LOGINElise POV
My fingers are raw from all the scrubbing. It’s already past ten pm, and the list of chores to complete seems never-ending and that’s on top of a day spent working in the packhouse. Thankfully, Tristan never did punish me for what occurred in the study but I’d spent all day looking over my shoulder and waiting for the other shoe to drop.Maybe it was paranoia but I'd grown used to being punished.
“Mother, it’s finally happening,” Seraphine squealed as she came rushing through the door, a smile on her face.
I winced at the shrillness of her voice and continued to blindly scrub, not interested in the slightest.
Knowing her, it could be anything from going to a concert to a movie with her favourite actor.
“What is it?” Agatha’s voice was eager as Seraphine flung her arms around her, her daughter practically vibrating with joy.
I rolled my eyes and wished they would go speak elsewhere, my head throbbing painfully.
“He’s making the announcement tomorrow,” Seraphine crowed, dancing on the spot as Agatha released her and danced in triumph.
“You mean,” Agatha shouted in excitement, and Seraphine nodded, beaming at her mother.
“He’s finally going to make me his Luna,” she screamed, twirling and laughing.
I stiffened. My hands stopped moving as I stared blankly at the floor. I had known it was coming. It was no secret how much Tristan adored Seraphine, but it still stung. The man who was fated to be mine had rejected me for her sake. I hadn’t felt the mate bond but Tristan had. I’d never seen him so angry when he realized I was his mate. He’d wanted it to be Seraphine.
This was just another humiliation to survive. Another traumatic event to get through.
“Jealous much,” Seraphine smirked down at me. “A heifer like you is never going to find a mate. Hell,” she giggled as I stilled, “even if you did, they would just reject your pathetic ass.”
I clenched my hands into fists, the brush in my hand twisting in my grip. Part of me wanted to hit her for her cruelty towards me, but I knew better than to try. Unlike me, Seraphine had a wolf.
“That’s not nice, Seraphine,” Agatha scolded her daughter, “just because it’s the truth doesn’t mean you have to say it. Elise is already aware she won’t find someone; we should be more considerate of her feelings," she chirped, a wide grin on her face.
She wasn't scolding her daughter at all, but relishing the opportunity to hurt me, even if it was just with words.
Bitch. She was enjoying this. It was a slap to the face and a reminder of how much she loathed me.
The feeling was mutual.
Seraphine giggled. Agatha gasped out loud and put a hand to her mouth, her eyes widening, a look of panic on her face.
“You have to wear the perfect outfit tomorrow. You can’t just wear anything when he makes the announcement. You need something special, something designer," she gasped, "this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity Seraphine, you have to make sure you're the centre of attention."
“Relax, mother. I had a dress designed and made months ago. I knew Tristan wouldn’t be able to resist making me his. It was just a matter of time,” she purred.
“Still, you need to get your beauty sleep,” Agatha insisted, and Seraphine waved a dismissive hand.
“In a moment. I want to speak to my dear half-sister first,” she said evenly, and I stiffened, not liking her tone of voice or what it might imply.
I almost begged Agatha to stay, but she walked away without another word. Seraphine sauntered closer, her smile like the cat who got the cream. She bent down as I kept my head bowed low, my eyes shimmering with unshed tears. Carefully, she put her stiletto heel on top of my hand and pressed it down as I tried to pull away. The heel dug into my skin, and I cried out in pain as she giggled like the psycho bitch she was.
“I saw you that day with Tristan,” she breathed, bending down as my eyes slowly rose to meet hers, “I heard everything he said. Somebody like you was never going to become Luna. I’m here to remind you,” she pressed down harder and I gave a cry of pain, unable to move away, “that if you try anything tomorrow, say anything that distracts from my special moment, I won’t hesitate to end you. Tomorrow night is my time to shine. You’re going to stay away; you’re going to keep your mouth shut, and you’re not so much as going to look at my chosen mate, or you’ll find out that what I’ve done to you so far is nothing. Do you hear me?” she hissed.
She'd seen it all. I felt myself swaying as I gritted my teeth and forced myself to speak.
“I understand,” I choked out, pain shooting through my hand, “please, Seraphine, it hurts," I pleaded, my voice breaking.
She stood there and twisted her heel on me, smiling wickedly.
I felt a sharp pain and hoped she hadn't managed to break one of my fingers.
“You'd better. Oh, and Elise,” she paused and tilted her head at me, “just a warning. When I’m Luna, your days become numbered. I won’t let somebody who poses a threat to me remain in this pack. Besides, I can't have Tristan's rejected mate continue to harass him or make him feel guilty."
“I’m no threat,” I whispered in agony, "and Tristan couldn't care less that we were mates. You don't have to do this to me, Seraphine."
“He might have rejected you but that doesn’t mean I trust you. Besides, nobody in this pack wants you here. I’m merely doing you a favour. Maybe you’ll find love with a rogue,” she snorted, “if they don’t kill you first.”
She smirked and winked at me before slowly raising her foot and releasing me.
I sobbed and clutched my hand as she walked away, humming under her breath.
If I wanted to live, I was going to have to leave. Because if I knew anything, it was that Seraphine didn’t make empty threats.
But where was I supposed to go?
