Spencer POV

Looking up after telling him my name, expecting him to kick me out of the car, I saw William smile.

“Well it’s nice to meet you Spencer.” Is all he said before his friend Ashton started driving.

Breathing a sigh of relief, I looked out the window, reminding myself that even though I have escaped my prison, I maybe could be letting myself into a different one.

The drive seemed to go on for an hour, watching the forest slowly fall into the background. Finally I saw buildings, the car began to slow and turn up a long drive. Both William and Ashton stiffened, like they were bracing themselves for something. Then as if nothing had happened they both relaxed.

“We have arrived.” Ashton said, obviously for my benefit.

The house came into view and it was huge, surrounded by smaller houses, like its own village. Ashton pulled in front of the mansion like house, turning the car off and getting out. In the blink of an eye he was at my door opening it and offering his hand. Not an inkling of fear at touching me. A smile graced his face as I placed my hand in his, there was no strange surge of energy like when touching William.

Slowly, I stepped out of the car. Looking around as, unlike Silvermoon, there seemed to be no one walking around in the middle of the night. The moonlight didn’t make anything look menacing, only adding beautiful shadows to the surroundings.

William got out the car behind me, leading the way to what must be his house. The front door opened and a small blonde woman greeted both William and Ashton with a blinding smile before looking at me. Her smile faltered slightly until William spoke.

“This is Spencer, I found her near Silvermoon covered in blood and crying. She is going to get cleaned up and I will give her money and she will be on her way.” I looked at her and nodded.

“Surely she will be staying the night, you cannot let her out in the dark. If she trusted you to bring her here she must be in danger.” The woman questioned looking between Ashton and William.

“I’m Olive, Williams sister by the way. It’s nice to meet you. Don’t be intimidated by these assholes, they are like big puppy dogs.” She continued.

In the corner of my eye I see William glare at her, not in a loving sibling way either. William turns to me, his face softening and offered his hand. Hesitantly, I place my hand into his. Once again I felt the energy between us, thankfully this time I didn’t feel faint.

William POV

When Spencer’s hand touched mine the energy was there again. I looked into her eyes and wondered if she felt it too.

“I didn’t think staying the night was something up for debate, what sort of man would I be if I let her back out into the night. She wouldn’t be able to get into a hotel at this time of night.” Slowly raising my voice. Olive knew not to question me in front of people.

“Could you ask someone to get the guest room on my floor set up for Spencer, wake someone if need be.” I ordered Ashton. Then continued “Olive, would you mind taking Spencer to your room to get cleaned up and give her some clothes. I feel like she would be more comfortable with a woman.”

Spencer let go of my hand and shakily made her way to Olive. Her dress was completely destroyed, turned and covered in blood and mud. Her figure disappeared, swallowed by the brightness of the house.

Ashton was yet to move, I knew he was seriously questioning my judgement right now.

“What are you thinking, a complete stranger in our house. We only know her name, not what happened to yet or where she came from or even if she is a wolf. I smell no remnants of Silvermoon on her, it’s like she has a shield around her.” Ashton exploded, obviously still annoyed that he lost Simon.

Mars growled in my head, “how dare he question why we want her safe.”

When questioned Mars did not expand to even let me know why.

“Mars was drawn to her, it’s like he took over all my senses and I couldn’t stop him. I’m sorry I abandoned the hunt and we lost those fuckers. I couldn’t stop him, there is something about her that he likes and he won’t even tell me.” I explained with genuine remorse in my tone.

Then Ashton slowly moved towards the house, I could tell he was still annoyed but he had to accept my word. Being Alpha can be rewarding but it is so hard to stay calm when your own family question every decision.

With that I entered the house, climbed the stairs, I passed Olive’s room hearing the shower going. Spencer must be in there, fighting the urge to check on her, I continued up the stairs.

Closing the door to my room I sighed, needing a shower myself I stripped off and let the water wash off the horrors of the day.

William POVTaking a few seconds to fully take in what Ashton had said my mind started racing. Did Ashton really think that my Spencer was his sister? “Ashton honey, what make you think that?” Mother asks, her brow furrowed. “She told me that she grew up without her father, in fact she never knew him but she had a feeling that he was her mothers mate. Her mother didn’t date anyone after him, that added to the fact her eyes are a mix of theirs. It all adds up.”Olive gave him a skeptical look before speaking.“But her mother was a single mother, from what we know of her childhood, they were struggling to get by. Her mother probably put all her energy into raising her daughter alone, she probably didn’t have time to date, or she didn’t want to introduce a random guy to Spencer” “Did you tell Spencer this? Because if you’re sure then the only way to confirm would be to do a DNA test.” I added, a selfish part of me hopes he is right so Spencer has a reason to stick around if she refuse

