Chapter 5

Vivian's POV

All it took was a 5-minute conversation for them to decide they didn't want me anymore.

I was disgusted but not surprised.

5 minutes against all the years I had given them, all the care, love and devotion.

I pitifully remembered myself in my previous life, fighting tooth and nail to win their affection.

When I should have just walked away from this very moment.

Pathetic.

I packed up my bags and left, surprisingly Draven followed me to the border.

He was really such a pain.

"You know you're going to regret this..."he said emerging from behind a tree where he had been hiding earlier, "... Your wolf is weak, you've lived here your entire life as the pampered princess of the Gandillon Beta house, how will you survive on your own?"

I knew he spoke not out of concern for me.

This was just another one of his tricks, making me undermine myself and crawl into his arms.

"I'll be fine," I said dismissively, hoping he'd leave now.

He grabbed my arm as stubborn as ever.

"Something has changed about you after last night,"he said, his voice thick, "if it's about the kids, then we can..."

"What are you even talking about? We are no longer mates. Remember, we've severed all ties."

He looked down at me as if he was just coming down to that realization.

"So why are you throwing away everything we have, at least tell me that first!" His hold deepened and his voice rose, "don't you love me anymore?"

I bit back the truth.

Part of me wanted to yell in his face that for two lifetimes all I have done is love him, risk my life for him, give him everything and anything he wanted from me and all I asked was reciprocation.

But it was too much.

I was too greedy to ask for even that.

Then all Sarafine had to do was breathe in his direction and he would lay down the world for her.

I wasn't going to be that fool anymore, swayed by his empty words and false promises.

A strength I didn't know I had overcame me and I yanked by hand out of his grip with sheer force.

"I did love you, but not anymore."

With that I walked away ending that chapter in my life but soon I would return and it would be with the full intent to conquer.

•••••••••••••

"You have exactly 10 seconds to explain how you found me before I snap your wrist like a twig," I was pressed against the wall, by the bulk of a large man and his scent of mint and the earth right after rain flooded my nostrils.

I smiled even as I was being sandwiched against the wall.

"Make it 10 Jacob and I'll tell you how to get out of here without being captured."

The first thing I had to do was find a way to the Great Lycan princes.

We had been enemies in my past lives, however now we shared the same enemy and as they say the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

I know if I can prove an asset to them they will have no other choice done to accept me.

Following the timeline I knew that the youngest of the brothers was going incognito within werewolf territory.

He was staying at a shabby motel, in my previous life I had arranged for him to be ambushed and captured knowing his location.

But now I wanted to be a helping hand.

I pretended to be drunk and 'accidentally' stumbled into his room.

He walked in, saw me and grabbed me, pushing me against the wall and placing my hands behind my back, with his weight pressed against me and keeping me in place.

"I didn't think I should see you so soon, viper,"

That was the first thing he said to me and my entire body went stiff at first.

The viper of the lycans, that was a nickname I had not yet earned. It would come to me in a few more months if I had continued to thread with Voss pack after successfully poisoning a water source used by Lycan warriors.

This title mixed up with the fact that his first instinct was to restrain me the second he saw me popped a conspiracy in my head.

What if this time. I was not the only one reborn?

This unexpected variable could either be a numbing weakness or a piercing advantage.

After I told him that I could stop him from being captured he backed away slowly, then suddenly slammed his hands at both sides of me.

"Call off your warriors," he growled in my ear, a small shiver rippled through me.

He didn't know that I came alone this time.

"They're not my warriors anymore, I've left the Voss pack."

A dark chuckle emanated from him.

"Are you changing your tactics this time?"

'This time?' knowing what I knew he was only solidifying what I suspected in my head.

"Maybe I just want to be on the winning side, I'm not going to pretend and act like this isn't just the way to save my own skin-it is."

He pressed closer, I could feel the heat of his body through his clothes.

"And why should I trust a single word that comes out of that mouth of yours? As far as I know it's probably a trap. And as much as I hate to admit it you werewolves are on the winning side now why switch?"

I wanted to answer him then came a bang on the door, he grabbed my arm and pulled me with him dipping his eyes into the peel hole.

I watched the veins appear in his head and his hold on me get tighter than it was a moment ago.

"They're here, your warriors. Looks like I walked into your trap again, didn't I?"

I froze up, I hadn't brought anyone with me.

So who were those standing at the other side of the door?

