LOGINChapter 6~
KIMBERLY'S POV 👠💄~ It was a new day at work, my second day, and I decided I was going to try to talk to more people today. Perhaps my first impression wasn’t that memorable. I’d try to make my second impression much more memorable. I came to work as early as I could, arriving before a lot of my coworkers. That was a good start. I was seated at my desk, studying the work that was sent to my computer, apparently by Mr. Williams. He must still be testing my proficiency, and I’d prove to him that I deserved this job. I worked on the assignments given to me happily and finished up in no time. I took it back to the boss and he approved it. But of course he handed me even more assignments to complete. I took them happily as well. On my way back to my desk, I saw some of the girls from yesterday. Beatrice. The one who tried to be mean. "Hi! Good morning," I said to her and her friends. "Hi," she answered reluctantly and focused on her friends again. I smiled to myself and continued to my desk. "Why try to talk to her?" Ashley asked once I sat down. "Hmm?" I didn’t expect the question. "Beatrice. You know she doesn’t like you, right? Just avoid her," Ashley said, and I smiled. "Thanks. But I don’t care whether she likes me or not. I’m not against anyone here," I said. "Cute. But I’m just looking out for you. This place isn’t as nice as you think it is. Everyone here looks out for themselves. You’re new here, so just be careful," she said, and I nodded. "I’m always careful," I said and chuckled. "Wow, the new employee seems cool. Let’s be friends," one of the guys beside my desk said to me. "Oh please, Jasper. Face your work," Ashley said to him. "Never mind Ashley, my dear. I’m Jasper, and you are?" he asked me. "Kimberly, but my friends call me Kim," I said and shook his hand formally. "Nice to have you here with us, Kim," he said and smiled brightly. "Thanks," I replied, happy to have made a new friend. "Okay, but seriously, I’d listen to Ashley about staying away from Beatrice and her kind. That girl can be seriously nasty," Jasper said to me. "I think I’ve encountered girls like that most of the time in my life. It’s best to just not let them get under your skin. If they shower you with hate, you shower them with kindness. It’ll get them confused," I said. "Nice. Good luck with that," Ashley said and laughed. "Honey, you’ll only burn yourself out if you do that here," Jasper said. "Well, it has always worked for me," I said, and they both nodded with smiles on their faces. We focused back on our work, and chatted every once in a while. I also asked them about some things I didn’t understand well in the assignment that was given to me, and they were happy to offer help. Once it was 1 p.m., everyone went out for lunch break. I left with Ashley and Jasper to the cafeteria. Took a tray full of delicious-looking food and followed them to their table of choice. I was halfway through my food when I was called out of the cafeteria by one of the security men. Apparently the boss had requested he come here and fetch me. "Excuse me? You mean me?" I asked the man to be sure. "Yes. Are you not Miss Kimberly Gilbert?" he asked. "I am," I replied, still nervous. I looked at Ashley, and she looked just as surprised as I was. Jasper had a shocked look planted across his face. "Okay," I stood up and followed him. I followed the man closely as we made our way out of the cafeteria. Once we were out, we entered the elevator going up to the top floor. I don’t know why I was feeling so nervous. What did I do? I don’t recall doing anything wrong. It’s just my second day here. Once the elevator opened, the man stepped out and I followed him. He asked me to wait near the coffee machine stand, that he’d get back to me. I went over to the coffee machine stand and sat down at one of the waiting chairs there. Everything about this place seemed so sophisticated and beautiful. The whole company structure was beautiful. I waited and waited, till someone sat on one of the chairs there, a few seats away from me. I turned to look at the person and was surprised to see the handsome elevator guy from yesterday. He rested his head on the chair with his eyes closed. He seemed tired. He must be working too hard. I watched him attentively, admiring his features. He sat there quietly with closed eyes. I wondered what his job was around here. This is the third time I’m seeing him now. He suddenly got up from his seat and went toward the coffee machine to get a cup of coffee. He barely noticed me sitting there and just did his thing without looking my way. I watched as he got a cup of coffee and drank it all in one go without pausing. He trashed the paper cup in the bin and sat back down. This time, five seats closer to where I was sitting. "Hi," he said to me. I was surprised he had talked to me. "Um… hi," I replied and faced forward again. "You must be new here," he said. He had a nice deep voice. "Yeah. I am. Just started yesterday," I said awkwardly. He simply