SERENA

"Willa, please tell me you're at home." I said, the minute she picked up.

"Yeah, just got back. What happened? You sound so stressed, and it's not even noon yet." Willa's calm voice sounded over the phone.

"Can't talk...right now," I said, my voice breaking amidst sniffles. "When I get to your house, please."

"Ohh, baby. Don't cry too much, I'll be right here waiting for you."

On my way to Willa's house, my mind drifted to what would be next for me. I was barely making any money from my clothes store to cater for my needs...and worse, my rent would be expiring by December, which was exactly three months from now. Today was September 1st. Gosh, I would not even be able to celebrate Christmas if I don't have a stable paying job before then. I've lived in El Cajon all my life and I knew almost every place including fashion houses and I fucking applied to every single one. If it wasn't bad luck, how could not even one single fashion house say yes to my application. My designs weren't bad... I fucking know my craft!

I was completely zoned out, not knowing when the cab stopped at Willa's house.

"Ma'am, we're here."

"Ohh, thank you." I dug my hand into my purse. "How much is the ride again?"

"Fifteen dollars ma'am."

"Fuck," I muttered a silent curse. I should have taken a bus instead, which costs only two dollars. Now, I was going to pay seven times that money for just a ride. I emptied my purse and what I had was just five dollars. Today should be one of my worst days. Now, I'm about to go through another embarrassing moment by apologizing to the driver as well as asking Willa for an extra ten dollars.

"Can you hold on for a second, please?"

"Sure, ma'am."

I called Willa again.

"I'm coming, baby."

"Can you come outside...with ten dollars, please?"

"I'll be right there in a sec."

My best friend and the only close person in my life was outside in less than a second.

"How much was your ride?"

"Fifteen dollars, and I've got five dollars."

She counted some money and handed it to the driver.

"Willa, you gave him..." She had given him the complete money instead.

"Let's go inside." She put her arm under mine.

The house Willa stayed in was a storey building, not sure of the exact number but it was past five stories... What I loved about this place was the fact there were elevators to help you to get to a higher storey, the rooms were fucking spacious. Willa's bedroom only, was three times bigger than my bedroom, kitchen and restroom combined. Let me not talk about her living room. This was where I had intended moving into if only I was accepted by Milano fashion house today.

"Willa, I'll give you back the fifteen..."

"You know me too well, Serena. Don't bother about it. Let's talk about you. So, why were you crying?"

Instead of giving her a reply, I went into her arms and started crying all over again.

"Let it all out, baby." She was rubbing my back as she led us to sit on the couch. "You weren't accepted at Milano?"

"Yes, yes, my life is so done for, Willa. I've got no future, no anything...just that dead ass boutique with most of the mannequins naked as fuck." I muttered, wiping my nose.

"Don't say that, Serena,"

"It's the sad reality, Willa. The only thing left for me at this point is to overdose on heroin. It's best that I'm no longer al..."

"Shut the hell up, Serena!" Willa bit out in a raised voice. Her sharp voice made me look at her face. Damn, she was really pissed. "Why the fuck would you have such sick thoughts, not to talk of you spewing them to my hearing?"

"I...I..." Nothing was coming to my head at this moment.

"You are not going to take your life because of those silly rejections. I want to let you know that those fashion houses lost a rare gem."

I knew she was saying all this as a way of consoling me. But that didn't change my current situation.

"As for your boutique, I will speak with my uncle again to give it another try..."

"No, no, Willa. You know how much your uncle invested and how he hasn't recovered a quarter of his investments. Please, I'll need another suggestion." If I was Willa's uncle, I wouldn't even dare to put another dime in that boutique.

"He's my favourite uncle, Serena."

"Willa, please."

"Alright fine. I saw some kind of fashion gig ad this morning." She said, bringing out her phone.

"A new fashion company? Is it in El Cajon?" I asked, because I was very certain I had applied to every single one.

She passed her phone to me without responding.

A brief glance at what was written on her phone, I was taken aback by what I had just read. Infact, I had to read it loud with my mouth, to be sure Willa had shown me the right info. "Fashion designers urgently needed at Frost Vipers clubhouse. We only need talented people that can make badass riding gear. Pay's real good. Find the application link below."

"I know I shouldn't have brought this up 'cause of..."

"They fucking killed my brother, Willa." I gave her back her phone. Yes, it was five years ago but the pain was still very fresh. They were also the reason my mom joined my brother 'cause her heart couldn't bear the pain.

"I haven't forgotten, Serena, but this is the only option left now, since you don't want my uncle's investments anymore. Look at the bright side..."

"There is no bright side, Willa." I was about to stand up from the couch when she held me back. How could she even suggest this to me?

"I know someone who worked for them at this same time last year. She was being paid ten thousand dollars every month for just making gloves. Now imagine what those that made leather vests and jackets would have earned."

"I don't care if they were being paid a million. This is a huge no for me."

The same people who killed my brother and tampered with the evidence. I would rather chew rocks for the rest of my miserable life.

