LOGINAyla's pov
The grand hall was decorated exquisitely, since this was a ball not only for our pack but for other neighboring packs. The air smelt of fresh pine and the scented candles and the pack members were dressed in shades of midnight blue while others outside the pack wore moon-white dresses, they moved in elegant circles and their laughed filled the air. Everyone looked perfect and confident. Everyone but me. I forced a smile while I stood at the top of the staircase, smoothing my simple white dress and the moon pendant I owned, the only thing I had on me that was mine when father brought me into this pack. My palms were sweating, so badly that I thought they might actually drip but I could only bit down my lip to hide my tension. I looked down at my father, Beta Rowan, who I hadn't noticed had been waiting at the foot of the stairs. his arms were crossed as he said. “You took long enough, thought you'd faint before the ceremony, that would have been… impressive” his tone was dry and i could tell how sarcastic he was. I climbed down, my father wasn't cruel, not truly, but he had a way of hiding his worry behind sharp words and tonight he was laced with tension. He took my hand as I reached the last step. “Happy birthday “Thank you father" “You are to make my name proud and this" he looked away from me and towards the ball room filled with people “this will be the day you write your fate" I forced a smile, I was happy he believed in me but his expectations weighed more than bricks. “Now go, stay close. The moonrise will be soon" I nodded but the knot in my stomach pulled tighter. As I stepped into the crowd, few heads turned, some curious and some judgmental, some surprised I'd actually dared to attend. Then, like vultures spotting fresh prey, they appeared. Lila and her waiting maids. “Oh look," she drawled aloud “the Beta's charity case decided to join in the party" she glided towards me in a gown that was so sparkly it looked like she's dipped herself in stars “Doubt she had ever attended one" the girl at her right sneered. “Look at that dress go" the one by her left added as they all stared at my dress. “Hope you're ready for the big moment?” Lila leaned in "Don't worry if you don't shift we'll still save your seat. At the table of disappointments” People around them snickered while heat rushed up my neck, I felt their gaze on me and it pushed the urge to run away and forget about everything but before I could turn to leave a loud gong echoed through the hall. The music stopped and so did conversations.. “It is time" the Alpha raised his arms as he stepped forward “children of the moon. Step forward" The crowd made a path for me and two others, my legs trembling as I stepped into the only circle the moon shone through. Then the transformation started, a boy became a russet wolf and the girl, sleek and brown and then me I was the only one left. “What if she doesn't shift" I heard in the crowd “She's not even of this pack" “She's wasting our time" I felt cold, I found my father's eyes and he back at me, sternly. But all I felt was cold then a spark. I gasped, stumbling forward as something inside me was stunned. My bones cracked and pain tore through my skin. A howl ripped from my throat as I shifted into a wolf, white and smaller than the rest. But still, I wasn't weak, not a disappointment like the mean girls had predicted. 'I am Nyx' a voice purred in my head, ancient and soft and he is ours A sudden scent, strong, clean and intoxicating hit me like a tidal wave, the air now smelt like sanderwood and earth after rain. In two words the scent was dark and electric. We snapped our heads towards the end of the room. A tall boy… no, a young man stood there, dressed in black and silver, broad shoulders, sharp jaw and dark hair falling slightly over piecing gray eyes Our mate stood like an unsheathed blade, six-foot-five with the body of an idol. 'MATE!' His gaze locked onto mine and the crowd gasped again as he stepped through them, his eyes never leaving mine. He shrugged off his black coat, draping it over me as I shifted back, clothes magically waiting for me the way the elders had prepared. I went into a room and changed into a silver gown, they wore over my wrist a band that signified a figure to represent the pack's dignity. Then I came out to face the crown as a newborn. My obsidian black hair loosed, cascaded over my shoulders and neck adorned with jewels along with the moonstone I always wore, when I came out Killian was already waiting. “May I?” he asked, offering his hand. I could see the way his eyes flickered with admiration. I placed mine in his. Electricity shivered through my body. This was love and I could feel it under my skin. He led me into the hall, and the music resumed—soft, slow, intimate. We danced in the center of the room, everyone watching, but it felt like only his eyes existed. “Name," he growled softly “Ayla Rowan" I said, my chin held high “Silver fang. Beta's daughter" something in me was proud to say ‘Beta’s daughter’ “Killian Reid, Blood moon Alpha" he leaned in closer to me, breathing on my ear “and you are my mate" His words sent shivers down my spine. I knew a bit about the blood moon pack, they were the reasons some maidens of silver fang slept with guards out on the border. Their guards. And I, I was mated to their Alpha “You shifted like a queen" he mummered, holding me protectively. “Very weird way to say I’m a late bloomer” I purred and he chuckled. “You are remarkable, you know that” he whispered, leaning closer so I could feel his hot breath on my neck “I knew the moment I saw you. And after tonight… I’m taking you home with me.” My heart jumped. “Home?” “To my pack,” he said. “Where you belong. With me.” The world tilted. And behind him, I saw my father standing tall with eyes widened, chest rising with something like pride. Real pride. For the first time, he looked at me not as the girl he had taken in… but as the daughter he claimed. But everything was happening too fast. Too big. Too intense. Killian’s fingers brushed my cheek in a soft way, “Your life will change from this moment on,” he whispered. “Our life will change" And as the music swelled, the mean girls casted me death stares and my father looked proud. I knew he was right. My life has changed forever for the better.Ayla's POVI interlocked our fingers while basking myself in how quiet and peaceful our room was.Moonlight spilled through the curtains, covering the walls of our bedroom with silver rays. Beside me, Killian rested against the headboard, one arm wrapped securely around my waist as he reached for my back and traced absent circles against my skin.A smile tugged at my lips as I felt him press his nose into my hair and inhale. I tilted my head up in return and pressed a soft kiss against his lips that he smiled into. I could hear the rhyming rhythm of our bond beating as one, which served as the most reassuring thing between us. “Most of the time, I wish I could tell what's going on in your head." He interrupted my thoughts. “You. Most of the time." I shrugged. “Aw really" he raised a brow at me. I rolled my eyes lightly. “Why? You don't believe me?" Tightened his grip around my waist. “I have to. You're my wife." I could have said something else as a comeback but then I decide