nodded at me. "Do you… um… work here too?" I summoned the courage to ask him. He looked at me for a few seconds before responding. "Yes. I work here too," he replied simply, and I nodded. "Good to know," I stated. This is so awkward for no reason. Probably because he was too good-looking and had this commanding presence. "So, how’s your boss like? I was told he was asking for me. I’m hoping I’m not in any sort of trouble or anything," I said to him, trying to make conversation and fill the silence. "Why, did you do something that would get you in trouble?" he asked me with a bit of amusement in his tone. "No. Of course not. Today’s just my second day here. It’s too soon to get in trouble," I said to him. "Then you have nothing to worry about," he said. "So how’s he like, the boss?" I asked again. He paused for a while before replying. "I’m sure you’ll find out as time goes by," he said and closed his eyes again. I think that’s a hint he doesn’t want to talk anymore, so I just kept quiet. We both sat in silence for minutes. He suddenly stood up from his seat and faced me. "I should take my leave now, Miss Kimberly. Congratulations on getting the job, and good luck to you on your stay here. I hope to see you some other time," he said and left. I watched him as he disappeared from my sight completely. I sat there in confusion, thinking. I never told him my name, so how did he know? The security man from earlier came to meet me where I was sitting. "I’m sorry, miss, but the boss is occupied with some other thing. He said you can go back to your department and sorry for the disruption from your lunch," he said, and I nodded. Thank God. At least I’m not in trouble. "Okay, sir. Thank you," I said to him and made my way back to the elevator. I kept thinking about my encounter with Mr. Handsome. How did he know my name? Is he psychic or something? ~ "So, what did he say to you?" Ashley asked me when we got back to the office. Jasper was also interested in knowing what happened. "Nothing. Because I didn’t see him, the boss. Apparently he was too busy to even meet with me, so I was dismissed by security," I said to them. "Hmm. That’s weird," Jasper said. "Yeah, I found it weird too," I stated as well. "So, can you guys tell me what the boss is actually like? I’m curious," I asked them. "Two words. Devilishly handsome. I wish I looked like him," Jasper said to me. I chuckled slightly. "You’re exaggerating," I said to him. "Sadly, he isn’t. Our boss Zachary Maxwell is so good-looking and super wealthy at such a young age. Oh, if only I could get him to notice me, I’d throw myself at him all the time," Ashley said and gushed. "Wow. Now I’m even more curious to meet him," I said to them. "Yeah. Trust me, every girl in here is hoping to have a one-on-one conversation with him at least once, or get close to him in any way, but he’s so out of our reach and way out of our league," she said and pouted her lips. "You’re all not only out of his league, but also none of you girls here are pretty enough to catch his attention. Which is why I was shocked when he asked for Kim during lunch break. Which is understandable, because you’re so pretty, new, and fresh," Jasper said. "No, no, no. Please don’t say that. Honestly, everyone here is so pretty and handsome, it’s kinda intimidating to be here with all of you guys, to be honest," I said to them. I didn’t like being praised that way. "Aww, you’re so modest. Thank you, love," Jasper said to me and smiled. "Thanks," Ashley said and grinned sheepishly. ~ Once it was time to go home, everyone packed up and left the office. I left with Ashley and Jasper to the parking lot. They offered me a ride, but I politely declined. Thankfully, I quickly got a taxi that took me to the bus station. ~~ Once I got home, I freshened up, ate dinner, and got ready for bed. I arranged my clothes for work for the next day in my wardrobe and slid into bed. My mind processed everything that happened today but was stuck on one particular scene. 'I should take my leave now, Miss Kimberly.' Hmm. I wonder how he knew my name? ~~ZACHARY'S POVMy eyes bore into Ashley's as i leaned in, my voice firm but controlled. "Ashley, we know you're involved in Kimberly's disappearance. It's time to tell the truth."Ashley shifted uncomfortably, her eyes darting around the room. "I don't know what you're talking about," she stammered. My expression remained calm, but my eyes flashed with determination. "Don't play dumb, Ashley. We have evidence. Tell us where Kimberly is now while I'm still being nice."Ashley's resolve began to crumble under my intense gaze. She glanced around the room, searching for an escape, but found none. "Okay, fine," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'll tell you what I know. But you have to promise to protect me."My expression softened slightly. "We'll do what we can. Now, tell us."Ashley took a deep breath. "Christian Norman is behind Kimberly's disappearance. He's been planning this for months. And...and....... and I helped him."My eyes widened. "Tell me, Where is Kimberly?"Dam
