Aria didn’t sleep.

Not really.

Every time she closed her eyes, she saw him.

Felt his grip.

Heard his voice—low, controlled, dangerous.

Then stop me.

Her chest tightened as she sat up in bed, dragging a hand through her hair. The room felt suffocating again, the walls closing in like they had learned how to trap her thoughts, not just her body.

She couldn’t stay.

Not like this.

Not waiting for him to decide how far he would go next.

No.

If she was going to leave—

It had to be now.

---

The house was quiet.

Too quiet.

Aria moved carefully, her bare feet silent against the cold marble floor as she slipped out of her room. The hallway stretched ahead, dimly lit by soft golden lights.

Every step felt louder than it should.

Every breath too sharp.

But she didn’t stop.

She couldn’t.

She had spent the entire night watching, listening, memorizing the patterns of movement in the house. The guards changed positions every hour. The side entrance—less watched than the front—had a brief window where no one stood directly in front of it.

A small gap.

But enough.

If she moved fast.

If she didn’t hesitate.

She could make it.

Aria reached the back corridor, her pulse pounding in her ears. The door was just ahead.

Freedom.

Again.

This time—

She wouldn’t fail.

Her fingers wrapped around the handle.

Cold.

Real.

She pushed.

The door creaked open slightly, the cool night air slipping in like a promise.

Her heart leapt.

She stepped forward—

“One more step…”

Her body froze.

The voice came from behind her.

Low.

Calm.

Terrifyingly familiar.

“…and I won’t be as patient as I was before.”

Aria’s breath caught.

Slowly—

She turned.

Adrian stood in the shadows of the corridor, his figure half-hidden in the dim light. But his eyes—

They were clear.

Sharp.

Locked on her.

He had been waiting.

The realization hit her like ice.

“You set me up,” she whispered.

“No,” he said, stepping forward slowly. “I expected you.”

Her chest tightened.

“So you decided to just stand there and watch?” she snapped, anger rising to cover the fear.

“I wanted to see how far you’d go.”

Another step.

Closer.

“And now you know.”

“Yes,” he said quietly.

He stopped just a few feet away.

“I do.”

Silence stretched.

Heavy.

Charged.

Aria swallowed, forcing her voice steady.

“Move.”

His eyebrow lifted slightly.

“You’re still trying?”

“I’m leaving.”

“No.”

The word came instantly.

Firm.

Final.

Her jaw clenched.

“You don’t get to keep me here.”

“And you don’t get to walk out like nothing ties you to this place.”

“There’s nothing tying me here!”

His gaze dropped briefly to her hand.

To the ring.

Then back to her eyes.

“You’re wrong.”

The air shifted again.

Dangerous.

Unpredictable.

Aria took a step back instinctively.

“I mean it, Adrian,” she said. “Don’t do this.”

But he was already moving.

Fast.

Before she could react—

He closed the distance.

His hand wrapped around her arm.

Strong.

Unyielding.

“Let go of me!” she snapped, trying to pull back.

But he didn’t.

Didn’t even hesitate.

Instead—

He lifted her.

Completely off the ground.

A sharp gasp escaped her lips.

“Adrian!”

“Enough,” he said, his voice low and controlled—but carrying something darker underneath.

She struggled immediately, pushing against his chest.

“Put me down!”

“No.”

Her heart raced wildly as he turned, carrying her down the hallway like she weighed nothing.

“This is insane!” she snapped. “You can’t just—”

“I can,” he interrupted.

And he kept walking.

Straight down the corridor.

Past her room.

Past the guest wing.

To a place she had never been.

His room.

The door swung open with a sharp push.

And before she could react—

He stepped inside.

The room was darker, larger, colder than hers. Minimal. Controlled. Just like him.

But she barely had time to take it in.

Because the next second—

He dropped her onto the bed.

Not gently.

Not harshly enough to hurt.

But enough to make her breath catch.

“Adrian—!”

She tried to sit up.

He didn’t let her.

In one swift motion—

He was on the bed.

Above her.

Caging her in.

Her heart slammed violently against her ribs.

“Get off me,” she said, her voice unsteady now.

But he didn’t move.

Didn’t even pretend to.

Instead, he reached for her wrists.

Her breath hitched.

“What are you doing—”

Before she could finish—

He caught both her hands.

Pulled them above her head.

And secured them against the headboard.

