Ruby's POV

I held his gaze and kept my hands folded in my lap and didn't say another word. I had learned a long time ago that the person who speaks first after an ultimatum is the one who loses. So I just waited. Quietly. With my heart hammering so hard inside my chest I was genuinely surprised he couldn't hear it.