6 SIX YEARS LATERBLOOD MOON PACK Ayla's finial povSoft morning light slipped through the tall windows and stretched across the room and onto the bed we laid on.I stirred beneath it and for a moment, I didn't open my eyes, I simply breathed, letting the warmth settle against my skin, letting the stillness exist without interruption. I could never get tired of this. Of peace. Everytime it hit, it was still a strange thing, something I hadn't fully learned how to trust yet. But thoughts like this lasted only for a millisecond. Beside me, Killian shifted, a vivid proof that peace could last. He wasn't awake fully but just enough to feel me, I felt his arms tighten around my waist, pulling me closer as though even in sleep, he refused to let distance exist between us. I loved it. Smiling faintly, my eyes opened slowly and I turned slightly in his arms, studying his face and sharp lines that had softened by sleep. Or so I thought. His eyes blinked slowly, forming a small smile
Third person's pov SIX YEARS LATERSEATTLE. Seattle had gotten used to luxurious Lara having Clara as its owner, especially if it was now one of the biggest fashion industries in the whole of Asia and America. The scandal about Isabel had died down, everyone believed Aiden had travelled to move on, though his mother constantly protested, she died three years back from overdose. The world had believed, Elara Voss left everything behind to start a new life in a place away from the drama. And Clara?Blond hair tied up into a neat bun, her three piece suit clinging to her body, making her look more formal than ever. She adjusted to this, she became the leader of a global company, something she never knew she could do without Ayla. She leaned back slightly in her chair, gaze drifting towards the window by her side, the city stretched endlessly below and it was such a wonder how easily things could quickly die down, like it never existed. No one ever knew werewolves existed and onc
Third person's pov The sky had begun to darken, Killian was no match for the Darkforce who had sapped energy from Ayla. The Darkforce sent an unseen force again that sent him crashing against a fallen trunk and a sharp cry ripping from his throat. It hovered above him as he groaned in pain. Killian coughed, trying to push himself up with one elbow. “Such defiance, from something so fragile…” he moved and wrapped a hand around his neck, squeezing until he couldn't breath, until he was at the verge of passing out. “Vorath!!" The voice cut through the air and the Darkforce stilled. It slowly turned to Ivy who was standing at the edge of the clearing, with hair silver and eyes glowing white. Her body was marked with ancient glowing sigils and spells with her hands slightly held up.Magic curled around her fingers like it was a living thing, making her more ethereal to look at. "I've been waiting for you.” She said calmly. The Darkforce shifted with interest. "Finally a moon v
Third person's pov When he got close, she moved first. Nyx controlled her but this was Ayla and before Kallum could strike back she hit hard.As pressure built underneath her skin, she immediately slammed into him, Kallum's body jerked as the force hit drove him further into the ground. He gritted his teeth, hands digging into the earth as he pushed himself back. And though he could fight back, he refrained and merely watched as Ayla poured all her energy into knocking him out. Finally bored of watching her, he never rose up when he crashed to the ground and as she held him against one of the trees, something shifted and her breath hitched, her grip faltered slightly and for a second her strength wavered. A smile crepted up his lips. “You're running out," he rasped. Ayla's jaw tightened as she pressed him against the tree. " No.”But her body betrayed her, she indeed was running out, every strike and pull and every second she held him down, it took somehow from her in return.
Ayla's povThe corridor blurred past me as I raced from the dungeons and to the room Killian was kept in. A million thoughts filled my head and gruesome images of what Kallum could have done if he got there first I pushed the door immediately, not bothering to knock. “Ivy…”She stood there, at the center, with books scattered across the table and sigils half drawn in the air. I could tell her expression had been tight with concentration before I stormed in. "Did you find who you were looking for?” She asked, her brows slightly knitted together. I glanced at Killain's direction and a wave of relief washed through me. He was seated upright staring at me like I was a lunatic. "What happened?” I took in air and breathed it out. " He's gone.” Ivy's brow arched like she could already guess what I mean but didn't want to bring herself to believe it. "Who is gone?” She asked as silence followed. “Kallum," I said, “he escaped, one of the guards came to tell me" Ivy's hands droppe
Ayla's pov Killian pushed back up, his eyes etched with worry, like I had said something forbidden. “What are you saying Ayla?” I searched his eyes but all I could find was curiosity. And I could feel him as well, I could feel how worried he was..Did he not remember that night? Was he drunk or
Third person's pov Ivy locked the door behind her, she had prepared for one of her regular trances, only this time it was the first she was conducting in two months. She sealed the door with a whispered incantation and took deep breaths. She had to do this, not because it was a regular thing t
Third person's pov Isabella got into her car along with Killian and when her driver started the car. He uttered his first statement in the space of two hours“Are we going to see Ayla?" He asked curtly “After you settle down, yes, but now. I'm taking you home" she said with an accomplished tone.
Ayla's pov I left the house earlier than usual, using the excuse that I had an early morning interview which I did and that I needed to get some stuff for Clara and the grand fashion show tomorrow. I sat in front of the dressing mirror as they got me ready for the interview. I didn't want to do
