Their Death

Aethelwulf POV

“How's the situation over there?” I asked over the phone as my driver kept driving.

“It's getting bad by the minute, twenty persons with the same bite,” he said over the line, and I rubbed my temple slightly. This is so bad; I hope the doctors don't get infected too.

“I'm close by,” I added, then hung up in the car. I continued doing my research with my tablet.

Last night was bliss. I have been celibate for over two years now, but then I don't understand why I gave in to the lady's request without a second thought, as though something pulled me to do that.

I shook my head lightly; this isn't the time to be thinking of the sex I had last night. Fair enough, it was bliss, but then it ends there; she should find her way back to wherever she's from.

“We're here,” my driver announced, and I looked up from my tablet immediately. I opened the car door and stepped down.

“Preston had really done a good job here,” I muttered as I walked towards the gate; the guards might recognize my scent, perhaps, and they opened the door without questioning.

I made my way to the main entrance, and Preston rushed towards me and gave me a really tight hug. “Ten fucking years!” He exclaimed as he broke the hug and hugged me again.

“I can't believe we survived this,” I added, then we laughed out; he finally shook my hand, and we walked to a sofa and sat down.

“Welcome home, Alpha Aethelwulf.” I turned sharply at that voice, Old Phoebe.

“Wow,” I exclaimed as I stood up and hugged her tightly.

“Phoebe, you're still alive,” I let out, and she smacked my shoulders.

“Of course I am,” she said. I pecked her hands, and she bowed slightly and stepped out.

“I'm so happy to have you back,” Preston said. I would rather not ruin his happiness just yet. I didn't come back to stay, but he can believe what he wants for now.

“So where's your Luna?” I asked, and a deep frown formed on his face, but it disappeared almost immediately.

“She's not yet back, but my fated mate is in,” he replied, and I raised an eyebrow.

“It's a long story,” he said with a sigh. I think this isn't the right time for that story right now.

“We can leave the catching up for now; let's go to the hospital,” I suggested, and he nodded and sprang up immediately.

“We also need to announce your arrival to the people this night,” he said, and I rolled my eyes; whatever he wants, I will prefer no one knows my identity, but then the entire elders and all.

Reaching the hospital, we were advised to put on nose masks and a nylon-like clothing to protect ourselves from the virus as we were helping out in the ward; over twenty more people were brought in, and up to ten persons died right in front of me.

We left the hospital to have a meeting with the pack priest. “The twin Alphas of the Moonlight Pack,” he called out as he walked into the waiting room and sat down.

“Aethelwulf, even though you've spent more than a decade in the human world, your aura and powers still radiate greatly on you; your strong Alpha presence still announces your name,” he added while staring deep into my eyes, and I returned the favor.

“Welcome home, the great Alpha of the Moonlight Pack.” He bowed in honor, and I bowed slightly in response to him.

“Zacon, what do you think is the solution to this pandemic that is slowly saturating our pack?” Preston asked, I can feel the bit of anger in his tone; my twin brother can never change.

I couldn't help smirking at his petty behavior that he can't even conceal. “The moon goddess has given your Luna a directive, and with the help of Aethelwulf's power, our land will be healed,” he announced, and I turned to look at Preston. I can only imagine what's going on in his mind right now.

“What do you mean by that?” He asked further with his eyebrows knitted together.

“It's time for my prayers, my Alpha; I must return to my chamber.” He said, then stood up, bowed at the both of us, and walked back into his chamber.

“Have you spoken to your Luna today?” I asked, and he nodded, still staring at the door Zacon walked into.

“She's a great healer, from the healer's clan, and has proven to be gifted by her ancestors,” he added as he stood up, and I followed suit.

“She should be back by now,” he said as we walked into the car and the driver drove off.

Growing up, it was difficult to tell that we were twins, especially for the fact that we have different features in everything down to our skin color. I'm dark-skinned, with black hair and blue eyes. I got that from my mom, though she wasn't dark-skinned, but she came from a Black American lineage. My twin brother, on the other hand, is light-skinned, has blonde hair just like my dad's, and has green eyes.

We look more like strangers than twins, but we are. Growing up, my parents seemed to favor my brother over me in every single thing. I accepted it; I learned to see it as normal, but the funny thing is how my brother still gets so jealous over my things even if he's smarter—well, better. He wanted everything I had.

Furthermore, we still grew loving each other amidst our imperfections, until the night we turned eighteen, the night that changed my fate, our fate, a bloody night that took my innocence, stained my hands with blood and darkened my life forever.

“Hey bro, we've arrived,” Preston called out from outside. I didn't even realize when he strode out of the car. I stepped down as well; darkness has already embraced the sky, and the moon stood in its glory, illuminating the earth. We walked into the mansion, and I saw two she-wolves dragging a silver arrow.

Preston ran towards them immediately, but before he could drag the silver arrow out of their hands, one of the ladies stabbed it into the other, and she fell unconscious on the tiled floor immediately.

“Tasha!” He called out as he lifted the lady up in his arms, as she was slowly shifting fully to her human form as her wolf couldn't bear the pain.

