Chapter 6: Luna.

Becky's POV

“ You can't force me into marring you and being your mate. In case you didn't know or your mindset is still stuck in the eighteen or nineteen hundreds, we're already in the morden day era and shit like that isn't common anymore.” I said, glaring at him.

" For someone who rejects me, you're speaking quite comfortably with me.” Hunter said with a slight smirk.

I stopped my pacing and turned to face him. Thank the moon goddess that dad's study was sound proof otherwise the moment I stepped out a painful slap on the back awaits me because I know everyone eagerly wants to know why I rejected the Alpha king in front of everyone and almost immediately dragged him into my Dad's study.

I stared at him in silence as I walked towards my dad's chair and say on it, straighting my posture on the chair, my brain unable to think of a suitable response. So I sat like a diva crossing my legs on the table.

Haunter's gaze fell on my legs before looking back at my face. “Why all of a sudden so quiet, mate."

“Don't call me that." I snapped before I could think. “You don't deserve to call me that."

“Why? But both my wolf and I have recognized you as our mate."

“Funny." I said sarcastically. “I may think about accepting your wolf, but you…hell to the no.” I said crossing my arms around my chest as I sunk deeper in to the chair.

“My wolf and I are one, so you accept him, you've accepted me and that's fine by me…”

I pushed myself up from the chair, " I said might! That doesn't mean I've accepted him…or you.” I said, cutting him off.

Anyone who dares to cut the Alpha king off while he was talking got severe punishment but, here I am without a care in the world constantly cutting him off like it was my job. Seriously, I might actually get myself into deep shit if I continue but why is he so annoying and always spitting out words to piss me off.

" Might, have, same thing. I'll give you a week to move in with me. “

" I refuse." I stubbornly said as I shut my eyes and was about to sit back down.

A gust of wind blew past my face, as fast as it came was as fast as it left. I snapped my eyes open and Haunter was standing in front of me, his huge body overing mine as his silver gray eyes bored into mine like the predator he was, staring at his prey.

Adrenalin ran through my body as I lost balance and fell back. But I was caught by a strong arm that wrapped itself around my waist.

I glance at his arm wrapped around my waist. The shirt sleeve was unbuttoned and pulled to his elbow. His veins popped out like roots beneath his skin, thick and tense with restrained strength. His grip wasn’t tight, but it was firm—possessive in a way that made my heart thunder in my chest.

“Let go of me,” I muttered, trying to ignore the heat radiating from where his skin touched mine.

He didn’t. Of course he didn’t.

Instead, he leaned closer. His face inches from mine, his silver-gray eyes locked on mine like I was some puzzle he couldn’t quite solve. His breath brushed across my cheek, warm and maddening. I could feel the sharp contrast like it was between the cool night air and the heat boiling off his body.

“You don’t get to refuse me,” he said quietly, but every word felt like a command threaded with something ancient—something that tugged at the part of me I still didn’t fully understand.

My pulse jumped. “I can refuse you,” I snapped, but my voice betrayed me. It trembled, unsure if it wanted to fight or fold.

Curse this stupid mate bond…but it should have been served the time he rejected me so why do I fell attracted to him like the stupid mate bond would make me feel.

His lips twitched. Not a smile but more like a warning disguised as amusement. “You can pretend, Becky. But we both know what’s waking inside you. You feel it, don’t you? And you're mine.

I did, but I would never admit it. Not to myself, not to anyone and certainly not to him.

I pushed against his chest, but he didn’t budge. His body was solid, unmoving, as if the wind itself couldn’t dare to shift him. My hands curled into fists against the soft fabric of his shirt, frustration burning under my skin.

“You think just because you know what I am, you own me?” I spat.

“Yes,” he said, voice low, but filled with that same damn certainty he always carried. “And the truth owns you now. Whether you’re ready for it or not.”

I pushed him with force as I started back, the chair falling back, almost tripping me but I caught myself and swiftly avoided his touch again.

Seriously, this guy is built like a rock. An annoying rock at that.

I glared at haunter and a hint if hurt and panic flashed through his eyes before it finished just as fast as it came. He straightened himself and stared at me with indifference before walking towards the door.

“I'll inform your family that you're moving in with me in a week. Be ready. " He said before walking out.

What the hell is wrong with this dude's brain? What part of I want nothing to do with him doesn't he get.