Chapter 116Vivian’s POVAs our royal cars moved slowly through the main streets of the Voss pack territory, my heart felt a heavy, quiet sadness. The roads were broken and full of mud. The small stone houses along the street were falling apart, their roofs caved in and windows covered with dirty rags. Everywhere I looked, common pack members stood on the dusty roadside, watching our passing cars with hollow, hopeless eyes. They were skinny, tired, and starved. Children wore ripped, thin clothes in the cold wind, clinging tightly to their crying mothers. This was the true result of Vlad’s poor management. In his desperate, greedy fight to win a war, my adoptive father Vlad had taken every single piece of grain, every gold coin, and every fat cow from the common people to pay for his soldiers. Draven had enforced his cruel tax laws without a single drop of mercy. While they showered Sarafine with expensive silk dresses and gold jewels in the packhouse, the hard-working citizens of the

Chapter 115Lucien’s POVThe heavy front doors of the old Voss packhouse creaked open as our royal warriors pushed them wide.Inside the main hall, the air was cold, dusty, and silent. The old silk banners on the stone walls were faded and torn. The long wooden tables sat empty, covered in dark dust.Gabriel, Jacob, and I stepped smoothly into the hall, surrounding Vivian as her protective shields.Behind us, two lines of our elite Crescent Phoenix guards marched inside, their heavy leather boots making a firm, steady sound against the stone floor.Sitting on the high wooden chair at the far end of the room was Vlad, the man who had raised Vivian as her adoptive father after his biological daughter went missing long ago. Next to him stood Draven, her former fiance, his face dark with violent anger. Standing in the shadow behind them was Sarafine, her dress messy and her face pale with fear.Gathered along the sides of the hall were the remaining Voss elders. They stood in quiet terror

Chapter 114Vivian’s POVThe heavy engines of our royal cars made a loud, steady hum as we drove across the wide border fields.Beside me, Gabriel held the steering wheel with his massive hands. His golden hazel eyes looked straight ahead, watching the open road. Behind us sat Lucien and Jacob, their eyes sharp and quiet. Following right behind our lead car were long rows of dark steel vehicles filled with our brave frontline warriors. It was a huge, strong force that stretched far down the road.I sat tall in my custom dark steel armor. Tucked safely behind my left ear, the silver Moon Whisper flower gave off a soft, warm feeling that kept me calm. My blue doe eyes were quiet and clear.Soon, we reached the top of a small hill, and the border wall of the Voss pack came into view.Standing behind a low stone wall were the last remaining Voss border guards. Their armor was old and dirty, and their iron weapons looked rusted. They looked tired and pale. These were the only men Vlad had

Chapter 113Gabriel’s POVThe early morning mist hung low over the main courtyard, smelling of fresh rain, cool iron, and pine wood.Row upon row of open-top royal military vehicles sat idling on the cobblestone, their dark steel frames gleaming softly in the pale sunrise. Hundreds of our frontline Lycan warriors stood beside them, ready to march out toward the Voss border to enforce Vivian’s treaty of total subjugation. Before we mounted the lead vehicle, I stood right in front of Vivian, completely focused on her safety. She wore her custom royal armor, a piece I had personally commissioned from our master armorers. It was crafted from lightweight, high-grade dark steel that could stop any arrow or blade, lined with soft black leather to keep her comfortable. Painted across the chest plate in pure silver was the blooming crest of the Moon Whisper flower.I knelt down on one knee in front of her, my massive shoulders broad and steady. My golden hazel eyes were bright with intense car

Chapter 112Vivian’s POVThe heavy, ancient oak doors of the Moon Goddess shrine swung shut behind me, blocking out the loud cheer of the marching armies in the palace courtyard.Inside the sacred stone sanctuary, everything was calm, still, and bathed in a soft, ethereal silver light. The air was fresh and cool, smelling of white night-blooming jasmine and sweet forest rain. In the center of the circular room sat a clear pool of natural spring water, reflecting the divine glow of the large silver moon carved into the marble ceiling above. Before the boys marched out toward the Voss border, I knew I needed to seek the guidance of the mother who had granted me this rare, incredible gift.I walked slowly down the marble steps toward the edge of the sacred pool.I wore a simple white robe of soft, flowing silk. Reaching up, I gently touched the silver Moon Whisper flower tucked safely behind my left ear. It pulsed with a warm, comforting light, humming softly in harmony with the holy mag

Chapter 111Jacob’s POVThe crisp morning air in the main palace courtyard was filled with the heavy, ringing sound of iron swords and thousands of marching boots.Long rows of royal Lycan warriors stood in perfect, silent lines under the golden sunlight. They wore heavy dark steel armor, their long capes flapping gently in the cool wind. These were our elite frontline units—the same brave warriors whom Vivian had given fair pay and land rights under our new pack constitution. They were no longer bitter or tired; their eyes burned with fierce loyalty and absolute pride.I stood on the high stone steps above the courtyard, strapping on my thick leather forearm guards. My usual cheerful, playful grin was completely gone. My emerald green eyes burned with a bright, cold fire of fierce anticipation. This time, we were not marching out to fight a long, confusing war on the border plains. We were not going out to make empty peace deals. We were marching to the Voss border to enforce Vivian’