  • The Alpha and His Mysterious Lady   Chapter 96

Spencer POVAfter our talk Ashton gave me a weird awestruck look and abruptly left. Why did he think my eyes were like his mothers and father? Surely if they died when he was seven then he wouldn’t truly remember what they look like. The doctor came to my room and gave me a full list of what injuries I had sustained and what they did to fix them. One thing that he said that the nurse did not mention is that at one point I had flatlined on the table and they had to do CPR and shock me to bring me back.He did say that my injuries were extensive and only time will tell if I have any lasting damage. However, due to the fact I woke up earlier than expected is a good sign. The leg that the bone broke through required them to use internal fixation to stabilise it. Seeing my confused face the doctor explained that they used metal to stabilise the bone and aid in its repair. They also had to do surgery on my spine, but he did not go into detail about what they did. He was hopeful that I will

William POVFor the first time in my life, I could not tell what Ashton was thinking. I tried to link with him, but it was like a black void, he was blocking me out.Mother moved to the kitchen areas in her quarters and I heard the kettle starting to boil, a small smile appeared on both of our faces. No matter what we went through as children and how many times we argued, she made tea. It was like her way of trying to defuse the tea.“Ash, I am so sorry. I didn’t know that Mars would be like that. If I had known I would have had the entire warrior force between Spencer, you and myself.” I say, pleading with him.“Why is it that no matter what you do, I am unable to stay mad at you?” Ashton asks with a chuckle before continuing.“I know that you wouldn’t have done it if you knew, you love us both too much to put us through it. But sadly, it happened, I will make a full recovery as long as I rest my arm. Spencer on the other hand is in a more critical condition.”Mother walked in with t

  • The Alpha and His Mysterious Lady   Chapter 94

William POV The look in Spencer’s eyes when she woke up broke something in me. She was scared of me now, I didn’t think Mars would do feral like he did. She didn’t object to the nurse telling me to leave, Olive was right I really messed up this time. After I left the hospital, I went straight back to the house. Despite just wanting to be alone I needed to let everyone know that she woke up, mother and Olive stayed with me in her room for a few hours but retired to the house to get some rest. When the doctor came out and told me about her broken back and the extend to the injury to her leg, my own legs gave way under me. Mother and Olive tried to keep me up right but failed so I dropped to the floor, thankfully I hadn’t injured myself so they still let me see her. They explained that she was in a coma to aid the heeling process, I grabbed her hand and kissed it. It felt cold and clammy under my lips and because of the fluids pumping into her system she didn’t quite smell like hers

  • The Alpha and His Mysterious Lady   Chapter 93

Spencer POV The nurse opened the door slightly, hiding me from view with her body. There were some whispered words that I was unable to make out. “Beta Ashton is here to see you, visiting hours are over but would you like to see him?” The nurse asks me, her eyes are telling me to say no but I needed to see him and I didn’t know when I was getting out of here. “Yes please, I need to speak to him.” I say. Ashton walks into the room, his shoulder is wrapped up and his arm in a sling. He looks exhausted and in pain. He moves to William’s now vacant seat, his movements are stiff and he winces as he sits down. “Im sorry” we say at the same time. A small chuckle escapes his lips before he continues. “Spencer, I am so sorry that I was unable to protect you. What kind of Beta am I if I can't protect those who need it?” He says, his sounds heartbroken. “Ash, you have nothing to be sorry for. You tried your best, but Mars was feral, William said so himself, and he is Alpha it's h

  • The Alpha and His Mysterious Lady   Chapter 92

Spencer POV My eyes opened and I found myself in a clinically white room, a machine beeped steadily next to me. My entire body feels like it was hit by a bus and there is someone snoring in the corner of the room. I look around and see William, the beeping of the machine gets faster as my heart begins to race alerting the nurses at the station. A few seconds later a nurse comes in. “Glad to see you awake Spencer, you have given us quite the scare.” She said as she checks the machine and the wires attached to me. “How long have I been out for?” I ask hoarsely, my throat burning as I speak. “Two days, your injuries were worse than we originally thought when we found you in the forest.” She says giving me a sympathetic look. The noise of us talking wakes up William, his eyes dart straight to me. His hair is messy like he has been continually running his hands through it, his eyes are bloodshot either from tears or lack of sleep it's hard to tell. “Spence, I am so sorry. I didn’

Spencer POV Despite the softness of his voice I didn’t say my name. For all I knew he would try to drag me back to Shadowmoon kicking and screaming.