“Why you…!” I held my tongue as my mom, dad and brothers confused and curious faces came into view as the door opened.

I will never stop hearing about this for the time I'll be here. I just know it. Someone, anyone, help!

My entire family followed the Alpha king towards the living room and everyone began gathering round him.

“ As you all have witnessed earlier, Becky Hart is indeed my mate and your future Luna. So I would appreciate it if you all treated her as one." Haunter said, his voice booming with authority.

Fuck my life. This wasn't what I was expecting when I thought of coming back.

****

I don't know how to explain what happened.

One second, I was standing in the forest clearing, breath fogging in the cold night air, heart pounding from the run I didn’t remember starting. The next… everything stopped. The wind, the rustling trees, even the buzzing in my ears—gone. Replaced by a silence so heavy, it felt sacred.

The moon hung above me like a silver eye, unblinking, massive. I had always felt something when I looked at it—like it was looking back—but tonight, that connection felt alive. Real. Ancient.

My fingertips tingled. I glanced down and nearly stumbled back. Pale light shimmered across my skin, dancing in waves along my veins like liquid starlight. It was soft but powerful, pulsing in rhythm with my heartbeat. I held up my hand, and the light responded, glowing brighter, threads of silver trailing upward like smoke.

“What the hell…” I whispered, but the sound died in my throat.

And then I heard it—not with my ears, but inside. A voice, or maybe a memory, curling through my mind like a forgotten lullaby.

You were never just human, child of night. You’ve only been asleep.

The pressure in my chest built until it felt like my ribs would crack open. I dropped to my knees, gasping. But the pain wasn’t pain. It was… release. Like something locked away deep inside me had broken free.

Images flashed behind my eyes. A woman cloaked in silver robes, her eyes glowing with the same light now bleeding from my skin. A temple beneath a violet sky. A war. A sacrifice. A promise made under the stars.

I was her.

Or a fragment of her. The moon goddess. Reborn.

A chill traced my spine, not from fear, but awe. I wasn’t just some lost girl with half-forgotten dreams and an aching heart. There was power in me—ancient, celestial, divine. It had always been there, buried beneath layers of doubt and silence. But now? It was awake.

I raised my hand again, and the moonlight bent, obeying me. It curved through the air in graceful arcs, wrapping around my arms like a lover’s embrace. I could feel the energy humming through the earth beneath my feet, through the stars above me. I was connected—to everything.

Tears slipped down my cheeks, but I wasn’t sad. For the first time in my life, I understood.

This magic wasn’t new. It was old. Older than this body. Older than memory. I wasn’t just discovering it.

I was remembering it.

And just like that, it was gone. All that was left was emptiness. I stayed like that for a few minutes before sighing out in disappointment before dusting my hands and legs.

Just as I was about to take a step forward, a sharp pain surged through my fingertips like a thousand needles were piercing me from the inside out and suddenly the pain from earlier came again and I passed out.

Becky's POV“For fuck’s sake, Lora, let me sleep. We can talk about this when I wake up,” I said, turning over and using my pillow to cover my ears, hoping it would at least block out a little of the female, elegant voice that was filled with worry, panic, and mockery.“But…”“No buts,” I yelled, finally shutting her up.“Yes, ma’am,” she replied in a small voice.“Thank you,” I said, getting comfortable in bed and blacking out almost immediately.—The next time I opened my eyes, the sky outside my window was bruised purple and gold. Evening. My room was dark except for the sliver of fading light leaking in through the curtains. For one blissful second, I thought maybe my stomach would let me sleep until morning. Then it growled. Loud. Aggressive. Like an angry bear demanding tribute.I groaned and shoved my face deeper into the pillow. “Shut up. You’re embarrassing us.”You’re embarrassing yourself, Lora whispered, smug now that I’d woken her too. I told you—food would call you back

  • The Alpha King Hexed Bride   Chapter 41: Closer Than You Think.

