Sarah's POV

“Did you do it, Kael? Have you been secretly recording us? The café, the texts, all our conversations? Is that how Eleanor got the screenshots?”

He blinked, genuine confusion crossing his face. “What? Sarah, no. I would never…”

“Don’t lie to me.” I took a step closer, clutching the strap of my bag, with my heart hammering. “She had printed messages. My words to you after the gala. All our conversations. And she mentioned security cameras catching us. How else would she know details?

  • The Billionaire's Contract Bride   Chapter 70

Sarah's POVThe front door clicked shut behind Adrian, and the sound lingered in the quiet house far longer than it should have. I remained standing where he had left me, my eyes fixed on the empty driveway long after his car had disappeared beyond the gates. Usually, watching him leave for work filled me with a strange sense of contentment. I would smile to myself, close the door, and begin planning how to spend my day until he returned. Today was different. My smile never came.Instead, I found myself replaying every word we had exchanged over breakfast, every glance he had shared with Eleanor, and every explanation he had given me the night before. None of them sounded entirely false, yet none of them erased the doubts quietly taking root in my heart. With a heavy sigh, I walked back into the house. The silence felt unfamiliar, almost uncomfortable. It was as though the walls themselves had begun holding secrets. I hated that thought the moment it crossed my mind. This was supposed

  • The Billionaire's Contract Bride   Chapter 69

Sarah's POVSleep never came that night. No matter how many times I closed my eyes, the images on my phone replayed themselves over and over again. Anna smiling beside Adrian. Eleanor laughing with Anna as though they had known each other for years. The messages thanking Anna for helping secure contracts. Eleanor called her family.None of it made sense. Or perhaps… It made too much sense. I turned onto my side and stared at the sleeping figure beside me.Adrian looked peaceful. His breathing was slow and steady, his face relaxed in a way that made him seem almost innocent. If I hadn't seen those photographs myself, I would have believed nothing had ever happened.I wanted to wake him. I wanted to ask him every question that had been racing through my mind. Why didn't you tell me?Why did your mother lie?Why did both of you pretend Anna meant nothing when she had once meant so much?Instead, I remained silent. The silence between us suddenly felt heavier than any argument could have.

  • The Billionaire's Contract Bride   Chapter 68

Sarah's POV The moment my phone finished turning on, it vibrated repeatedly, one notification after another filling the screen until I could barely keep up. My heart pounded as I stared at the unknown number. Adrian sat beside me, his hand still resting gently over mine, but I noticed the subtle change in his expression. The calm confidence he had shown moments ago had disappeared, replaced by something much harder to read. He wasn't looking at me anymore. His eyes were fixed on the phone."Go ahead," he said quietly.I nodded, swallowing the lump in my throat before opening the conversation. The first message was painfully simple. “You trusted the wrong people.”I frowned.Below it was another. “Don't believe them, they're using you”There was an attachment. My fingers hesitated over it. "What is it?" I whispered.Adrian's jaw tightened. "I don't know."I tapped it. A photograph slowly loaded onto the screen. It showed Adrian standing beside Anna in what looked like a corporate ban

  • The Billionaire's Contract Bride   Chapter 67

Sarah's POVThe rest of the afternoon passed more peacefully than I had expected. Eleanor and I spent some time in the garden after lunch, talking about simple things that had nothing to do with Anna, business, or the tension that had been hanging over the house for the past few days. She complimented the roses blooming along the stone pathway and even shared stories about the years when Adrian was still a stubborn little boy who refused to listen to anyone.Listening to her laugh so freely was almost unbelievable. If someone had told me a few weeks ago that Eleanor and I would be sitting together, drinking tea and laughing over old family stories, I would have dismissed it as impossible.By the time the sun began to set, Eleanor excused herself to prepare for an evening charity dinner she had promised to attend. Before leaving, she gently squeezed my shoulder and smiled. "Don't wait too long before having dinner. Adrian told me he'll try to get home early, but you know how work is."

  • The Billionaire's Contract Bride   Chapter 66

Sarah's POVThe silence that settled over the house after Adrian left was almost comforting.I stood by the front door for several moments after his car disappeared beyond the gates, smiling to myself as I replayed our conversation. He had reminded me at least three different times to stay indoors, to call him if I needed anything, and to let him know immediately if anyone unfamiliar came looking for me. At first, I had found it amusing, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized it came from a place of concern.Ever since Anna's unexpected appearance, Adrian had changed. He was more attentive than ever, more protective than he had ever been since our marriage. Part of me wondered if he blamed himself for what had happened. If he thought that by telling me about Anna sooner, he could have prevented everything. The thought alone made me feel sorry for him.Closing the door behind me, I wandered back into the living room. The house was unusually quiet, almost too quiet. Eleano

  • The Billionaire's Contract Bride   Chapter 65

Sarah's POVFor several long seconds, I simply stared at the glowing screen. The room was completely dark except for the faint light coming from my phone. Beside me, Adrian slept peacefully, his breathing slow and even, completely unaware of the message that had just appeared. My thumb hovered over the notification. I wanted to open it, but I also wanted to pretend it didn't exist.A strange feeling settled in my chest. What if it was Anna? The thought alone was enough to make my heart beat faster.I carefully slipped out of bed, making sure not to wake Adrian. My bare feet landed softly on the cold wooden floor as I quietly picked up my phone and tiptoed toward the balcony. The cool night air greeted me the moment I stepped outside.I wrapped my arms around myself before finally looking down at the screen again.Unknown Number. There was no name or profile picture. Nothing that could tell me who had sent it. I hesitated once more before unlocking the phone. The message opened immedia

Sarah's POVEleanor remained standing, pacing around the sitting room. "That project… You will not do it. Not under any circumstances. I won't have the Moretti name dragged into some flashy city venture with that... that outsider."Her shout echoed off the high ceiling. I looked up at her, my hand

  • The Billionaire's Contract Bride   Chapter 26

Sarah's POVVoices. Raised, heated, echoing up from the floors below like thunder. Eleanor's sharp, commanding tone sliced the air, followed by Adrian's lower, strained responses. And then... another voice.Another familiar voice I can never forget Kael.My heart stuttered, a mix of hope and fear

  • The Billionaire's Contract Bride   Chapter 25

Sarah's POVI needed air. Or at least a change of scenery beyond these suffocating walls. Adrian hadn't returned since I'd ordered him out, and the nurse, Margaret, had been conspicuously absent, perhaps under new orders to keep her distance. Good. I couldn't bear the sight of her clinical smile k

  • The Billionaire's Contract Bride   Chapter 24

Sarah's POVAdrian entered the bedroom carrying his suit jacket over one arm, his tie loosened, looking every bit the exhausted executive. His face softened when he saw me propped against the pillows."Sarah. You look a little better today." He leaned down to kiss my forehead, but I turned away. Hi
