LOGINOlivia's POV
“Mate,” Lucy howled inside my head, fierce and wild. The golden cord binding me was also binding Alpha Kingsley with a strong magnetic pull, drawing us closer to each other at an uncomfortable distance. I felt my heart pounding in my chest like it wanted to break free and run away. “This can’t be,” I whispered to myself. “Haven’t I suffered enough? Or is the Moon Goddess playing a prank on me?” I asked myself again, my throat tightening. Of all the males present, why must it be him? I was already prepared for not being able to find a mate, but who could have warned me or prepared me for this kind of situation? My hands were shaking slightly, and I folded them behind me so no one would notice. “How can this be?” Alpha Kingsley scoffed. “You… my mate?” A dark, mocking grin spread across his face. His eyes roamed over me slowly, cruelly, like he was looking at something unbelievable—something wrong. “Is the Moon Goddess bored?” he continued coldly. “Or does she need entertainment?” The words hit me hard. “To think that you would be bound to me,” he said with a short laugh. “For years, I never wanted a mate. I never even dreamed of one. And now fate gives me this.” He gestured vaguely in my direction, as if I were nothing more than an inconvenience. His gaze hardened as it met mine—sharp, filled with pure dislike. “There is nothing about you I want,” he said flatly. “Nothing.” The hatred in his eyes was impossible to miss. It was clear. Open. Undeniable. And in that moment, I understood something painful. He didn’t just reject the bond. He despised the idea of me. “I don’t accept this union. Proceed with the rejection process,” he said to the priestess, his face cold as ice. “Are you sure you want to reject her? You must think carefully about the consequences,” she warned, turning to look at me expressionlessly. Her voice held no pity. I was full of shame, anger, hurt, betrayal, and fear. Was I that bad? Or was I just destined to never find happiness? My cheeks burned, and I could feel the judgmental stares around me like needles poking into my skin. “I accept,” I voiced softly, my mind still bewildered by everything. A part of me was relieved that I didn’t have to face any more ridicule or hurt from a mate who didn’t want me, but another part of me felt sad. Well, this is how it was always meant to be, I thought bitterly. Alone. Lonely. After all, who would want a fat pig? Sophia’s mocking voice echoed cruelly in my head. “Wait. I, Alpha Kingsley of the Ancient Blue Moon Pack, accept you as my mate.” Immediately, a blinding light shone from the cord holding us. It rotated around us and went into our foreheads. The mate bond snapped into place, and I felt a strange connection with him—something heavy, cold, and unfamiliar. My breath caught in my throat. “Why?” I asked, barely able to speak. My voice trembled. Why the sudden change of mind? Or did he want to suck my blood, just as the rumors said? Did he think I would have more blood or taste better because of my size? I shuddered at the mere thought, a chill running through my body. I wrapped my arms around myself, feeling exposed. I was still lost in thought when a hand suddenly grabbed me and pulled me away. I almost stumbled as his grip was strong and rough. Looking up, I noticed that I was being led away by Alpha Kingsley—now my mate—to a distance away from the questioning and mocking stares of the crowd. Their whispers still followed us. “Why did you change your mind? I don’t think I can be good enough for you,” I stuttered. My voice cracked halfway, and embarrassment washed over me. “Good. You know your place. And don’t get any funny ideas in that head of yours. I only accepted you because I’m running for the Lycan chairman position and don’t want to be weakened by a useless, broken mate bond,” he replied sarcastically. His words were sharp, thrown straight at me like daggers. His face showed no sign of regret—not even a small one. I had never felt so afraid and humiliated in my life. My chest tightened painfully. “I don’t think I can play this game with you. Can you please just reject me?” I barely spoke, my legs already shaking from our close distance. I didn’t want to look him in the eye, so I stared at the ground. Immediately, a chilling sensation washed over my body. I turned to face him, and his gaze was dark and ruthless—the kind of look that made the air around us feel colder. “I don’t like being rejected, questioned, or challenged. I will count this as a slip-up. Don’t test my patience. We leave in three days,” he commanded, then turned around. With one hand resting behind him on his hip, he walked away with a strange, majestic confidence, oozing arrogance and danger. I watched him move like he owned every step he took. People shifted out of his way without him saying a word. Even his back looked intimidating. Everything about him screamed power and authority. I stood there, transfixed and still confused. My heart felt heavy, like something was pressing down on it. I wrapped my arms around myself again, trying to hold myself together. “My life is going to be anything but peaceful,” I whispered to no one in particular. My legs finally regained feeling, and I slowly walked away from the area, each step heavier than the last. The whispers followed behind me, but I tried to block them out. I didn’t know whether to cry, scream, or laugh at the cruelty of fate. All I knew was that nothing about my life would ever remain the same again.Olivia’s POV“Karl!” I screamed at the top of my lungs, stretching my voice until my throat almost hurt. This girl is trying to take my life.Heavy footsteps echoed from outside running towards the direction of my room. The door flew open almost instantly.Karl rushed in with two moon guardians behind him, his expression tense as his sharp eyes swept across the room.“What happened?” he demanded.I pointed an accusing finger at Amelia.“She’s trying to starve me to death” I complained.Silence.The two moon guardians blinked. One coughed and quickly looked away while the other suddenly developed a new interest in the celling of my room.Karl stared at me for a few long seconds before turning to Amelia.“What happened?”Amelia stood up obediently.“Big sister wanted food after drinking Grandma Healer’s vitality soup.”Karl nodded once.“Then?”“I refused because Grandma Healer said she must wait two hours before eating anything to make the medicine effective .”“And?”“She started call
