By the ninety-ninth day of Lux Vitale’s disappearance, all of Sicily had already accepted that she was dead. The Antara family held a funeral grand enough to shake the entire underworld. Standing before her grave, Lorenzo Antara, Don of the Antara family and her husband, mourned openly in front of police officials, family lawyers, and powerful business associates. Under the glare of reporters’ cameras, he even swore that for the next three years, no woman would ever take Lux’s place. However, when Lux finally returned to the seaside estate on Long Island, wounded, limping, and barely alive after months of captivity, she discovered that Lorenzo had not only broken his promise– He had already given another woman everything that once belonged to her. And that woman was none other than Bianca Vitale. The sister who had shared her name.

Chapter 1

By the ninety-ninth day after Lux Vitale was kidnapped, all of Sicily had already accepted that she was dead.

The Antara family held a funeral grand enough to shake the entire underworld.

Her husband, Lorenzo Antara, Don of the Antara family, stood before her tombstone with reddened eyes as police officials, family attorneys, and powerful business associates looked on. In front of reporters and flashing cameras, he swore that for the next three years, no woman would ever take Lux's place.

However, when Lux finally dragged herself back to the seaside estate on Long Island, bruised, scarred, and limping from one leg after ninety-nine days in hell, she discovered Lorenzo had not only broken his promise, he had already installed another woman into the life that used to belong to her.

And that woman was none other than her so-called sister, Bianca Vitale.

The dining hall was ablaze with light, the long table crowded with guests.

Bianca sat at the center wearing a silk gown, one hand resting gently against the slight curve of her stomach, every inch the new donna of the household.

The moment Lux pushed open the doors, every smile in the room froze.

Lorenzo was the first to react.

He shot to his feet so abruptly that the hem of his black suit swept backward with the motion. In just a few strides, he was standing in front of her.

"Lux?"

Disbelief flashed across his face.

"How is this possible? They told me you were dead."

Lux looked at him, the corner of her lips slowly curling upward.

"I'm alive. What, disappointed?"

Silence swallowed the room whole.

Lorenzo instinctively reached for her hand, as though trying to pull her back into the version of reality he understood.

"How could I be? I sent countless people looking for you. Every lead said you'd already been taken care of."

His voice softened.

"The important thing is that you're back. I missed you, Lux."

He opened his arms to embrace her, but she sidestepped him coldly.

Her gaze drifted toward Bianca's swollen belly, and a mocking smile appeared on her face.

"You missed me so much you got her pregnant?"

Bianca's face turned deathly pale.

Almost immediately, she slid from her chair and dropped to her knees before Lux.

"That night at the club, someone drugged me. The Don was the one who got me out of the private room. Later... later I found out I was pregnant."

Tears trembled in her voice.

"He only let me stay here out of responsibility."

Lux smiled faintly and turned to Lorenzo.

"The baby or me. Choose."

Lorenzo fell silent for several seconds before speaking.

"You just got back. Go upstairs and rest first."

His tone was calm, almost deliberate.

"We'll talk about this tomorrow."

However, Lux had no intention of giving him room to delay.

Right in front of everyone, she pulled out her phone and called a private clinic to schedule an abortion appointment for the next morning.

Then she looked at Bianca.

"Tomorrow at nine. I'll personally take you there."

Bianca immediately began kowtowing at her feet. It did not take long before blood smeared across her forehead.

"Please, Lux... I never wanted to compete with you for the Don. I just... I just want to keep my child."

Lorenzo's expression instantly turned cold.

"Lux."

His voice dropped low, emotionless.

"Don't push this too far."

At that moment, something inside Lux's chest seemed to tighten painfully shut.

She had clawed her way back from hell itself, yet not a single person had asked how she survived those ninety-nine days.

The only thing Lorenzo cared about was whether the child in Bianca's womb would be born safely.

As if she had been the unreasonable one all along.

"Fine," she said softly. "Then let's get divorced."

"Lux, stop this."

Lorenzo rubbed a hand over his brow, already turning toward Bianca.

"I'm taking Bianca to the hospital first."

Lux stood there motionless, watching as he lifted Bianca into his arms and hurried out of the room.

Suddenly, the past three years of her life felt like one long, absurd nightmare.