Blaze POVI took some time to hunt my mate down. I'd requested the surveillance cameras, seen the bastard take her, and then used my sense of smell to track down her scent, going floor to floor, my panic rising as I struggled to find her until eventually, I did. I kicked down the door, and what I saw immediately had my blood boiling. The man didn't even have time to get off the bed before I'd grabbed him by the neck and sent him crashing directly into the wall.He was weak, just a pathetic omega, and no trouble to me at all. He yelped in pain and stood back up. Elise's eyes fluttered closed, and she fell unconscious. "Bastard," I roared, "what did you do to her?"He lunged at me. Fool. I sent him sprawling backwards, punching him in the face and not holding back. His eye blackened. I attacked again, my fists doing the talking for me as I let loose on him, refusing to give him even the merest hint of mercy. He'd hurt my mate. He'd laid hands on her. I was furious, and I sus
Trigger warning: Episode contains mention of sexual assault, but Blaze saves her just in time. Please do not read if this may trigger you. Elise POVI stumbled in my heels as I was dragged towards the room, my eyes blurred and my body heated. I didn't know who had me. I didn't know why they were doing this. All I knew was that as soon as I entered the bathroom, my body had turned almost to liquid and an overwhelming dizziness began to spread through me. I had barely managed to keep myself upright, and after managing to do my business, I kept close to the wall and made my way outside, hoping to find my way back to Blaze and beg to go home. Was it the alcohol?I hadn't drunk much, so it made no sense that I was reacting like this. "Blaze," I mumbled, trying to pull away. I just wanted my mate. The grip on my hand was too tight, and the force with which this strange man was dragging me was too strong. I had no chance of getting away. I was also disorientated so I had no idea what
Blaze's POVThe evening has been going smoothly. Elise is radiant, her face glowing, the most beautiful woman in the room. I can't stop looking at her, proud she's my mate. Part of me wishes we were back in the packhouse, the urge to take off her dress and ravish her overwhelming me. But she's not ready for that, and I have to keep my urges in check. It's killing me slowly, though. She's so perfect, so radiant that she lights up the room. Elaine suddenly takes to the stage. It's time for her speech. The crowd gathers, and I'm careful to keep Elise by my side. "Everyone, I would like to make a small speech," Elaine began, "I see many old faces in the crowd and some new. I would like to say welcome, and I hope that you've had an enjoyable evening. As you all know, this charity event is something special to my heart. Helping those who need it, who have nowhere else to go, to protect themselves from domestic abuse, is heartbreaking. We help both men and women, and we don't discriminate
Elise POVAs we entered the function room, I felt confident. Blaze's arm wrapped around me, holding me close as though protecting me. I was wearing a blue dress that showed off my cleavage and flowed around my ankles as I walked. Blaze had surprised me with it, and to my shock, it fit perfectly, almost as though it was made for me. My hair flowed down my back in ringlets, and my makeup was subtle, giving me a more natural look. I wore slight heels, and it made my legs look slimmer. But if I were beautiful, then Blaze was a god in comparison. It was my first time seeing him in a suit, and he looked absolutely drool-worthy. The jacket clung to his body, tight-fitting, his muscles rippling with every movement. His trousers enhanced the length of his legs, and the suit in total made him look dangerous with a powerful aura emanating from him. "Alpha Blaze," a woman came rushing up, her eyes sparkling brightly. "It's a pleasure to see you again. Who is this stunning beauty?" she asked, l
Third Person POVHer plan had failed spectacularly. Elise was meant to be injured to the point of no return, even killed, but Blaze had intervened before the women went too far. It was infuriating. She'd been so close to running Elise off. A few more minutes and she would have died from her injuries. These women were loyal to her. She'd known that if she accused Elise of harming her, they would step in to protect her. They had always believed Calista would become the Luna eventually and always tried to curry favour with her. After all, Blaze had once had a thing with her, and considering Calista's prowess as head warrior, it made sense she would be the one he chose. But then he brought that bitch Elise back, and all her plans were slowly deflating. She would have to pivot and find another way to get rid of her. She would have to find another way to deal with Elise without leaving anything that could be traced back to her. Blaze couldn't see how unsuitable Elise was, but Calista c
Blaze POV"She has several broken ribs, her ankle is still sprained, and she's littered with bruises. What the hell happened?" the doctor practically roared at me, "This is like a vicious gang jumped her."I hated to admit that he was right. I'd first felt an inkling that something was wrong while patrolling the grounds, but I'd pushed the feeling away, trying to focus on the importance of my task. That had been a mistake. Then Chloe had mind-linked me and informed me that Elise was in danger. I'd set off immediately and what I had seen had instantly made my blood boil. A group of women who dared to surround Chloe and hit my mate in the name of punishing her for my sake. Delusional bitches. They were going to get what was coming to them. I should never have left Elise alone. I hated myself for not being there to protect her. "It's going to take a long time for her to heal unless...." the doctor sighed, "unless you're willing to give her your blood."He hadn't even finished the s
Blaze POVI’ve never been so enraged in my entire life. Seeing my mate so helpless as they humiliated her, as they tore her dress and exposed her back, had ignited something so dark inside of me that I was ready to kill the two of them with my bare hands. The only thing preventing me was the worry
Elise POVHis hands lightly stroke my body, leaving no inch untouched, his breath in my ear. I feel his lips gently nip my ear, and my whole body shudders. He skims my stomach and then bends down to take my nipple into his mouth, my bare body writhing beneath him.It feels so good. Warmth courses t
Blaze POVI couldn’t take my eyes off her. She was like an angel descended from heaven. Her long, glorious hair reminded me of midnight, her green eyes were like the dark green of the fur trees, and that body, God that body, was all softness and curves.I wanted to feel that softness beneath my han
Elise POVI had barely walked into the packhouse when a tray was rudely thrust into my hands. I looked at the omega, and she rolled her eyes, unhappy that she had to deal with me. “Alpha Tristan ordered coffee and morning tea for his guest,” her lip curled up, “so go and take it to him already.”“