The movement was quick.

Decisive.

And final.

Aria’s eyes widened.

“Adrian!”

She tried to pull free—

But it was useless.

He had already tied her wrists in place using the silk tie from his bedside.

Not painful.

But firm.

Restricting.

Unavoidable.

Her chest rose sharply with each breath.

“You’ve lost your mind,” she whispered.

He leaned closer.

Close enough for her to feel his breath.

“Have I?” he murmured.

Her pulse raced.

“This isn’t control anymore,” she said once again. “This is—”

“Say it.”

His voice dropped.

Darker.

More dangerous.

Her throat went dry.

“This is obsession asshole.”

Let me go..

Silence.

For a moment—

He just looked at her.

Like he was searching for something.

Or confirming it.

Then—

His hand lifted.

Brushing lightly against her cheek.

Down her jaw.

Slow.

Deliberate.

Her breath caught.

“You keep running,” he said quietly.

His fingers traced the line of her throat.

Sending a shiver through her despite herself.

“You keep pushing.”

His gaze dropped to her lips.

“And yet…”

He leaned in slightly.

Not touching.

Not yet.

“You never actually leave.”

Her heart pounded uncontrollably.

“I tried,” she whispered.

“Not hard enough.”

The words sent a spark of anger through her.

“I’m tied to your bed, Adrian,” she shot back. “What exactly do you expect me to do now?”

Something flickered in his eyes.

Something dangerous.

“Stop fighting me.”

Her chest tightened.

“That’s not going to happen.”

Silence.

Then—

Without warning—

He closed the distance.

His lips crashed against hers.

Possessive.

Intense.

Overwhelming.

Aria froze.

For a split second—

Her mind went blank.

The force of it, the heat, the sheer intensity—it stole her breath completely.

Then reality hit.

She struggled instantly, turning her head, trying to break away.

But he didn’t stop.

Didn’t soften.

If anything—

He deepened it.

Like he was trying to prove something.

Claim something.

Her heart raced wildly, emotions clashing inside her—anger, shock, confusion, and something else she didn’t want to name.

Finally—

He pulled back.

Just enough.

Both of them breathing harder.

The air between them thick and charged.

“You don’t get to do that,” she said, her voice shaking.

His gaze stayed locked on hers.

“I just did.”

Her chest tightened painfully.

“That doesn’t make it right.”

“No,” he agreed quietly.

The answer caught her off guard.

For a moment—

Something shifted.

Something real.

Something dangerous in a different way.

Then—

He reached up.

Untied her wrists.

Just like that.

Aria blinked, stunned.

Her hands fell back to the bed, free again.

“You’re letting me go?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Adrian sat back slightly, running a hand through his hair.

His control—cracked.

Not gone.

But shaken.

“I’m giving you a choice,” he said.

Her heart skipped.

“What kind of choice?”

His gaze met hers again.

Sharp.

Intense.

“Stay,” he said.

The word hung in the air.

Heavy.

Loaded.

“Or leave.”

Her breath caught.

“You said I couldn’t leave.”

“I said I wouldn’t let you walk out like nothing matters.”

His voice dropped slightly.

“But if you leave now…”

A pause.

“…you don’t come back.”

Silence filled the room.

Aria’s heart pounded as she slowly sat up, her wrists still tingling.

This was it.

A real chance.

Freedom.

No guards.

No tricks.

Just a choice.

But as she looked at him—

At the man who had just crossed every line she had drawn—

She realized something terrifying.

This wasn’t just about escape anymore.

And that made the choice…

Far more complicated than it should have been.

  • The Billionaire’s Substitute Bride   Heart And Body

The days leading up to that night had been a slow burn of anticipation and deepening connection, the kind that built like embers under ash until the flame finally caught and consumed everything in its path. Liviana felt it in every glance Marcus gave her across the dinner table, in the way his hand would brush hers when no one was looking, in the quiet moments they stole on the terrace when the city lights below seemed to dim in comparison to the spark between them. The love they had built—through nightmares and healing, through doubt and reassurance—had reached a point where words were no longer enough. They both knew it. They both wanted it.That evening, after a family dinner filled with laughter and the easy warmth that had become the new normal in the Blackwood penthouse, Liviana caught Marcus’s eye with a look that said everything. He understood immediately. They excused themselves early, claiming tiredness, but the tension between them was anything but sleepy. The door to her s