Olivia’s POVThe preparations for my departure took over the next few days as a series of arrangements unfolded one after another.First, Grandma Healer practically buried me under every kind of pill, medicinal soup, tonic, and supplement imaginable. There were bone-strengthening broths, vitality-enhancing elixirs, muscle-rejuvenating pills, blood-nourishing herbs, marrow-refining decoctions, and countless medicines whose names I couldn’t even pronounce. The amount of rare herbs, pills, and medicinal soups I consumed over these few days could probably fund the medical expenses of a medium-sized pack for six whole months.Grandma Healer had somehow gained unrestricted access to the medical vault, and I was forced to swallow every bitter pill and drink every strange-looking concoction she handed me.To make matters worse…Amelia, that little traitor, happily volunteered to supervise me.She watched me like a prison guard, making sure I swallowed every single pill and finished every bowl
Olivia POV“I will go into the Abyssal Void to search for the fruit,” I spoke, breaking the heavy silence that had settled over the hall.“You will do no such thing.”Karl interjected immediately, his voice firm and commanding, leaving no room for argument. His words echoed through the silent hall, making everyone instinctively look between the two of us.“You all said I am the Chosen One and that I am saddled with a heavy responsibility.”“I cannot just sit here and do nothing,” I spoke aloud, meeting every pair of eyes without flinching.“How can I save the world—or save anybody—if I can’t even survive my own bloodlines?” I asked, my voice calm yet unwavering.“It’s too dangerous, and the chances of success are less than one percent,” Karl argued.“Although you are strong and can hold your own against some enemies, without your wolf, how long do you honestly think you can survive in the Abyssal Void?” he demanded, his voice rising for the first time. The veins on his forehead bulged
Olivia’s POVKarl’s face tightened almost in noticeable , but I still noticed it. The veins on the back of his hand became visible as his fingers slowly curled into a fist. His lips parted as though he wanted to speak, yet no words came out. For the first time since I met him, Karl looked… hesitant. It wasn’t fear for himself. It was fear of telling me something that could change everything.“It has disrupted the balance holding everything together,” Karl finally said.“Your body is getting weaker… and it might collapse at any moment.”His words struck my chest like a heavy hammer. My ears rang. For a brief moment, every sound inside the hall disappeared.Amelia’s tiny hand was still holding mine, yet I could barely feel it.Collapse? Those words echoed endlessly inside my head. After surviving betrayal…After escaping death…After finally finding people who accepted me…Was fate really going to end everything now?I lowered my head, staring blankly at my trembling fingers. My finger
Olivia’s POV“Amelia,” Karl called softly, a slight frown appearing on his face.“It’s okay. Let her stay,” I chimed in before Amelia could protest. She giggled happily, immediately tightening her grip around my hand.I stretched out my free hand and ruffled her soft hair tenderly.Karl glanced at Amelia for a brief moment before turning away. He looked at Grandma Healer and nodded.“You can continue.”Grandma Healer turned toward me, worry written plainly across her aged face.“She’s fine… for now,” she repeated.I breathed out softly in relief. But then my mind caught onto her choice of words. For now.The relief in my heart immediately disappeared. My breathing slowed.“But…” she continued gently. My heart skipped a beat.I unconsciously held my breath, waiting for the rest of her sentence.“Her wolf has awakened,” Grandma Healer said quietly, “but her body cannot cope with it.”Karl’s brows knitted together.“What do you mean her body can’t cope?” he asked immediately.“When you f
Olivia POV I stepped out of the hall with Karl following closely behind me, the rest of the Moon Guardians moving in silent formation. No one spoke a single word. Yet their silence spoke louder than any conversation ever could. Some walked beside me. Others remained a few steps behind. None attempted to move ahead of me. It was as though they had silently decided that whatever awaited outside, they would face it together. Ready to stand beside me. Ready to protect me. Ready to fight. A strange warmth filled my heart. I had never experienced something like this before. Was this what loyalty truly meant? Was this what it felt like to be loved… to have people willingly stand behind you without asking for anything in return? I unconsciously straightened my back. My shoulders lifted. My head rose proudly. Whatever waited outside… I would face it. Together with them. We walked through the eastern wing until we reached the massive entrance leading outside. The moment I
