The drive back to the house felt much longer than usual.

I sat in the backseat of the taxi with the divorce papers resting inside my handbag and the property agreement tucked beneath them. The city moved past the window in a blur of buildings, traffic lights and unfamiliar faces, yet I barely noticed any of it.