The other lady tried to run and I held her hand, and she looked up at me.

“What?” I muttered confusedly, the same lady from last night.

“I am your Luna; you have no right to stop me. Move!"

  • The Alpha's Luna Is Mine    Tomorrow's Exhibition

Damien’s POVI parked my car at the back exit of my club, a route designed strictly for my use alone, hidden away from the usual chaos that clung to the front like a second skin. I hated the crowd, the noise, the unnecessary contact with people who thought they knew what luxury looked like, so I created distance in the only way I could afford, absolute control over my space. The club was not just a business, it was a feeding ground, a system I built carefully after opening my gallery, a place where I could stay close enough to humans to blend in yet distant enough to never be questioned. I needed both my worlds to function without collision, and this was the only arrangement that kept my existence stable.I stepped out of the car and pressed the lock button, listening to the soft beep that confirmed everything was secure before heading toward the private entrance. The hallway leading to my elevator was dimly lit, lined with abstract ar

  • The Alpha's Luna Is Mine    I Will Let You Know When I Change My Mind

Aethelwulf POV"What do you mean by we need to discuss something important, I just told you that I am busy?" I said with my voice slightly raised, already irritated that he was standing here disturbing me when I clearly wasn't in the mood for any form of conversation."Come on bro, let's have a bit of brotherly talk..." I ain't into hearing that. The last thing I wanted right now was whatever fake brotherly conversation he was trying to force on me."Preston, I am busy at this moment and I don't care how important whatever you need to say is, it can wait." I let out and he took a deep breath and nodded, probably his senses are screaming back to him because he could obviously tell I wasn't in a good mood and pushing me further wouldn't end well for him."Fine, so when should I come back, this is very important bro, I really need to talk to you, so give me a specific time." He requested and I didn't even know what to say. I really didn't want to entertain him at all but then if I don't g

  • The Alpha's Luna Is Mine    Meet Me In My Club

Damien’s POVThe moment she asked what I meant, I already knew patience was something I was running out of. She stood there too close, still trying to interpret authority as conversation instead of command, and I let the silence grow long enough for her to feel it in her bones. Humans always needed spoken fear to understand danger, but silence did most of the work for me.“What did you say, sir?” she repeated again, softer this time, as if volume would change the meaning of my words. I finally lifted my gaze from the documents in front of me and looked at her fully. Not with interest, not with desire, but with the kind of cold clarity that stripped illusions away. Even her thoughts were already loud, careless, spilling in directions she didn’t realize I could hear.“Lock. The. Door.” I said again, slower this time, breaking each word down so there was no room left for confusion. My voice didn’t rise, but it pressed into the room like weight. I watched her hesitate, that small flicker

  • The Alpha's Luna Is Mine    Lock The Door

Damien's POVI walked slowly through the gallery, my polished shoes echoing softly against the marble floor as I inspected every piece displayed for tomorrow's exhibition. The building was silent except for the distant sounds of workers making final preparations in other sections of the gallery. Massive chandeliers hung from the ceiling like frozen waterfalls, their golden glow bathing the artworks in a warm light that made each piece appear almost alive. Tomorrow's exhibition was one of the biggest events of the year and I refused to allow anything less than perfection. Humans had many admirable qualities, but attention to detail was rarely one of them. That was why I preferred seeing things myself rather than relying entirely on managers and supervisors. My gaze landed on the centerpiece of the exhibition, a colossal painting that occupied nearly an entire wall. It was known as The Crimson Ascension, a fictional depiction of an ancient vampire legend. The painting showed a blood red

  • The Alpha's Luna Is Mine    His Scent

He couldn't look at me. His head remained bent over the table as though the weight of his guilt was too heavy for him to carry. He was too ashamed to look me in the eyes, but I honestly didn't care whether he looked at me or not. For years, I had looked into those same eyes searching for the man I fell in love with and all I ever found staring back at me was cruelty, disappointment, and anger. This was my chance to finally let everything out. Every tear I swallowed. Every sleepless night. Every bruise I hid. Every question I never got answers to. My chest tightened painfully as emotions I had buried for years clawed their way to the surface."Do you know how many nights I go to bed praying that I never wake up again?" I asked, my voice trembling despite my efforts to keep it steady."Do you know how disappointed I feel every single morning when I open my eyes and realize I'm still alive? Do you know what it feels like to dread your own

Martha's POV"I knew you would be hungry when you woke up so I decided to prepare your favourite meal for you. Go have a seat at the dining area, I would serve your food in a jiffy," he said with a wink, and for some reason it irritated me instead of making me blush.I didn’t say a word, I simply walked to the dining table and sat down, trying to ignore the strange feeling tightening in my chest because I didn’t know if I should be happy about this sudden change or afraid of it. I hated it when people pretended, it made me more anxious than anger ever did, and right now I could already feel that this was not normal, not with Jeff, not after everything that had happened, and it made my heart shift uneasily as I watched him move around the kitchen.I brought out my phone and started going through social apps while sipping the juice he had placed in front of me, but I wasn’t really seeing anything on