Becky's POVThe car ride home felt longer than the trip to Grandma's. Maybe it was because no one spoke—not really. The air was heavy, thick with unasked questions and sideways glances I could feel burning into my skin.I pressed my forehead against the window, watching trees blur past in streaks of green and gray. My body still hummed from last night. Every nerve, every bone felt wrong and right at the same time—like I'd been stitched back together with fire instead of thread.I'd shifted.Me. The girl who thought she'd never have a wolf. The girl who'd resigned herself to being less. And yet Lora had burst out of me like she'd been waiting for years, her howl tearing the forest apart, her claws carving into the earth as if she owned it. Even now, I could feel her pacing inside me—more restless, more proud, more alive than she'd ever been when she was just a voice in my head."Stop brooding," Lora whispered in my head, her voice sharp and confident. "You should be celebrating.""Easy

Chapter 40: Too vulnerable.Haunter's POV Sleep felt inevitable and with Dax’s constant yapping of him sensing our mate coming to us willingly.“Can you please stop? Your puppy love is a little annoying." Dax growled, low and restless. “You felt it too. Don’t play dumb. She’s not just ours—she’s… different.”Different. That word again.I ran a hand over my face, dragging out the exhaustion but not chasing it away. Dax wasn’t wrong. When Becky shifted tonight, the pull was nothing like I’d expected. It wasn’t the soft thread of a mate bond; it was a tidal wave. Ancient. Raw. Something that had no business living inside someone who still wore oversized hoodies and tripped over her own feet.I almost went to her. Almost tore across the forest just to catch one glimpse. My wolf wanted it. My blood wanted it. Every damn part of me wanted it.But I didn’t.Because she’s not ready.Because if I showed up, she’d see the truth in my eyes—that she owns me already, and I don’t know how to take

Chapter 39: Come In.Becky's POV “What old ones?" I asked, drifting off to sleep. "The old ones. The Ancients. The ones even Alphas don't talk about. Your power? It’s tied to them. Your lineage isn’t just rare—it’s forbidden in some circles."I sat up slowly, the blanket falling off my shoulders. The morning sun filtered through the curtains, too bright for a girl who nearly exploded the forest twelve hours ago. What the hell does that even mean?"It means you’re no longer just Becky—the girl who couldn’t shift. You’re a wildcard in the middle of an already messed up supernatural chessboard." She hesitated. "And I think the King felt it too."I stilled.Haunter.Of course he did. I could feel the way our bond tugged last night. Even now, it hummed faintly beneath my skin. Dormant. Waiting. But alive.“What the hell are you dragging me into, fate?” I muttered aloud, pressing my hands against my face.A knock on my door made me flinch.“Becks?” It was Brandon.I groaned. “What?”“We m

  • The Alpha King Hexed Bride   Chapter 38: The Old Ones.

Chapter 38: The Old Ones. Becky’s POVBy the time the sun rose, my skin felt too tight again—but for an entirely different reason. The shift back to human form wasn’t graceful. It was painful. Exhausting. Messy. There was no glowing magic or gentle fade like the stories made it sound. Just the raw stretch of muscle and bone, the wet snap of transition, and the cold dew on my bare skin as I collapsed into the dirt behind Grandma’s house, naked, trembling, and very, very human.Brandon had yelped and spun so fast he nearly tripped over his own feet. Damian had sighed and muttered something about “getting a damn blanket before she freezes to death.” And Sebastian… well, Sebastian had done what he always did—stepped between me and the world without hesitation and draped his own hoodie around me before lifting me like I weighed nothing at all. Now, hours later, I sat curled on Grandma’s living room couch wrapped in an old crocheted quilt, staring into the fireplace like it held the answer

  • The Alpha King Hexed Bride   Chapter 37: Idiot.

Chapter 37: Idiot.Becky's POV.I didn’t sleep.I couldn't.Not because I didn’t want to. My body was exhausted, but my mind… my mind was a battlefield. Flashes of Haunter’s touch, his voice in the dark, the way my power had ripped loose from me like it had a mind of its own. I didn’t feel like myself anymore. I felt like I was wearing someone else’s skin, and it was too tight.I stared at the ceiling of the little guest room Grandma had set up for me. Moonlight filtered through the lace curtains, painting soft shadows across the walls. The air felt thick. Like it was watching me.Around 3 a.m., I gave up pretending. I threw the blankets off and padded out into the hallway barefoot, hoodie still wrapped tightly around me like armor. I didn’t know where I was going—just that I needed to move. If I stayed still, I’d crack. The floorboards creaked beneath my steps. I could hear Brandon snoring faintly from the room at the end of the hall. Damian was probably still pacing in his sleep, an