  • The Billionaire’s Substitute Bride   Echoes Of Longing

The morning after their night together dawned soft and golden, the kind of light that filtered through the penthouse windows and made everything feel a little more possible. Liviana woke first, tangled in the sheets with Marcus’s arm draped protectively across her waist. She lay there for a long moment, listening to his steady breathing, feeling the warmth of his body against hers. The intimacy of the night before lingered in her skin like a secret, a beautiful one that made her heart feel fuller than it had in years. She traced a finger lightly along his jaw, marveling at how this man—strong, steady, hers—had become her safe place in a world that had once been so cruel.Marcus stirred, his eyes opening slowly to find her watching him. A slow, sleepy smile spread across his face. “Morning,” he murmured, pulling her closer. “You okay?”“Better than okay,” she whispered, pressing a kiss to his chest. “Last night... it felt right. Like we were finally whole together.”He kissed her foreh

  • The Billionaire’s Substitute Bride   Threads Of Desire

The days following their deepening conversations on the terrace carried a new kind of electricity between Marcus and Liviana, the kind that hummed beneath every glance, every touch, every quiet moment they stole away from the rest of the penthouse. The air between them felt charged, like the moments before a summer storm when the sky darkens but the first raindrop hasn’t fallen yet. Liviana found herself thinking about him constantly—the way his hands had held her through so many nightmares, the steady beat of his heart under her ear when she needed grounding, the quiet strength in his voice when he told her she was enough. Marcus, for his part, felt the pull stronger than ever, the doubt that had once gnawed at him now replaced by a deep, aching want to be closer to her in every way possible. One evening, after a family dinner that had left everyone laughing and full, Liviana slipped her hand into his under the table. Her fingers traced small circles on his palm, a silent promise tha

  • The Billionaire’s Substitute Bride   Whispers Of The Heart

The days after the countryside escape settled into a comfortable rhythm that felt both new and deeply right. Liviana spent her mornings in the garden with Aria, their hands dirty as they tended the plants that had become a symbol of their growing sisterhood. Afternoons were often for art or quiet reading in her suite, the new supplies Adrian kept providing allowing her to explore memories and emotions on canvas in ways words sometimes couldn’t capture. Evenings belonged to the family—dinners where laughter came easier, stories were shared, and the bonds between them strengthened with every passing hour. But the quiet moments, the ones that mattered most to her heart, were the ones she shared with Marcus. He had been her anchor from the very beginning, the man who had carried her from darkness into light without asking for anything in return. Now, as she blossomed under Adrian’s protective love and Aria’s sisterly warmth, Marcus remained steady, never demanding, always present. Their r

  • The Billionaire’s Substitute Bride   Blossoming

By the end of this phase, Liviana was truly blossoming, like one of the flowers in the terrace garden they had tended together—roots deepening into the soil while petals opened slowly toward the sun. The relentless pampering and protective love from Adrian had given her the foundation she needed, a solid ground from which she could finally stand tall without fear of the earth shifting beneath her feet. It wasn’t just the gifts or the trips or the constant care that made the difference. It was the way Adrian showed up every single day, learning, adjusting, and loving her with a fierceness that was both overwhelming and deeply healing. He had become the big brother she never knew she needed, and in doing so, he had found a piece of himself that had been missing for twenty years. The days had settled into a rhythm that felt both new and strangely familiar. Mornings often started with breakfast on the terrace, Adrian attempting to cook with varying degrees of success while Liviana and Ari

  • The Billionaire’s Substitute Bride   Protective Heart & Countryside Escape

Adrian’s protectiveness reached new heights when old whispers from the past surfaced, the kind of murmurs that traveled through the underworld like smoke on the wind. A few names from the old Carver network had started asking questions—nothing direct, nothing overt, but enough to make the hairs on the back of his neck stand up. He didn’t tell Liviana immediately. He didn’t want to scare her or make her feel like the shadows were closing in again. Instead, he tightened security around the penthouse with quiet precision, adding extra layers without making it obvious. Guards were rotated more frequently. Routes were double-checked. Background checks on anyone who came near the building were run twice. But even as he did all of this, he forced himself to give Liviana space to breathe, to live, to grow without feeling like she was back in a cage.Their bond deepened through quiet conversations and shared moments that didn’t need grand gestures. One evening, after a long day, they sat on th