KNOXX"And one last thing I will say is that when I get my hands on whoever that traitor is, his death will be the slowest and the most torturous." It wasn't a promise... It's something that wouldn't fail to happen. After the meeting, everyone began to disperse. I needed to have a word with Ax as regards the camera stuff he spoke about. As I got to where he stood, Bishop joined us, putting his hand on both of our shoulders. "Remember when I said something about committed relationships, you both came to my mind. I hope you both don't tell your pussies about the doings of the club. You know not everyone is to be trusted." He said with a smirk. "Get off me, man." Ax shrugged his hand off. "Are you okay? It's my wife, my forever person you're talking about here. For your information, I tell her every damn thing that's because I trust her with everything in me. If that's not okay with you, I suggest you probably go hang yourself on a pole and leave me the fuck alone." He growled, attracti

  • The Biker's Fashion Designer    89: Finally Letting My Men Know

KNOXXMy plan went very perfectly... Currently, we were onloading the drug supplies into the lorries...both locations at the same time. Ax was the one heading the other location while I was the head in this one location. Bishop did not later show up... probably was drained from bondage fucking the whole night. It took approximately three hours for us to be done, both on Ax's locations...though they finished some minutes later. Before heading back to the club, I made sure that the drug supplies were transported back to our warehouses where they rightfully belonged. It was at the warehouse that we all met...my men and I that were on two different locations before heading back to the club. Not only did we get our drug supplies back, we also got new prisoners - Rex's minions that were on duty.Everywhere had gotten bright already when we got back to the club, most, if not all of the prospects were up doing their morning duties. I felt very relieved with what I had done this morning in res

  • The Biker's Fashion Designer    88: Pre Operation

KNOXXI spent the night in my office, sleeping on the couch. The next morning around five, I showered in one of the guest rooms. I was consciously avoiding going to my room. Getting back to taking coffee like a maniac, I instructed a prospect to get me a full jug of brewed black coffee, alongside an empty mug that I would be taking it with. While in my office, since I had already found the location of the addresses, I brought out the map which I had used to draft a full plan on how my men and I would take over the two warehouses that Rex had hidden my shipments in.We would be heading to both places at the same time around three to four am tomorrow morning with our bikes, trucks and three lorries... The trucks and lorries would be packed at a distance from the warehouses, once I'm sure that the we have fully secured the two locations, that would be when the trucks and lorries would now come for onloading of the drug supplies.I was yet to inform my men though...for safety purposes s

  • The Biker's Fashion Designer    87: A Word With Olivia

KNOXX It wasn't up to three minutes I called Olivia and she was already knocking on my office door. "Come in," I said, sipping coffee from the mug as I placed the picture of my bike on the table surface. "Heyy." She said with a sullen look on her face. I nearly didn't ask her why she had a sad look on her face until she sniffled. Oh, it seemed to me that she had been crying. As she got closer, I noticed that her eyes were a bit swollen and there were dark bags under her eyes. "Olivia, are you alright?" I just had to ask for formality sake. She shook her head, sitting down on one of the seats. "What happened?" "K...Knoxx, it's nothing you should be worried about." She sniffled, packing her white blond hair into the hair band she had worn on her wrist. "That's not the response I was looking forward to hearing....but it's alright," I said with a shoulder shrug. "Hope you're handling yourself just fine." "Sure, I am." She forced a smile on her face. "So, why have you.

  • The Biker's Fashion Designer    86: A New Path

SERENA "Are you really sure about leaving your job at the clubhouse?" Willa asked when we got to our shared apartment. The cab driver was kind enough to help me with my bags."Thank you," I said to him before shutting the door, then I turned to Willa. "It's best that I left, Wil." I stated."You broke things with the president. That's not enough grounds for you to end your job contract with the club. What happens to the remaining forty thousand dollars for this month and next month? That's so much money to lose just because of a breakup."What was she saying? That was more than enough grounds for crying out loud... Not only that, the insults that would be hurled at me, the shame, the embarrassment... then, the heartbreak of seeing Knoxx with other women... Nah, the next one month would be hell for me there. The only set of people that I would really miss were Zoey, Layla and Delilah...oh, yess and Chanel... How could I forget her? I felt bad that I left without informing them, most e

  • The Biker's Fashion Designer    85: A Time Alone

KNOXXSomeone among my men was snitching on the club to Widow's Bite... I was still trying to wrap my head around that... Now, my woman had to add to it by what she had just told me.I had hoped to come tell her what has happened during the meeting and how I find it hard to believe that one of my men who was yet to find was feeding the club's information to Widow's Bite...not knowing she..."Fuck!" I slammed my fist on the wall of my office. Of course I know there would be bruises on my fingers because of the coarseness of the wall, but that was no where compared to what I was feeling in my chest right now... She didn't trust me enough to tell me about her personal issues...and why she even told me about this was because of she had a picture of my bike. Ever since we became really serious, I told her everything that happened in my life and in the club, ...even when she didn't ask. That was how much I trusted her. This was someone who I was planning on asking to be my wife tonight. I

KNOXX I stood and watched as Blade, the club's enforcer, struck a Widow's Bite prospect with a whip made of dried rose thorns. He was tied hands and legs to a pillar firmly with a long chain. The bastard was caught red-handed trying to blow up the club's garage with explosives. Widow's Bite has

SERENA "The application link closes by midnight. You've got up to twelve hours to think about it." Willa continued with her terrible suggestion. Was she not seeing this didn't sit well with me? "I don't believe you, Willa, seriously," the way she wanted me to apply for this job, despite what th

  • The Biker's Fashion Designer    2: Going Down The Drain

SERENA It's been five years since I lost my brother and three years after my mom joined him. Yes, I was the only one left, with no parent, no sibling. My mom died of heart failure and... that's enough, Serena. I mentally hit myself on the head. I totally disliked thinking about how miserable my li

  • The Biker's Fashion Designer    1: Prologue

SERENA "Mom, do you think Lionel will be returning tonight?" I asked my mom as she slid the spatula under one of the chicken laps and turned it. My mouth watered at both the sight of the meals and the sweet smell that filled the whole kitchen. We were making buttermilk fried chicken, garlic mashed
