the corridor. Past the kitchens. Past the pantries. Past the servants who stare at me like I am a ghost.I am not a ghost.I am not a slave either.I am something in between. Something they do not understand."You."I freeze.Kendal stands at the end of the hall. Her guards flank her. Her smile is sharp as a blade."Well, well," she says. "The little wolf comes out of her den.""I am not a wolf.""No. You are less than a wolf. A mongrel. A stray. Something Cassius picked up off the street."I say nothing. She walks toward me. Her heels click against the stone floor. The servants scatter like leaves in the wind. No one wants to be near her when she is like this."Did you think I would forget?" she asks."Forget what?""That you took him from me.""I did not take anyone.""You breathed. You existed. That was enou
Cassius POVI am in the throne room when she arrives. The doors slam open.I do not turn around. I already know who it is. I can smell her perfume from across the room. Heavy. Cloying. Like flowers left in the sun too long.Kendal.She storms in like a hurricane. Her heels click against the stone floor. Her skirts swish. Her guards scramble to keep up."You," she says.I turn. She stands in the middle of the room. Her face is red. Her eyes are wild. Her hands are clenched at her sides. She is furious.Good."Good morning, Kendal," I say."Do not good morning me.""Then what would you prefer? Good afternoon? It is not afternoon yet.""Do not mock me.""I am not mocking. I am asking a question."She stalks toward me. Her guards hang back. They know better than to get between us when she is like this."I heard about the slave," she says."Which slave?""Do not play dumb with me. The werewolf. The one in your bed. The one you assigned a personal guard to.""I have many slaves.""I am talk
Emerald POVThree days pass.Three days of Rina shadowing my every step. Three days of the same four walls. Three days of staring out the window at mountains I cannot reach.I am going insane. Not the dramatic kind of insane. Not the screaming, crying, throwing things kind. The quiet kind. The kind where you sit in silence for so long that you forget what your own voice sounds like.Rina does not talk much. She stands by the door like a statue. She watches me eat. She watches me sleep. She watches me stare at the ceiling for hours.I should hate her.But I do not.She is just doing her job. And her job is keeping me alive.Even if I am not sure I want to be alive anymore. The knock comes at noon. Not Rina's knock. She does not knock. She just walks in.This knock is soft. Hesitant. Like the person on the other side is afraid of being yelled at."Come in," I say.The door opens.A maid stands there. Young. Younger than me. Her hands grip a silver tray so tight her knuckles are white."M
Emerald POVThe sun rises. I do not.I have been sitting on the edge of my bed since they dragged me back inside. My knees still ache from hitting the stone floor. My wrists still burn where the guards grabbed me.But worse than the pain is the shame.I tried to escape. And I failed. Now everyone knows. The guards. The servants. Him.Especially him.I press the heels of my palms against my eyes. The darkness behind my lids is kinder than the sunlight creeping through the window. What am I going to do?The lock clicks.I look up.Cassius walks in. No knock. No announcement. Just his boots on my floor and his shadow on my wall.He is alone. No guards. No Massimus. Just him.I stand. My legs are weak. I do not sit back down. I will not look weak in front of him."Good morning," he says."Is it?""I slept well.""I do not care how you slept."He walks to the window. Opens the curtains. Sunlight floods the room. I squint. My eyes burn."You tried to escape last night," he says."You alread
Emerald POVThe castle sleeps. But I do not.I lie in bed for hours, staring at the ceiling, listening to the silence. The guards outside my door shift their weight every few minutes. Boots scraping against stone. Armor clinking. They are tired. Bored. Not paying attention.Good.I wait until the hallway goes completely quiet. Until the only sound is the wind rattling the windows and my own heart pounding in my chest. Then I move. The window is my only chance. The door has two guards. The hallway has more. But the window overlooks the east garden. If I can climb down, drop into the bushes, I can reach the outer wall. From there, the forest.I do not know what comes after the forest. But anything is better than here.I pull on my darkest dress. Tie my hair back. Stuff a small bag with bread and a bottle of water. Then I open the window.Cold air rushes in. It smells like rain. Like freedom.I look down. The drop is farther than I thought. Much farther.Do not look down. Just move.I swi
Cassius POVThe war room smells like old paper and older men.I sit at the head of the table. My counselors sit on both sides. The Grand Adviser sits at the opposite end. His face is smooth. Calm. Like still water hiding sharp rocks beneath.I do not trust him.But I cannot prove anything yet."Let us begin," I say.The room goes quiet.Elder Octavia speaks first. She is old. Older than my father would have been. Her voice is dry like autumn leaves."The werewolves are gathering at the border," she says. "Three packs. Maybe four. They are preparing for something.""Preparing for what?" I ask."War, my Lord. What else?"I lean back in my chair. Stare at the map spread across the table. Little wooden figures mark troop positions. Blue for us. Red for them.Too much red."How many soldiers?" I ask."Fifteen thousand. Maybe more.""And how many do we have?""Twelve thousand ready. Eight thousand in training.""Then we are outnumbered.""For now."The Grand Adviser clears his throat.Every