KIMBERLY'S POVOnce my blindfold was removed, I saw that I was being kept in a completely different place from before. The man untying my binds started touching me inappropriately and that's when I couldn't take it anymore.I listened to my intrusive thoughts and bit the man's hands.Once I was free of him, I made a run for it.I ran out of the room, not knowing where I was going but as long as I was moving I'd find my way out.And that's when I bumped into someone, he was so solid that I stumbled backwards.Oh my God. A familiar face.Christian."Christian? What are you doing here? Did you guys find me? Is Zachary here with you?" I asked feeling a bit relieved to see him.Perhaps I was finally saved."Not exactly," He said looking a tad bit confused."Well, did you find me on your own? We need to leave this place before they find us," I said dragging his hand with me."Yeah. We're not going anywhere sweetheart." He said with a firm voice.I quickly let go of his hand while I studied
CHRISTIAN'S POV~As I pondered on the mysterious message, my mind racing with possibilities, I decided I must find out who this person is soon before I get in trouble. I didn't want to alert much people, I didn't want everyone to know that someone might be onto me.I turned to Ashley, who was watching me with an unreadable expression. "Let's get moving," I said, my voice firm. "We have a lot to do before tonight."Ashley nodded, and we set to work, preparing for the next phase of our plan. But I couldn't shake off the feeling that I was being watched, that someone was waiting for me to make a mistake. As the hours ticked by, I grew more and more anxious. The message had unsettled me, and I couldn't focus on the task at hand. I kept glancing over my shoulder, expecting to see Zachary or someone else lurking in the shadows. But there was no one.I pushed on, determined to see my plan through to the end. I would get away with this, no matter what.As night began to fall, we made our mov
ZACHARY'S POV ~"Don't lie to me, Christian. I've seen the way you've been lurking around Kimberly before. You're involved somehow. Tell me what you know," I pressed, my voice rising.Christian raised his hands in a calming gesture. "Zachary, listen to me. I'm telling you the truth. I don't know anything about Kimberly's disappearance. But I'm willing to help you find her. If you want us to work together."I hesitated, weighing my options. I didn't trust Christian, "No. Thank you. I'm working fine on my own.""Come on Man, I know we're not exactly in good terms like we used to be, but I also care about Kimberly so please let me help find her. Atleast for my own conscience," He insisted. "Fine. Let's work together. But if I find out you're playing me, or you're not being completely honest with me, there WILL be gravy consequences," I said to him.Christian nodded resolutely. "I understand. You don't need to threaten me. Let's find Kimberly."With Christian's assistance, My investigati
ZACHARY'S POVI realized Hours had passed since Kimberly's disappearance as it was now 3:am the following day as our search went on all through the night. And suddenly it clicked. I remembered my encounter with Alexandria last time and she didn't look quite happy to see Kimberly. Why would Kimberly suddenly disappear shortly after that encounter?I informed my security of this immediately and they decided to question her once the sun comes up.My father was sorely against it as he was certain that Alexandra Wallace wasn't capable of doing such dirty work."Come on Son, you really think because you refused to marry her, she'll go to such lengths as to kidnapping?, You've known this girl almost your whole life. You know she isn't capable of that. She wouldn't." My father defended. "You weren't there when she confronted me in front of Kimberly, father. If Alexandria is behind this, I'll use everything I have to make sure she pays, if her parents are involved, then I'll use all my swea
ZACHARY'S POV ~When I got back home from work, i heard some splashes of water coming from the back of the house and decided to check it out.I saw Bryan and Bailey throwing water balloons at each other in the swimming pool."Hey kiddos." I said to them."Hi Zachary. You're back." They both greeted me."Yes. And I got some pretty cool things for you both. Here, you can have these delicious cupcakes and cookies when you're done having fun." I said to them."Thanks man." Bryan said and got out of the swimming pool to take some of the cakes."Seriously? Glutton much." Bailey bashed him playfully but Bryan shrugged."Hey where's your sister?" I asked Bryan."Umm... right here." Bailey said raising her hands."Not you silly. Where's Kim?" I asked them."Ohh yeah, that's strange. I've barely seen her all day. Just in the morning when she was running around doing nothing." Bryan said."I think she said something about going out to get something in a coffee shop or something." Bailey and "S
